- Here are some of my favorite nu metal riffs! Enjoy :)
EDIT: I had to remove the third riff (System of a Down - Forest) from the video because of a copyright claim ("melody or lyrics"). Sorry!

One Step Closer immediately started playing in my head when I saw this video title.
Literally same
"My own summer " is one of the most iconic riffs ever
ehhhhhh not even close
@@RUclipsAccountManonly clicked on this vid to see if it was mentioned
@@RUclipsAccountManit literally is
@@FVC37ESSfr lmao
Absolutely iconic...iam sure iam one of many that hear a crowd start too roar when those first notes hit 🤘
The great thing is that Sepultura is not a nu metal band and yet have one of the greatest nu metal albums
Soulfly is a nu metal band and they have sepultura’s old singer and rhythm guitarist, Max Cavalera
@@dabrazzykidskywalker I know
@@dabrazzykidskywalkersoulfly was a mix of nu metal tribal and groove for a few albums then started shifting more towards thrash/groove/death metal like sepultura was before max left. Check out calvalera conspiracy max other band.
True.
@@dabrazzykidskywalker They sound nothing like Nu metal.
There's something to be said about why nu-metal groove riffs work so well. They feel so right for some reason and you can really get into a song because of it.
Catchy riffs and the teen angst is what got hooked me to nu-metal.
"Here to Stay" was Korn's quintessential riff in terms of their sound.
The intro to Taproot's "Poem" was a great riff.
Honestly a lot of taproot is undercredited. Went to blue ridge 2023 and I stayed at the same hotel with them and drank/smoked with the band and heard stories. All amazing dudes
Here to stay was after korn became pointless
@@Tgym-kw7ih Disagree. When Head came back, they achieved greatness again. The Serenity of Suffering is tremendous.
@@Tgym-kw7ihit was the one time they did something cool, actually.
The Points of Authority riff is one of my all-time favorites.
So simple, yet so effective.
Yes, I always liked it as well. It's so distinctively "nu-metal"ish and has that hip-hop/turntable inspired sound to it.
My Own Summer goes hard asf
I looove that Forest riff from SOAD - I feel it doesn’t get as much praise as it should!
Agree!
100% 😎
Your collection is really great. Both the songs and the guitars.
thank you for being one of the few people on youtube that plays break stuff correctly
With wes borlands actual prs custom 24
How can you play that song incorrectly? It's literally 2 chords
@@righty-o3585 i know people that are better at guitar than i am who think its a one note riff. its more of a 2.5 note riff because of the low string hammer on. wes is brilliant. who the hell else writes a 2.5 note riff that's THAT heavy?
@@stopit2964 yeah there's that half power chord hammer on. So yeah, 2.5 chords is accurate.
@@stopit2964 also, from what I heard. Borland wasn't a huge fan of the music that they were putting out, which is why he started wearing the makeup. To hide his face. But he's not stupid and understood the success and the amount of money they could bring in, so he kinda just dealt with it, because that was the break he would probably never find again if he left the band. I'm not sure how true that is, but it does make sense. Because his projects that he started since then were NOTHING like Bizkit at all. Like not even remotely close.
those first 2 Linkin Park albums of full of great riffs...Wes Borland is also a creative genius.
Wes Borland > Brad Delson
Yeah, but barely…Brad’s riffs are super musical.
Sick riffs! All of my childhood is contained here
Wes Borland underrepresented. Definitely the Nu Metal riff god.
And that flat black Strat is sick! I can't stand Strats unless they have a very flat radius. That one looks pretty thin.
I believe that's the Jim Root Showmaster, love that axe.
Damn never realized how sick the riff to bring me to life was 🤘. Sick video.
thanks!
Good vid my man, I appreciate all the different guitars you play here, some nice rigs you got there!
thanks for the comment!
Bro got a ton of new comments in the past few days. The algorithm gods see you. Great video!
thanks! and yeah, a looooot of new comments and folks around here :)
@@maciejstillsucks That's so rad! You play really well. I like it.
@@niaboctruk138 thanks so much
Very entertaining and well played, must be neat to compare and constrast the styles from the inside.
I agree on your selection of songs great You are the man!
Man how you gonna make a numetal video with no slipknot
cool idea for part 2 :)
@@maciejstillsucks❤
They ain’t nu metal playa
Probably because calling Slipknot NuMetal is an insult to Slipknot.
I read this and was praying Korn was mentioned😂
Happy to see Coal Chamber on here
*only 90s and 2000s kids remember these Legendary NU-METAL's.*
I love your guitar collection. Great vid too
thanks!
Cool selection!
idk what it is about the way he plays its so satisfying and he actually played break stuff correctly
Yes glad POD made it!!!
Well that was f**kin' sick!
Good to see the tele getting a hammering dude👍
Subbed
thanks!
Awesome 😎 very nostalgic 🙏
thanks!
Great choices!
Those are some beautiful telecasters! You killed it man
thanks!
Came to hear the first few riffs, ended up watching the whole video :)
thanks!
ooh-wah-ah-ah-ah!
ooh-wah-ah-ah-ah!
I love it when people play the One Step Closer Riff correctly!
But wasn't it written in Drop C# instead of Drop D like he played in a video?
I was going to comment this
Love your guitars, mate!
thanks!
Love the number of tele style guitars in the video. I rock a few hot rodded teles as well. Long live bare knuckle pickups.
long live!
Thanks, that was cool.
cool collection of guitars! baller
Love ur choices 👍🏼
cool 👍🏼
Damn. Not my childhood, but my early adulthood, and got to see nearly all those bands and make great memories at those shows, from what i can remember...
so cool that you got to see so many of those bands live!
This guy really loves his Tele body style guitars.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that tho
I do ;)
Thank you for this... ❤
thanks for the comment :)
Just the Coal Chamber that I Don't recognize... And I'm glad for it.... One more great Nu Band Metal Band for me to Know! Great Video dude, Successs
thanks!
that was a trip down memory lane... and it's like you were there lol
wow what a cool unique looking LTD telecaster, nice one!
Sick. I just find myself singing along
Nice
DIG NEEDS MORE BRR BRR DING.
Jk, that was still a dope ass video.
BRR BRR DING!
This is a throw back! We’ll done!
thanks :)
All amazing.
Well, I enjoyed this
I miss the late 90s early 00s. Shitty internet. Great music. We still played outside as kids. And PS1 games or Doom when raining.
"push it" started and i was like thats a weird way to play "need to"
nice timing
mixes sound great
Fender str flat head so good job bro. 😍🤘🏽🎸🎉
Elegancko
Bud was flexing every guitar he had
Those LTD Teles are so sick! What model(s) are they? And what model is the black Fender?
Fantastic video! All of those riffs are bops.
black fender is flathead showmaster jim root
@@dfyanaa black tele is a LTD TE 202, sunburst tele is a LTD TE 254. Both are modded though ;)
Nice...nice
Saved the best for the ending
I’m a drummer but DAMN you got some nice guitars. Great playing.
i love nu metal
Nice wss top man
Just for opening the video with Deftones you got me to give you a like and a sub.
thanks!
I turned it into a “guess the song” game and only missed Sepultra lmao. I’d call that a win
that Soulfy album that came out in the late 90's was fucking amazing, I think it was the selftitled, but i loved the fuck out of it...The only 4 albums i listened that year was Soulfly-Soulfly, Deftones-Around the fur, 311-Transistor and Snot-GetSome.
Drowning Pool mentioned 🔥🔥🔥
Love that Tele ESP.
I was lowkey hoping for the riff from counterfeit but break stuff.still goes insanely hard
i need pills for remember to past.
Nu-metal: use me.
Love the fact there is no slipknot... thank you.
Segura meu like!
Hella good amp settings and tone
Sick guitars
Thank friggin god! After 15 plus years I've finally found someone who play dwts the same as I do
:)
break stuff es indestructible...la mejor
luego my own summer
Damn they all kinda sound like they could be part of the same album. There was definitely a specific style of guitar playing in the early 2000s haha.
I was expecting (sic) by slipknot after Down with the sickness. It blends quite well. Great video! I get my dose of Nu-Metal daily. It was an unforgettable era that defined my childhood and my gateway to other metal genre. Don't care what the gate keepers and critics say, Nu-metal was groundbreaking!
true words :)
PREACH!! Same for many of us! Nu metal will always be special, cause it opened the horizons into heavier metal for so many of us!!, and the cycle is repeating itself, 20 YEARS LATER!!
with the new generation of kids coming up, that love nu metal! 🤟🏽🤟🏽
I'm so glad people start to acknowledge static x
I wouldn't place Sepultura in the Nu Metal category
I love your guitars! I play schecter, but i had an LTD for about 2 years and it was amazing..I traded it and have regretted it ever since.
i think ltd offers nice value for the money
Some great classic riffs in there 🤘🏻. I think I'd draw the line at classing Sepultura as nu-metal though. I know they started using simple downtuned riffs but they've been around since the early 80s. I'd just call their stuff since Roots tribal metal.
fair enough!
Except that song literally is the blueprint for SO MUCH!
Except nu metal can be tribal metal too and visa versa, nu metal just means "New Wave Metal" that's different, raw, edgy and downtuned for the era, basically an evolution of pushing the envelope for the genre. Great example: listen to Pleymo - New Wave, it's a French Nu Metal song basically, an French Limp Bizkit and they came out around the same era as Limp Bizkit and it's all in French
Cuz to me, Djent was my generations Nu Metal in alot of ways ngl with those Riffs Wormholes by Volumes and/or Icarus lives by Periphery
Korn's "Blind" deserve to be here, straight classic!
This will not make me headbang, but will make me DEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG
Simplistic riffs but very catchy.
Спасибо!❤
I really like that sunburst Tele
Nice collection of LTDs 👍
Kinda crazy you played a Korn classic with an SCT-607B, a stef signature guitar.
Dig is with muted strings at the beginning
NuMetal had a penchant toward the stupid and campy, but they knew how to lean into heavy riffs.
Why the “(maybe)” a lot of these songs are absolute classics! People just love to hate. Bands like Korn, Deftones, Sepultura, Linkin Park etc are legendary.
true!
Somebody sure loves their telecasters ;)
the Fender is fire!
Throw in some Soulfly next round and do Blind by KoRn plz. Awesome vid. dude!!
No sevendust?
THAT FLAT HEAD STRAT!!
coolest shit on yt
3:46 that sound looks like before i forget hahaha
I need that LTD horizon
for me "My own Summer" by Deftones is the best
