So you have an old pc that don't support Windows 11 and you want to continue to use that old pc? Well this is where Wubuntu fills the gap, with support up until 2027. Its a Windows 11 knockoff by Linux.

I still think Linux Mint is a better option than this, it's closer to Windows 10 layout wise. It's also a *reputable* option
No matter what you do, Linux is a different OS, and having a clone-ish UI doesn't fix that, especially since Windows 11 UI isn't the most popular to begin with.
Not to mention this lawsuit from Microsoft written all over it since they're selling licenses...

They might not be breaking any rules. As long as they aren't using Microsoft's assets, recreating a GUI to resemble another, I think, is allowed. Linux distros can be sold. They don't have to be free. For $35 it seems like a decent price for people who want a familiar interface on older hardware. My concern is that Linux including Ubuntu will move to requiring updated more secure hardware. If that happens, then this could end up as a dead branch.

Wubuntu right now ships with 22.04 and a 6.2 kernel which is nice. The installation is straight forward with one caveat: The distro team is based in Brazil, and it appears that the language and keyboard settings need to be changed during the installation process. For Linux users in the US who are used to just click through without paying attention since everything defaults to US settings anyway for Ubuntu based distributions, this might come as a surprise after the first reboot when the keyboard seems to be misbehaving and has to be adjusted in the settings. Otherwise it's really a well done UI clone, with all the tools necessary to actually run Windows native applications if that's required. Whether the distribution will survive a copyright challenge is a different question, however the Lindows/Linspire case seems to indicate that it would be difficult for Microsoft to get a cease and desist ruling in the US.

I don't advise user switching from Windows to try this. Other Linux users on here who have more experience in Linux have said that LinuxFX from which this is based had infected some PC's with Malware so it's not secure. Also the fact that they are charging so much money to use this doesn't sound right. If you are looking to try Linux for the first time then use the main distros like Linux Mint or one of the Ubuntu spins like Kubuntu or Ubuntu Mate. At least with them you know who you are dealing with.

Because I need two working versions of "Authy" this solved my problem. Especially as I have in on a USB connected SSD drive 250GB and I can boot from it when required. Yes bought a licence for $35. Everything is working perfectly. So it enables me to use "Authy" Linux version. And learn about Linux as a side issue. Highly recommended for more experienced IT people. This is not recommended for novices. As extra skills and a lot of patience is required. I'm glad to see those who write code are creating competitive alternatives. For those who like to write code, which I do not, keep at the great work. Who knows? If you dress up linux to look exactly like windows people will think they are the same thing - this is not a good thing! Running onedrive though wine is one of the most stupidly risky ideas I have ever heard! People will try to run exes like windows and will have a terrible experience To be fair though, this looks scarily accurate. I would recommend that new users try something with the windows layout - like cinnamon or kde; but not something that copies everything about windows.

For example could one install ESET as I use it on my Windows machines finding it far superior to any other suites I have tried?? Th other thing about the Linux systems that I have used in the past is that annoying and confusing use of the sudo command is that still going to be the norm for Wubuntu? I think that $35 for the licence is really quite reasonable compared to what we pay for the Microsoft product. I have used Ubuntu in the past but found it not as good as the Mint Cinnamon OS which I have a hard drive loaded with on my old Sandy Bridge build and again it is good that one does not have to worry about hardware restrictions.

Or must you strip out windows 10 before installing it? Second question can I download wubuntu now while its free and save to install later? Oh and 3rd thing just thought of - is the Wine app already built-in to it or is it fetched separately? Thanks

I'm pretty sure they are not charging for the Distro but for the support.
Anyway there isn't much point getting Wubuntu because you can theme any Distro to look like Windows or for that matter Mac OS, but its a free world when it comes to Linux so people can do what they want unlike other operating systems.

Funny stories they said the same thing about Lindows one thing was it never made it to court instead Microsoft ended up pay them ton money to setter out court because there was a 99% chance Microsoft was going to lose the word windows as is generic name if the judge had sided with OpenSystems LLC this is what would happen if Lindows had stuck to their guns and kept fighting. Source of deep in mind you're talking about copywriting infringement on what the images if that's the case then maybe microsoft should remove it from the open source code for linux I thought it was just a mimic Windows 11 is not exactly the same as Windows 11

No one should have trouble using Cinnamon if you've ever used Windows. To me the purpose of moving to Linux was to get *away* from Windows.

In my experience If you over mod Linux then in time things break. The update repository is probably Ubuntu and they will not take mods in to account when updates/security patches are provided. Also Linux is not Windows so Ex Windows user will find some frustrations. As mentioned below I believe that Zorin is the way to go if your are moving to Linux. Zorin is not a Windows clone but the functionality is very close and in my experience it is a solid distro based on Ubuntu and Gnome.

I tried Wubuntu and it wasn't anything special .. and the fact that some OS features are locked (so caller Power Toys) and you have to pay extra $35 to unlock them, left a bit bad taste in my mouth .. even Windows 11 is free. Well I could donate to support the developers, but I'm not going to give in to blackmail so to speak :))

It cracks me up that people don't want Windows spying on them, but they use Edge, which sends all that information off to Microsoft. Edge, Cortana, etc are the components in Windows that sends that stuff back to Microsoft, which is why it is nearly impossible to uninstall those programs. So everything you do on Edge, regardless of the operating system, Microsoft still sees all of that.
I might try it if Microsoft doesn't stop shoving things down my throat. I don't think I would pay for it. I would also advise looking to see where the internet traffic is going. It could even be a scam. But if it turns out to not be, and push comes to shove, more so that it is, with Microsoft's insanity, I might use it. In general though, Linux hasn't been able to do what I want and I don't like using command lines and terminals.

This distro is garbage... It's sketchy af too. They had security flaws in their activation system that would allow a bad actor to grab IPs of users stored in plain text on their activation server. Their response? Add a snarky jab at the forum/website (i forgot) that reported on this into that file. Also check the system resource usage... A benefit of linux is supposed to be the excellent efficiency but this is basically windows level of bloat. Check the network activity too! At least in another video I saw, it was CONSTANTLY pinging something and then receiving information at regular intervals. Probably got more telemetry than windows.
*DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH TO LINUX*
