Long-Abandoned American Farmhouse In The Middle Of Nowhere, Missouri
I love this fun video. The music is perfect.
Appreciate your views and thoughts on St Louis- the area would be much better off if they adopted a few of them. I've lived here twice, 1981-86 and 2021-current, and having made a few laps around this country I can say this is a great place. Not perfect, not everything I've ever wanted, but I have enjoyed my time here and still do!
White flight left behind a wonderful residential infrastructure in St. Louis City. How it was taken care of, bad.
I always have and always will love St. Louis. It truly is a special place. Beautiful video.
I'll agree to the first 2 sentences and thank you kindly for the 3rd, much appreciated!
"Awesome Awesome" YOU ARE THE FIRST CHANNEL to give more of the St. Louis, Mo story. You did a GREAT job and to add I also loved the back ground music. You also included the 2nd Empire home that is being Restored (The Brown's House on St. Louis Ave,) I always watch that channel as well. Keep up the good work.🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much, I might not be the first but I felt a lack of positive, hopeful light out there on the subject, and that's what compelled me to make it. I was super fortunate to get to film a tour of the Brown house with Kaleb himself, and it's on here too. Even though you know the whole story and are up to date, you might want to check it out too because I think it was a tidy, comprehensive summary of the situation then, which at nearly 3 years old might be neat to look back on from my 3rd party camera. It was filmed just before the electricity was re-wired! Kaleb was awesome to me that day and did a fire job presenting the house. Notice the interior tour was done in 1 single 26-minute take! I thought that was super cool. Anyway thanks for your support and such, I promise I have things going on and more to come, albeit even if it is not all Saint Louis related. Cheers, TYFW
The last motel was called the Branson villas. It closed in 2018 cause of bed bugs and couldn't pass City inspections
Thank you for sharing, comments like these are a cool benefit of sharing videos on RUclips. Thanks for watching! 🙂
I'm sure you think the backwards footage is cool and nifty but you'd be wrong.
So sad. Stayed there one night on my honeymoon in July 1996.
It’s been renovated now, or at least mostly.. new roof, marquee. Looks beautiful. Can’t wait to visit when I move there this fall ☺️
It's a dead mall
Yeah, I'm sure it is, I haven't been back since filming this nearly 7 years ago 😳 Have you been lately? Back then I was trying to not be mean by calling it "not quite dead" lol. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Reminds me so much of 10/27/2006, the night the Cardinals won the WS. I was at Mississippi Nights and left a concert early just as I found out that we won. People hugging, honking, yelling, etc. The clubs at the Landing that night were getting packed after the game. There's more I can say but the night the Blues won SC was probably the most recent time the city had high morale
I don’t understand the blue paint on the porches
Looks like someone started to paint the porch, then gave up. Rather quickly.
I moved to the middle of Missouri 2 yrs ago, and ventured in and around StL. I love the southern part of the city, the big park with the zoo and museums. Like every other big city, the suburbs are really nice... similar to a city like Philadelphia... the city itself is a pile of crud, but the suburbs have a lot of charm. I prefer to live in the Flyover State region... lots of cool towns like Hermann.
I love that the video is 5:55 long. I also LOVE the town, I know it's Southern Illinois and not New England but it reminds me so much of the town from 1989's Beetlejuice
I like that you got arial footage of a tractor driving through town. Nice music too
saw those type of indoor shutters that fold into the wall in Scotland when we lived there. They were fairly common, relatively speaking in victorian era places. Our "flat" had them in downtown Edinbugh had them.
For decades, Steak and Shake was The place to go for thespians. After the curtain has come down, the audience has departed and the stage has been struck, where else could still-pumped cast and crew go for a snack or meal at 2 a.m.?
I thought the original one was in Normal Illinois
That sounds right to me (he said without bothering to look it up 🙄) but just for the record, I wasn't trying to suggest this was the original location. 😉 Thanks for watching!
Its no ordinary rabbit.....
I’m rooting for this building! Though even if it reopened, I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t frequent it.
This isn't the high traffic area it once was, it needs to be destination dining.
I agree. Funny, because the one time I did go there it was because a friend said, “I really want to go to that vintage Steak N Shake.” So, it was a destination for us then.
@@td0911 I think they used to have classic car meets there, they could bring that back too. In fact, I'd say give the driver half off if they show up in a car older than (some arbitrary year like 1970)
I know I've said it before, but I worked for SnS for 13 years. Yes that long. How I made it throughout is beyond me. Left the company in 2011. While I don't wish the company well, I still find it very sad to see what it has now become. The one I worked at (Edwardsville) is facing so much competition now with several restaurants opening. Of course, it's been going on for 15 years now with that area developing. I can remember a time that SnS was the one place to go after h.s. football games, after church, etc and these days I only see 3-5 cars if any everytime I drive by the restaurant. How they stay in business I'm still wondering. Now, Sardar Biglari has been trying to re-invent the company by making it like McD's (the franchising thing) but I have yet to see its success. Two of my favorite business YT channels (Franchise City and Company Man) are not even saying positive things about it. Anyway, thank you DS for taking us all down memory lane. Great shots
Phuuuck yesss
A lot of guys saw that theyV😢

I hate that my mother work there. You are a wonderful place to bed at sea devise go figure just like shut up her.
I’ve been listening to this video while I’m at work. Makes me feel like I’m back home :)
I was the manager of the little white and blue motel. Around 2005
Neat, what was it called? Do you remember anything else about its history? I'm glad you managed to find my little video! Cheers TYFW
I miss them so much. As an O’Fallon lifelong resident, I was so angry to see them go. Thank you for this tribute.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Filming this was a special experience for me. 🙂
TVs changed so much during that time that I give Bob kudos for constantly adapting.
Thank you for posting this video. I loved that business. I grew up in the City, and I remember when it was on McCausland. I think that is where my grandparents purchased their TV. I was so glad when they moved to Manchester where I live. I took my TV and my parents' TVs to be repaired there. They were an honest and honorable company. They did very good work, and they always charged a reasonable price. No gouging ever. Personally, I don't care what any shop looks like. I know people with their own business, whose work places appear to be in horrible disorder, but they know exactly where every item is. The only thing I care about is the honestly and skill of the business and the low prices the business charges. It seems strange to say that one has fond memories of a TV repair shop, but I feel nostalgic about that business and all the other structures in Manchester which have been torn down. It is not only the building which has been converted into dust; the treasure is in the memories and history of it.
You're welcome! If anyone doesn't think it's strange to have fond memories of any shop, it's me. 😉 I said in the video this was "the epitome example of a shooting star filming opportunity, and your comment tells me you're the epitome example of someone I must have filmed it for! I guess you've seen the other films I made, I have no idea what if any future films I might make of Manchester Missouri, but thanks for watching and posting one of my favorite comments. Cheers
I find it very interesting that they were originally on McCausland and got robbed that many times. Personally after the third time I would've gotten out! But overall it's great to shed light on an industry that has quietly disappeared: television and electronics repair. And you can't blame the economy or any politician; that's the way of the world. Nicely done DS!
Thanks HM! 😁
Beautifully scripted video.
Thank you. 😊
R.I.P. *Hobo Shoestring* An American Legend riding the rails to heaven
I bought my 33" RCA tv new in 1997. It seems like it was yesterday. People laugh I dont have a tv from this century, but it brings me comfort.
And that TV will out live most of us. I still have my old Box sitting in it's place good as new from the 1980s
I like this channel. Its chill. Lowkey. DS strikes me as the kind of guy to secretly live in one of the water intake towers by the chain of rocks bridge. Sidenote, Chouteau Island has some abandoned streets from long flooded neighborhoods.
Thanks for watching and your very enjoyable comment. 🥰

I’d be curious if their prices have changed since you filmed this
In light of everything, I'd be suspicious if they didn't.... 🤔
Whenever I see “Dozenspeed feature presentation” I think of the old green-fonted FBI warnings at the start of VHS movies.
I just started that! I hope that means you like it, because I plan to make it pretty standard going forward, for a while at least. I wasn't yearning to come with something like that for a very long time, but I conceived it recently and think it's suitable and pithy. At least I'm not overly regretful for not thinking of it years ago, the cold open method is satisfactory to me too. TYFW 🙂
