@Alexander Ratisbona not all of them. Heard of the Scania Touring? It's a Scania bus with a Higer body on a KxxxIB-series chassis. Even euro bus manufacturers such as Volvo import only the chassis and leave the body building to some local manufacturers.

Even a modern-day New Flyer or Nova LFS city bus still looks older compared to other bus models, it's all due to North America's outdated regulation.
I also find it funny DAF is owned by PACCAR, yet even the newer Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks still look older compared to DAF XG/XG+, despite the fact Peterbilt, Kenworth and DAF do share some components.

When it comes to a lot of buses, other than amenities, they are basically "diesel pusher" RVs...
Hino & Fuso still the king of both trucks & buses.
One day, Fuso (owned by Mitsubishi Motors Corp that time), made their own double decker buses called the Aero King. They were the first to be introduced to the Japanese market in 1983. Nissan Diesel introduced their Space Dream on the same year, while Hino went on the last in 1986. Only Isuzu didnt produced double decker buses since they already had introduced their Super Cruiser lineup on the same year.
They were also heavily influenced by the European double decker coaches such as Van Hool entered to the Japanese market in the late 70s.
Neoplan also did enter to the Japanese market including their Megaliner 8x4 15-meter coach.

Some busses have the engine in the middle. For example 90s Van Hool AG300 De Simon.
Also the Volvo B10M buses have mid mounted horizontal engines.
The Volvo Ailsa has a front mount engine and still looks the same as a modern double decker. Volvo Ailsa buses were built in the 1970s and 80s model. Built and designed in Scotland

In South Africa, the driver's license requirement are complicated. For all commercial vehicles under 3500kg, you need a code B driver's license, with a valid Professional Driver Permit suited for that vehicle. Goods PDP can be obtained at 18 years of age, passenger PDP at 21,and Dangerous Goods at 25. For Dangerous goods you need to write a written exam before you can apply. Foor all vehicles up to 16000 kg, you can obtain a code C1 (for light busses and rigid trucks), C (for heavy rigid busses and trucks). A code EC is for all ttucks above 16000kg and busses with a combination like a trailer. Laws in South Afica are very complicated. Even trailers of a certain length can carry a certain total payload, provided the axle mass is not exceeded.
Here in the US there is a fast-growing trend with School buses and similar smaller/mid-sized commercial trucks going back to gasoline fuel due to how costly and fuel-inefficient the newest round of emissions-compliant diesel everything has become.
Sadly, we are now at the point where an emissions-compliant gas engine is more reliable, cheaper to own and operate, and has the same or better fuel efficiency (Real world numbers Vs as claimed number by the manufacturer) than a modern heavily neutered emissions-compliant diesel.

Just to let you know. The speed limit for trucks throughout the EU is 90 kmh ( 56 mph), and all trucks and buses have speed limiters fitted.
not everywhere is 90 some places still use the old speed limit of 80 Kmh for trucks and buses across europe

@@chippyyyy My man, I live in Spain and I drive truck. The only time and place that truck have speed limit of 80 is AP7 little before and little after Barcelona.And that's only Sundays and holiday Fridays. That's it.
@@mctx9371 Have not left Spain too far? Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Croatia, The Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czechia, Hungary are all 80 - Latvia even just 70. The only thing that is 90 all over Europe is actually the setting for the mandatory governor.

You should do a video on the differences in features of mack trucks and how easy they are to work on, Peterbilt for comfort and Volvo for safety. I have seen all 3 striped down in front of me and I have to say... Peterbilt has sooo many parts

In the UK, Alexander Dennis use the same engines in the integral Diesel versions of their buses as DAF use in their smaller trucks. For example, the standard engine in the Enviro200 bus *_and_* LF45 truck is the Cummins ISB4.5; in the latter of course it's badged as Paccar. And the standard engine in the Enviro300 and Enviro400 buses *_and_* LF55 and CF65 trucks is the Cummins ISB6.7; again DAF has it rebadged to Paccar.
Just because PACCAR bases it’s engines off of Cummins (which I don’t like) doesn’t mean they are exactly the same. PACCAR’s engines perform differently from Cummins’s Engines.
I like the Prevost which is now part of Volvo corp.

I always wanted to be a Greyhound bus driver. My choice of bus would be a GM bus with a 6/71 Detroit Diesel 2 stroke with a manual transmission.

In our country buses are truck chassis fitted with bus bodies because we can't afford real buses.
And they really do ride like trucks.

I think the American school bus is basically a bus body mounted on a truck chassis.
Most of them are, a lot of the ones with a hood have the exact same hood and front-end design as the truck counterpart

In the Azores São Miguel island I have been on an off-road 4x4 bus that was a MAN truck adapted for that purpose. Perhaps a subject which deserves its own video on this channel. in french we make a verbal difference between city buses and coach buses : when you have stand up places it's :"un bus" and when there's not any stand up place but only seats we say "un car" (not A car but UN car)
in europe, on highway a truck is allowed to reach 90 km/h (56mph) 80 is for 4 lane roads (national highways) and 2 lane roads, haz-mat haulers are limited at 80km/h on highways and 70 on 4 lane roads, most of the oversize loaded trucks are limited at 70 km/h

In the US would it be possible to convert buses into cargo trucks? It's like a straight truck but it's flat nose & the engine is at the back.. & would it be legal? Just like a passenger airplane being converted to a cargo airplane
Yes, it would work and would be legal, but very few truck operators want a truck which loads only from the sides... so they don't want a rear engine. Also, unlike with a bus or motorhome, there is typically no advantage to locating the engine in the rear of a truck.
Some people use old front-engine school buses as trucks, by removing the rear part of the body and replacing it with a cargo deck. The chassis under these school buses is essentially the same as a medium-duty truck.

A bus is just a different body on a truck chassis
Diesel bus is better if you need engine for long trips but electric is only used for city bus electric cannot be used longer than the minimum time of hours
You mentioned tata but not hino was beyond my understanding. Tata vehicles can't even pass the basic regulations of safety

Suspensions are related (and need to handle similar loads) but can be significantly different, so would have been a good subject of comparison.
Structures are not mentioned. While cheap buses (including most North American school buses and common shuttles) have frames like basic trucks of the same weight range, large buses are typically unibodies - very different from large trucks.

@@TruckTropia Nope the past Electric vehicles are about 130 years old at this point and they got way to many flaws they are not even zero emission until 41,000-91,000 miles and they produce mass amount of waste at the end of their lifetime and there range diminishes over time and they are 130 years old but still cost a absolute fortune and the more electric vehicles you introduce the more electricity will cost but the main point that will kill Electric vehicles is that the grid will not be able to cope with every vehicle becoming electric and then on top of that they are replacing Gas and Oil boilers with electric boilers and even if the grid could cope it will never work using no fossil fuels to make the electricity so long term Electric vehicles are unsustainable also if we got into a war and absolutely everything was Electric it is exactly what your enemy would target and soon as you have no Electric you lost the war because relying on one type is a weak point.
Oil as a fuel will be replaced by Hydrogen,Biofuel and Synthetic Fuel but not all fossil fuels will be phased out like Coal and Natural Gas will stay in circulation for centuries but Natural Gas will be phased out of being piped to peoples houses and mainly only be used for Hydrogen, Electricity and Gas Bottles.
People need to wake up and see reality climate change is not caused by humans and if you continue down the green path you will keep pushing more people in to poverty.But vehicle pollution does kill millions every year and millions of tons of oil end up in the sea every year that is why i support oil being phased out and then the reason I support stopping natural gas being pipe to peoples houses is because natural gas is toxic and all it takes is one gas leak to kill thousands of people.
