Thank you. Just replaced my kid's iPhone 7 battery, and the process went smoothly thanks to your tutorial. For people doing it for the first time: 1) if using a hair dryer, don't hesitate to do it a lot. I did 2 minutes at first, it wasn't enough, had to do a second pass before I could see "results". In total I did 8 minutes of hair dryer around the whole phone, 4 passes of 2 minutes each 2) there are "suction cups" you can buy online, with a handle, and suction cups on both sides that really help applying the right amount of force when opening the screen. Not sure I'd have been able to go through the initial steps without that. Opening the screen really is the hard part. Once that's done, following the steps and paying attention is enough. As others have said, there are tons of tutorials on how to replace batteries but this one really had all the good details, critical for beginners! (including how to put it back)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It helped me a lot. The biggest struggle was to open the cover and remove the battery because the tapes both got torn. I almost gave up! Then I dropped the tiny screw twice and couldn't find it. Well, I spent the whole afternoon changing the battery but I made it! :D (a proud woman here)
I just finished my battery replacement. I heated the back of the phone with a hair dryer, I needed a sharper metal prying tool to start the separation process then used the plastic tool. I did not remove the screen, I was careful not to put pressure on the ribbons and left the suction cup on to hold up the screen so it did not try to separate from the body very much. I did not remove the taptic machine as in other videos. That saved a lot of time. Trust Me the fewer screws you remove the better!! They are the size of a grain of sand and require a very steady hand to reinstall!!! Extremely easy to lose drop or misplace! My inner tape strip broke off at the start point so I pried up the battery at that end (from the outside) to regain the grip and pulled it right out. The new battery works great.
Hi there, Awesome! Congratulations on successfully replacing the battery! Yes, I agree. Removing fewer screws can definitely save a lot of time. I'd like to say that the more troublesome part of the process is the removal of the adhesive. If the taptic engine is left installed, there isn't much area for the adhesive to be pulled out and the chances of it ripping is higher. If it does rip, it will also be easier for the user to remove the battery without the taptic engine. Some people may find it easy to work with the taptic engine installed but we try to address our guide for the general users. Regards, John Scandi Tech

I have just replaced my battery following this guide. I didn't remove the screen, managed to be careful enough to avoid issue. Excellent guide thank you very much!
@@Jay-cq5qr He meant that he did not disconnect the 3 connectors that held the screen to the phone body. I agree with that method. 3 less connectors to screw up or damage. Also the top plastic piece does not need to be removed neither does the taptic engine.
I used batteries from ScandiTech for all of my iPhone battery replacements. I used to learn how to replace batteries from watching videos from iFixit. However, I found this video provided me more information and tips handling the battery replacement for iPhone 7, great job!
Thank you for this tutorial! The part about heating up the edges (I used a hair dryer) helped SO much. And the part that had me sweating was the sticky adhesive under the battery. I used my long pry tool and pulled both pieces of adhesive just long enough to wrap around the tool. Then I kept slowly pulling, then rolling it, then pulling it a little more, and rolling it. You could use a pencil for this method as well. It took a while longer but ensured the adhesive wouldn’t break.
Great video👍. As mentioned, make sure to keep note of the screws as you disassemble the phone. There is one longer screw amongst the 4 that secures the shield cover for the battery/ screen ribbon cable connectors. For those unaware during disassembly, the longer screw is located in the screw hole nearest to the RHS edge (RHS) of the phone screen removed at 5:50.
Great vid. You don't really need to disconnect the screen assembly from the bottom portion that holds the battery; the phone will open flat. Oh ya- one more thing. I've accidentally punctured a lithium battery, and yes, they ignite like crazy and will fill your room with pretty nasty fumes. Be very gentle with the battery.
Thanks for the thorough video, I was able to replace my battery. I did have one hiccup, I tried pulling the pink side of the adhesive strips first, which made both strips stick together, impossible to separate. I lucked out that a local repair shop gave me a new set of strips, and I was able to complete the installation a few hours later. Personally I thought prying the screen off was the hardest part, the rest was pretty easy (not counting my messing up the adhesive strips). I couldn't find a Scanditech battery for an iPhone 7 on Amazon, so I used a Daxtromin instead. It was $19.99.
By far the best video for changing the battery in an IPhone 7. Just changed mine with success. Great detail and provides caution on possible problems you can have in the process.
Thank you so much for a very clear tutorial guide to change the battery. I viewed several different RUclips videos before choosing yours to guide me through the process, which I managed to achieve successfully and my phone is all back together with a nice new powerful battery, all working as it should!
I watched several different videos on RUclips on how to replace the battery of an iPhone 7 Plus. This one was by far the clearest and the most helpful, which is why I ended following your instructions and suggestions to actually replace the battery. (The replacement was successful 😉💪). So thank you very much for making such a good tutorial!
I know this is old and the phone is definitely old, but I use it for testing on Apple stuff. My battery pooched and I was able to replace it with some patience thanks to your video!
Looks like you didn’t re-apply adhesive to make it water resistant again??? I guess the kit doesn’t come with any. Why should I remove the old adhesive?
When you take apart the screen to adhesive comes off as well and can't be reused. It's not necessary to put the waterproof seal back if you don't require any waterproofing protection. Keep in mind that even replacing the waterproof seal doesn't mean that the phone is 100% waterproof again..
If you don’t put back the water resistant seal, it will take the dust from everywhere and eventually accumulate in front of the cameras after 2 or 3 months only ! Leaving you with “cloudy & blurry” pictures only. Basically it will catch dust faster than an iPhone 5s or previous models.
Gilles bkf no it doesn’t I’ve been doing these replacements since 2017 I’ve never had any problems with my 6s plus you can just leave the old one on there it won’t be waterproof but at least it will prevent dust etc from entering
@@LuckyAlanithC Yes, everything is normal, no issues whatsoever. I did everything with very light hands and light touch, no forcing anything. So far, I'm pretty happy with the product and the tutorial.
Seems a few people have difficulty removing screen, I eventually found heating around the screen with hairdryer (gently of course), keep hairdryer moving all the time, and get warm enough to the touch, ( mostly the top, bottom, and left side, personally I found a craft knife blade best to slide under screen enough to prise up, the art is NOT to prise the glass, the glass sits on a metal surround, ( you cannot tell by the look ) so that is where the tip of the blade needs to reach under to prise safely, I also added the hairdryer again to warm, Gently does it ! ... hope this helps, --- a brilliant video by the way - good luck
Followed your video. Super helpful! Before replacing the battery i plugged in and tested like your video show and got a Touch ID message. Hit ok as you showed in the video and proceeded the install. After installing and putting it all back, boot up and got the same message again. But this time the Touch ID doesn’t work at all. What could be the cause?
Excellent; probably the very best tutorial on YT. Good point when laying the new battery into the phone that since you only have 1 chance, to lay the left part that has no adhesive down first, and then align the batt's connector with the phone's jack.
Thank you ScandiTech for this informative tutorial. I just changed my iPhone 7 battery. athe screen removal was the hardest, used a stainless steel blade to pry it open.
@@adaml6793 If you don't have the proper tools you should really not be pulling your phone apart. If you don't have a proper metal or plastic spudger (pry tool), then any kind of razor type blade will do. I used an exacto knife. You could also carefully use a small _flat_ screwdriver, but hold it by the metal part, no more than 1/4 up so if you slip you have a better chance of not causing internal damage. I broke a cable once in my 5S trying to remove the battery with a blade. I slipped and cut clean through a cable at the top, so be careful of how long the exposed part of your screwdriver is.
Thank you SO much, saved me $70 dollars.( Batteries plus wanted 69.95) only issue I had was with the adhesive strips under battery. I heated battery like you suggested. With a lot of prying I got it out!Awesome feeling. I Appreciate you’re video.
Thanks for showing re-assembly. iFixit’s video got to the battery removal and then left me hanging. Used a heating pad on front and back of bottom edge to finally get adhesive on the screen loosened up. That and keeping track of which screw went where were the hardest parts.
Why do you disconnect screen? It seems like you may just remove one shield and disconnect battery connector. If lucky may pull adhesive without disconnecting Taptic Engine. Isn’t disconnecting too many connector increasing chances of issues upon reconnecting?
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about this. There are several reasons why this can happen and we'll help you figure it out. Please contact support as we are available 24/7. You can contact us at support@scandi.tech
My MAN!!! I followed your tutorial step by step on an iPhone 7 PLUS and despise minor differences I managed to change the battery with NO PROBLEMS at all. I'm subscribing to your channel in a heartbeat! Thanks a lot! :DDDDD
Don't be made to believe you have to remove all of the parts he did. The shield over the battery connector and the Taptic engine is _all_ you need to remove. You can do this whole procedure in less than 5 minutes if you don't fart around removing (and potentially damaging) unnecessary parts.
Does it affect on your touch id since we’ve changed the battery? I have my 7 at 82% rn or should i wait until it drains to 80%? Edit : Or maybe should i go to the Apple Store for the battery Replacement?
Hi there, Thanks for asking. As long as the ribbon cables are not damaged and are connected securely, there won't be any damage at all. I don't really rely too much on what the phone says about the battery. It's you who'd be the best gauge. If the phone drains faster that usual or if it gets hotter than usual, I'd check and replace the battery. You can go the DIY route or have a tech install it for you. Going DIY will definitely save you more. Regards, John
I want to change out my battery for my iP7 with a new battery with higher capacity...but I was wondering if their are any side effects? Will the newer higher capacity battery damage or harm my iphone7 at all?
Hi! It's really the best video what i saw in batterie's guide. I replaced it, the operation was perfect the patient is died. So i did exchange the battery but when i put everything back finally the home button didn't work. I've checked my wife's phone (that's the same iphone 7), opened it looked into it but didn't do anything and when i put it together her home button didn't work either. Now i'm stucked. 2 no working phones which were good hours ago. Any tip?
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about the problems. It looks like the phone screen cables need to be reconnected properly and securely. Please go ahead and try reconnecting the phone screen cables and make sure that the cables are handled gently. These are quite sensitive.
Nice and concise Video with great tips! Do I have to remove the Taptic Engine to remove the hold down strips from beneath the battery? Like to leave that attached like the display screen.
This was a very helpful tutorial and I followed it to safely and correctly change my old battery for a replacement new one, thanks very much for posting.
This was the best how to video, but my phone was just dropped off at the DRS. to have it fixed. The one thing they see over and over are problems when people disconnect the screen from the phone. They said, if at all possible do not disconnect the ribbons.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble. You may need to put gentle pressure while unscrewing the screws. Don't push too much as it may puncture or cause damage. If it is still hard to take out, please contact our support for assistance.
Yes, _but_ it will move around inside the phone, potentially damaging the connector cable, so if you don't have the tabs, use any other _removable_ adhesive (do *not* use glue!) like double sided tape or even a small amount of that sticky gum stuff you use to put up posters.
Hi there, I understand. It can get tricky and can get a little frustrating in getting past this step but there isn't any other way. Heat the sides enough for the adhesives to loosen its grip. The best spot to initially pry is just at the top of the speaker. Please make sure that you are prying between the frames.
I botched the reapplication of the waterproof adhesive. No matter what I did the sealant wouldn’t separate from the backing without breaking into blobs. Aside from that it went fine.
Hi there, Yeah the waterproof adhesive can get tricky to install but I'm glad to know it went well. I just want to say that despite having a new waterproof adhesive, it's still not 100% guarantee that it is waterproof. The original was installed accurately by a machine and even so, Apple will not cover water damage in their warranty. So still, keep it away from liquid.
Excellent and comprehensive guide - thanks! but seriously, this is not a job for the feint-hearted! I am comfortable with electronics, but the ridiculously tiny size of these connectors and screws makes this a massive challenge. Unless they have the steady hand of a brain surgeon, some excellent lighting (i used a head torch) and a magnifier, most people will probably screw it up. I did this successfully but next time I change an iPhone battery I will probably take it to a repair shop - it's not a job I enjoyed. Note that what's not mentioned in this vid is that you do need to remove the whole screen section as shown, otherwise you will not be able to apply the new seal gasket. Getting all the remnants of the old seal off is pretty important if the new seal is to work. It takes a lot of patience and use a plastic tool, not a metal one. Also make sure the battery connector is the last thing you connect. Don't go plugging screen components back to the main board when the battery is live - you'll kill your phone
@@krypticx3n0n78 Happened to me too and I was so delicate with it. Seamless install wth. Next time I'm just going to take it to apple. a $25 kit compared to $49 @ apple would have been worth it.
You are right. You may get that message because of a damaged flex cable but it can also appear if the phone is still open (just like in the video) as we are at the testing the new battery phase. If the message still appears after the completing the process, it could be a damaged flex or simply just loose. If problem persists, contact us at support@scandi.tech

Hi there, There are a few reasons why this happens but if you've just replaced your battery, it is highly likely that the two phone screen cables near the battery are not fully seated. If you need assistance, please contact us at support@scandi.tech and we'll be happy to assist you.
I checked mine and they popped in like they should. Still get the error. Read that possibly if you tighten some screws too much you can damage small soldered points on the logic board.
I have the same error on my iPhone 7. Touch ID will not work no more for me. But it seems that the cables snaped right on... Don’t know what to do now...
No. Absolutely not. You can do this whole procedure in under 5 minutes if you don't fart around removing (and potentially damaging) parts you just don't need to.
You mention not prying the battery down by the volume buttons because of a cable that runs underneath the battery. I didn't see any cable when you took the battery out?
My home button stopped working after replacing my iPhone’s 7 battery, and a message telling “couldn’t activate Touch ID on this device” appears. What could I do? Home button doesn’t seems to have been damaged, I inspected it closely and the flex cables look good. May there be any solution?
Did you replace the home button with a new one? Because touch ID won't work if you do. That said, I had the same problem with my 6S, but once I opened it up again and made sure it was sitting just right and the screws were in deep enough it worked fine again, so try that.
Anong likido?
hello, please tell me why is so to just input plastic tool to loosen up adhesive to separate screen from the body? i cannot insert that plastic tool, no opening.. what am i doing wrong? need to heat up more with hair drier? truing with suction cup as well as help, but no result
Hi there, Thanks for leaving a comment. I understand the situation with the opening the phone step. Please contact support so we can further discuss how to separate the screen.
Hi there, The screws shouldn't be too tight that it is impossible to remove. If it's hard to remove, the problem might be because the screws are stripped. Please contact support for assistance.

I got stuck at 2:15. Either the screws on my iPhone are damaged or I'm just really bad at fixing things. Can i at least get a refund on this repair kit?
ScandiTech thanks for the reply. I tried a bunch of methods like using tape to rip it off, using a magnet and finally just pulling at the phone slightly and the screws finally flew out
Trying to replace my battery but I am worried about melting my phone. I am using a heat gun and when I try to raise the cover of the phone, nothing happens. How hot can I get it before I damage the phone?
I can not get past step two - loosen the screen from the phone. I used the hair dryer. Tried to get tweezers between the screen and the phone. No luck. Any suggestions?
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about the problem. It can get a little stubborn especially if this is the first time your phone is opened. There are no other workaround for this but as mentioned in our video. The key is to soften the adhesive with the hair dryer. You can tell if you're heating it too much if it's too hot to touch.

@@LuckyAlanithC Yes, everything is normal, no issues whatsoever. I did everything with very light hands and light touch, no forcing anything. So far, I'm pretty happy with the product and the tutorial.
@@ScienceTubeToday so you replaced battery with no issue that meand
Just placed my order for your kit - Looking forward to extending the life of my 7!
Nice! I replaced my x’s battery but I also have a 7 plus I’ll be replacing the battery on this week. Still such a badass phone
I've just successfully finished the battery replacement of my iPhone 7. Thank you for the tutorial!
Hows your battery still fine?
@@maryrosemaceda9725 The battery works excellent. Full use for 2 to 3 days without charging.
@@ElVero94 bro your touch id and home button is working after replace.ent of battery
@@LuckyAlanithC Yes, id and home button work fine after replacement
I've just won on ebay iPhone 7 for £30 all it needs is battery 🔋
Think I got myself a bargain 👌
Excellent.. You do not recommend installing new seal around the case?
Followed your video. Super helpful! Before replacing the battery i plugged in and tested like your video show and got a Touch ID message. Hit ok as you showed in the video and proceeded the install. After installing and putting it all back, boot up and got the same message again. But this time the Touch ID doesn’t work at all. What could be the cause?
Excellent; probably the very best tutorial on YT. Good point when laying the new battery into the phone that since you only have 1 chance, to lay the left part that has no adhesive down first, and then align the batt's connector with the phone's jack.
This is way more detailed and helpful with special warnings than the one from iFixit and other videos!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you ScandiTech for this informative tutorial. I just changed my iPhone 7 battery. athe screen removal was the hardest, used a stainless steel blade to pry it open.
Bro please help I’m tryna chnage the battery and unable to take the screen off. What blade did you use?
Artur Naumiuk exactly my thought
Theres a risk of destroying the taptic i believe
Hi I saw in the minute 12:20 you used new tapes strips, but where can I buy them? thanks?
You were awesome. Thank you so much for not going too fast or too slow and teaching in such detail.
I just did replaced my IPhone 7 battery, by far you video is the best, Thank you!
Hi, I changed the battery by following your video step by step.
Once i finish the process my iphone 7 keeps restarting.
What can I do to fix this?
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about this. There are several reasons why this can happen and we'll help you figure it out.
Please contact support as we are available 24/7. You can contact us at support@scandi.tech
Ohoh, mine is doing the same thing..., how did you fix it? This video was, by far, the best how to for replacing the battery.
Hi there,
Thanks for asking.
Regards,
John
I want to change out my battery for my iP7 with a new battery with higher capacity...but I was wondering if their are any side effects? Will the newer higher capacity battery damage or harm my iphone7 at all?
No it won't harm your phone but having read a lot of reviews it isn't worth it as it degrades a lot during first few months..
The higher battery seems to be only a few dollars more. I'll try it and see
if your tabs for the battery adhesive break, rubbing alcohol does wonders. put some under the battery and let it sit. pry some, put more, repeat
Any tip?
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about the problems.
Help ! I cant unscrew the battery part is too tight to unscrew it
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble. You may need to put gentle pressure while unscrewing the screws. Don't push too much as it may puncture or cause damage.
If it is still hard to take out, please contact our support for assistance.
Thanks for the tutorial! I was able to successfully replace the battery fallowing it. All the best!
Good video, but also if you are struggling removing the battery, isopropyl helps.
Hi there,
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion. We'll add this info.
just make it is 100% isopropyl, no water.
Bought a cheap oem battery replacement but it failed after a few charges. It will only charge to 1% 😂
So there isnt needed to add new adhesive for touch screen? Thank you
The best step by step of them all. Thank you.
Does replacing the battery remove the battery health feature? And does it give you notifications about non genuine apple battery
Thanks for the amazing video. I changed my battery but now my home button is not working 😞 does anyone know why?
can i replace the battery without adding new pull tabs? is it ok if i do so?
Yes, _but_ it will move around inside the phone, potentially damaging the connector cable, so if you don't have the tabs, use any other _removable_ adhesive (do *not* use glue!) like double sided tape or even a small amount of that sticky gum stuff you use to put up posters.
3:25. It should come across fairly easily. Problem is, it doesn't some apart, even after heating it. It doesn't come apart.
Hi there,
I understand. It can get tricky and can get a little frustrating in getting past this step but there isn't any other way. Heat the sides enough for the adhesives to loosen its grip. The best spot to initially pry is just at the top of the speaker. Please make sure that you are prying between the frames.
Please suggest should I buy battery in apple authorised store or another brand outside
Bro! what about the water resistance? How to retain water resistance?
Watched lots and lots of tutorials and this execution of method is the best thanks
I love the tutorial, it's excellent. Now, where do I buy the battery and the kit with all these small tools?
Hi there,
Glad to know that you liked our tutorial. You can get it at scandi.tech/
I botched the reapplication of the waterproof adhesive. No matter what I did the sealant wouldn’t separate from the backing without breaking into blobs. Aside from that it went fine.
Hi there,
Yeah the waterproof adhesive can get tricky to install but I'm glad to know it went well.
Don't go plugging screen components back to the main board when the battery is live - you'll kill your phone
when you put the replacement battery on, you did not connect. you just flipped the top. does that connection need to be snapped in? thanks
Just bought this, with a heat gun! I'm wondering, when the time comes to replace my battery, will I need to remove my screen protector?
@Miskatonic Alumni Most likely yes, the heat gun would just melt the adhesive of the screen protector
Hi there,
Any adhesive will loosen with heat. If you use a heat gun, the screen protector may get loose too.
Great video! I was able to complete my battery replacement without any tabs ripping :)
@6:28 Touch ID unable to activate means the flex cable is torn, most probably Home button won’t work too.
Dlink Fpv does that mean I have to get a new home button because I just received that message after doing this
@@krypticx3n0n78 Happened to me too and I was so delicate with it.

Same thing happened to me. Was so delicate. Apple is going to say you busted a cable.
I haven't been able to separate the screen at all. Would love if some did a super close up to see where exactly you place the tweezers/knife and press....
Hi there,

How do you solve error "Unable to activate Touch ID on this phone"?
Hi there,
There are a few reasons why this happens but if you've just replaced your battery, it is highly likely that the two phone screen cables near the battery are not fully seated.
If you need assistance, please contact us at support@scandi.tech and we'll be happy to assist you.
Too 🥺
I checked mine and they popped in like they should. Still get the error. Read that possibly if you tighten some screws too much you can damage small soldered points on the logic board.
I have the same error on my iPhone 7. Touch ID will not work no more for me. But it seems that the cables snaped right on... Don’t know what to do now...
Vasile Popa I ended up getting the iPhone SE.
I want to replace my battery with a new one but I’m scared to lise my data so any side affects?
I bought another brand of battery but this video helped me! Thank you!
Do I have to remove the screen completely?
Hi Johnny,
Yes we did and it's quite sensitive. The flex cable runs beneath the black covered area where the battery lies.
Hi bro, will replace battery all data loses?
My home button stopped working after replacing my iPhone’s 7 battery, and a message telling “couldn’t activate Touch ID on this device” appears. What could I do? Home button doesn’t seems to have been damaged, I inspected it closely and the flex cables look good. May there be any solution?
Did you replace the home button with a new one? Because touch ID won't work if you do. That said, I had the same problem with my 6S, but once I opened it up again and made sure it was sitting just right and the screws were in deep enough it worked fine again, so try that.
After replacement of battery. Can you test whether is it water resistant or not.
??? And show the results please.
It won't be 100% water resistant like it used to be but it's better than having a phone with a bad battery
After replacing the battery, does the phone lose its water resistance?
Yes, if you don't use the waterproof adhesive to seal it all back up.
hello, please tell me why is so to just input plastic tool to loosen up adhesive to separate screen from the body? i cannot insert that plastic tool, no opening.. what am i doing wrong? need to heat up more with hair drier? truing with suction cup as well as help, but no result
Hi there,
Thanks for leaving a comment. I understand the situation with the opening the phone step. Please contact support so we can further discuss how to separate the screen.
I'm having trouble getting the screws out to switch the camera and home screen any tips?
Hi there,
The screws shouldn't be too tight that it is impossible to remove. If it's hard to remove, the problem might be because the screws are stripped.
Please contact support for assistance.
Thanks dude! Really helped
Thank you so much this extremely informative tutorial. This is the first time i've done anything like this. Usually my brother does it for me but since he's out of town i had to do it on my own and i could successfully do it after watching this very helpful tutorial. =D

This was the best how to change the i7 battery out there. I had no problems. Battery came out....but the phone keeps restarting....ohoh
Can this battery you are replacing be used for and Iphone 7 plus?
Hi there,
No, unfortunately. You can only use a battery specific to its model.
I can not get past step two - loosen the screen from the phone. I used the hair dryer. Tried to get tweezers between the screen and the phone. No luck. Any suggestions?
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem. It can get a little stubborn especially if this is the first time your phone is opened. There are no other workaround for this but as mentioned in our video. The key is to soften the adhesive with the hair dryer. You can tell if you're heating it too much if it's too hot to touch.
Great video but no coverage of the glue replacement
What do I do if my screen touch isn’t working after I do this?
you didn't show the re-application of the adhesive around the edge of where the screen fits into the backside
Great job explaining. First time success due to your great video. Thanks a lot!
does the iphone 7 use the same battery from iphone 6??
