the problem with metal riffs is...the ones you most want to play are the hardest ones :(

songs sound harder than they actually are, now obviously it's still a challenge but dont let the sound of it fool you. chances are it's probably really easy.

Try other riffs from the same album as well, they're really chill to play and sound heavy as hell.
Another song with a similar part that’s also really fun to play is Marilyn Manson- Target Audience starting at around 2:35.
All the transitions are smooth and sounds like it's only one song, and the quality of the videos are getting better and better. Amazing job man!

I'm still impressed that your SG can easily do everything from Standard to Drop A without changing strings. Just wow
Also, consider two facts: one, he might be just overdubbing the previously recorded (most probably), and two, there are pedals that let you play i.e. in standard tuning and you sound one, two ore more steps down.
digitech's Drop is pretty good at that. I think they even have a Whammy that can do it. It's quite impressive
my teacher has me playing a lot of Jazz right now, and i am very happy to come here and drown myself in metal! :)
Was thinking the same, I cant switch from E to D without feeling a massive difference while Im playing. Not only the tension but also the string height !
That is why I have 3 guitar : one in E one in Eb and one in D so I only switch from drop to standard x)

After going though countless finger stretching exercises (I'm a beginner), I wanted to change up my playing with some easy tabs. This video was so much fun to follow! And it brings back some of the fun when you know the songs. I loved it, thank you so much for making this!

thanks for the inspiration man. looking back i can see myself barely being able to play seven nation army without power chords to playing the entirety of enter sandman perfectly within 6ish months. hopefully there'll be a day where I can learn the solo for enter sandman.
@@rev9737 No problem man. It takes time. If you are anything like me you'll find yourself watching other guitar videos and you might feel a bit discouraged, but you can turn that discourage into inspiration, and you can practice all day (I did that yesterday, I enjoyed it)
6ish months to play the song perfectly? thats awesome man! I didn't learn my first solo until I was probably 5 years into playing, that was 3ish years ago and now I can sweep pick and alternate pick. Sweeping is a little messy but IM determined to keep practicing.
I have faith in yuo man, one day you will be an awesome guitarist. Keep practicing no matter what

If you're looking for a good first metal song to learn from start to finish, For Whom The Bell Tolls is pretty good for that. It was one of the first songs I was ever able to play start-to-finish. There's one set of walkdowns in Kirk's second lead part that's kind of tricky for a new player, but if you can't get it, you can just play James' rhythm part. The rest of it is pretty straightforward.

I like that many of these is just what the rhythm guitar is doing during a solo. Easy riffs, yes, but from difficult ass songs, which is exactly why I struggle learning full songs. Still this vid helps!

What's the meaning of chords with circle around?

How do you get that sound? Newbie here.
in my case I've just persisted failing over and over on placing a mic in front of an amp or playing with the settings of an amp simp. after almost 20 years you grasp a little bit on how to make these modest means sound decent
Please please please, besides the obvious, what kind of amplifier and pedals are needed to create those rifs?
Unfortunately there's no short answer to this. You can have the best gear in the planet but the recording could sound like shit. In this video I haven't used a real amp. I've opened amplitube 4 and I spent an hour tweaking with heads, cabinets, speakers, mic positioning and mic choice. I've spent years trying to achieve good results with modest means and now my ears are pretty trained to do that with different stuff. So I can't remember the "virtual" chain for this case in particular. The gear I use the most for these sounds is ... experience

They’re marked like whole notes (half notes if they have a stem)

everyone overlooks pull the plug. genuinely the easiest riff known to man
I appreciate that you include King Diamond song, but main riff from Give me your soul is not easy, at least not eastiest riff to play, due to this stretch on the frets. Shape of black from the same album would be more suitable.
Easy. Yes. Very easy when you are doing the riffs. ;-) But the most impressive thing is your sound. It is better as the original ones.
When I'm listening to songs/music videos I often think why I barely hear the bass line. I don't know much about this but why can't it be a little "louder"?
About 90% of the time the bassline gets mixed up with the guitar riff. I want yout o go hear "I'm Broken" by Pantera. Then go hear the isolated guitar track and the isolated bass track immediately after it. You would realize that 40% of the guitar riff is infact the Bassline in it.

My first thought as well, but I think the music of Refueling Base was inspired by Black Sabbath's After All (the Dead)
These riff tones sound better than the originals in many cases.
