  • In this series, Pastor Bohr explains how the many doctrines of the Bible, such as the divine/human nature of Christ, the salvation of sinful man, the Sabbath, the ten commandments, the state of the dead, the judgment, tithing, healthful living, the work of angels, and even end-time events, are explained in the sanctuary service. With simplicity and clarity, he shows how the sanctuary is the great magnet that draws together all the doctrines of the Bible into a unified system of truth.

Are you using the terms Law and Covenant interchangeably? The title refers to the two covenants but the two types of Laws were discussed in the study, the moral and the ceremonial law.

Are some laws not both moral and ceremonial according to your own classification. These classifications are sort of artificial I find. This classification is an attempt to explain Galatians which speaks of the law being added 430 years after Abraham. But if the ceremonial law existed since Genesis 4 what law was added 430 years after Abraham?

Have you considered that the 2 covenants spoken of in the passage you quoted were in existence at the time they were written, which was in advance of the formal delivery of them at Mt Sinai? There has only ever been one kind of covenant. That is the Everlasting Covenant.

@@marks9935 yes true and Who are the parties involved in this everlasting Covenant??

@@prushrajrajnath9581 I used to think, perhaps as you, that 2 parties are required to make a covenant. However, note that the first "covenant" (Not really the first, as can be shown momentarily) was a promise by the people. This is why it became "faulty". The people made an "agreement". He simply said, keep my commandments. God didn't ask for promises from the people, but said ok, here are the terms of the covenant.
There really has only been one kind of Covenant set forth by God.
Note that the everlasting covenant began in eternity past. No parties, just the Father and Son. Then, again in Gen 3:15 - who are the parties? Just our most blessed God and it was a promise. Then again, Abraham. Where was the agreement? No agreement - God making a covenant with Abraham and he believed and it was counted to him as righteousness. The covenant is Gods covenant, like the bow, after the flood. Was there an agreement for man to do something? No. Just God, covenanting with us that he would never bring a flood again.
So, man is incapable with keeping his covenant of holiness with God and therefore, it is God who covenants with us to "write His law on the tables of our hearts". All we can do is believe. We believe, we trust, God justifies and He sanctifies us making us commandment keepers from the heart.
This passage was not in with counsel of any man, but within the Godhead itself: Jeremiah 31:33 says -
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Who was He speaking to in that passage? Not to any man for sure, as it refers to "they". No, this was God repeating a covenant from eternity past.
The everlasting covenant is the only true covenant - and it has been saving people since Genesis 3:15, by faith alone - the "better promises" have been since the beginning. It was never the blood of bulls and goats that has saved. It was always based on the blood of Christ (As I know that you are very aware), which was the ratification of Gods promise. But the Covenant was completely of God, "from before the foundation of the world..."
The commandments are the "thing" covenanted for, so to speak. The covenant gives us the ability to be righteous - to keep Gods commandments, and this is essential to living with Him. We must have His law, essentially, Him, living in our hearts.
The _second_ "covenant" was a promise by man - the first, has always been by God since the garden and before and this brings tears to my eyes because God always had you - and me in mind from everlasting. We won't ever fathom His Grace and goodness fully enough. Remember the words of God the Father and the Son in their plan - "I will write my law on their hearts and I shall be their God, and they shall be my people" Shall we not all give Him all of ourselves?
You should try to find some works by E.J. Waggoner and paticularly, Elliot Douglin who made a very important study on the unfolding of Adventist understanding of the two covenants. You will be blessed. I pray you will be filled to the brim with Gods Holy Spirit.
