- At one point in time, Dakotaz was one of Fortnite's biggest streamers. He peaked as the 9th most followed on Twitch, and had no problems gaining over 30,0000 concurrent viewers during his Fortnite Livestreams. However, in recent times, this number has dropped to an average of around 1,000 concurrent viewers, while his RUclips channel has lost around 200,000 subscribers since its peak in early 2019 over 2 years ago. Was the cause something more than the simple decline of Fortnite's popularity?

This is one of the "ex fortnite" streamers I want the least to see go. Dakotaz voice and pressence just demands attention and he is always super relaxed about pretty much anything. The dad figure there to help you at the cost of his own growing problems. Its sad, and I really don't want to see him fall

Actually DK has an extremely loyal community. He’s made a shit ton on money and doesn’t have to grind. He can play what he wants when he wants and that’s HUGE for his mental health. He’s back on FN and he’s truly entertaining because he’s having fun. He’s not of these streamers that gets mad when he dies or makes excuse… he’s at his best right now. You should check him out.

I watched Dakotaz briefly in 2020 and every time I watched his stream he would literally respond to every message. He was so damn wholesome with his fans. Unlike others who get angry, he would always keep a chill vibe.
Only reason I stopped watching him was because i was never a Fortnite guy. I actually thought he blew up with Among Us, as I often saw him in massive lobbies with Valkyrae, Disguised Toast and OTV.
Like I genuinely thought most people liked him during the Among Us phase and things died down when the game died down. Had no clue people felt he was just hopping on a trend. I dunno. He was or pretty great at Among Us and was enjoyable to watch.
All I know is, he is a really good dude. He has a killer “radio voice” and it would be such a waste if his career ends. He deserves the success :/
I really hope he continues to stay strong with his mental health and his viewership grows eventually.

I found him in his fortnite days. Actually during the time the video said he became big. I use to watch him every morning before I went to bed because I worked night shifts. I soon stopped cause I got sick of watching fortnite. How you described him was perfect. He was always amazing to watch kind hearted and loved his viewers and appreciated them soo much. Seeing this kinda broke my heart. This man deserves more than this.
man i relate so much to not leaving the house for 8 months streight, when i suffered with horrible social anxiety and depression i stayed indoors for years only leaving the house on rare occasions and having pannic attacks in the car on the way to the shops even when i knew i wasnt going to leave the car when i arrived with my family, depression and anxiety are a fucking horrible demon to fight, godbless to you dakotaz :(

I think it’s great he raises awareness on these topics tbh. The one thing most of these content creators have in common when they fail is mental issues. Pretty sad hope they get help

DK is literally my comfort streamer. He's such a genuine person which caused me to watch him nonstop from 2017 when Fortnite came out and I even stayed for Fall Guys, Among Us, Valorant and even now. I'm never leaving this man's side even if he quits streaming. Dk will always have my heart man.

I won't lie. I know DK from Among Us, from 5up's streams and I absolutely adored him when he was on. I didn't know a thing about him other than the fact that he was hilarious and seemed such a down-to-earth, genuine, and kind hearted guy. From what I've learned so far about him, I'm genuinely sad that his channels have died, he deserves a boom I think.
Dk and Cdn were two of a few streamers/creators who were huge to me at the time of Fortnite’s mainstream rise. It breaks my heart seeing what he has gone through.

He’s really rude and smug sometimes. I got blocked on his stream for “defending” a hater when all I said was “it doesn’t really make sense to stoop to his level”. Then dakotaz proceded to block me and call me a piece of shit. I only said what I said because both him and his chat mocked and shittalked this “hater” on his stream that said something along the lines of “you’re boody at this game”, which is a dumb troll comment that should just be straight up ignored. I realize trolls and haters are annoying but I found it so offputting how dakotaz and his stream proceeded to mock him and make fun of his channel and channel name, left a really bad taste in my mouth. This is a man in his thirties that has been streaming for 10 years, he should know how to control his temper and not respond like that. I’ve seen him act rude and smug before on his streams but this was something else, I watched this and just gasped.

i love the positive note at the end, usually commentary channels just cover the drama and make jokes but you actually lay out the information in an objective, thought-provoking way and then genuinely wish the best for the people you cover. big respect and subbed!

10:46-11:03 That speech right there hits really hard, it's very deprecating how these trends pratically control the algorithm on modern RUclips and how it forces content creators to constantly change even if they're not ready or no willing to, thus having to risk their revenue if they decide to stay out of it. When I was a little younger I dreamed of becoming a content creator and showing the world what I enjoyed, in search of maybe a community that would share the same tastes, but perhaps that dream was left behind alongside the time RUclips actually followed their slogan: Broadcast Yourself.
Bro I remember watching this guy a couple years ago all the time and seeing his incredible gameplay and funny content. So sad to see this man fall off in the content creation game. At least he didn't completely vanish and go anonymous all over the internet. I really hope he comes back one day

I remember watching DK everyday from school when he uploads. I wasn't the first viewer but I was in the 100,000 viewer mark.
DK's uprise in 2018-2021 was if not one of the best, it was the best uprise ever. Seeing him, Daequan, Myth, TFue, Ninja, and Hamlinz play was such euphoria.
The series 'Rescue Private Ryan' was my favorite one along with the weekly highlights.
As someone who only knew about DK from Among Us, I really disagree with the notion that he didn't care for the game and only played Among Us because it was the "popular game". You could tell in the morning lobbies that he really enjoyed the game and all of the people he played with. I think the big problem with his Among Us content is that while he was absolutely hilarious, he wasn't particularly good at the game and mostly tried to be funny rather than play seriously, so often ended up making really good Among Us content for everyone else in the lobby. DK being hilariously wrong is great for a Disguised Toast, Hafu, or 5up video, but isn't that appealing as a Dakotaz video.
I remember and loved dakotaz back in 2018 when fortnite was still relatively new. I stayed with him all the way past his 1 million sub milestone and even got his merch for that milestone but then i lost interest at fortnite at the time but when i did come back to fortnite i never went back to dakotaz but i never forgot about how much i loved him but seeing this makes past me tremble.
i only found dk through among us so i was never around for the fortnite days, but it just breaks my heart whenever you go onto one of his videos and the comments are flooded with “you fell off” etc. i’m fairly certain he’s aware of his decline in popularity, but i don’t think he needs to be reminded of it every time he posts a video. i cant imagine it helping his mentality at all.
people need to let him just enjoy making the content he wants to make, whether it does well or not, his happiness should be what’s most important.
at the end of the day, i just wish for the best for him, with such a great personality as his, he deserves it.

He made me smile when it mattered when i was in my deep depression. I live a good life now and dont fight with depression as often as i used to.

It's crazy that I used to watch DK every day and when I fell off Fortnite and stopped watching I figured he would eventually move on to different, better games and never realized his stream career was dying and by the time I remember and came back to check him out again he was gone... my house burnt down in March of 2020. He was posting not long after that about some of this stuff so i replied to a tweet and he actually spoke to me about some of the stuff going on in my life. He is an incredibly kind person and dealing with some heavy stuff on his. Great video.

Dakotaz was by far my favorite gaming streamer and he was always my go-to when for live-stream when a new fortnite season came out, before fortnite went south. It was always a good video when he would play teams with Ceez and HD. So sad to see him have so many troubles, but after watching this video I want to go watch some DK.

It’s a trip to be surprised about what you reminisce over. I very strongly remember always seeing a dakotaz segment in every fortnite clip video I’d ever watched, always hitting some amazing snipe and yelling “we hit those!” And to be honest, I personally wasn’t super into his channel. But man, seeing something so present in the community completely disappear, hits me right in the feels thinking about it. Probably has more to do with missing the feel of the old fortnite than anything but same difference I suppose

This is actually really heartbreaking. I remember watching him (when I still cared a tiny bit about Fortnite) and seeing how upbeat he was.
I always thought I wanted to do streaming as a job, but even as a "casual" internet user I've come to hate the internet, so I can't even imagine what streamers go through. I'm already annoyed if I get into 1 argument on Twitter because some random just couldn't resist the urge to insert their opinion, so I can't even imagine what streamers go through.
As someone who has been watching DK for years his highs and lows were so obvious to me. When he first returned from France he was so negative…I’m not knocking him at all because I know it wasn’t intentional. But I was suffering from major depression and watched him as an escape. I had to stop watching him for a while.
When you suffer from depression, instinctively you hide it. You try to appear to happy and “normal” but it had gotten to a point where he couldn’t hide it anymore.
Early 2020 my recovery from major depression started and at some point his did to. I am so proud of him and where he is now. He seems happy and fulfilled and he has the right mindset. As long as he focuses on what makes him happy he’ll be okay.
I’m truly happy for DK…
