CAVS scored 150. What are you talking about here, the defense is zero, a little less than 40 points per quarter. Enough with the nonsense, Denver is bad, it can't get any worse. This is a parody, maybe the way out of this nightmare is to start talking realistically about the problems and to solve the problems instead of bragging about how well they played and how they are a good team that can beat anyone.
Idk why you’re shocked bc the math problem is such a real issue. Teams can play so awful and still win due to hitting more threes. It’s such an equaliser to where the nuggets can score efficiently and guard somewhat well and still lose. Obv the defense matters but a lot of it can be forgiven if you’re getting as many possible points down the offensive end
Thsnk you. Same as Adam Mares and his crew. No matter how bad they play they will tell you it's all good and you are crazy to think that changes are necessary. Lol...project Dynasty!
This is such a dumb analysis. Do you think that the Cavs would have played the same late in the 3rd or the entire 4th if their 3 pt shots weren't falling. They would have ramped up their defense and taken mlre shits in the paint, which would have blown up this entire rant. This is exactly why you can't use math or analytics for everything.

Cavs fan here, I love how every podcast after a loss is all about what issues their team has. It will take a minute, this is all new. The Cavs are built differently than every other team in the league, they are an entire bench team, they go 14-15 deep, they run with purpose, share the ball ane move in space on offense. On defense, they get to rotate bodies at most teams 8 man rotation and wear teams out, they run guys off of screens on both sides at all time. Nuggets are not the team to beat the Cavs, the Cavs have issues with wings and the Denver wings played fantastic and it wasn't really close in either of the two games. Even if you try to punish the Cavs by rushing out the 3-point line, that allows the Cavs two bigs to feast, the Cavs are built differently, they have been for 3 years, they are just now using it fully.
The real truth is this. Cavs are seriously Legit and the Nuggets need to make that zack Lavigne trade. MPJ isn’t cutting it anymore and you need a backup big Man
@@FloydPhillipsII cant they do a better job in defending the 3pt shot? (force tough shots, disrupt rhythm etc.) So the opposing team don't score as many 3's. But stick with what they've been doing. I think that would be a better fix instead of forcing someone to shoot more 3's. Their offense is good, they are one of the best offensive teams in NBA.
@@FloydPhillipsII They allowed all those 3s to horrendous defence.Which has been consistently bad all year. Its a roster construction problem which Booth has put them in.
It's not a math problem, it's a problem that this team can't guard the three-point line. I just watched the Celtics lose two games in a row to because they took away the 3-point line. It's a defensive effort problem with these teams that give up all these three. They should stop packing the paint and take away the 3-point line, defenses need to adjust to what teams are doing now and not play defense like it's 2004
It's totally a math problem! Can the Nuggets beat this team IF they are totally locked in defensively, and they're playing at a A level? Yes. They have Jokic. But, this was probably a B- game from the Cavs. They gave up 135 points! Darius Garland was 2 of 8 from 3 and it just didn't matter. The NBA is designed to reward 3pt shooting! Just jack up 48 threes and even if they have an average shooting performance they hit 19 of them (last night they did better and hit 23!) they win! It's just way easier if you don't have to play great defense every night. Every starter doesn't have to shoot great every night. They don't have to rebound great. Not every starter has to even have a good night every night. It's just easy every night. For the Nuggets to be dialed in all season like they have to be to win, is TOO hard! It's exhausting mentally and physically. After 3 years of this they are just dragging.
Joker's point was that everyone needs to look inward first and not blame eachother. It starts with the individual. He wasn't saying that it's all on him first.
The silly thing is even if he was saying what Matt presumed he said, it wouldn't mean anything either. Lots of guys that are viewed as "the top dog" or leaders of their teams, businesses, military units, etc., will say such things because that's what you do. Anyone with any real life experience in just about any field knows that's protocol. Kinda like when Jokic gave Markieff Morris that shot after a dirty foul and Jokic was all like: "I have to be better....yada yada yada". That's just what you have to say....I think most anyone with a functioning brain would know he'd do the same thing again if the scenario was the same. Come on. Matt just looks for reasons to crap on Jokic for stuff but then whistles past the graveyard about super obvious issues with this team, the front office, and the coaching to be honest.
Even tho I don’t agree with Matt’s perspective but i would rather watch him than watch the DNVR post game show where it’s looks like they are laughing all the time.
I know the Nuggets won the game they played against the Thunder but I remember the Thunder missing a lot of shots you usually see them make in that game. I wouldn’t put too much on that game in terms of a measuring stick against good teams.
My take on this whole thing, leave the offense as is, they are doing good they are one of the best offensive teams. They are generating tons of points which is good. The problem is them giving up a lot of 3's start with that. Focus on contesting the 3 point shot. Watch some tape see what some of the best defenders are doing when it comes to contesting the 3 point shots, limiting clean 3 point looks, avoid fouls while making players uncomfortable or those shooting 3's, ability to navigate screens, contest contest shots, reduce opponents' chances for 3 point shots, get back on defense quickly, work on zone defense to cut off shooters before they can spot up and shoot, chase the shooters through screens and stay attached, chase shooters around screens and switch on off-ball movements, switching on pick and rolls, help defenders rotate to the perimeter by closing gaps left by primary defenders etc. A lot of different things Malone should be working on....

That's not what we have on this roster." What an admission from Michael Malone! How could you possibly state a more damning indictment of Booth's roster construction than that! "We have Jokic! Instead you've got a miraculous 41st pick and a bunch of guys that can't beat the Pelicans 3rd string.
Denver lost to a better team, and there was nothing else to do. Denver played a great game, but MPJ and Julian are a total mess defensively. I counted 5 offensive rebounds where MPJ and Julian catch the ball and knock it out of their own hands, this is only between MPJ and Julian and vice versa. Denver was side by side all the way to Jordan technical , where the 19-0 run started. Denver players helped by losing the ball because they are trying to attack the defense as soon as possible, which is already well in place, five of them were given 2 from CB, one from Jamal, Russ and PW. On the other hand, again, Denver does not have a 50-50 trial, but the Cavs are awarded free throws for ridiculous contact, which Jokic did not get, I counted a total of 8 uncalled fouls on Jokic that were given to Cavs players. MPJ is an exceptional player, but his game was only in the first quarter and after that he commits three fouls in two minutes, which brings him to 4 fouls. After that, he only attempted two 3-pointers, both misses. A player cannot score 15 points in a quarter and nothing in the other 3. MPJ and Julian are completely out of focus and nothing will change there, it remains a pity that they took away the offensive rebounds 5 times by other Denver player, thus losing a safe 10 points because everything happened under the hoop itself. Once again, with all this, the Cavs are a much better team than Denver with a much better bench, which Denver unfortunately does not have, as well as size, strength, which was Denver's advantage until this season. It showed against Dallas, it will show against at least 7 other teams where the players bump away Denver players and easily make a layup or dunk.
Salute for actually providing analysis as opposed to 80% of what I read by many Nuggets fans who just want to yell at Jamal Murray (even in games where he plays very well offensively). FWIW I get a lot of their frustrations, but I also know Jamal at his best is one of the best offensive guards of the last 25yrs (especially in Playoffs).
@@superdopehiphop I wrote yesterday, as I did a few months ago, as well as 6 months ago...that 90 percent of people in the comments have no idea how a basketball team works. How to prepare a defense with schemes, or a zone defense... all the way to the attack where I'm convinced that everything looks great in practice until it goes out on the field. Denver's 48-minute game has 10-15 minutes where the players want to get rid of the ball as soon as possible by pushing it to Jokic, where there are many turnovers and then we see the frustration of Jokic through body gesticulation that he can't believe it. Denver played a very good game yesterday, but at this point the Cavs are a much better team. MPJ knocks the ball out of the hands of Julian, who picks up the offensive rebound, alone under the hoop. Not one already twicw, the same thing happened three more times only PW and Russ did the same thing. Denver's bench is too weak compared to 70 percent of teams, proven and it is not necessary to trade MPJ to make the bench better. They have Zeke, Saric, Pickett, and one of Julian/PW where I would rather trade Julian. In Portland, which has 4 tall players, he doesn't play at all. Duop Reath, who has a contract of 2.5 million 6 11, is an excellent player defensively and offensively, he can change Jokic, Gordon and one more player should be brought in, for example, Brogdan Malcom, I would give Portland a contract of 2.5 million whoever they want at the same value due to CBA, for the second player I would give Zeke+Saric+Cancar+pick In 2031, that's 16 million + the first pick in 2031, which has a huge value, because all picks while Jokic is in the team will be between 20-30 places. Already in 2031 Denver will be like Pelicans now and that pick will be among the first 10-12. There is no play off for denver with this bench and that is the biggest problem.
yes, MPJ is too good, and they don't even use him in Nuggets, last night he was 4 from 4 from 3pt the only one who keep the Nuggets in the game and coach take him out of the game, and no one notice in Denver that he was on fire.. there are not even highlight form the last night from MPJ.. I mean.. something is wrong.. he is 26 and FG 51.8 this season and they are talking about Zach Lavine trade to Denver for MPJ..
When you give up 80 and first half and 149 total its time for a coaching and fire Calvin Booth Michael Malone is a nice man he has the worst bench in the league he is not at good developing players has one of the worst defenses in the league he is no Erik Spoelstra
@Gnofg It's obvious you are clueless about basketball.Back in he 60s you could live in the key as a centre because there wasn't any defensive 3 seconds.Todays game centres can shoots 3s and you have to respect it.Wake up to today's basketball. Its team defense with multiple rotations.Plus years ago hand checking was legal in the NBA.Not now much harder to play defense now.Learn and educate yourself about the NBA because you know nothing and are cluess.
@ I have watched every NBA finals since 1965. I have seen every great defensive center. Simple question if a great defensive center is not valuable why are Wemby and Chet considered so valuable in today’s NBA on the defensive side? Why is it considered important that both shut down the lane? Think that one through. If you notice every team playing the Nuggets drive right to the hoop which then frees the perimeter.
@Gnofg Any good shot blocker is important but that doesn't win you championships in today basketball. Boston and Denver just proved that along with Golden State.

Your son didn’t need to catch a stray.
You know shit about basketball by saying that Braun is good defender. He has been destroyed by every player he played aganst.
The nuggets can trade MPJ and and Braun for Cam johnson and DFS im sure they would have to get a 3rd team involved for draft picks
No shot you guys hate this guy more than Blackburn
Baldie at least has justification for his takes, blackburn is eeyore
Reduct three points 6 for one quarter . Max 18 .points .
When you give up 80 and first half and 149 total its time for a coaching and fire Calvin Booth Michael Malone is a nice man he has the worst bench in the league he is not at good developing players has one of the worst defenses in the league he is no Erik Spoelstra
Defense starts at the center position. If you have a great center he allows the perimeter defenders to play tight and take away the 3 pointer.
Wrong it's starts on the perimeter and team defense.Stop blaming Nikola.
@ Why has every great defensive team been anchored by a great defensive center like Bill Russell? You know very little about basketball.
Matt mars u picku materinu
😔
How Matt completely ignores that AG is missing from game is beyond me. A team that lacks depth can’t survive injuries to one of the Core 4.
Refs just don’t let you guard shooters at all. Teams like the Cavs and Celtics chucking 3s all game is the reason viewership is down. Most fans don’t like watching that garbage style
Exactly awful way to play and I hope karma gets the Celtics and Cavs for being 3 point merchants eventually in the playoffs those 3s won’t fall
Well nobody was bitching about 3's 7, 8, 9 years ago when GSW started this style with Curry and Thompson so i wouldnt be complaining now. Get better shooters so you can keep up
@ or get refs in ya pocket magnetic 🧲
@@terrylew2209 they did complain and curry was the best shooter ever and they had klay and KD. Your shooters aren’t nearly as good as they were and teams now are taking more 3s than the warriors ever did lmao. And the rules changed to make it easier. Get the viewership up buddy
Serious question. Why would fans care about viewership? And if you think the Cavs style is boring, you haven't been watching. @@paulhiniker2489
I’m disappointed with Ryan, it’s obvious he is letting Swipers laughable limited bball knowledge rub off on him.
ATM the culture at the club has been eroded one way or another. If it’s the constant horn locking between Malone and Booth. Then they have to man up and put their differences aside. Fix this and you might salvage this season.
BTW I agree that the Cavs would beat team Serbia but by 100points ROTFLMAO. You’re letting your emotions get the better of you.
Ryan's not on this video...😂😂😂
@ no but Matt mentioned him
