Great video Tyler! I've been a rock singer my whole life. I've done gigs for 20 people, 100 people and over a thousand people. On stage, I'm on fire. Anything and everything goes. But, when a small group of friends asks me to sing at a party I completely lock up. This video is sooooo true!! Looking forward to your new music.

Tyler, I just have to say my hat really goes off to you! Over the last few years I have watched you grow tremendously through your channel. I know the time and effort it takes to just be able to hack through some standards, or be able to hang at a jam. There is no argument you are a great player. Aside from the instrument, the time spent listening, transcribing, time learning about gear etc. you have been able to hang with some of the best people in the industry! To have relationships with Mr PRS himself, Session cats like Tim Pearce and the numerous virtuoso powerhouse players, your doing something right!! There will always be haters out there but you get to make a living playing your instrument and doing what you love. Not being a slave to an hourly wage selling your own life for less than it’s worth. We know all too well how fame and fortune can destroy bands and artists yet not many people really understand the immense amount of work and hustle that it takes to be a working musician today. This video is great. Sooooo true. Hope you are enjoying your new LP by Patrick eggle, just don’t forget to give that 594 and SC245 some lovin too.

I've been a writer producer in LA for 30 years, won a few awards, had some hit shows and I have to say, as someone who knows crap when he sees it, you my friend, are not making crap! Your production values, editing, direction and acting are really pretty amazing. Clearly you've been putting your whole heart and soul into this since it started and well, it shows. Good on you brother. Thank you for this incredible channel. As a former student of the late RR, I can tell you without hesitation, he would have dug the hell out of what you do. Keep it up, man. Keep it up!!!

    Heres a few pro tips-
    1. Always practice 80% of ur time standing up. If u have 10 mins, 8 mins standing up
    2. Always practice loud. (Not 11 on the amp but loud enough to hear ur inaccuracies)
    3. Always put ur guitar strap little lower than comfort while practicing. When u are in front of an audience and slightly higher, its a big comfort boost.
    4. Start your gig with an easier song.
    5. Master the rhythm. Everybody messes up the solo.

There's a club in my town that has open mic night every Thursday. The owner doesn't care what you do, as long as it's no longer than 15 minutes and is entertaining. Some (most) just do a Karaoke of a few songs, some do a comedy routine, some play their instruments like a sax or acoustic, occasionally there's a magic show and things like that. I worked up a 3 song acoustic set with the backing tracks on my looper pedal. I did Sister Golden Hair, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) and Margaritaville. I practiced for MONTHS before I even attempted it, and had all three down cold. I have my GF do the vocals, I do the acoustic. My first show was the 2nd act of the night, so it was still very early. There were exactly 8 people in the audience. The owner, the doorman, 2 servers, a bartender and 3 customers. I sat down, checked tuning, did the "check two three..." on the mic and hit the looper. I looked up and all 3 customers were starring straight at me. My mouth went bone dry. I had no spit to swallow. I got light headed and flushed. I began to play. I stopped looking up at the audience and just focused on my guitar and watching my gf. She sounded so good! That was all the backup I needed and I did all three songs without a hitch. I got a standing ovation. All three customers stood up and clapped. Let me tell you folks who never have performed live. Those three cheering me was like a whole arena. It's like a drug. Like crack cocaine is to a junkie. I never felt more self satisfaction than I did that moment. My pay? Well, I got one free drink from the bar, and a drink from one of the customers. Best beer I have ever tasted. A month later COVID hit and we went into lockdown. The bar didn't make it. It went under and I haven't found a new one yet. But I will!

LOL, I didn't have that problem playing my instrument, fortunately. I always did my backup vocals right. It was when I had to sing lead, while the lead-in music was approaching my first note, as it got closer, my mind spun out of control. "Oh no, what's that first note!!!" ... "Okay, what melody am I singing!!!" ... "I CAN'T REMEMBER THE MELODY!!!!!!" The same thing happened when I played baseball as a kid. I did just about everything well. I had the best batting average on the team. If I got on base, I could steal. One time I stole from first to second to third to home. I usually fielded in left or center field. If I was hit a grounder I could get it and throw it to the catcher at home with one hop. But if I was hit a high pop fly ... ugh. I would be be like ... "Oh no, what if the Sun or lights get in my eyes and blinds me!!!" ... "What if I don't get under the ball!!!" ... "What if I miss it!!!" I've run up too far and had the ball go over my head. I've run back too far and had the ball bounce in front of me. I've gotten right under it and had the ball go over my glove, right into my forehead. I had one hit me in the chest. I'm sixty years old and still feel that one. I get muscle spasms between where the ribs where separated.
