Me too! I was a sickly little girl in the late 60s. I would have so much fun watching scary movies in the afternoon with Mom. Vincent Price was always one of my favorites. He was like a kindly Uncle, who was just a little bit scary 😂❤
My Dad and I used to watch this all the time. Along with every Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone, Christopher Lee feature EVER. He's been passed 18 years now... but this... this right here... feels like home. Thank you for posting ❤
I was one of those young children that loved the classic horror movies back then & was lucky enough to have a Nan that would wake me up when the Horror Double bills aired back on bbc2 in the 70s. This is one of the films that put the wind up me because the sight of the very beautiful Myrna's Fahey R. I. P. eyes staring menacingly from that coffin scared me half to death. Fantastic film. Thank you I've subscribed
Yes, and at that time--early 1960s--he was really big. Everybody wanted more of him. There's a whole bunch of cool movies with him, including The Raven [1963], Masque of the Red Death [1964], and The Last Man on Earth [1965] and many more.
I remember seeing this with a friend at a Saturday matinée (that was actually at 11:00 a.m.) when we were in jr. high school. Years later, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. & Mrs. Price at an estate auction; they were delightfully friendly.
I grew up on Vincent Price , Peter Cushing , Christopher Lee and more in the 70's Friday and Saturday night was Horror night , only had three channels then but TV seemed to be better and more organized.
Watching here in Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸 This November 15th 2024 This is a excellent classic. I have seen every movie Vincent Price was in. I also owèn the Dining room outfit that belonged to Vincent Price. Plus the Grandfather clock came with the Dining room. Its in excellent condition. Not even 1 scratch. ❤
Absolutely beautiful representation of old cinema and story. A beauty that shall not die, every decade adds to this piece delightfully. I am glad i have the ability to view it.
Impeccable film making...always wanted to see Corman's take on this Poe classic and it surpassed my expectations. thank you so much for makign it available!
@@carollynnberwindscheffler398I have. List of atmospheric movies that made me feel warm when I’d watch them alone before I got my Whiskey dog. Can send if you’re interested! Sidenote.. this house looks like the Dark Shadows mansion. Same exact door pattern.
Just found this movie on retro always loved this movie.used to be allowed to stay up late on a saturday night late 60s early 70s to watch.thanks so much for posting😊😊😊
I don't recall that all of them were good, and they made quite a few! But this one and Tomb of Ligeia and Masque of the Red Death were terrific. Maybe there were others that escape my memory.
I remember answering one of those grade school 'List of Favorites' questions about favorite actors. Vincent Price. Actress? Elsa Lancaster. I was born in 1957. Been a horror and mystery fan all my life. Quirky, too. I like quirky films.
I love movies like this, I don’t have to watch them but listen to the dialogue. Vincent Price and others are worth listening to and internalizing. I used to listen to all the older Pink Pantheon movies and never realized how much I was missing when I just watched the acting.
One off the best, the team Poe,Corman,Price,Matheson, the beguining of beautiful friendship, for fans and people that really have pleasure in Cinema, BRAVO
I did not know about this one. I saw The Raven in 1963 and The Masque of the Red Death and Last Man on Earth here on Tube, plus a few others back when they came out. Vincent Price was in huge demand at the time, lots of movies with him and filled our beautiful theater every time, including my Dad and me. This one was really classy and really portrayed the emotion of Poe, with a good soundtrack--I really liked the music utilizing human voice.
Classic Roger Corman! And as far as I'm concerned, absolutely ANYTHING with Vincent Price is ALWAYS worth watching. Thank you for uploading this - it's been way too long since I last saw it!
I’m a sucker for a good gothic tale. I needed distraction today and I’ve watched a few good old ones keeping my mind off other things. Loved it❤❤♥️ Next…😊
Time flies when you're having fun, eh? I remember when they said in the 80s we'd be able to have the entire Library of Congress on our home computers....of course that was just the beginning....
One of the greatest Ghotic horror films ever made. Very atmospheric, it has a fantastic art direction and cinematography in lavish colour that looks very much like Hammer. An exquisite treat for a Saturday night of mystery and the macabre. 😊
I've been watching Mr Price for a long time. Love all his movies 👍😃☺️😊❣️❣️ I want to buy all his movies 👍😊☺️😃 and every Saturday I would watch his awesome movies 👏😁
So strange to see this title - my brother was reading a story called The Weapon Shops of Isher back in the late 50s, and his description of the story might have sparked my lifelong interest in reading fiction.....for some reason I thought it was the EA Poe story all these years!!! It was AE Van Vogt of course.....thank you kindly for posting!
I will forever love Vincent Price and his movies.

The usual suspects.....
I love this movie. Vincent Price is wonderful as the tormented Roderick Usher.
Vincent Price was so rich and deep that he made these movies.. he was perfect.
My first horror movie. 1977, 8 years old. Loved it! Here I am nearly fifty years later, still loving it!
🤩
my first 69yrs young 2024
One of the classic Vincent Price films. And also a very authentic take on the story.
So much so, it has never had a remake.
✌
it is a great film but not an authentic take on the story at all
@scroogemcduckrich9705 I know. Hence, the reason that film has never been remade.
😁✌
@@hoosezThere is a remake in the form of a mini series on Netflix
@Michael-gk1nq I remember hearing about that.
Any good??
@@hoosez Well, I don't think so. Sure doesn't have the class of this one. But you should decide for yourself of course.
Loved Vincent Price as a kid. Now as a MUCH older adult, I realize what an underrated Actor he was. BRILLIANT in this role!❤
He was NEVER underated.
I don't think so either - he was very appreciated in his day and still is ...
Starring Vincent Price, directed by Roger Corman, screenplay by Richard Matheson. The film just screams Classic!

Probably haunted . . .
FINALLY!! I’ve been waiting to watch this wonderful classic for such a long time! Thank you very much from France!
Fantastic gothic atmosphere!
Just Victorian.😂
Gothic in terms of literary aesthetics, which definitely applies to Poe’s work, and authors like Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Mary Shelley, etc.
"I can hear the scratch of rat claws within the stone wall." No one could deliver that line with that much intensity except Vincent Price.

Great atmospheric movie with Vincent Price
The sets and furnishings in these films are awesome. Where do they get all that wonderful STUFF?!
Universal Studios. Then the production designer redressed them to make the mansion.
❤love vincent price all of his movies are creepy they're just wonderful😘please more vincent price movies
Wow…
This Mark Damon is really a dish!!!❤😍

No doodle?😳

What is the remarkable interpretation of Edgar Poe's story! Much better, deep and tragic than original version of genius.
