    definitely surprised how far he goes down on the leg press, i like cutler, although not my favorite, but i definitely respect him and also the fact that he goes as low as he does on leg press and other excercises, you see alot of other guys pretty much unlock there knees and thats it..

    Jay cutler said this in an interview before. The reason why he uses machines is to avoid injury before a contest. You can train heavier aswell. I think too many fitness gurus have bashed machines for so long that everyone thinks they are bad for building mass, but it doesnt really matter. The only thing I dont like about squating in the smith machine is the way the bar goes. But for me I can go heavier in the smith machine because i dont have to stabilize the weight. Machines are great imo.

    Very interesting how Jay works his legs. I noticed he does back squats on the smith machine, I gotta say though, I tend to do front squats more with the smith machine rather than back squats (I'd do some light weight for 2 sets with a barbell then move on to do 3 heavier sets on the smith machine). I like to also do a hack squat-like motion with the smith machine (legs extended farther out and let the rack do the balancing for you).
    Great vid good to see that Jay likes to interact with his fans

    I think these guys get so strong compared to natural guys that the amount of weight they can lift in the big compound movements like stiff legs gets possibly to a level where it can be risky.Normally stiff legged deadlifts are the pinnacle movement for strengthening and developing the hammies due to the closed kinetic chain but there are risks for guys as powerful as Jay.

    @Maxxedout15 You know what you are right good sir, forgive my ignorance. I completely disregarded the bulk cycle which is intended to pack on size and mass and build strength. I used to do this myself, but looked past it because I'm not competing so there's no need to gain all that weight, but the strength gains were immense and muscle gains were phenomenal. Thanks for reminding me about that, that's one of the staples of Bodybuilding.

  • @doctorm96
    @doctorm96 12 лет назад

    All i said was just an advice , if you want to you could train them for 5 hours straight . No more than 12 sets and 15-25 reps on each set is needed for leg workout . If you are comfortable working out 2 hours and still gain muscle as much as a person working out for 1 hour max , then continue what you are doing , my friend.

  • @Death929
    @Death929 13 лет назад

    Gaining size and muscle fullness is great but what i dont understand is why some IFBB bodybuilders gain much fat during the off season. I admire their dedication, whether your on anabolic steroids or not, you dont get this big and defined by training comfortably, you gotta bust your ass. Major props

    the reason why most gyms have have certain equipments is because 1. they might not have room for it 2. they dont want to buy it ebcause they thinks its not worth it for the price 3. they wont buy it becuase they think people wont really use it. if u want a good leg workout stick to squats, leg presses, leg curls, and deadlifts

    The amount of tissue burned is miniscule. A good 1.5, maybe 2-hour workout is pretty average. Plus, with the right supplements, you can not only counteract the catabolism quickly, but can even prevent it altogether. (Many people sip an amino acid shake during workouts to prevent muscle breakdown)

    The reason why jay's legs are so big is because before he reached his 30's he use to barbell squat 600 to 700 lbs when he first started out bodybuilding (flex magazine) After reaching adequate size and also after having multiple injuries he switched to smith machine and concentrated more on slow controlled movements for the pump which I'm assuming just helped him maintain the size he already achieved. Hope this answers your question.

    • @surbjits
      @surbjits 9 лет назад +7

      Trey Bailey where have you read this lol? dorian yates quit squatting quite early. ive never seen levrone squat etc. you DONT need the barbell squat to build up your legs - it's more of an 'overall' movement as it brings in stabilisers like the erectors, lower back etc. but in terms of pure isolation, the smith is far superior. dont know why it gets so much hate tbh its a very useful tool
      Another thing: strength =! muscle. I've seen quite a few weaklings push heavy weight in the squat to depth but they look like they dont even lift.

    It's a FACT that cortisol is realised into bloodstream 45-60 minutes after intense physical activity . And cortisol kicks in when testosterone is going low , but because most of the bodybuilders use steroids , they have a ton of testosterone to "waste" . Cortisol is there just to provide maximum survivebuility for the host , at that time after 60 minutes and above , your body doesn't care if you are trying to build muscle or not . It will do anything to stay alive.

    @Death929 Ive always thought it was because when you're heavier, you gain strength faster and lets them pack on more muscle, and It must be pretty hard to stay on a strict diet year-round.

    In this case the smith machine for squats is providing more stress on the quads.

  • @김상훈-k5c6k
    @김상훈-k5c6k 4 года назад

    I wonder if squat on smith machine is good or not. Some people say they dont squat on smith machine for if you have knowledge about the movements of muscles, the smith machine is not helpful but i dont understand their suggestion. When i squat on smith machine(because other people are using squat tracks) i feel it lets me much more focus on my squads than free style squat in which the heavier the weight is the less i focus on squads but on other mascles to life up the weight. So after squat on smith machine rather free squat i feel more tensions on my squads and legs thinking i worked out legs otherwise i didt know whether i worked out legs or other parts (for example backs). I want to say to them that hey!! Muscle professionals, look at this world class builder who is training his legs on smith machine squat.

    I was a personal trainer for 2 years, and in my experience, most people can gain your 35 pounds in just a few months. Do YOU eat poorly?
    In any case, I'm pretty sure he meant that he's been working out for 5 years, and gained a respectable 26 pounds of muscle (with no need to add more) - not that it took him 5 years to gain those 26 pounds.
    Meaning, it could have taken him 6 weeks to gain that weight, but he's maintained it for the past 5 years.
    Get it?
