Alot of people ask about the paint guns I use, and the type of paint. Watch this video for details on how you can find out that info. ruclips.net/video/FGDVpPuHY7c/видео.html
My father died of painters poison from painting without respirators and proper ventilation. I have painters poison now. It is a really hard sickness. Make sure from now on you and your SON have more ventilation and YES do cover your eyes. Poisons do go through the eyes directly into the brain and central nervous system and destroy brain cells. I have many great memories of me and my Dad painting cars but don't do like we did and not protect yourself, religiously and thoroughly. I wish you and your SON the best and you did a great job under the circumstances. Remember to protect your memories by living longer and buy air supplied respirators. Wish my old man was here.He would tell you the same thing. Love you guys, God Bless!!
+Regen Ducere I just saw this, Sorry to hear about your dad and the fact that you got Iso poisoning as well. Its bad stuff i know. Your right we do need to do a better job. I haven't painted anymore cars since this. Only a few small pieces here and there, but yea when you spray a whole car you need serious ventilation
Regen Ducere I always walk in the booth without a mask I really wanna be a painter.... Probably would be painting without a mask if I didn't see this comment thanks ALOT
My drool cup... overfloweth!!!!So inspiring guys. I paid a guy 8 grand to paint my completely disassembled 77 step side black. At first I was blown away by the job he did but 6 months later I see flaw after flaw after flaw. If you want the job done right you HAVE to do it yourself. You guys knocked it out the park!!!!
Getting one ready for paint is the hardest for me..after the prime.after wet sanding...and I always go back over and check and I always find something I missed..because I get in a hurry..but at the end .always great .years later as well.
excellent job, I dropped to my knees and thanked God for the opportunity to paint before I started with my truck. I think my prayer went to voice mail.
Why so much hatred? this is a memorable father son project that this kid will never forget. Besides you can paint a car in your garage just take the proper steps to seal of your work area for a clean environment wet the floor and you can get a great paint job with good results and can say me and my son did the whole project at home and watch people aww and drop jaws awesome vid and the car looks awesome i love it im not a ford guy but i do love mustangs
Gary, you and Matt did a super job on your mustang! You are a brave man doing a candy paint for your first paint job I can't wait to see it running down the road!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. My father painted my 1967 Mustang candy apple red for me decades ago. It was so great to be a part of the process and nothing beats that color! Thanks for rekindling a good memory with my dad. Great job!
I love this video...I hope you don't get tired of me watching it...lol...when I'm not busy I just set back and look at it again and read the comments...this the video what convince me I can spray candy....
+SprayWayCustoms Lol, yea the comments on that one are priceless! I have watched several of your videos, your kicking but, doing some good work and good video production
Lots ot hate comments on here. That sucks because you guys are doing a project in your garage together and your boy is so happy. I say Gentleman...Bravo. Some wet sanding and a polish and you guys are awesome to go!!
youtube is a hive of hatred that you cannot escape, just like any modern popular media website. Best to visit a site more relevant to your specific interest to see more positive and realistic feedback.
You both correct...I feel why even comment if you don't have a tip or anything good to say...turbocobra nor myself claim to be professionals..we all on here trying to learn from each other
Matt is pretty even keel, doesn't show much emotion. He wasn't mad at all, he is just a boring guy, lol, but yea, he did put on a big smile at the end! Yea, I followed your blazer paint job when Pisser had it. I am sure he will make it good. He is busy and has alot going but I beleive he is a stand up guy. Enjoyed your latest video this morning!
Other then those few tips I am glad to see you spraying your own car. I always tell people there is nothing like the feeling of painting your own car and the look of people when u tell them you did it yourself. Great job
Good job, gentlemen! I've been reading through the comments - some good, some bad... Anyhow, I've sprayed candy before, and it isn't easy! I paint cars for a living, and I always tell people, if you can spray candy, you can spray anything! I also add another grand to the estimate for candy colors, just to cover the extra stress...
vikeirishman Good idea! I'm certain your god is concerned with your paint job. Not so much abused and terminally ill children, but the quality of your trivial paint work. How insulting.
I am not a ford guy, but like all flavors of cars, for a garage project, you guys did a great job, going to bring in the folks at the car cruises! And for the people who don't like this vid, go back to the dealership while your Toyota is in for a recall.
Well said! The haters aren't doing this because of passion they want to show off...these guys hunger for the shit just like I do. You know that feeling, plus you might just learn something if you weren't picking them apart...
I do frame off automotive restoration customization for a living and started out in a garage. The first car to bring home first place in its class up in Joliet Illinois Super Chevy was done in a garage (69 Z28). My son and I do many father son projects. It is something you'll always remember and enjoy together. Keep laying it down haters are gonna HATE and remember most hater are hating cause they wish their dad did with them or tgey wish they could lay it down.
#SprayWayCustoms the best results that i've ever had was with the Magic Painter Method (just google it) without a doubt the most helpful course that I've tried.+
Awesome pattern on that sagola gun. Very impressed!!! Looks awesome, can't wait to see the effects in the sunlight and under streetlights... Great vid, thanks for sharing it...
truly nice paint and body job taking in acount your paint booth, there very little amount of bugs in your paint, many garages with professionnal booth does not make things better usually, I irrigate the floor to avoid lifting dust with my feet, the gun blast and the hose itself an error that most of us is doing when building our paint booth is to install the fan on the succion, this way, we draw all the dust trapped in the construction inside the booth and in our fresh paint, the best way is to push the incoming air inside the booth, this way, you can use an oily filter to control the incoming air, the dust is expulsed from the booth and some fume too but your paint stays free from dust and debris you can use deployed paper fume trap at the exhaust to be sure to not stain something outside, it is cheaper than furnace filter and it will last much more longtime and you can add a furnace filter as a safety but if you're not close to a neighbor it is not mandatory
Some paint guns and paints need a higher air pressure to get the correct fan spray pattern and atomization of the paint. Candy needs a very fine atomization and a wide full fan spray pattern to get an even coverage and no tiger striping, Plus candy is a dye ( no pigment ) mixed in clear so it's very thin. There is nothing you can really do to get rid of the over spray fog, but a bigger spray booth exhaust system or more fans.
Matt and Gary I think the 4yr wait was well worth it.The mustang looks awesome and i am so happy for both of you.Looks great again and cant wait for the next video thanks guys later
mitmaks lmao first thought i had hahahahaha i paint down in Naples FL at a decent shop and could imagine the owners words if he seen me do that all about proper ventilation and prepping people really underestimate the amount of effect a proper prep job has on a paint job if it was blown off wiped with a proper prep solution then right before spraying tacked off it would be all on how they spray
+Fast_GT500&Nova_SS At least he is giving an effort do try something himself and learn from it all, a warrior in the arena and not a spectator in the crowd, I will always support the warrior in the arena, rookie or not.
+Fast_GT500&Nova_SS his technique is not perfect but I still think results came out nice, you should spray from bottom of the side of the car first and pull your wet edge to center, then draw from center to other side, bottom line is follow your wet edge. his spray pattern width is quite wide as well. BUt still my hats off to him for going for it.
+Fast_GT500&Nova_SS ... clearly no thought process in your comment....This guy is skilled from a collective called the garage gang here on you tube .....join it and learn something is my suggestion !
Thanks for watching. One gun has a 1.3 tip that I use for base, the Sagola is a dedicated clear gun and has a 1.4 tip. I might have put 1.3 on the screen, but it's a 1.4.
Yeah man. To answer your question I painted last night into this morning. I actually had to stop to go to bed and am clear coating today. So I think you beat me cuz you probably painted earlier on SAT I think. Looks awesome. Don't worry about bugs and dirt. Just do your 3 step 3M buff after a good color sand and it will be show quality. Good job. Good thing you went 4 coats on clear so you got room to cut and buff. God bless you guys.
i think you did a great job on spraying candy apple red!! candies are not as easy as they look!! takes patience & the good technique to make it turn out good!!
Great job boys. I've been watching all of your hard work. Finally this day has arrived. You should be very proud of your hard work. I can see all of Matt's girlfriends, lined up at the door, wanting to go for a ride......
Why are there so many haters on this? He’s painting a car in his garage. I’m sure it was learning experience for him and his son and maybe the next car they do will be a even better than this one. This man is a father and it seems he’s a good father at that. He’s doing something with his son. He doing something that a lot of fathers don’t do now days, he’s actually doing something with his kid that is something memorable. He’s taking an interest in his child. So what about too much overspray and all of that. It’s a beautiful car not matter what your preference is. Nice paint job!
i have done it all trucks cars motorcycles mechanical and body it was fun made money now i just work on my own and it is hard, so to see you guys still kicking it out and done right is cool lots of hard work,
great job guys. I have to do my painting in my garage also. Bugs are just a fact of life in garage painting. Think of it as giving the car some extra character :)
overall very nice job. doing everything yourself sure creates a sense of pride and passes knowledge to your son as well as building memories. A+ being good father and dad
great job !! you looked like a professional spraying that paint and a tip for future reference if a bug lands in the paint again just spray some extra paint over the spot the bug leaves and it will fill it in and be completely hidden..have had this happen before did that trick and you would never know it happened..good luck
Nice job..I paint as well and I still get nervous and excited when I paint just like I did on my first paint job..the bugs..I'll get a few myself sometimes.keep up the good work guys.
Lol, you can bring it here, but it will take us 4 years to complete, and your paint job will be full of bugs when we give it back to you! Thanks for watching!
You absolutely need someone to keep the paint gun full and clean with a big job like that. You are fortunate to have Matt to keep you rolling. Fantastic job guys! Don't worry about the Teredactyl's in the clear, sand their heads off an buff er up. Super job!
Man that car came out SWEET i love the color of it.. Matt looked all mad and stuff working on it and stuff at first BUT at the End the Smile came out That's what i wanted to see is that BIG ass smile on his Face.. Its all worth it Matt at the end Buddy as you can see now. I wish my Blazer came out that good.. i was just let down coming home to soon i guess But Pisser said he make good on it ... willl seee soon i guess
That was incredible to watch. I can't believe that you did all of that in your garage. After all of that work to get it to that point, you must have been sweating bullets while you were painting it. I know that I would have been more than a little nervous.
Brilliant..!!!...Once the top's done and it's on all 4's,there will be too much to look at for anyone to point any bugs and stuff....great job....and shit.!!..look how strait the reflection comes up..sweet..Full marks and a big thumbs up.
Yea, definitely could have used more airflow for sure. The side of the house is clean! Filters on the inside and out. Yea, we have a title for ours, but we never transferred it to texas, so starting to work through that. I appreciate all your good comments and support along the way. Good luck on the 68!
I bought 1 gallon kit, plus 1 quart kit. Mostly because I sprayed several test panels. If your an experienced painter and don't need alot of test panels, you can get away with a gallon kit. If your going to do all the jambs, back side of hood and trunk lid, 1 gallon may not be enough. Best thing to do is do the jambs and back sides of panels on one weekend, and determine if you need more and order more if needed. You don't want to run short in the middle of the job...
Alot of people ask about the paint guns I use, and the type of paint. Watch this video for details on how you can find out that info. ruclips.net/video/FGDVpPuHY7c/видео.html
Thks for great videos!! I have read that candy paint jobs only last a few years. What about if it kept garaged? What have you experienced?
How many leyers of candy to cover
What code for this colour

congradulation guys, turned out awesome,im likeothers, cant wait to see it outside in the sun,all your hard work and patience paid off, beautiful job
I like your saying "pray before you paint" going to put that up in my shop
vikeirishman Good idea! I'm certain your god is concerned with your paint job. Not so much abused and terminally ill children, but the quality of your trivial paint work. How insulting.
AceShoot why do people like you have to take a something funny and ruin it?
nathan blackwell Pardon? Where did I miss the humor?
He said his buddy told him " PRAY before you SPRAY".... not paint.
Great job guys, going to pop in the sun..!!
I am not a ford guy, but like all flavors of cars, for a garage project, you guys did a great job, going to bring in the folks at the car cruises! And for the people who don't like this vid, go back to the dealership while your Toyota is in for a recall.
lmfao "while your Toyota is in for a recall" I love that !
well, it's the truth! Old cars rule, built with pride and very few plastic parts.
***** a Toyota engine in it? Lmao haha
i will have to watch those as I have not seen them I saw a video of it running a while back I don't recall it sounding like a toyota engine though
Well said! The haters aren't doing this because of passion they want to show off...these guys hunger for the shit just like I do. You know that feeling, plus you might just learn something if you weren't picking them apart...

AHHHHH that spray sound is oddly therapeutic. That's one of my favorite colors.
Beautiful ! When hard work and taking pride in a job done right really pays off.
Congrats on the video over a half million views...well worth it
+SprayWayCustoms Thanks man!
#SprayWayCustoms the best results that i've ever had was with the Magic Painter Method (just google it) without a doubt the most helpful course that I've tried.+
Lol, well since you can't work with all the pain from the rain, nothing better than eating some candy and watching Tough Love Garage! :)
Turbocobra Excellent job sir! Even for pros that was a great job for a first timer, your son will love this experience with you! Hats off to you sir!
Joel Bargas Thanks Joel, appreciate it sir!
Ramsey Customs - turbocobra how's that paint holding up?? I been thinking of using their products
can't wait to see the wrappers come off on this. when you did the first couple passes with the candy it looked sweet red and silver with the fade.
CONGRATULATIONS GUYS, 4 long years work coming together, it doesnt get any better than that.. 10/10 all the way.. Del
That silver looks badass though !!!!
Thanks Brandon
I could see it with a very pearlescent faint pink on top.
Those Mustangs never looked that fancy when they were new, boys !!!!!!!
Congrats Gary...1 Million Views !!!!
Oh i didn't even realize, I knew it was over 900k, i know you liked this video, appreciate your support!
SprayWayCustoms we waiting on new videos.. might have to drop my 02 Yukon xl off to get the ball rolling
Awesome pattern on that sagola gun. Very impressed!!! Looks awesome, can't wait to see the effects in the sunlight and under streetlights... Great vid, thanks for sharing it...
truly nice paint and body job
taking in acount your paint booth, there very little amount of bugs in your paint, many garages with professionnal booth does not make things better
usually, I irrigate the floor to avoid lifting dust with my feet, the gun blast and the hose itself
an error that most of us is doing when building our paint booth is to install the fan on the succion, this way, we draw all the dust trapped in the construction inside the booth and in our fresh paint, the best way is to push the incoming air inside the booth, this way, you can use an oily filter to control the incoming air, the dust is expulsed from the booth and some fume too but your paint stays free from dust and debris
you can use deployed paper fume trap at the exhaust to be sure to not stain something outside, it is cheaper than furnace filter and it will last much more longtime and you can add a furnace filter as a safety but if you're not close to a neighbor it is not mandatory
Heck yea man, go for it! The sooner you get started, the sooner it will be complete!
Jeez drop your air pressure
Pycak Pycak yes, your air pressure is too high, blowing all over the place.
Did you just dab primer/sealer with your finger? lol
Uffff
mitmaks lmao first thought i had hahahahaha i paint down in Naples FL at a decent shop and could imagine the owners words if he seen me do that all about proper ventilation and prepping people really underestimate the amount of effect a proper prep job has on a paint job if it was blown off wiped with a proper prep solution then right before spraying tacked off it would be all on how they spray
Looks fantastic! I hope my Mercedes turns out, gonna paint it here pretty quick
nice color can't say the same thing about car
+david ellsworth you're a fucking idiot
Brother... this is stunning!!!
This guy has no idea what he's doing.
+Fast_GT500&Nova_SS Exactly, this guy is a complete Jackass and Moron, clearly this is the first car he has ever painted or something.
+turbocobra I didn't say all that. It just shows that no skills were involved in doing this paint job.
Beautiful video thanks for sharing .. this is what memories are made of ❤
Thanks for watching. One gun has a 1.3 tip that I use for base, the Sagola is a dedicated clear gun and has a 1.4 tip. I might have put 1.3 on the screen, but it's a 1.4.

Now that's one slick cobra. Love how dark the red came out, really compliments the body lines.

Congratulations on your car looks great you and your son make a good team you"ll have to make a video of it in the sun.
That was incredible to watch. I can't believe that you did all of that in your garage. After all of that work to get it to that point, you must have been sweating bullets while you were painting it. I know that I would have been more than a little nervous.
looks sweet !!!!awsome job guys
Brilliant..!!!...Once the top's done and it's on all 4's,there will be too much to look at for anyone to point any bugs and stuff....great job....and shit.!!..look how strait the reflection comes up..sweet..Full marks and a big thumbs up.

Revashin Pillay Thanks Revashin!
Yea, definitely could have used more airflow for sure. The side of the house is clean! Filters on the inside and out. Yea, we have a title for ours, but we never transferred it to texas, so starting to work through that. I appreciate all your good comments and support along the way. Good luck on the 68!
Bravo my friend! You both should be proud. It looks great.. I knew you could do it!..
Thanks Matt... definitely would not have been as good without all your help and support!
