  • The key to finding a diamond in the rough is often imagination, and looking at the current state of the site that will house City Foundry STL, it’s hard to imagine much that sparkles. But Steve Smith, CEO of St. Louis’ Lawrence Group developers, saw that shine when others didn’t.
“There were definitely people who had that puzzled look in their eye, like do you really know what you’re doing? Does this really make sense? But that is sort of motivating for me.”
His motivation vegan with a look at the outside of the dilapidated Midtown structure with his son in tow, and a question at the security gate.
“Can we go in building and see inside,” Smith remembers asking. “And they said no. You might die. (He) literally said you might die."

This dude said instragramable. Wtf. Dude look how badass these old buildings are. Granted, I understand they are probably full of mold and asbestos but rebuilding completely will inevitably run all the people around there out of the neighborhood or force them into worse poverty. While I think it could be a good idea, it's a bummer that it will impact many local family's life with their low income

Exactly. It’s almost a never ending cycle if you can’t find a way out.

@@JozeyRa the way out is knowledge . Applied knowledge is power.. have to stress in communities education is gangsta, how smart you are is what's up. How much value and skills you have is a gangsta lord who gets all respect. Because with that knowledge they can buy their own block back, open stores and opportunities, get grants and other funding, and make billions at the same time. But the white man has to come and save the day. Disgusting

@J. Dub why don't you help those families gain the tools and skills to become high income ? And if that's what they desire. If not, find them a community of likeness to move. Or if you really care buy the contract deal and make it something else beneficial.
You all talk and do nothing.
