    Heres how i behave when i order a ride: Im ready before they even get to pickup point, i dont make them wait, i sit in the back, i say hi and ask about their day and leave it at that unless they choose to converse, my destination is already in the system, i dont tell them where to go, they can take the route the system tells them and i have no problem, i say thanks at the end and tell them to have a great day.

      I’ve never ridden Uber or Lyft because it’s illegal where I live but after reading your comment I’m wondering “Wouldn’t everyone behave like you do?” I mean, it’s literally the way you should behave. It’s scary that you have to actually tell people how they should act during a car ride. I remember my dad having to do that with my 4 year old sisters when I was a kid. You would think when you grow up you would know how to behave in a car on a trip.

    • @nitrocreed
      @nitrocreed 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, similar for me. In Singapore they don't have Uber, only Grab. But quite similar. I'm too nervous to book a ride unless I'm already waiting. I'd rather wait than make the driver wait even though it's fine to make the driver wait up to 5 mins. Like usually there's a 5 min+ wait plus another 5 min when the driver reaches. Like all I gotta do is tie my shoes, lock up, and go down which would only take 2-3 mins. However I sit in the front bc I really hate sitting in the back of any car. I don't think they care. I just greet them with a casual hey. I think in America they do the whole "say my name" think. Like some drivers will only unlock their car after they get confirmation that that's the passenger they're supposed to pick up. In my experience so far no driver has asked me to confirm. Like for me I just double check the car color and license plate before getting in. It would be so embarrassing if I get into some random car. With Grab you need to enter your destination before booking a ride. With Uber, I don't think so. Also some of them try to confirm the destination, some don't. With the route, it's already set by Google Maps. I don't have any issues with that. I've seen some videos where passengers insist the driver go their route. Like I'm pretty sure the driver wants to drop you off asap. Chill. I do talk to some drivers but usually about their experience working as a grab driver and food. I just drop the conversation based on the vibes I'm getting from them. Some drivers are quite talkative, some aren't. I've seen plenty of videos where people act like it's their car and the driver is their chauffeur. And I'm over here almost freezing to death but too scared to ask the driver if he could turn the air conditioning down. And kinda scared to ask if i could adjust the seat. And when I'm at my destination, pay, thank them and leave. Sometimes when I have a 'open drink' like bubble tea, fast food, I'd finish it first before booking a ride. Or I'd call them immediately after I get confirmation that they're my driver and ask if it's fine to bring it. I really feel bad for drivers that have to deal with a lot of shit. Too many passengers(like purposely booking regular Uber instead of Uber XL), troublesome drunk passengers, scammers, people that insist to go their way, people that treat your car like trash, people hooking up, annoying people, stinky people, getting 1 star, false reports, etc. You know damn well how much the fare is going to be. If you think it's too expensive, take a bus or something. These people are working. They are doing this for a living. They don't do this for fun. It's just low. And you're paying for a ride. To bring you from 1 place to the other. They don't have to provide you with anything else. No free water? 1 star. No phone charger? 1 star. No aux cord? 1 star. Chill. Just stop being so fucking low. When I was in Malaysia, I booked grab using Malaysian card bc I didn't want to break my note. There was a problem with the card. It was a new card and transactions to non Malaysian companies weren't authorized yet. I only realized the payment didn't go through when the driver had left. I wasn't sure what to do. I received a notification from grab saying that I'm not allowed to pay via an online method anymore, only cash unless I solve the payment first. Which I'm really confused about. They don't care that I didn't pay? How will the driver get paid? Like I could just ignore it and just pay cash on future rides. It was so hard to contact Grab's Customer Service because they just kept directing me to the help centre. i needed to speak with a live agent. I finally managed to submit a ticket in app. I finally managed to solve it by using online banking to transfer some money into GrabPay account and they deducted the fare amount from there. So yay, it got solved. But like, I'm still so confused. They were like "Just pay by cash next time". Like I think they shouldn't allow me to book any rides/order food/pay using GrabPay unless I solve the payment first. And also how would the driver get paid? I could just easily ignore it but I'm not the kind of person to do that. That shit would haunt me forever and the guilt would just eat me alive. Just be nice, don't be fussy, pay the correct amount, and leave. It's not that hard, really.

      @LiftRunFight 7 лет назад +5

      Oscar Perez what's the surge?

    • @VKPlays
      @VKPlays 7 лет назад +38

      Surge is Uber's way of jacking up pricing based. So if say for example the normal rate for a 10km trip is like $12, when surge pricing is in effect, they put a multiplier on it, so the surge pricing would be like 3.25X the normal rate. It happens a lot in busy cities right around when bars close, new years, etc.

    • @kreebow12
      @kreebow12 7 лет назад +21

      lmfao where do you get your info? the surge doesnt multiply the cancellation you idiot.
      Surge
      rates are charged as a multiplier of X.X. For example, a rider in a
      surging area may see and accept a surge multiplier of 1.3x or 2.1x. This
      surge multiplier applies to the base, time, and distance of the trip
      fare. Cancellation fees, tolls, and per-trip surcharges are not subject
      to surge pricing.
      directly from the uber website XD shut the fuck up and learn your shit before you spew garbage

    • @operez1990
      @operez1990 7 лет назад +92

      kreebow12 let me rephrase that because yes I may have mislead with bad info. The trip looks like it was started by the driver. This would mean whatever distance was covered in that brief moment will be multiplied by the surge. However you are correct in surge not multiplying a canceled trip before the driver picks them up. You need to relax because getting too aggressive from a poorly worded comment.

    Uber should be sued for allowing folks to cancel mid ride. You pay a cabbie you don't have the option. In NYC for example they have in the yellow cabs a box you put cash into like a pop machine and your change comes through a bank teller drawer from the driver in front. The cab does not move until the driver sees payment has been made on his screen.

  • @BitwiseMobile
    @BitwiseMobile 6 лет назад +6

    Uber needs to change the rules around cancelling rides once started. I think drivers should only have the right to cancel a ride mid trip. The pax entered a contract when they accepted the ride for a specific amount of money (up front pricing works like that), so by cancelling in order to save money means they are technically in violation of said contract. I would have done the same. Question though - if a pax cancels mid trip, do you get paid for the trip made so far? That would be BS if they could cancel a block from their destination on a 40 minute ride only to shaft you for the entire price of the ride. I certainly hope the app doesn't support those kinds of antics.

    • @OBmaster

    Uber sounds like a real piece shit company to work for, how dare they even allow a cancel trip feature for the customers whilst the vehicle is enroute! They need to change that feature quick smart, if a trip is booked and the customer has been picked up the only change the customer should be able to make is to extend the trip. All other changes should be disabled, as the customer could ask you to stop half way, but should still pay for the entire booked trip. And ratings should be disabled if a trip is altered in any way. You guys need to form a Union and get this shit sorted!! I feel sorry for the guy 2 hours before NEW YEARS DAY, on NYE and he gets screwed over by a bunch of wankers!

My first day I had someone try to scan me by going to her first destination then canceling the ride but still wanted to go to her second destination. I sat in the parking lot until she "figured it out" on her end and requested a ride again. She offered to pay me cash and I said, "Sorry, that's not how it works". She didn't talk to me the rest of the way. Didn't hurt my feelings.

    2:48 the passenger in the back asks the other passenger if they called an Uber.
    The other passenger shakes his head No. They realize they are hijacking someone else's Uber ride, and are like oh well. That's why they are stalling as long as they can.
    Best practice I have found is to ask the rider: What's your driver's name? And yes, never drive to another location that is not on the app. Don't let them direct where to go. Stop and wait for address update.

Some times there was the fear of being attacked or not paid or both. Dealing with drunks and unruly pigs that have no regard for your vehicle or anyone else. That was in the days before all this hi tech stuff was around. No sat nav etc. Cabbies, ubers and the rest deserve a medal for putting up with the shit they have to deal with.

He then said he was going to cancel so I could get another driver. But instead of canceling he said he completed the ride and charged me $8.50 for a $6.40 ride. But I think it really backfired on him. I gave him a 1 star rating and contacted Uber and let them know. They seen that I requested a second pickup at the same location only a minute after he said he dropped me off at my destination. Uber refunded the charge and I hope the driver lost his contract.
