Restoration is a hysterical pipe dream. Down it goes!
Animal House turned into Club 367, a heavy metal club. It was the best place to see up and coming local and national bands! Best time of my life there! Hello Crucible!!!
The chances of this building being restored or repurposed are zilch. It will almost certainly be torn down, with few of the materials recycled. A shame. How many times was Moline Acres mispronounced and misspelled in this video?
A lot of people wanted it to be restored. But at this point it probably will be torn down, but Moline Acres doesn't have the funding to do so, and St. Louis County refuses to help.
Why did they clean all the graffiti?
I was about 16 or 17 teen and bought a darling swimming suit in a store next to drug store when in my 30s I used to bowl on a league in the bowling alley. Later in life my 16 year old son worked at restaurant at top of tower. This was all long ago I am 73 years old now my son is 52.
In the summer of 1975 I turned 16 and tested for my drivers license there. The bottom floor was leased to the State for drivers license testing. I recall it well, my hair was half-way down my back and when the Missouri State Trooper walked outside asking for me I don't think he was a fan of guys with long hair, considering all Trooper's sported crew-cuts, lol.
I had just talked my dad into letting me install a new Pioneer Super Tuner cassette deck with a separate amp. Plus, a pair of Jensen Triax speakers in his car. That thing CRANKED! I had a few cassettes in the glove box and one of them was Alice Cooper's Killer. After the Trooper got in the car I was very tempted to push that Killer tape in and play "You Drive Me Nervous" because that's exactly what I was! No problem I passed and was smiling the whole way home. Dad let me drive, but no music because the Cardinals were playing a game and dad never missed watching or listening to a Card's game.
So many abandoned buildings in st Louis are owned by LLCs not even associated with StL. How did we let this happen?!?! How do we expect them to care about maintenance or safety or any part of the actual physical structure? So sad
Unfortunately a lot of these businesses have been consolidated or sold off because people just want to take the money and cash out. They're set and done, the companies only care about making money 🫤
@@fireghostExplores It is quite a shame how gross and selfish we’ve let capitalism become.
@saranisaac there never was true capitalism in America.
It is crony capitalism
Zero Interest Rates...Gather ..Hold...Commercial Real Estate needs Repurposed..
California...Totally N u t t s..
I drive by this building every day to work. I often think if they will ever demolish it, but it would be hard with the buildings right next to it.
Just had this video pop up on my feed, surprised I hadn't seen it on your channel before! Great video about this tower, this thing looks like an unsafe eyesore that needs to come down ASAP. Thanks for some more great content FireGhost! Your videos are always a great way to reset the day if needed.
It's extremally unsafe, it's been like that for a while, thanks for the comment!
I remember Rizzos Restaurant for their Spinning Salad!
I drive pass this tower just about everyday. It’s a shame that STL county won’t put any energy here. Pisses me off I have to drive to west county to do things with my family.
#RebuildNoCo
It's really sad they won't do anything with it, it'd be nice to see some development happen here.
I have watched all of north county decline throughout my life (58 years) So sad
It is sad to see how much it's declined over time. I wish we could see some rejuvenation happen in the area.

Won't happen, in 25-30 years all of N County (including Florissant and Hazelwood.) will be considered a low income minority area. Most of it (if not all.) has to do with the age of the area.
My subdivision was built in the mid 1950s, and some of the houses around my subdivision were built one at a time and you can still see the coal chutes on some of them. After WW2 the big push for the new idea called subdivisions hit N County starting in the late 1940s.
I found out what can happen when cities allow rentals and sec. 8/Hud Housing in. Next store to me is such a house and one night a coupe of years ago someone decided to stand in the sidewalk and shoot the house. It wasn't random it was targeted at someone that lived there and may still live there now. At least 5 or 6 holes in the aluminum garage door and where it bounced off the brick.
What a shame. How does a building get so torn up like this is? So sad.
Humans are destructive beings... sad as this was a beautiful building and I have great memories of weekends at Animal House
Interesting similarities. This is one of the buildings of the abandoned Nevele Grand in the Catskills: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevele_Grand_Hotel
I lived out near the tower. Funny this showed up in my feed.
It's sad that it's gotten to the point it's out. Hopefully they do something with it.
Fire ghost gaming. Hey man awesome video. I see you've started spicing your uploads with some commentary since your Jamestown mall demolition installment continues to attract more interested viewers. Just one question, was this the tower featured in george Michael's careless whispers music video because that one angle you did struck me as that. Awesome video man, commentary adds that intrigue !🎉
Thanks for the comment, i keep trying to expand upon my videos and get as much intrigue as i can, i enjoy seeing people are liking my videos as well, it really gives me the motivation to continue! As far as i'm aware with that music video, the filming location for that music video was in Florida, so it's not the same tower!
We moved to north county in 1961. I remember how attractive and unusual the tower was. A movie theater and restaurant. We often went to the public library and a drive-in theater near by, too. Your video is such a shock. I haven’t been by the tower in several decades. … You mispronounce words and occasionally say strange phrases. Just who/what is speaking here?
That was a very cool place...
I talked to a man who bought a a few of these units… once again.. the guy lost everything… Why is North County in shambles? Why can’t you even go to the gas stations???? Can you say Car Jacks
Chicago had Cabin Green , Robert Taylor, and other housing projects that failed completely. Actually, life in those buildings was good for, at most, A decade or two. Then a combination of gangs and mismanagement created a hellish condition. When Chicago City government officially gave up, every city leader, every social service agency, and both city newspaper editorial staffs placed the blame on "the buildings". Building design, building location, building density, building equipment. Nary a word about the real cause of the failure, which was the quality of the occupants. Not politically correct to blame people, so "the buildings" were blamed.
Totally different. This building was designed for and originally occupied by middle/upper middle condo owners.
I remember this was the best of the best! If you went to the restaurant on the top you were right up there with the "rich". The only reason the tower still exists is the internet and other antennas one the roof. Just tear it down, give up, for this is a sign of the times. Just like Jamestown Mall in the same general area. Once the best of the best Malls. Now after being closed for a number of years in now a mound of dust! 😢😢
This property is like this just like every single inner city in the United States is like this and everybody knows why😢😢😢
I took my date there for 9th grade prom 1976 i an 63 now
They need to build more buildings like this with the exterior walkway. In case there is a fire.
The property should have been sold at Auction…
So sad that this was allowed to happen.
It is sad the state it's been allowed to get to. They've had so many times they could have done something to save it.
Not paying taxes and assessments, along with no condo board leadership skills, is endemic to the culture of the north side of St. Louis. And it will be that way until the north side of St. Louis becomes more diverse and inclusive, although not many want to move there to change the culture.
I lived in the area 10149 count dr I left the area to live in the country WoW what a difference. My cousins and I would play on the elevators we were about 5 years old to us it was like a mansion we loved the area than I won't even go up by the neighborhood now unless I have security
Y
Two of that style built in Columbus...one still Standing.
Why would an LLC in California even want to own this abandoned building? It makes no money
I wonder about that all the time.
They don't. If you watch the video it explains that it is the plaza building that has a grocery store occupant and other businesses that the CA LLC owns, not the tower.
That's a bummer they should fix it up to help the homeless
Hello FireGhost, I'm a part time professor at SLU and looking for an urban explorer to talk to the class on January 16. Might you be interested. Dale
Very cool video and well written. But I do think you should read the script yourself rather than the emotionless AI voice that repeatedly fails to say "Mo-Leen A-Kers (Moline Acres)" correctly. It would also add a bit of emotion to a video that is sure to generate a strong emotional response.
I just found your channel and subscribed because I love North County history since I grew up here.
I'll keep that in mind for future videos. thank you.
I worked there!! It ws a cool place.lts gonna disappear....
is that the one where the top of it used to turn with a panoramic view
No the one you are thinking of is downtown st.louis near the arch. It was once called the clarion hotel. It to is abandoned tho and no one is willing to step up and make the building great again. It's really quiet a shame that the city and county let these iconic structures go to the way side. Very sad.
I do! Where wad the Animal House Dance Hall Club?!😂❤
Thanks for the comment, as far as I'm aware from the research It was on the ground floor, not 100% sure on exactly where it was there though.
Big Top Flea Market, also.
@fireghostExplores yes! It was 2 levels, the downstairs section held live bands and the upstairs was a DJ playing hip hop/rap! Many great weekends there!
Sad but the area has went down hill and the clientele has ruined it . Best to demolish.
these computer voices ruin everything.... just narrate your own videos.
I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thank you.
@@fireghostExploresno disrespect man keep up with the videos.
All of north county is a nightmare.
“Those people” un-develop everything around them.
I'm getting dizzy watching video! Slow down your movements!
Greed!!!!!!!
I can tell you aren’t from here … that area sucks … and no one cares about that gross tower … it’s trash
Lived here my entire life, thanks for the input.
It’s in the ghetto, all you had to say
More AI written and narrated BS. These trash clickbait channels should be banned.
AI spoken, but not written. Look at my newest videos. It's not longer AI
Is that true? Is that what it was?
Once black people moved in…
