Man thanks for that video I'm working on one of this right now and I couldn't get the transfer case out , I was getting ready to give up . Great video thanks
working on my dads 97 f250 and its the same setup and we where having trouble removing the cross member as well thanks for the vid looks like ill be buying a pneumatic hammer to finish the job lol
Doing like this guy did and removing that cross member and leaving the bars connected at the A-arms is the easiest way to go if you live in an area with rust issues, like a coast or the north. I've seen these so rusted and corroded that people will unbolt and lift the cab up to get the T-case over the cross member or remove the A-arms with torsion bars intact. It's not a job you want to have to do unless you live in New Mexico or something, lol.
Mike my transfer case on my 99 expedition is stuck on neutral and won't go into drive, reverse nothing not even park! And when I try putting on park it makes a noise like if the wheels are moving and I'm putting on park! Could it be a vacuum problem or should I change my transfer? Please give me your advice! Please? Thanks u n God bless
I have a 98 f150 and has had problems shifting while in 2wd it shifts fine in 4wd but will not shift while in 2wd while in park it wont go into drive or anything
Dude, you state this is how your removed and installed a transfer case.......NO, it's how you removed a torsion bar, and then magically the transfer case fell out, and installed itself. No helpful info AT ALL!!! Thanks for nothing!!!
@@lamegame420 will the transfer come out without removing that cross and torsion? I'm doing it now and have the bolts off x member but stuck. How with out removing this crossmember
Hey Jarad, if i don't have a pneumatic hammer will a 5lb sledge hammer and chisel work? Thanks in advance i have a cracked housing and trying to replace it tomorrow
Hey Jarad, did you already have the front end of the torsion bar loose from the LCA or did you use the impact to break the bar loose from both ends at the same time? Thanks.
Nice, I ended up just cutting the control arm off. The ball joints were bad, so we were going to replace it anyways. My 4 pound hammer wasn't working very well.
Great video. There is another more detailed vid out now, but yours gives me confidence to tackle it myself.

I work on these often. YOU don't have to remove the torsion cross-member.
Michael Counterman how to u get it out in from or behind the member

David Britt The impact gun broke it loose from both ends at the same time.

Gotta pull a transmission and transfer case out of a 2000 f150 before I take it to the junk yard
why are you removing the torsion bar
He removed the torsion bars to get the cross member out.
its a pain in the ass my dad and i did it when i was 8
Get that atf out of that case use xl12 gonna destroy it
Don't do this.... Cut the exhaust!!!
Way to much work removing torsion bars, it could be done without, removing torsion bars or exhaust
Did it have room with removing the front if the transfer case to transmission' the 6 or so bolts' ?
