this whole genre is underrated. so happy to be from the Midwest ✊🏼
Take THAT, coast states!
the genre is experiencing some kind of revival? :) i love it
@@trebmaster hey we got a pretty dope Post-Hardcore scene on the east so it’s okay
@@cashmoneykurwa7137 agreed, being from the Midwest in all.
I’m from Pennsylvania so title fight is like the theme song band here lol
Casual Discussion and Scared Enough are big tunes - great playing man!
Thanx ;)
officially requesting a snowing riff in the next vid. sam rudich? pump fake? outro to methuselah rookie card?
I'm convinced there will never be a genre that overtakes Midwest emo for me. I used to think just pure math rock was the pinnacle of music for me but god damn midwest emo hits me so hard.
(being from the midwest also helps)
I think it’s the fact that we relate to it so much, notice how math rock is played by people who look happy with their lives LOL
I just created a Playlist on Spotify based on these two videos of yours. It will help a lot in these quarantine times. Thanks!
Marlus Vinicios whats the playlist??
On Spotify?
Could you link the playlist?
Sorry, guys, I created the playlist but I already deleted it. Anyway, most of the songs that are in these two videos are also available on Spotify.
Well, I created the playlist again to reduce the work of you searching for the songs one by one.
Note that some songs are not available. 2 or 3, I'm not sure. That's it, enjoy!

The beginning of the Empire! Empire! song reminds me of my all time favorite emo song, Mineral “if I could”
Reporting from Michigan. Its gnarly to see Brave Bird getting love.
I saw them with E!E! In Ann Arbor in a frat house, where the record was recorded. I believe it was called The Metal Frat.
Sick shit my dude. Stay healthy.
been to metal frat a bunch of times but never got to see brave bird there :(( love them so much

Drummer from Montana here. How I will never go away from this genre. Want to start a Midwest emo band so bad.
Did not want to listen to "the summer ends" today. While it used to bring comfort, it now brings me back to one of the most painful times in my life. A developing teen still unsure of what love is, or if it even exists. Making mistakes and being willing to do anything to go back and fix them. Losing people, and pieces of myself. Beautiful rendition btw.
Thanks. I'm going to remember the old riffs of Christie Front Drive, etc.
The summer ends is so underrated
One of my favourite songs
@@thelastwordisrejoice9440 when they played it live it was probably one of the best bits of live music ever, the trumpet could have made anyone in the place start crying when it kicked in
I prefer stay home ngl
"Better Half" by The Get Up Kids has my favorite Midwest emo riff and I feel like it's severely underrated.
Rip Tim Landers. That Misser song is such a bop
hey i just started playing math rock. how are you getting most of these tones with your squire? types of pedals etc? thanks man keep up the good work
Upvote
i think hes using amp sims bro
_jjonez get a tube amp with reverb and you’ll get mostly close
there is a great channel called Let's Talk About Math Rock, he has a video about gear too
@@ketsuppi1984 Steve uses pedals and guitars worth thousands of dollars. doesn't go into much how about how to get tone on a budget. hence was wondering how this guy gets his tone on his squire
in this time of isolation and death im glad others are getting down and shreddin in their rooms hard core. sick shit dude.
Love ur way of thinking🤘
Thank you so much for getting me into the genre within your first video
I am glad to help you
ha that 2nd just sounds like going away to college
A lot of these bands were probably influenced by blink
blink is one of the mainstream pop punk band which has a lot of very emo songs /riffs
@@SandalwoodBros "The First Time I Got Fucked Up Was to The Party Song by Blink-182" by merchant ships comes to mind.
Amazing! Favorite new channel right here.
Yesssss, these videos make me so happy I feel like someone gets it ya know
what baffles me even more aren't the choices of songs, but how our guy plays it perfectly.
I can't believe there's no Minerals covers on your channel named "Thelastwordisrejoice" :-) I-iii long to heeear this sooong at least :)
That park jefferson riff gave me chills every time
mobo is the band that got me into all of this, seeing them here feels like hom
I love how your a psychopath and put stickers on your guitar, innovative
I love sooo much midwest emo and these videos!!!!! Thanks to make them, long life to music
Algernon Cadwallader!!
Wow. That Empire! Empire! song reminded me so much of Violent Soho
I’m from the north of England but it’s nice to be here anyway 😂😂😂😂
Technically UK IS Midwest of Europe... think about it
Brave Bird - Thick Skin needs to be on the next one
Thanks for the title of a great song!
I remember seeing your part I last month and then yt recommended this. Couldn't be more happy. Nice choice of songs

Liking the pick guard
I bought a Ibanez telecaster just to play midwest emo, it's such a beautiful genre
“MiDwEst eMo” a term coined long after the death of emo itself in the mid 2000s…
So what about southwest emo? North east emo? Southern Hemisphere emo? 🤔 🤔
Where can I buy that shirt
Please do another one with "Real Friends - I've Given Up On You"
thanks for the castevet riff... band needs more love tabwise!! feel free to do more fro
m summer fences anytime ; )
You got yourself a new fan and sub from Texas 👍, my son and I play mid 90's era pop punk and emo original tunes.
Literally any E!E! Song can fit on here. They’re not as twinkly and fast as others, but they carry so much weight
in sound they are closer to the old school, and I really like it.
Can u recommend a song by them? Cant seem to find them
Could you do a full cover of Castevet's Narrow Hallway?
OHUENNO
i love it
YEAHHHHHHHH
MORE OF THIS SHIT
You should do some this town needs guns covers
Revival*
Still not even the best Park Jefferson Song BRO come on you've had TWO chances now
goddamnit, I'm the 419th like, the fucking blue balls :(
Huh, all this time Andy McKee was just acoustic Midwest emo.
Hot Mulligan in the next one, please?
The fuck? The Summer Ends is in standard tuning?
Great job mate
Misser is a fucking sick band..sad what happened..loved them
dude ... empire empire! and brave bird..... are you from michigan ???? 2 of the best emo bands of all time
1:56 Two Good Things is very beautiful!
can you do a instrumental of misser? the music is incredible, but that guys voice is awful and ruins the song for me
Midwest Living is the only Midwest Emo song that somehow makes me happy, idk why.
I actually love these videos!
СУпер)
What amp do you use?
midwest emo is the best genre and you cant convince me otherwise
I guess Philadelphia is now considered midwest?
Great stuff!! Maybe in the next one throw in some Glocca Morra, Tommy Boys, You Blew It, Into It. Over It. !! Loved seeing CSTVT on here though
Glitch Ghost tommy boys>>>
damn your spider-man stickers are cool also great vid!!
Where is Hot Mulligan??!))
Thanks youtube for showing me this.
Hell yeah, Castevet.
My riff made it
@A Z you know it
Very cool man! Love the riffs! #E
I'm curious to hear how those of you out there discovered this genre.
For me it was Fall of Troy in high school - found CHON after - then Covet - then Toe which eventually led me to this rabbit hole
Discovered the song "Never Meant" by American Football through a meme, did a little research and came across the Midwest emo genre. Its kind of a lame way to discover such an amazing genre ngl lol
Which software do you use to make the drumtrack if I may ask? Sounds incredibly good!
btw. Where'd you learn these riffs from? I'd really wanna learn some Castevet (CSTVT lol) riffs but can't find any reliable tabs.
did it by addictive drums. I picked up a cstvt riff by ear, because I didn't find tabs on the Internet
@@thelastwordisrejoice9440 How do you figure out the particular tuning and chords like that? I mean do you just take a guess and see if it sounds right?
ahhh i really want your shirt man! so cuteee
You have such good fucking taste man. Documenting Thirty Days & Childhood are my faves from this video for sure
thank you;)
Dude in the next one please Estate Sale by Tommy Boys
Maybe
Thanks for recommendation
If only I hadn’t gotten into the Midwest Emo scene too late
#E
Also great video lol x
Castevet and Cadwallader
Isn't Midwest Emo really Chicago Emo? Everyone ripped off Cap N Jazz and Braid. Braid were in Champagne but that's because they were all in college at U of I but Bob Nanna is from Chicago. Most of the best bands from this genre have a Kinsella in it.
I always found it surreal having Tim Kinsella from Cap N Jazz and John Haggerty from Naked Raygun serve me beers at Rainbow on Damen and Division. You can't help but over tip your local bartenders when they're also your musical heroes. One time I tried to tip Tim 10 bucks for a $9 stout and he took the single out of my hand and gave me back the 10. I think he thought I was drunk and I was but I knew what I was doing.
DONT THINK THAT ITS UNNOTICED
отлично! чайлдхуд неплохо разобрал, сам недавно запил оттуда разобрал, ты молодец)
Спасибо, стараюсь)
The Get up Kids was like.. my absolute favorite band in High SChool. If only I knew there was a whole world beyond that.
Where's Never Meant?
i wanna play like this..
Holy shit thank you for doing park Jefferson I’ve never herd anyone else cover it
I was born and raised in northern Illinois. A good friend of mine recently moved down to Champaign Urbana and pays tribute to the American football house quite frequently. One of the few times I’m proud to say I’m from Illinois
I like your shirt :)
No hot Mulligan?
There's an Algernon Caldwaller live set on Hate5six's youtube channel, and it makes my soul so happy.
Wish I could like this video twice for CSTVT, AC and E!E!IWALE. Awesome work man.
Everything about the tones you get right every time
Oh thanks
I need that shirt
Castevet is the shit
Are you the owner of For Ivadell blogspot page?
nope
what software are you using for the drum parts? Sounds great.
addictive drums
Great videos, but nothing from Mineral earned the cut? (sad)
Teach me...
How do you do drums on your videos? Do you electronically program them?
Круто ваще!
Dowsing dont get enough repesct
them and worst party ever are criminally underrated
LISTEN TO MACSEAL. THEY'RE AWESOME.
Arianna C amen 🙏
no marietta? :(
