This is a quick tutorial on how to set up the best settings for the Dolphin emulator in Batocera. It will also teach you how to set up your controllers in Dolphin.

Ive been trying to figure out how to do this on PC and on my Batocera . I got about half way on my one with the Batocera . Thanks so much for this . Got Punch out working perfectly :)

When I open up the dolphin emulator on the back end, the app is very large, it is very tough to get to different settings with it blown up so much, is there a way to zoom out a bit or up the res to get it to be seen better?

Thank you for saving us so much time with setting up the Dolphin Controller settings, this task can be extremely tricky when you are new to batocera. I was trying to configure the controller for the Naomi emulator form using similar steps like the one you provided us, but when I go to Flycast, I do see any of the games, so the bios folder for the emulator....Can you please create a similar video explaining how to use controller profiles or something similar for the Naomi emulator/Flycast?

If I recall correctly, Flycast is using Retroarch. From Retroarch, you should be able to set profiles for your games. There are tutorials on RUclips for Retroarch. When I'm done with the main emulators for Batocera, I will add your suggestion to my list of things to do.

I have a problem, I do the settings just like you but the games don't start. I try something else through dolphin, I select volkan , my video card and it doesn't work. neither through the dolphin menu nor through batoсer .Can you give me some advice?
I wanted to ask since you mentioned it when on the dolphin forums. Where do we place custom texture packs for dolphin. Would like to know for other emulaters like n64 as well.
I really don't know. I would have to play with it to figure it out. I will add that in my list of future tutorials. You might also ask that question in the Batocera forums.
Great video, have you had any issues exiting the emulator? I've only just started using Dolphin and I'm running it on V31 of Batocera, a lot of the games run great but hitting alt+F4 or using the hotkey and Start button both exit to a blank white screen, and I have to shut down the computer to get back to the menu.
It shouldn't be doing that. If you press Alt F4 twice or Hot key and Start button twice it will do that. Make sure you only press it once and wait until it closes out.
@@BatoceraNation I've just tested that now, I only pressed it one time and it still goes to a blank white screen. If I launch the games through the Dolphin Config app, I can press the hotkey and it goes back to the Dolphin menu instead. Are you using V31 and not having this issue?
@@matthewjames8918 I'm getting the white screen on all gamecube games only when exiting games. Seems to be a dolphin emulator issue, I'm running batocera v32.
Batocera change my settings automatically when I start the game from batocera. Can't play. When I start the game from dolphin, it works and it keeps my settings. 4:21 Properties, Editor, Propeties is empty in my case.
It worked now.😊 I have to type in the controlls in properties for every single game. For gamecube this: 4:21 and for wii this: 5:49 Thank you😊 Your video was very helpful. I have this problem for about an hour or something. But now I fixed it.😊
I’ve had no issues with Roms until it came to GameCube roms. Can anyone inform me of the best place to find ISO’s or how to properly convert NKit’s to work with Dolphin? I’ve had no luck. Thanks

Furthermore, since Nkit are iso's, I'm wondering if you change the extension of your Gamecube roms from game.nkit to game.iso and see if it will work?
Everytime I launch a game thru dolphin (GameCube in my case) I have no way to get out of the game and back to Batocera, on either keyboard/Mouse or on my controller without just turning off my PC. Any ideas how to set up a home button? It works on every emulator but this one
Is there a way of connecting nunchucks using a real wiimote? Due to using a real wiimote, the configure option is greyed out 🤔 thanks

I want to play street fighter vs SNK , but dont wNt to use the controller but wanted to use the arcade's joystick. Is it possible? Thank You
I honestly don't know since I've never tried it (and don't own an arcade machine). However, It should work. Press the F1 key, go to the Dolphin emulator, and try to configure it from there as mentioned in the tutorial. Let me know if it works since I'm curious!

First thank you so much for these videos .. second I'm trying to set my Wii controller and inside the dolphin app all of my roms aren't showing up even tho they're in the roms folder how do I fix this so I can set my controller ? Thanks in advance
In your roms folder in Wii, look for the info.txt file. Make sure those rom extensions match yours. Then exit it. Load up Batocera, go into the Main menu by pressing space bar, select Update Games Lists, and try again.

I have a question. Im fairly new to batocera and dolphin and bought me a preloaded version of batocera with dolphin on it.
But my dolphin advanced settings does not have as many options as yours. In my version are missing some options like anti aliasing etc... how does it come?
I have updatet it to the newest version though.
Its possible its using an older version of Batocera as you said, you can see what version in information.
However Id be careful of updating to newer version of Batocera. (On a pre build)
Cause with pre build sometimes system files are modded/customized, like for eg it may have added systems that Batocera doesnt yet officially support and when you update it its possible it may break or crash the system.
However if you've already updated and have no issues then maybe you were lucky.

Hi! Do you know why when I start a WII game (Sonic All Star) and with 4 controllers (2 Xbox360 & 2 PS4), the emulator says "Wiimote controller discontected by emulated software", I can't play with more than 1 player :( Thanks for your help!

I've installed all bios but batocera is saying I'm missing the Gamecube bios
Why?
You dont really need bios files to run gamecube, even their wiki says that.
I think they only added it in v38 for nostalgia sake. Some people may like to see the gamecube bios boot splash. 😊
So in the advanced system setting for gamecube you can skip the bios boot option if you want.
And if you dont want the 'missing bios' nag message when you launch a game you may have to disable the bios check setting.
But if you want to keep the bios check setting enabled AND not get the missing bios message then youll have to add those gamecube bios files.
Is there any way to emulate the Wii Menu Screen where you on a real Wii would launch games and channels like the Mii Channel where you create your Miis to use in games like Mario Cart so you don't have to be stuck as a guest?
Not possible. Batocera is limited for creating a Wii Menu Screen.
Okay so I’m having a problem with dolphins not saving the settings, when I play within dolphin emulator controls are fine but if I exit dolphin to go back to the main wii menu and play a game from the Wii menu my control settings do not stay, how do I save my setting on dolphin to carry over after I’ve exited dolphin ?? Thanks

Hi I'm having trouble with gamecube iso being read. At first everything was working fine(and still is for the 4 games I haven't deleted). The last iso that I got working before this started happening was Hulk. The first iso that started not being read was Smash bro melee. What I really don't understand is how Mario Kart double dash isn't "reading". That's a game I had already played and deleted(but kept the original zip files so I could play it again later) and now "can't be read" after unzipping and converting from nkit to iso again. I re-installed both nkit processor and 7-zip and I still have this issue. I have 4 gbc isos being read and played fine so what is going on??
I have no idea of what's going on there. Try posting your problem on Batocera's official forum. Someone there might know what is going on.
For some reason, when I open up the Dolphin settings, only a small fraction of my games appear on the list. I've tried renaming the files and made sure to start the game, yet it still doesn't populate the list. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
On your roms folders where you store your GameCube or Wii games, there is an info text file. Double click on that. That will let you know which ROM extensions it will accept. Make sure your roms extensions are in the correct format.
@@BatoceraNation Thanks for the reply. I have no issue inside Batocera, all my games are listed. It's just in dolphin. I'm trying to get mario galaxy to run with custom controller setup like this video showed. My problem is that galaxy is not in the list where I need to right click.

When i have configured My controllers in The dolphin emulator settings and Then exit out to batocera it wont work, it has "forgotten" My settings and The controllers dont work at all. They work if I start The game directly in dolphin emulator... Have I missed something?
Look at the video starting at 2:48. You can create custom controls.

Try again with the latest Beta 33 version. I believe they may have fixed it. You can update to Beta from within Batocera.
@@BatoceraNation unfortunately The problem still remains with that update. Controls just wont be remembered When exiting to batocera and When starting The game from there. Beleive I just have to be patient Then and wait for another update. The problem seems to be common of what I have read in different forums.

What file extension are they?
Check the info txt file inside the gamecube rom folder for allowed extensions.
And did you try both the stand alone Dolphin and the Libretro core Dolphin emulator options?
Anyone know what the easiest Wii games to emulate would be that also use a controller?
I did try Mario Kart Wii but even if I disable some of the graphic enhanced settings, turn the performance setting on and use lowest res output setting I still get those little pauses now and again, its not terrible but enough to make me wanna leave the game off my build. So any other Wii games that should run better? And use a controller.

And that link and its comments are 7 years old.
Only a handful of games mentioned there as well.
Now I know it may still apply but with the advances in Dolphin since that time I would think perhaps many other people would have more of an idea and have used Dolphin since then and perhaps other games would run way better now too.
Was also hoping perhaps someone here would comment that has first hand experience and testing many wii games with Dolphin.

I have a problem with dolphin, everytime I exit the game batocera just crash, it get stuck on a white screen and I have to turn off the laptop and turn it on again to be able to get into batocera again :c I'm not sure what should I do to fix this
What graphics card are you using? Have you tried Opengl vs Vulcan? Do you have any trouble exiting other emulators?
@@BatoceraNation sorry for the late reply, youtube seem to notify me stuff after a week, so I'm using an idea pad with ryzen3 and integrated graphics card, I was using opengl but changed to vulkan when I saw your comment c: , and the problem doesn't happen with other emulators, but I think I got to solve it by just being patient and press two time alt+f4, the first time would show the white screen, then the second time take me back to batocera, when I got the error the first time I smashed the esc button but didn't worked, only by pressing alt+f4 while the screen is white is what worked for me, and thanks for the reply :D
On Batocera V31, When "emulate wiimote" option turn to "AUTO" or "OFF" , dolphin crash at exiting from wii gaming .
When Batocera 32 comes out this week, update it and find out if it got fixed.
To use GC controller for wii gaming , to move game image file from "wii" folder to "gamecube" folder .
Then , default controller is set GC's on wii , and dolphin does not crash at exiting .

after loop watching this video 7 times to make sure im not doing anything wrong ,my games properties just will not show any kind of controller profiles that i have saved.If i launch the game from dolphin itself in "applications " controller works fine but as soon as i go and launch it from batocera ... nothing .
Select the game in Batocera by holding down the A button. Look for settings for the game. Then look for controller profile. Experiment with select on and off.

How come Batocera in Raspberry Pi doesn't show up Gamecube folder?
Not powerful enough to run Gamecube games yet.
@@BatoceraNation So most of psp, n64, ps2 won't run well on raspberry pi yet? The only way to do that is to run on a mini PC or a PC then it can run nearly everything?

For Gamdcube games, not all games will do 16:9. Also, press your Start button within the Emulator's menu and you'll see the settings for Dolphin. Look for game ratio and set it to 16:9.

Dolphin is rather weak right now. When the Vulcan drivers become finalized for Pi4, it might be possible.
Thank you for great Vids. When I connect my wii mots via bluetooth passthrough the connection breaks off after 1-2 minutes. When I use an emulated connection works stabile.But is very very hard to Connect. Anyone know this Problem?
Unfortunately I haven't played with a real Wiimote on Batocera.
U may need to configure Dolphin via F1 Menu
