Wow, PreSonus is killing it. I love that there's an affordable interface with all that on board DSP. If they make a bigger version with more ins and outs I'll almost certainly buy one.
Here is what I think of the Revelator io24 after extensive use over 3 months in a daily studio - and vocal coaching environment: It's one of the most innovative products especially the loopback function...BUT it could be truly amazing: My wish list is the following: 1. Better Preamps 2. More ins and outs 3. A Deesser!!! 4. More Fat Channel Plugin Options. (Even if you have to pay for it...) 5. Ability to insert plugins on the Master Channel for a more polished finished sound for streams. (I know there are workarounds, but it would be great do all that within the Revelator environment.) 6. And finally: This all enclosed in a hardware unit....like the Rode Rodecaster Pro....or one of their mixers. Revelator could be amazing...is already a very innovative product.
Hey Mark, great question! The iO24 has about 60dB of gain, which should be enough for the SM7B, depending on the volume of the source. If using for spoken voice, I still might use a Cloudlifter, just to ensure I have enough clean gain for that very hungry microphone! If you have any other questions, give me a ring! Hello, thanks for your video. I have a question: Do you know if the audio interface allows using presets without being connected to the PC? I would love to have the freedom to use my saved configurations directly on the interface (not sure if it has any kind of memory for storing these settings) to play with my guitar and sing, with parameters like reverb and compressor already set, without depending on the computer.
Hi josevillegas1144, thanks for the question! You absolutely can use this unit stand-alone without a computer! I actually have one set up here at the office for my headset. You just need a 5V USB power supply (like for a phone charger). The systems allow you to toggle between two presets, so you can even have a couple different sounds at your fingertips. The one caveat is that you do need it attached and installed to a computer in order to fully edit the presets. If you have further questions, just give me a ring! Hello Drake! I greatly appreciate your prompt and detailed response. Your kindness in providing me with such valuable information and offering your contact is truly appreciated. Not only have you given me the information I needed, but you've also made this experience much more pleasant. Thank you for your willingness to help. If I have more questions in the future, I will definitely reach out to you. Your professional and friendly attitude has made a difference. Have an excellent day! @@sweetwater
I thought that Mitch mentions that the io24 can be used offline, but it will not work completely unless connected to a computer running the Control software. After looking at the video again, I did not find his comment about offline use!
I would recommend using either good TRS 6.5inch cable or TRS to XLR adapter cable. Sommer Cable Stage 22 SG for example, are great cables although bit pricy, still nothing like Vovox which charges 200€ for 1 meter cables xD
Hello, TheAudioDabbler! It is a great question. The Revelator supports loopback on macOS, Windows 10 and Chrome OS, but it is does not support iOs at this time. Thanks for the interest! Cody Kraus, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1766, cody_kraus@sweetwater.com
Hi, Xavier! Thanks for your interest. Although third-party interfaces won't feature the onboard Fat Channel processing like the Revelator, there is no other disadvantage to using a different interface with Studio One. You can also use any mic you like with this interface. Feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
@Xavier - the software doesn't recognize specific microphones. It recognized the Revelator interface when you plug it in. You can definitely use it with any brand microphone and also set up your own custom presets for your favorite mics and switch between them.
Thanks for your interest! EQ and the signal processing is all done in the unit with its built in DSP. You can of course combine that with native signal processing through your DAW when recording, but this helps take some of the heat off of your computer and makes signal processing for streaming much easier. Hopefully this helps! Reach out if you have any other questions. Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Thanks for your interest! This interface is now compatible with the M1 chip running on macOS Big Sur. Let me know if you have any other questions! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Hello there! The Revelator can achieve autogain through the included software that runs alongside it, so you should be totally fine there. That said, how it works for you would really depend on the specific use case. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions, and thanks for reaching out! Corey Elliott, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1242, corey_elliott@sweetwater.com
The io24 will work great in standalone mode. Just load up your presets on your computer and switch through them with the hardware preset buttons when using in standalone. You just need to provide power through the USB port and the processed audio will pass through the analog outputs.
This video contains good information but it is so annoying to watch. For the first half of the video, every 8 seconds *pans to the right of the same footage but never stops*

Powerful, user-friendly, and reasonably priced. This might be the new best interface for most streamers.

Has anyone recorded vocals for music production? How is it?
Also, any latency?
Just ordered, can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks for the great vid as always!

Everyone says gaming and podcasting, i think music creation as it has a midi converter, thats a big hint from presonus.

Cool that the software recognizes the PreSonus mic but what are the downsides -if any- if using this with other brands of mics?

The first shipment will be coming in August, hopefully by the 2nd week at the latest.

Just wish they didn't have to move the headphone jack to the rear. What sense does that make?
