  • On March 22, 2024 around 1:30 p.m., Troopers from the Ohio Highway State Patrol stopped a rented box truck, with out of state registration, traveling east on Interstate 70 for executing an unsafe lane change, following too closely to the vehicle ahead of it and for not using headlights while driving in the rain. What started as a routine traffic stop for the troopers quickly escalated into a huge discovery.

I used to work for a lab company where I delivered specimens across the Midwest, often driving rental cars. On average, I was driving 500 miles a day. During that time, Ohio highway troopers stopped me several times for speeding, but they never brought a drug-sniffing dog or pulled me over for any minor infractions. From my experience, I believe that the drug busts we see are likely the result of coordinated operations between federal agencies.

Since these cases may possibly still be pending in State or Federal Jurisdictions, it is extremely reckless and dangerous for you to post unedited negotiations with law enforcements trying to recruit informants or CI's. I was in law enforcement in a similar manner for 28 years. These types of busts are sacrificial. The drug runners contact the police with "inside information" about the truck in question. This type of bust gives the police a morale boost and positive media attention, and in a way serves as a bribe.
