The last part of the first part of the ship horns is my favorite just the aura those archimes AND the lone Khalenberg just screams "LAKER SHIP" would love to see a full video of ship horns!
Nice! I like horn honk events. There is also the Altoona horn honk and the Monticello horn honk too. I like the K3LP at 25:05. It's nice that you got one.
At the moment it’s a private event but discussions have been had about creating a public event. If that happens I will defiantly talk about it on the channel!
For those who don’t know about NHL goal horns: 4:54 sound like Seattle Kraken goal horn (and 3:38) 5:09 sound like Nashville Predators goal horn 6:09 doesn’t sound like the Islanders horn 3:53 sound like Flyers, Blue Jackets, Blues, Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Lightning goal horn 4:18 sound like Carolina Hurricanes goal horn 6:36 sound like Montreal Canadiens goal horn 9:28 Sound like Winnipeg Jets goal horn Bruh I have a lot! if there’s anything missing, reply if there’s anything missing.
3:38 is closer to the Kraken’s goal horn, due to it being a single horn. There is actually a real boat horn installed in their arena: an old Doran Cunningham 6B I believe, off a decommissioned ferry from the late 60s.
16:31 I really hope this didnt come off of one of the many BNSF K5HLBs that were stolen... Almost all of the originals are gone now, only three are left anywhere on any railroad because they have all been stolen, with they were still out there more commonly and people stop stealing them
@@epatch Oh, there are many places. It depends on what kind of horn chimes you're looking for though. I'm assuming you're looking for Nathan K-Horns, so I can talk about that. The K-bells on K-Horns have gone through many changes over the years, so depending on the era the bells come from will also determine the cost. (Older = More expensive) If a horn is common enough, it's more cost effective to buy the full horn itself, but if it's not, it's a better idea to buy the K-bells that make up the horn. The horn I mentioned previously is the Narrow Font K5HLB with a 2 piece 1L. This is an extremely rare horn. However, the bells used (1L, 1, 2, 3B and 4) are not, so it would be more cost effective in this situation to buy the individual K-bells. On the contrary, a horn like the K5LA is very common, so it would be more cost effective to buy the full horn itself. Currently, the K-bells in production are from the "Raised Letter" era, and as such, getting them directly from Nathan Airchime is a possibility, but only if you own some kind of business profile, as Nathan Airchime does not sell to individuals, instead, you'd have to look to one of their resellers, HornBlasters. Be mindful though, as HornBlasters tends to jack up the price substantially. The K-horns they sell are the K3LA, K5LA, and K5HL. If you buy the K5HL and K5LA from them, you'd have all the K-bells needed to make a majority of K-horns (except for the 3B bell). But not everybody is a fan of raised letter bells, as they are not as well tuned as older K-bells, but they are by far the loudest. If you decide you want other eras of K-horns, you can look to places like E-Bay, the Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, and Mercari. If you live near a railroad, and they are retiring any locomotives, you could also pitch an offer to them about the horn. Some people do in fact buy their horns from railroads. Budget horns also exist, but they are not authentic, and I take it that you probably want to own a horn that was/would be on a locomotive.
@@TheRailfan360 Wow, great response; thank you! I grew up ~ 1/8 mile from a track that would constantly have trains and then lived a few miles from a train yard during middle and high school. I always liked the sound of the horns. I just recently found out that you can actually own these and became quite interested in finding one. My wife think’s it’s a great idea LOL… I found Hornblasters, but they’re cost prohibitive at the moment for the authentic for sure. I found one on eBay but from an article I found said that this model is a bit unappealing due to the sound (the way I read it anyway); it was a Nathan K5HL. Loud is good, but I’m definitely more about the sound it creates. I think the K5LA sounds like what I remember.
@@epatch You're welcome! I see you mentioned you found a K5HL on E-Bay. Based on that description of it sounding unpleasant, I'm guessing it's a raised letter K5HL. It's an aquired taste for sure, but it is among the most popular horns in North America. Also, if you like having a horn sound that resonates with you, a good way to tell what it will sound like is based on the name. Here's an example: K - Shows it's a K-Horn 5 - 5 chimes in the horn L - A low profile manifold (Has a linear shape compared to the high profile manifold, represented by H) A - Indicates American tuning American tuning is often regarded as more pleasant, if there is no A, it is then assumed to be Canadian tuning, which is a lot more dark. If you see a B, then it's a downright scary sounding horn (If it is raised letter). Finally, if you see an L as the fourth symbol in the name, it's going to be a deep, bassier sounding horn. Hope that helps!
For the K5H/K5L fans:
10:38 - Belknap K5H

21:09 - 1996 BC Rail K5L
24:39 - 2017 RL K5H

25:40 - NRL K5HR24

First time love at first sight from a thumbnail. Such heaven on his garage floor.
Finally a honk video with plenty of horns and hood audio and no background noise

That belknap 990 sounds like a k3
The Early 2000s Buell B5 sounds like a K7X
What's the difference between Holden and Nathan horns anyway?
Holden was a company that sand casted horns for AirChime. Nathan AirChime on the other hand has their horns die casted by Simalex.
Do you know what engine the Utah Central Railway Horn Came off of at 29:45? I can't seem to think who!
Man unfortunately not. Wish I did!
25:05 honestly sounds like via rail emergency horn
Winnipeg invited me here 18:19

I REALLY want that K5HLB
Gotta get mine up on the channel. I like them as well!
Awesome! When/where is Horn Fest 2024?
It’s in northern KY. And unfortunately, it’s a private event. (Not mine) so it’s invite only. But I’ll have a 2024 vid up in the next couple months!
@@TheHornKing Understood. Will stay tuned for the next one!
The grand trunk m3r1 was a Nathan m5
Do you plan to ever open up this event to other horn collectors ?
This specific event isn’t mine but we have talked about a open public event. If that happens I will defiantly talk about it on the channel
Please do a video on the K5HLBs

I don't understand why people gotta steal NF 2PC K5HLBs in the first place. The horns themselves may be rare, but the parts to make one aren't.
@@TheRailfan360where do you get the parts to make a horn? Is it more cost-effective to build one? Interested in getting into this hobby 😎
