Rodman with the greatest defensive performance of all time on Shaq. Rodman at 6'7 -220 lbs tops, completely repeatedly shutting down a prime Shaq - it was beyond words amazing. The worm was absolutely incredible, He was all heart, Guts, intelligence, and athleticism. He is in my top favorite players of all time. When he was with the Bulls- you could not take your eyes off him and that was with Jordan on the floor.

From ‘92-98 Shaq averaged 27 points 12 rebounds on 58% shooting. Shaq averaged 27 and 13 on 55% shooting against Rodman including a game where Shaq gave the Pistons 41 and 21. Rodman didn’t stop Shaq outside of March 30th 1993. 😂 Magic just weren’t as good as the Bulls or Pistons. And Rodman’s rebounding was insane. But defensively, Rodman didn’t stop him.

The points and rebounds you ve mentioned are 80% against Luke Longley or other centers. ( I suppose that in other games you mention not only Rodman guarded Shaq, numbers are against the team , not exclussively against Dennis.). Thats my opinion, i may be wrong.

Players at the time was afraid of Shaq, Rodman was looking forward to it. Dennis was always extra focus playing against him. He and maybe Ben Wallace was the only 2 guys that really can say they ate Shaq's lunch in the paint.
Low center of body mass as well as being unbelievably strong made it possible for those two men to battle it out with Shaq.

Heavy-duty fouling on both sides! The way Rodman played ONeal reminds me of how Boston played Wilt Chamberlain. They double-teamed him in the half court and then threw a third guy at him when they got a defensive rebound to stop him from running down the court. They figured they had 18 fouls to give on him. Also, the refs didn't call many fouls against Wilt because that was the only way to defend him. I think something similar happened with Rodman and Shaq.
