Such a shame this mall was an hour from where I lived from what I read on Wikipedia they are going knockdown apart of the mall and make room for a sports complex restaurants and hotel it's supposed to be completed by Labor day of this year hopefully it all will workout for this mall this is my favorite mall I would love to see it comeback to life again

Although I must admit to being a homebody myself, there will be something lost when stores everywhere have closed. This mall has provided the fondest of memories from its initial few years when it was brimming with people and fun. I cannot but wistfully wonder if there is not some magic formula for getting a mall such as the St. Louis Outlet Mall back to its former glory. Maybe something crazy like offering small businesses $1 per month rent for a year to see if shoppers will reappear and repeatedly return. And putting equal effort into revitalizing a nearly dead mall as is put toward constructing new shops cannot be inadvisable.

I've thought living in an efficiency studio apartment converted from an old mall space would be a neato place to live, like if you were young, single, not a "party-type" and worked at one of the warehouses nearby. I can only imagine what unforeseen Pruitt-Igoe issues might arise from this, but for a while, what a place of surreal comfort to come home to!

11:24 in this video, used to be Books-A-Million. Sometime after you shot this video(not sure when, my lone visit ever here was in June 2019), it had become Hope Church. I remember reading a recent article plus also noticed in Unicomm Production's newer video of St. Louis Mills, that it was mentioned Hope Church sued over being forced out of this mall for the PowerPlex sports fields/practice arenas redevelopment.

This footage was from late 2017. At that time several spaces were being prepared for Hope Church, so I can understand why they would be bummed to have to move. It's kinda sad an org called Hope Church would resort to litigation, but I don't know the story. I'd like to think the new developer would make an effort to help ease their relocation financially in good will, but again I don't know.

This mall opened when I was in middle school. I saw it when it was very popular and then when it died. I wish I could find the old myspace photos of when this mall was popular.

So sad. I've lived in Florissant (Right next to where this is located) for my entire life. It takes roughly 10 minutes to get there from my house, and I will always remember going there when I was younger. I grew up here. So did my brother and sister. We went to the Regal Cinema almost every weekend for about 15 years (not kidding) and I literally broke down when I heard they shut their doors in December 2018. Watching these videos of people walking through this ghost town really makes me sad.

It is sad, and preserving how the place looks/looked if/before it is gone was part of drive to film it. I hear the space is to be reused for more sports complex stuff, even though I think the Blues are building a new place.
But anyway thanks for checking out my film of the Mills and sharing your memories! Cheers

Dozenspeed No problem friend! This video actually inspired me to drop by a few days ago and see how it is. It looks brand new. So sad. The theater has its lights on all of the time. So ominous.

@@Dozenspeed Correct, the St. Louis Blues did open a new ice rink practice complex in fall 2019, and unfortunately no longer practice at the Ice Zone. At least it will still be an operational ice rink, once PowerPlex opens up in September 2020!

Thank you kindly. It was a shameless manuver I know but I try to solicit rarely and respectfully. I'm not a specialist like him, I just like having fun making videos and hope someone enjoys the work. Cheers!

This was from late 2017. The place had an eerie calmness but I didn't feel nervous at all. It is currently a monument to lost hopes and dreams, as I see it. I think what makes videos like this interesting is a sort of "nostalgic empathy"
      Thanks for watching!

I think of stuff like that all the time! When watching and when making videos like this, it's part of the reason I do it. I even allow myself to imagine people watching MY videos in 100 year's time. 😏 TYFW

I was one when this place opened. Growing up I went to the pbs play area, regal mt, go carts, the creamery, journeys and this hat store that was in there cause my dad was obsessed with hats💀 when I would eat in the cafeteria birds would be up in the ceiling flying around and shit, but the reason/ time we stopped going was when the arcade/skate park and go cart area closed

    • @e.j.1918

Towards the end a lot of older peaple would use it as a track to run in during the day
