The EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus is a new portable power station that EcoFlow just released. We were super excited to get this thing, and it performed really well. However, there was one big thing that we didn't like about this unit and we hope that EcoFlow addresses it ASAP. Regardless, we think the unit is a great option for either portable power or emergency back up situations.
** EcoFlow has listened to our feedback regarding the D3P overheating and is actively working on improving the issue.**

I'm having difficulties with my Delta Pro 3 and have shut it off for hours at a time as recommended by customer service. I'm still getting errors, and now they want me to send it back for a refurbished unit. which could take weeks. My advice is to look elsewhere since EcoFlow seems to be having many issues with their products.

Just an FYI…Just purchased the Ecoflow Delta 3 Plus with the intent of using the battery backup to run computers during the day. I had an issue with the system not charging properly. Called the Ecoflow tech support. They ran through some diagnostics and were very helpful. However they couldn’t solve the issue and had to escalate to the next tech support level. They then told me that Ecoflow would access my unit sometime in the next 24-48 hours. All well and good, but they can access your unit _anytime_ they want without your knowledge. If you have the system on your WiFi, then it could give them a back door to your WiFi network. I’m usually very generous with tech issues, and have been happy with the system overall, but this presents a serious security issue. Be sure that you research the company origin and make an informed decision on whether you want to potentially open up your network. They do have a Bluetooth option as well and you need the system connected to WiFi or Bluetooth use the app, which is how you control the system

About the dual solar inputs that you can't understand, consider that not everybody has the space or means or desire to combine all their solar panels into one mega array. Some people have panels that can't combine without risking damage to them. Some people might have one array on one side and another one with different voltages on another side to catch sun at different angles. Maybe somebody is using one port for solar, and the other port for a 12v car power to xt60 to charge their battery. Maybe one port they're using for solar, and the other port their have connected to a micro hydro generator. Maybe they've connected a small generator to a stationary bike or treadmill and they're using that to exercise while filling their battery with one port, and the other for some other source. There are so many reasons somebody may want dual solar inputs.
The X-Boost "fake news" stuff is really just you not understanding that other people do different things than you do. Not everybody needs to use their battery to charge laptops and phones and stuff. Some people use this to run well and sump pumps during emergencies, or run power tools out on a job site or when they just don't want to run cables across their yard while building a shed or whatever. Some people might want to power an hot plate while simultaneously making coffee while camping.
If you don't want to use the features, then don't use them. But that doesn't mean other people won't find those features incredibly useful.
    Don't be so simple minded.

      @michaelmorrison5280 2 месяца назад +3

Yup. Dual input suits my needs more than a single input of identical wattage would. I live near many exceptionally large pine trees and sun is spotty in the mornings/evenings/winter. A single large array would produce less for me than multiple smaller arrays due to shading.
If I lived somewhere else with the space and sunlight to set up a 1000-1200 watt array, the single port would be more convenient.
The dual inputs is part of what sold me on Ecoflow compared to the other competing brands.

Years ago before I found utube. I had 2 Delta Pro 3 ( DP3 ) units running in parallel with their 50 AMP hub bridge. One of the units was defective and caused a tremendous power surge which fried my HVAC thermostat and ECU, coffee maker, Air Purifier, GFCI outlets, and over a dozen outlet surge protectors and damaged twp. 200 AMP breaker panels. The damages have run into the thousands. One electrician who inspected my system told me that one of his customers had a similar problem with his EF Ultra except that he didn't have the unit hooked up to the home. I like the EF Delta 2 Max batteries, but the EF DP3 and the 50 AMP bridge is dangerous.

The main thing I don't like about this unit is the 40w parasitic draw on the inverter. Several reviewers have tried to dismiss this as standard for that size inverter, but it's not! The Bluetti AC200L 2400w inverter uses 13.5w and the Pecron E3600 3,600w inverter only uses 30w. 40 watts is very high for an 1,800 watt inverter. And paired with the smallish 1kwh battery, it's gonna use up a lot of power on nothing. If you turn on the AC inverter (with nothing plugged in) and leave it 24 hours, it will drain nearly the entire battery.

The additional cost is for the UPS, plus (hopefully) the better fan setup. The way I pack the Delta Mini in my car, the fans are on the side, so I have to be careful. The fans on the end will hopefully work better. I look forward to having quieter fans, since the unit runs my car refrigerator (in my camping Prius) and fan noise wakes me up. Ecoflow's sponsored videos are making me doubt some creators, several of which I'm a long term fan (JR I'm looking at you...). Some go so far as to delete comments that ask even mild questions or maybe ask for matching (perhaps sponsored) videos for Anker or some of the other key players. I've watched the comments disappear and had a couple of mine get deleted. On channels that I thought were honest and straight-forward. Very disappointing.

The storm guard feature is actually super cool and useful. Say you have it always plugged in (UPS style setup) but set it to only ever charge up to 80% capacity to preserve lifespan. Once a storm is detected as coming your way, it disables discharging (if you happened to be doing that at the time by disabling grid bypass) and starts charging at the highest rate (regardless what you set it to before) until it's full and then returns to your settings once the storm warning is over.
More importantly, I came here to see if this issue actually got solved / if the software got an update. Any one?

Two solar input ports is actually a really good thing, even if you don't use them for solar. A single 12v battery could have two pairs of wires, one pair tfor each "solar" port. Now rather than having being limited to 180 watt input (12v x 13 amps) you can have two 180 watt (12v x 13 amps) inputs, so 360 watts from a single 12v battery. No need for a clunky voltage booster, just two pairs of wires from a single 12v battery.

    • @aday1637

      @stephen_LaserLuster 2 месяца назад +1

@@aday1637 You could certainly get a battery and an inverter, but there is a big difference between a portable power station and just a battery with an inverter. A power station has the battery, large AC inverter, multiple USB ports both C and A type, UPS type capability, and an AC charger, a solar charge controller a very sophisticated battery monitor and an app to monitor and control it all remotely. And it's all built into a single well designed fully integrated package. So yes a power station costs more, but it does much much more. Adding an external external battery to a power station provides all the above features, but adds more capacity at a very low additional cost.

Have you tried this scenario? I'm thinking of getting this unit for furnace backup, especially for the 2 solar ports, so I can run 12V batteries to extend the discharge time. Initially I was thinking of using 2 x 12V batteries on each xt60 input, but then I thought about the exact same scenario you mentioned. In theory, a 12V 100Ah battery with split output would work, as it will only draw a max of 30A, which it should handle. Just curious if anyone ran this scenario and how the battery handled the draw over hours of use (any overheating?)

I've noticed overheating issues on several of my power stations and inverters, all different brands... but it seems that vendors prioritize making units quieter rather than making units robust. Heat isn't good for power electronics, even when in-spec.
I far prefer that the fans be running all the time at low levels and ramp up and down slowly as needed. Cycling of fans is far more annoying than having a continuous fan.
I see this issue on little car inverters, more serious inverters, and several power stations. I have an Oukitel (same OEM as FFPower) P2001 whos fan is very quiet, but doesn't run fast enough at medium loads and the unit overheats and shutsdown (doesn't happen at high loads, the fan is going full blast, but medium loads... it overheats). I have a little "300W" pure sine wave car inverter that lets its internal FETs exceed 100C (212F) before it turns on its fan, which is just plain stupid. And I have a number of WZRELB inverters whos fans aren't variable speed and cycle off and on all the time which is really annoying.
I've wound up opening up all of these units and hacking the fans. Either soldering a resistor in parallel with the temperature sensor contacts (3K to 10K depending, which makes the unit think it is hotter than it is and forces it to turn its fan on sooner), or literally locating 12VDC on their circuit boards and adding a super-quiet always-on fan in addition to the existing fans... which does a good job preventing the official fans from cycling on and off.
    -Matt

At the time of this comment it’s October 20th. The current listing for a delta 3+ on their site says preorder now for shipping in mid November.

I been in the market for one of these because my neighborhood's power grid is absolute doo doo beans and goes out every summer after a storm. Happened 4 summers in a row and i'm tired of having to call off work (work from home) because our grid stinks. So I did some digging and because our phone's spy on everything we do, I got an HSN ad for this unit. For a grand total of $650, you get the EcoFlow Delta 3 Power Station with 160W Solar Panel and Hand Truck. I priced each one of these items individually and its WAY more than that. I'm about 90% sure i'm gonna buy it as I would only need to power my router, charge some devices, and maybe connect a TV or indoor AC unit. Any input from current owners would be appreciated. 👍

I have one. It would be great except for two problems. It overheats in 30 minutes if you charge or discharge over 1000 watts. Also the inverter is a energy pig. It uses about 40 watts a hour. If you left it on, with ac inverter on, battery will go dead in about a day. If you can live with that, then it is good.

Yeah, I posted the overheating issue to EcoFlow's Reddit community. EcoFlow told me not to fast charge the unit before draining it. It's BS for sure.
Not sure I've noticed the fans slowing down under heavy load vs light load. They just don't spin very fast in general.
Once it overheats it doesn't want to do anything and doesn't want to spin its fans.
Some are speculating that the firmware is deliberately set to run the fans low until all of the reviewers are done reviewing it. When the reviews are done they'll increase the fan speed (and noise).

I don't think this can be fixed with an update, I had a 1000 CFM vornado fan pointed right in the intake of this device and it still sat around at over 124F while only pushing ~300 watts. As well as went into overheated shutdown at 135F when it starts to charge back up via the smart generator. I had to babysit this unit while out of power for 5 days after hurricane Milton. I resorted to trying to rub ice on the sides, but this thing doesn't even dissipate heat using the encloser it's in which I think is a stupid design. What I want to know is can you program the unit to use ac only under certian conditions. For example if the battery reaches 20% charge, turn on the ac to charge it back up. If over 75%, turn off ac and rely on solar only. Or after sunset, turn on ac to charge the unit or a certian time when power is cheaper?

I disagree that having the 3 x 2 prong receptacles offers more versatility. Actually, it is LESS versatility, they SHOULD have a ground prong. And there is zero reason not to include one on ALL receptacles. If they need room, they need to add the room, or rotate the receptacles. Anyone can cover all the receptacles with a power-brick that is oversized, so that point is not really useful.

I wish this would have come with a second port for two extra batteries or a wave 2 and extra battery.

Does the unit require an Internet connection (think Internet outage) to manage it ?

It does get very hot. I have a new D3 Plus. How hot is too hot for it to be? I charged the unit and let it sit overnight. The next day I did a 1000 watt discharge to empty. It took 52 minutes. When I checked the temperature it was 122 degrees. When I charge it, the D3+ also gets very hot anywhere from 110 to 125 degrees. I currently have a charge rate at 1000 watts just to test it out. I will normally charge at around 500 watts or so. My home is 67 degrees.
I cannot imagine how the unit would get in the summertime. Can it be damaged by getting this hot? As a side note: No matter how hot it gets you can barely hear the fan. The EF manual says to not store it above 113 degrees. This is way hotter than that.

@miguelfamily8991 Strange. I've been running mine ( only a few days old) with 1500-watt space heater and I've never even heard a fan come on.

Really appreciate your video but was there any update on the heating issue? Was that one problem resolved with an update?

they deemed our unit as faulty & sent us another one.. the fans act completely differently on the new one. So far it hasn't overheated or had any of the same issues! We will ad an update to the video so everyone else knows, thanks for the reminder!

@@TheSolarLab question.. I'm purchasing mine to take out of the country (Cuba), where there’s no internet. Unfortunately, I won’t have the chance to test the device before shipping or check if it needs any updates or new firmware. Do these devices typically require a firmware update right after purchase? or would you advise to wait longer to ship & make sure all is good before shipping? Thanks in advance for your help!

@ 99% of them don’t require an update! You should be good! Updates are made available, however it they work without it (this unit aside)

No attached lighting is a valid point, X-boost criticism is not. Yes, it's marketing but they are very clear with the intent of the feature. Heating is a major issue indeed. I'm waiting for the Delta 3 Max if there is in the future for the 2kWH native capacity and two battery ports where PowerStream/alternator charger and an extra battery can be connected at the same time.

Good grief, buy a 5-watt 12V LED dome lamp, add a 6' cord, and solder a barrel connector on it. When you turn on the thing, plug in the lamp and select DC. Light up the whole zone for $11.00.
