    In other parts of the world, it's known as a skid-steer front-end loader. Here we call it a Bobcat. Extremely versatile, go just about anywhere. Hard to believe that some of these exceed 7500lb (3.4T)

    What a great way to showcase trucks that can easily have a curb weight over 6K lbs; which can sit a large family comfortably, get decent fuel mileage, pull other cars/trucks/boats/campers/small houses...., hit the drag strip (continuously) competing with drag queens, go trailing, go cross country, go to the grocery store while having the piece of mind that you will almost always survive a collision with a VW Golf and are only improving your chances against a SEMI.

  • @TheRealSmithFamily
    @TheRealSmithFamily 10 лет назад +5

    Next year, if they want to make it harder, have them pull and park a single wave runner. We know the trucks can pull the weight, but can they see a small trailer behind their truck and get it parked? IMO, it's much harder.

    While not a heavy duty truck & not a big skid-steer. I did use my 1996 Safari GMC van to tow my flatbed weighing between 2400 & 2500 lbs with an antique1963 Bobcat with backhoe 250 miles.
    I believe this would be comparable to towing a heavier skid-steer with a bigger truck considering the power of the vehicle & the weight of the load. I had no problems towing this load the 4.3 liter motor performed great. I did use a 1000 LB. Reese load equalizer hitch system to help handle the weight.
    This same trailer was my Dads & once hauled a 9200 lb 1958 John Deer 2 cylinder diesel dozer with a similar hitch system behind a heave half 1500 series 1968 Chevy with a 305 V8 & a 4 speed manual transmission 135 miles & back again.
    Then turned around & towed as 40' x 8' mobile home over the same road. Dad did say that the mobile home was easier to tow. We even passed an old Geezer in a 1948 Ford in a clear stretch on 2 lane road. The Chevy was almost new at the time.
    These trucks now days are great but the drivers in the past did as much work with regular trucks as they do now days with heavy duty trucks & sometimes more considering how many of these trucks are on the road now days & the amount of work they are doing, & the trucks that are all show & no go as far as doing work.

    All that soot is inly visible because its black. People blaming diesels for emissions shit etc etc dont have any idea how much their own gassers waste fuel the same way, but cant see it. Such as in NHRA most of the dragsters fuel goes out the exhaust, but its a clear gas form.

  • @theshawnofficial6180
    @theshawnofficial6180 10 лет назад

    If u make do with with a smaller car, why have 7.3L of fuel wasting 'Merica? I'm from Canada and like trucks, but why would you need that unless you tow a goose neck 2-4 times a week. I know some one who can tow a 38 foot over ruff terrain with a ram 1500. What's the point.

    Poor baby, I drive everyday without power steering, and have manual drum brakes, using hand controls for gas and brake, no assist, one hand steering.

    • @Maples01
      @Maples01 10 лет назад

      As long as it's moving, the steering is good, power really helps at a dead stop, none of these guys were turning at a dead stop. I had the fun of living in a duplex with neighbors lining the streets with cars, I was backing a 14 foot dual axle trailer in my driveway, with an extended van, the overhang of 3 feet past the rear wheels, miss the cars on the road, my yard, and the neighbors car parked next to me, not a bunch of oops I hit a cone crap. I got to where I could do it without any forward and back, just straight on, it was tighter than their course, I can tell you that. Could put in, or haul out my 22 foot pontoon while people were trying to get theirs unstrapped too, my ex and I had a pattern, could make tournament fishermen flinch.
      I mean that course is cool and all, but what are they out to prove?

      My '71 Chevy has manual steering, manual gearbox, and I can still do about anything in it (except go fast lol)

    • @Maples01
      @Maples01 10 лет назад +1

      The manual brakes are a bit much tho, always feel like I'm gonna break the rod off of my hand control from pushing so hard when I have to stop fast. I did break a spinner knob off, those at the parts stores aren't durable at all, had to get one that goes to a tractor. Oh I can go fast, causes issues because you often forget it's not easy to stop.

  • @sneakysnakepie1
    @sneakysnakepie1 10 лет назад

    Ha many guys who think rolling coal is suppose to happen or looks cool, just wasting fuel. Unless your towing something but only should see a little. What about cativation, anybody worrying about that?

    • @isaacwilson3344
      @isaacwilson3344 10 лет назад +1

      its a by product of running rich... which is done to cool the engine for more power and lower egt's

    • @sneakysnakepie1
      @sneakysnakepie1 10 лет назад

      Isaac Wilson I don't get what your saying. A "by product" like in the diesel fuel? They program the truck to dump more fuel and older trucks you could do that with no computer. On my OBS 7.3 idi i got it fixed unless I'm towing a trailer up a hill (and even then little smoke) it is not blowing smoke. To run cooler is all in the size of your radiator size, I have 8 gallons. But u do get a little rich runs cooler but you don't need it to run that much richer.

    • @NVMDSTEvil
      @NVMDSTEvil 10 лет назад

      sneakysnakepie1 Radiator size does nothing to EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperatures) which are dangerous above about 1400-1600 deg F. I agree I dislike the excessive amount of soot that many high performance trucks create, but vs a high power gasoline vehicle it is markedly less damaging to the environment.

    • @sneakysnakepie1
      @sneakysnakepie1 10 лет назад

      I true but hey, if they want bad mpg and horsepower so be it

    • @isaacwilson3344
      @isaacwilson3344 10 лет назад

      sneakysnakepie1 the black smoke is a byproduct. these guys are tuned to run rich for performance...and keep in mind that up in high altitudes (like colorado) with less dense air they're running richer. however that said, some people just run waaaay rich for the smoke which is just plain dumb.
