As humorous as this is I do appreciate a pro looking at this. This is what my boys 5 & 6 used recently and now they want to have a go at home. Ive got a small backgarden so obviously im not going to be using any steel tipped arrows etc so this video does have its place. As a parent, thank you.
Now, that was fun. Boris changed my whole perspective of archery, now i only want to shoot this takedown bow with plastic arrows - from horseback (using takedown plastic horse), 10 meters. Maybe piggyback - not for beginners, tho. Woah. Thank you for the professional review, really enjoyed the humor ^^
Had this one for my kids..he started with this last year n now can shoot with the next version of bow from decathlon where the arrow pass on both side (like normal trad bow but have groove on both arrow pass so the arrow won't fall) and yeah he enjoyed it..he 3 years old now and can shoot up to 10m now just for fun..n now for this bow I'm using it as my kepaze bow which help me a lot tho 😊 anyway again its like you said it is suitable for fun and most important thing SAFETY to our kids and neighborhood especially during MCO period ✌️
We don't have this Set with the center hole, but the Decathlon "Discovery Junior Red" for 14,99€. It also has an ambidextrous handle (without hole, more like the snake actually). And does not look so recurve-y. We also shoot the sucker-arrows and my 5-yo daughter can do it safely (she is left handed). And i have fun shooting it thumb-style, or two arrows at once, or with a sword in my hand... Yeah, I guess I should stop watching Turkish Historical Drama TV or upgrade to... to a Rolan Snake...
bought these bows for my granddaughters in 2018 £15 + £5 for three arrows, stuck a 40cm target in the shed window. they had countless hours of fun. hen they stopped missing i bought them proper bows and field arrows and foam targets.
My 6 years old son has this Decathlon bow, and my 10 years old dougher has a short Snake. Armin, I mostly agree with you that Decatlon bow is for fun, while Snake, even short one, is a real bow., but not at all. This Decathlon bow allows me to leave my son shoting alone, without worrying that he'll injure somebody. As a result my son can shot more often as he doesn't depend on my ability to stay close and keep an eye on him. So in my opinion at's a good choice for parents who want to instill interest in arhery into their kids.
Hello Armin. Not bad at all, this bow set. The drag coefficient of the arrows, of courses, is only suboptimal. But for a 3 to 5 meters range, who cares. - And, btw, shall we call you from now "Boris of Malta"? Anyway, thank you for reminding us "once upon a time there was someone on a former European island whom they called Boris ...". Wonder where this island swam to :-). Greetings.
I bought the aldi set to use in the garden, it's much the same, it did its job, 3 of my friends ended up buying sets too after playing with mine at bbqs. All now shoot regularly at there local clubs, one with longbow, one recurve and the other compound. Just wish the arrows where longer, although the rubber point hitting the riser sort of works like a clicker...
Love the review! 😂 I actually have a very similar kit from Aldi that I use for archery sessions with Beaver and Cub Scouts, because I can set them up pretty much anywhere and without the same safety constraints as using “real” bows and arrows. The draw weight is still quite heavy for the smaller six year olds though, so I’m looking for something better. You’ve actually made me feel really good about my Aldi kits! I DID look at the Decathlon ones online but rejected them as the Aldi kits came with three arrows at the same price. Turns out that was a good decision, as the Aldi targets are much more solid also, having a bracing bar so they don’t wobble. Going to look at the Snake bows as a possible next step up, but as none of the Scout groups I work with have space for a range of their own, I don’t know how much use I would get out of them…
Nice review. :) I have just one question - why is the bow shooting to the right with your pointed arrows? I have the Discovery 100 bow too, shooting it just for fun as a form of a rehab of broken shoulder. When I use glass fibre Discovery 100 arrows, which are simply a 31" variant of your 'sucker' arrows, just with a pointed arrowhead instead of a suction cup, but with the same one piece plastic fin section, the bow shoots just perfectly straight, with no need for windage correction in aiming. But when I use carbon fibre Discovery 300 arrows (which are said to have spine 600), 32" long, with noticeably stiffer shaft and bigger, soft rubber fletchings, the bow shoots to the right indeed - in the 10 m distance the impact point is located some 40-50 cm to the right of the aiming point. What is the cause of this phenomenon?
boris the olympian =D too good video haha. i had similar bow when i was 6-7. boys are boys so of course we took the rubber arrow tip off and added a darts tip with tape. target was our cabin door so all it took was my mom opening the door and arrow hitting about a meter off of her for me to loose the bow. i wonder why. then i got easton compound bow for christmas to start safe archery =D check your kids they can do some weird stuff if left alone =D
I have the very similar kit from Lidl (or Aldi, can't remember) and it comes with one extra arrow. All the rest is the same. I have a boy who is quite dangerous with normal arrows so he is using this one and the other uses the Snake one.
You are the Van Gogh of sarcasm!😂😂 Aaahhh BJ...bet he stole that bow took it home with him.⭕😜 I will give it one thing, that THWAP when the suction cup hits the target is quite satisfying. 4 points.
Thank you, Armin. I have some small Chinese bamboo 5lb ish bows at 12in for the smaller nephews. One I converted to a twin bow & made miniature arrows. I was surprised by the difference the narrower arrow pass & lighter arrows made to the accuracy of the bow.
Hey Armin, have you ever tried a Kaiser bow? I've seen a Kaiser Eger at my local store and I am curious what you may have to say about it. Best regards.
@@ArminHirmer I bought it. I have no comparison to other bows except for the used recurve bows from our club and this one is soo much better. It feels and sounds really great to me. Maybe a bit heavy but i think I can get used to it. mine has 35 pounds and i shoot 700 spine (i hope that is correct :^)) and I measured that i draw around 30 inches. Unfortunately I couldn't find any review about this paticular bow or others from this brand. Best regards.
All jokes aside i have this bow as a 23 year old only because i can only shoot in public parks where i shoot. I hope it makes my aim better for when i can afford to shoot my normal recurve with regular arrows in the future…
Question, completely unrelated to this video, but which could be the subject of another: if you were to keep and shoot only one bow for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Tough question...I think it would be the strongest bow that I can shoot without getting tired quickly, which is my 58# Şimşek currently. So it's my "fun shooter."

The problem I see mostly with you shooting this bow compared to the master archer who first used this bow. Is that your shoulders are not near high enough. 😆 😆 😆
lol you're just shooting 10s at 10 with this nonsense and I can barely hit the gold at 10 with a normal recurve or long bow... so much to learn, apparently. Must message the PM

@@mariushoyt2131 I was making a joke, friend. I wasn't talking about their bows. But talking about bows, my first real bow was their Initech recurve.
