i love the girl so much, just a simple gesture of kindness towards her helps both of you survive in the end and you get to form a connection with her even though she is mute, but through bodily expressions (like tilting the head, a smile) just makes her all the more human and the [spoiler] ending has much more impact once you get those chances and i am just sitting here with funger brainworms. thank u frap

It's funny (aka, telling) that Ragnavaldr has the most opportunities to talk people out of snapping.
Really emphasizes that he's a genuinely caring person, and the only reason that he's in the dungeon is because of Legarde's megalomania.
The fact that Enki is the only one who can talk Ragnavaldr down is also telling- Enki knows what it's like to suffer, and that spite can be the best motivation to keep going.

the whole "0 mind = heart attack" is actually from another game called darkest dungeon where apon reaching 200 stress you get a heart attack. i think people mixed the 2 games up since both are similar
Ehhh that's still kinda weird to me, a lot of people believe in it
I have never played, so this is literally just me reading something off the wiki, but apparently a few of the ghosts wandering around can hit you three times and instantly game over you with a heart attack. Maybe some people got that confused with getting to zero mind? The Darkest Dungeon thing also sorta makes sense to me, though.
That's literally what I though when I first saw this urban legend. Tbh. mind and stress are kind of similar mechaniques in both games.
Yeah so weird thing heart attack is in the game. It happened to moonless on my first run after getting hit with thr ruin attack by the specters 3 times. Maybe it was intended to be a feature bc mind does drain from that attack. Maybe it only works on specter bc of spaghetti code or maybe it's specifically associated with the ruin attack. It is in the game though.
Also I love darkest dungeon dungeon WAIT "RUIN" has come to our family. Maybe a reference 🤔
Every video shows that this game has much deeper mechanics than I thought. I didn't even know you could talk to the girl like that, it's kinda precious to see her react to small acts of kindness.

So basically if the developer had more time or even a different engine (because damn I still can't believe this was made in rpg maker, its so limiting in certain aspects) we would have less bugs or broken mechanics like this
uh isn't that how literally every game works?
The switch to T&S caught me off-guard quite a few times at first that difference of 20 Mind points. I eventually learned to check more often, and not be cheap with the ale/wine/tobacco. Another mitigation is that I keep half my crew without Mind penalty. Usually, my final configuration is Rag, Girl, Demon kid and Moonless.
Hmmmm I think that config could have some more adult characters!

Mind has always been talked about and referenced in the game by people but I never knew the technical parts of it regarding darkness to the maps and how it works. And even the depths how it affects each character and each interaction!!! Very helpful!!! Thanks for the video Frappy!!! Very cool and informative!! :>

I could have sworn that, should the player character reach 0 Mind, they had a risk of not so much dying from a heart attack, but by "going insane" which still results in a Game Over.
It’s possible that you’re thinking of the fight with Rher in Termina, in which hitting 0 mind causes you to make a coin flip to see whether it drives you irreparably insane or not.
@@mr.cup6yearsago211 No, I could of sworn it was the OG Fear and Hunger, like the same screaming sound effect used for when you sacrifice the guy on the cross near the beginning of the game would play and you'd get a game over. Maybe it was in an early build?
You might be mixing it with the necronimicon coin flip kill that kills you by insanity
I like how Ragnvaldr and Enki has scenes with each other. It gives off this bromance vibe that I never expected to see from Enki.

i remember a F&H short & in that one the OP mentioned the supposed consequences of having your main dude reach 0 mind ,they then assumingly inserted a failed necronomicon coin event but it was just the last sentence of that event ,the one where it reads "you lost your mind." if i remember correctly & the "try again" screen,

Idk if they've patched it or not, but when you are in the tower in mahabre and you are reading a book (i think it worked for both present and past) the sanity goes up and you dont loose hunger. Idk if someone else knew about it.

I've yet to see another game attempt a true Sanity mechanic the way _Eternal Darkness_ did it. Partly because I think the mechanic is patented. But that said, it's questionable how enforceable that patent is. (Because it's like patenting hit points or something. I don't really know if whoever holds the patent cares to enforce it or take it to court.)
_Eternal Darkness_ has a sanity bar, and if it got low enough, you'd start to hallucinate in-game and also have meta wall-breaking hallucinations. Think _Metal Gear Solid_ Psycho Mantis type pranks. The game would lower the "volume" by faking your TV's volume bar, the old school kind you still had on CRT monitors. Or fake out the static from that era of television. In-game, your character would see the busts in the mansions following them around with their gazes, or your head would suddenly explode.
As much as I love Funger, it takes the lazy way out with simulating sanity loss. With a lot of games your screen blurs or something, your character says some stuff, they _tell_ you they're not well, but nothing really interesting happens mechanically. Funger just has party members leave your party temporarily, die of heart attacks if abandoned or develop a permanent Panophobia debuff.
And that's such a waste. You could do a lot of interesting set pieces and events and tie-in the game's lore. We know the oppressive "Fear and Hunger" part of the game is the supernatural influence of the God of the Depths exerting its influence over the dungeon, but we don't really know what that actually _means._
Funger 2 has the Mind meter once again, but it's not really justified any more. The God of the Depths is not in Prehevil, but your Hunger and Mind are decreasing the same way. Which is weird, because your character could legitimately need to eat several meals in a single afternoon to prevent themselves from starving to death. (Point of fact, I often just cheesed Henryk's cooking to get myself sustainable hunger restoration in a lot of my early runs. It's kind of immersion-breaking for me to run back to the same guy several times a day just to top myself off. Especially since Prehevil is an outdoor labyrinth, so he's sometimes legitimately out-of-my-way.)
And in both cases, it's a potential storytelling and simulation opportunity. In Funger 1, you could tie in the Mind mechanic to why the Crow Mauler exists or why the Guards are bestial savages without human reason. Also, because the dungeon is partly a magical environment, some of your hallucinations could become real ala _Silent Hill._ You hallucinate monsters who are able to hurt you because of your compromised Mind. In Prehevil, your Mind could be linked to becoming Moonscorched or Rher could show you hallucinations/visions which reveal a Lovecraftian "truth of the world." (But being that Rher is also a god of deception, we can't know that for sure.)
It'd be interesting if Funger 2 characters indicated they were becoming more mentally unstable with low Mind and eventually just become Moonscorched if you let them succumb to 0.

But Im like 80% sure I died of a heart attack though?? After beating sylvian in Terror and starvation I was at 0 mind, walked 10 steps and randomly died? (the only possible way i can think of is infection but i didnt pass amy screens?

To recruit ragnvaldr speak to him in the backyard, then enter thicket, and he'll be on the same floor of the eastern sword! Talk about some stuff and then ask to join!

I think the urban legend surroudning the heart attack might come from a mechanic in Darkest Dungeon (a game known similarly for being brutally difficult and also containing lots of cosmic horror elements) where whenever any of your heroes reaches the maximum stress (200/200) they will suffer from a heart attack and immediately drop to 0 HP.
Why can’t the characters just tell themselves’’it it’s what it is’’ that’s what I always do

I think the confusion over the heart attack is because of 'Ruin' which makes lowers mind and makes you get old and die of a heart attack.
So players probably see their mind go to 0 after being ruined a few times, and think that's what killed them, since you can't see the old age effect in the middle of the fight.
Ruin doesn't lower mind tho

Every time someone leaves the party you'll have to re enter the zone to re have the event, and no, currently there's no list of all areas!

There are (bugged) ways to remove panphobia, but it's supposed to be permanent!

Is it possible to make the girl stand up so she doesn't die? I was able to make her leave the party but I couldn't talk to her after she sat down so I don't know if leaving the girl alone is not possible or i forget something
It is possible, you need mind restoring items
I don't know why the back alley is the only place in my playthrough that is slow, it like delay 5 seconds each action in my playthrough.

@@frapollo94 i played today and turns out that this time it was the girl eand talking to her was the best decision i ever took in gale (the second if i count using the debug remnants left in the game).
Turns out that the game is weird when using the debug remnants D’arce (sorta) came back to life. Her corpse is still present within the dungeon but i have her in my team and she was getting beat by the dave dwellers when I got the cube. I don’t understand how she can be at 3 places at the same time (her corpse in the room where enki was, the « debug » D’arce in my team, D’arce getting beaten by the cave dwellers in the mines)
