- I was looking at an In-frame in my 2014 Kenworth W900L with a Cummins ISX-15 CM-2350.
Blow-by was horrible and it wasn't looking good.
Why Most Owner operators FAIL! This saved me Thousands of Dollars!!!$$$$$
I used Valvoline Premium Blue RESTORE oil and fixed the problem. Valvoline for the WIn!!

#blowby #inframe #engine rebuild Авто/Мото
This oil is a carbon-dissolver. It gets rid of carbon fouling up the piston rings. That's how it lowers oil consumption, probably in any engine, diesel or gasoline, although Valvoline specifically created this to "solve" the Cummins ISX 15 engine problems that were angering truckers. ... It's expensive because it's unique, but it does also have super-high-priced PAO, POE, and AN base oils, It's base oils look almost exactly like Racing Oils, no kidding, that is the good stuff, very stable, practically refuses to oxidize over time. Valvolines patents for this talk about it's Aniline Point, etc., too technical for non-chemists, but it simply works to dissolve carbon. I think it's mostly the POE in it that dissolves carbon, although I'm sure it's boosted by the other elements, all too technical. ... Valvoline puts the usual typical Valvoline Premium Blue additive package into this, so I think you can use this oil in about any vehicle you want, from a Prius to a Silverado, gasoline vehicles. .... If you order it, make sure you see the word "Restore" in the name to make sure you are getting the right oil here, to avoid confusion with other Valvoline oils. ... You only have to use this oil about every 50k to 100k miles. It's expensive so you won't want to use it too often anyway. ... This oil's HTHS is about 3.6, so only use it in the summer time in vehicles who usually use an xw-20 or xw-30, but it will be fine in the summer for those thin-oil engines out there. ... Use it at the track if you have a hot rod or race car, & drive it around town, no problem, plenty of protection, lots of HTHS for that, & the best base oil mix I"ve ever seen in an oil.
Thank you the info :):)
Is this oil still available? can't find it anywhere
Yes it is. I bought 3 gallons this week 6-21-2024.
Go for the gold brother!!! I have 1.6 m on my 05 international 9400i with a cm870 isx, still never been opened. You got this man!
I know that’s right 😆😆
@@MakeCentsTrucking one thing I do every 6 months is replace 3gal of oil with non synthetic ATF when I do a oil change, and run it for 10-15k. The detergents in the atf clean up deposits as well.

D13 never had to add oil between oil changes 968k , I had Cummins ISX engine piece of crap.
I had same issue same motor. cm2350. Did great at slowing the oil consumption down. Definetly worth it. Ill be doing it once a year ever year as recmended until i absolutely have to do an inframe.
Thanks Sammy always useful information man I appreciate you
My brother did it to his ISX and I was impressed. He did it 6 months later and after that it was around a quart low at 15000. Great stuff.
You saved big $$$$$ Brother 👍🏾👍🏾Congratulations!!!
This driver is so informative Thank you so much for your advice, I have a 13 isx and will be doing the same.
Glad to help, Thank you :)
My name is Dale and I'm new to your channel and I really enjoy watching your videos.
Same year same problem. I started using the Pittsburgh power catalyst and it has helped but still using 2-3 gallons in 18,000 miles
My Man you put out Great Content Keep it coming my brotha
I’m glad it worked for you. I didn’t have luck with it. I put the 13-14 gals in at oil change and went thru 8 make up gallons within 10k miles. Getting everything lined up for the inframe in the next week or two
Man that sucks 👎
$1700 Oil Change. From the Beginning
ruclips.net/video/Vvqj_ZXXYBI/видео.html
Do you have to keep using the 1700 dollar oil on every oil change?
Get you a pre 99 so you don’t have to run elog and no def your missing out buddy!
No
It’s just common sense that’s all! A pre 99 or a glider is the only way to go you can get 7mpg or better with a n14cummins and no emissions to worry about and run the way your business decides! But I wish you success!!!
You're smart, you keep up with maintenance and spend money where it's needed. Some folks may scoff at $1,700 oil change, but that a couple times a year is better than a $15K in frame and going out of business.
I run amsoil so I never add oil. I never burn it off. $400 for 16 gallon oil change. I also do 30k between oil changes. But I do run the bypass filter from amsoil. Use their flush to at oil changes (4 bottles)
Amsoil is the best.
I’ve been using it in all my cars and trucks for 20yrs.
That's awesome sammy my trk was using 3 gallons of of every 600 miles then spun bearing and it had so much blow by it looked on fire and now after 17500 outa frame my ol girl is doing great sage travels sir and be kool on stool
I was hoping it would work for you. like I said when you first did it, it worked wonders for me. And I receive no perks from Valvoline either. I run Rotella. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Sam I now have 992,000 miles on my ISX. Not using oil ever between changes. Was set at 600 hp when bought and still there. You are making me feel good on my luck of buying a used truck. Note go 12-13k on changes its never down and little to no blow by.
Thats awesome!! Good engine you have there :)
Sammy that’s awesome thanks for the update and tip
@Lydia Anderson randallacton7@gmail.com
I just looked this up
Gonna try it
They recommend once a year
I can easily set aside roughly 100 a month for the oil to save my engine.
Absolutely 👊
Great info.
Enjoy the home time
I’m going to try it in a few months!
Good news! I hope you hit that 1 million mark!!! My 2350 was only burning about a gallon by PM time at 17k. With about 530k on the truck. I think I lucked out. Got me a solid truck. Maybe one of these days I’ll put her back on the road haha
Yeah that’s pretty good there 👊
Good advice
I had a Cummins isx go out with a bang be a good idea to just do upper & lower inspection just to save you from the big BANG THEORY. Alot of low down so called mechanics preying on us driver's that are putting in work. We learn from experiences.
Nice info brother ! Trucker Nation
This has a permanent fix my 2014 389 had the same problem I deleted her fully and did the coolant leak fix along with the oil consumption and it is permanent fix just replace the seals of the injectors and piston cups and other stuff you will play a little but at then end it will last you about a lifetime believe me after that these isx work perfect
Agreed :)
Would be interesting to see an analysis of that oil out of the jug and out of the engine.
Do an internet search for it & read the hits on Bob Is The Oil Guy. Those chemists analyze it & posted the patent with the concise formula. Very unique chemistry.
Jerry is great. I like Haggai, I wish all mechanics were this good.
I have about 987k miles on my Isx and never used premium blue restore oil, was thinking about it though. Just did an oil change with an Amsoil again. I do oil changes 25-45k miles with oil bypass and run kerosene fit few minutes before dumping oil. Will try the valvoline restore at little over 1mil miles - time to clean it again.
How much kerosene do you add ??
Gustavo Hidalgo Jr. , about one qt, add it to hot oil, idle for 10 minutes or so and drain the whole thing. 1.05m miles and only don’t rods n’mains at $850k, with oil pump.
Great info, be safe
Do an internet search for it & read the hits on Bob Is The Oil Guy. Those chemists analyze it & posted the patent with the concise formula. Very unique chemistry hence the cost. Developed by famed oil tribologist Terry Dyson now retired who Cummins approached in collaboration with Valvoline.
Cool stuff. I’ll be sure to watch it! Thank you 🙏
Thanks man!!
Awesome video great information Wishing you all the best Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Same to you!
Well, I just did the restore oil change, after using ftc carbonizer/flushing oil concentrate. Minutes later my oil pressure dropped to 0, and coded, engine shut off. The oil was black sludge. Threw clean oil in, ran 10 minutes, drained, black sludge! So, in went the Restore, and new filter. Old filter was gunked. Need to change fairly new cc filter, and fuel filter too. Hopefully this Restore will clean anything left out.
🙏🙏🙏 it clean it up bro
Great info
Bro, i had 3 isx .. volvo trucks ..You have to put synthetic oil 15w40 or 5w40 rotella T6 plus antifriction and black Donaldson filter blue or black .. extended oil interval..
Good luck i was changing oil every 60-80K KM .. change filter in the middle ...
My isx did close to 2M KM
You can just use the Restore Oil Additive @ 1 bottle per gallon of oil and reduce the oil by appx. 2 gallons for the capacity the additive takes up. This will add about $100 to a standard oil type service. And for cleaning use Seafoam for a couple thousand miles before service
No.....not the same chemistry. Do an internet search for it & read the hits on Bob Is The Oil Guy. Those chemists analyze it & posted the patent with the concise formula. Very unique chemistry.
Saw you yesterday 11-19-2020 eastbound on I-20 sliding threw dallas,tx around 10-1030am

i dont get it
i use delvac from mobil1 and if i lose oil i will add. i rarely do it and usually change every 10k miles. how would this valvoline helps? do i just use the valvoline all together or keep using delvac and add the treatment whenever i burn some oil ? or what exactly
I'm just happy have I've been lucky with my 2000 t600 N14. I do service every 12,000 miles and haven't add a drop of oil but it does scares the crap of Of my of doing a overhaul one day..
N14 is cheap to rebuild and a great engine
It's a rather common problem in those 13-15 cumming. I have friends who have the same problem and it can probably be the crank filter. it's supposed to consume oil
Does the 2017 and up Cummins have the same issue, am currently dd15 cascadia a lot of shacking and vibration
Im an old l truck mechanic, 30 plus year. I dont have a big truck but have a 2005 Ram with a Cummins. Since new ive used Rotella T and add about Quart of ATF . My engine is clean. It has 300000 miles no problems except 6 new injectors at 180000 miles. If I was a professional Owner operator and I would do thhe same thing but maybe use aa gallon of ATF
That oil is super clean for that mileage!! Wish my oil would stay that clean.
Due to the delete, soot going out exhaust instead of back into motor.
I had bad blowby on my dd13 engine I think I was losing about a gallon of oil after 7 to 10k miles, I changed my crankcase filter in I haven't had any blowby yet but I haven't been on the road in a couple of months so we'll see what happens. I have about 675k on it btw
I have a 2006 International with a Cummins ISX 15. I have over 1.4 million miles on that truck. (I bought it cheap) No blow by when I bought it. I'm now wondering if this was done? Last owner did tell me he didn't rebuild the engine.
I'm not driving now, but in the spring, I'm going to try this. The only thing that happened to me was an injector pump went out. Easy fix.
Get a "Gulf Coast Bypass Oil Filter". It keeps your oil clean all the time. You don't need to change oil if you have a Gulf Coast Bypass.
Run Amsoil with a Remote Oil Filter and won’t have any trouble. Engine will last super long before Inframe.
Hey boss I know your a busy man but I’m going to pm you, so when you get time take a look. Thanks.
I seen this video I wish I did that to my Detroit cause I’m at 18,280.00 for and overhaul 😩😩🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I'm looking at ordering some for my isx
Getting a truck soon doing that asap
Amsoil works also $30 gallon cleaned out the engine real good first time I change over to amsoil had trouble with oil filter clogging
Thats a next move, Amsoil :)
@@MakeCentsTrucking Did you do oil tests before and after ?????
Check out pittsburgh power fuel catalyst... good stuff I use it in my isx cuts down on soot and carbon packing..a lot cheaper.
I use Pittsburgh power on my isx and it does help with the soot/less regens.
I'm loosing about 2.5-3gal between services, I start looking to change it at 15k. I think I'm gonna try this. Thanks Sammy.
Hey, lets us know how it goes!
So you do it ever oil change or just once or twice a year
Would it work for a duramax diesel engine
I have a 2015 isx cm2350. I bought the truck used with 415000 on it. Its uses 2 gallons every 2500 miles. It came with a 2 year 200000 mile warranty on engine and def system but so far warranty hasnt covered anything. Learned alot about so called warranty after this! I think ill try your fix! Thanks for sharing!
What did you this time to your truck again buddy?
i wonder if its just a heavier weight oil.. cant get past the rings as easy. go back to normal oil see if it burns it all up like before. or the fancy stuff actually fixed somthing.
I might need to try that with my 15 DD15 with 760k miles. I don’t use any oil between services, but if it can help with carbon build up, it might be worth trying.
If your truck is like mine, uses no oil between oil changes, don't change anything because there isn't anything "better"
Bro, if it dont use oil, i wouldnt :)
Thank you for this. I was wondering about your results! I think I'm in need of a Blue Restore Oil Change, myself. I'm definitely going to do it now.
Yes sir :) I Pray you get the same results :):)
Stick with 5w-30 Delvac 1 synthetic and you'll never need the fix it in a bottle solution for an ISX and you won't have the top end oil starvation issues
I remember that
What are your thoughts of adding a bypass filter to extend the length between oil changes? Do you think an added filter would break down oil viscosity? I insta9 a bypass filter on my '12 freightliner and you can definitely notice the cleanliness of the oil.
Ask DYI SEMI. He can help you out more.
i'll be adding a Amsoil by pass system after i do this again. I'm a fan. NO, the viscosity breaks down because of dirty oil, keep it clean and you can keep going :)
that oil looked really clean too
Yeah that cleaned all the gunk out :)
I sold my 2007 International 9400 I with an ISX Cummins in it with 1.5 million miles. When I talked to the buyer when I saw him he said it had two million miles on it and he had had no problems. And it did not have an end frame.
Nice!!

That Valvoline restore is that just for the Cummings??
Sammy I have to admit, I am by no means an easy sell. I keep trying to rule you as a fake but always goin strong and cant find an angle. I will if needed try this product out. Thanks for the review. Enjoy your Thanksgiving doGGie! God Bless
lol I mean what i say, say what i mean. I talk about what i do or have done. Thats just me. Aint gotta lie to be cool 😎
Two questions. Where can i buy this oil? And did you use any special oil filter or the same one you always use
check my community post :)
Stay safe
What you can do is what I did. I paid was 74.98 per gallon. I ordered it through Peterbilt then I told them I could buy it through Cummings for 74.98 then they will give it to you for that price by the way I still have do a over haul but only because I am getting antifreeze in my fuel which means it is my injectors cups and my friend said that you might as well do a over haul. My friend is only going to charge me 13500 but only because I known him since I was 4 years old friend of the family
Yeah i agree, might as well
About 4 years ago it was 73$ a gallon.
Sammy, would that oil do anything for my 2007 C15 Cat Acert? It has 935k miles on it with minimal blow by. Like you I'd like to see how far she'll go before I do an OH.
My friend has one with 1.4 mil and he changed only few injectors. He's loving that engine.
Get remanufactured motors drop in keep on trucking best
Yes it is worth it.
Soon as the hood was raised I seen the problem 👍
That's where I live in griffin
what is Blowby and are you taking it to a blowby test ? Think the pre dpf engines had a tube for blowby. Just wondering how to detect the amt of Blowby.
burning oil. Based on oil consumption :) From carbon packing around the rings allowing oil to pass oil into combustion chamber.
Give Hot Shots Secrets products a try. I have no issues on my 2015 Volvo D13 with 809k miles so far, but just started using 10w30 full synthetic green Diamond fleet oil and put 21k miles on it so far and of course I’m doing oil samples and still good so far.
Nice Kenworth

Where can you find this stuff? I cannot find it online anywhere so far
Call your dealership. I couldn’t either. (Make sure it’s the RESTORE, Premium Blue. Not just the regular oil. Has to say Restore. I’ll post a community post with pic 👊
Is this type of oil treatment for every oil change or just once a year? What are the recommendations?
No just once. Or every 150k miles or so. I’ll just use it if my truck develops oil consumption again.
Where do u get that oil I’m interested I got a lot of blow by
Call your Cummins or truck dealer ship. I couldn’t find it online when I ordered. Posting a community post with pic
And what is itcalled again valilean premium blue
The blow-by are from defected valve stem seals. Pull out the exhaust manifold and look at the exhaust ports.
blow by i'm talking about is from carbon packing on piston rings
If your oil was cleaned, you don't have alot of carbon deposit.
Worn valve stem seals would cause more crankcase pressure (blow-by). Excessive blow-by is a cause of constant oil burning.
Something here
GOD
For that amount of money I think I would get off my but and change my own oil .... and I would have another engine built to the max sitting at my shop with a new clutch assembly... never hurts to have spare parts
The oil alone is $90 per gallon, so... that wont save you much. PLus you have to deal with taking the old oil to dump.
Keep on keeping on oil grease are cheap for what they do pull toy here
Thats right :)
Got a dd15 used 2 quarts oil in 15000 miles I’ll count my blessings lol
590000 miles
Less oil burn will probably increase the life of emissions equipment for folks that cant delete.
Detroit DD15 or a Cummins or the Paccar engine? Which is better in your opinion?
I’m a Cummins fan. Easier to work on. DD15 is more reliable not having any mechanical experience or know how. Paccar, I just don’t know any shoo thy knows it well enough. So I can’t say there
Genuine question from UK. Why do you change your oil so often over there? Normal oil change in Europe on a Mercedes OM471 series (that's basically the same as a DD13) rated at upto 530hp is recommended at 75,000 miles the Volvo D13 the same and DAF will let an MX13 go up to 125,000 miles with specific oils and operations they do get cam problems though. But the Merc and Volvo are both bomb proof at higher maximum outputs than you use. Seems odd, is it for an engineering reason or just habit / dealer profit?
The norm here in the states is 20k miles as a OO. As a fleet maintained truck, they run them to 30k-75k miles. The give no shits because it a lease truck and have no ownership.
What year is your truck? And what is your full miles/ gallon..asking because I’m looking to buy w9000 truck. Probably 2000-2005 model. Thanks
2014. Depends on how I drive and weight. Baby it heavy and I’ll be 6-6.3mpg. Heavy and rolling fast I’ll get 4.8 mpg. Light I’ll be 7’s babying it. Light and going fast I’ll be in 6’s
Lol wish you would of posted this about a month ago...literally getting a inframe done on my cm870 right now looking at over $16k
