I’ve always thought the same thing! I’m also impressed that she manages to do all those things at such a young age. Definitely a great role model for young boys/girls.
Yas ! And you could also try the bare minerals method of buffing for a long time with a dense brush so it *melts* and gets kinda creamy! I’d love to see the comparison
I typically do my concealer first when using powder foundation just a tip from someone who has used and loved powder foundation for years. I'm so glad you tried this product as I haven't seen many of my faves review it yet and my skin tends to lean more dry
@@hannahrehm2614 I’ve used KVD Bare Minerals and the IT cosmetics powder foundation in the past. Bare minerals makes my skin look the best imo it’s just taking the time to build it up with the loose pigment takes a little longer.
@@hannahrehm2614 aw you are most welcome! And no I haven’t tried the cover fx but that one has been recommended to me many times by the employees at Sephora I’ve just never picked it up. Idk what it is but cover fx is just one of those that I’ve never gravitated towards
Same with me Skye! I tried a few liquid foundations in 2020 and they just don’t work for me! When Makeup Forever velvet matte powder foundation came out I immediately purchased it and it’s my HOLY GRAIL foundation! I have 3 different shades. I did purchase the new Fenty powder foundation it’s out for delivery and I can’t to see how it looks.
I never in my life thought I would say this... but I might want to try out powder foundation now???? I only ever really use concealer here and there but during the pandemic I need something long lasting LIKE THAT FOUNDATION.
I vaguely remember using Bare Minerals 20 yrs ago or so. I’m 51 and have used Jane Iredale’s powder foundation for about the last 6yrs. Haven’t found anything better for a natural look but good coverage. I keep playing with liquids and creams, high end to low, and honestly nothing compares.
I have combination skin and I've been testing this foundation for the last couple days. I have always been intimidated by liquid foundations but this has made my routine easier. I've found that moisturizing well, and using a setting mist, has helped a lot. Throughout the day my natural oils on my skin helped the foundation settle nicely. I do have some dryness accentuated on some areas but never in a way that feels overwhelming. I always add concealer and cream products before applying this foundation and it looks very natural and pretty!
I have combination skin and I’ve tried this and LOVE it! I’ve been trying to find a foundation that looks more natural/not cakey but also provides coverage. I love the way this wears throughout the day and it has very minimal transfer! Moisturizer before is a must, and I conceal a bit first, but other than that, it’s so easy. I’m obsessed!
My skin is dry/dehydrated and I just can’t wear powder with small exceptions. But one of my ride or die is the MUFE velvet skin- no transfer, super natural look, loooovely coverage.
I would rec trying with a brush. I swear by powder foundation with a large medium to very dense brush (depending on coverage i want) and it looks better than any other foundation all day long. I have VERY dry skin.
I remember Mariah Leonard's video experimenting with full powder base with her dry skin and how good it actually looked and it changed my mind on powders on dry skin.
I wore this powder foundation today and LOVE IT!!! I used a brush to apply because I don't like medium-full coverage. Personally, I prefer powder foundation over liquid so this was a fantastic experience. A+++ for me!!!
The cover girl clean powder foundation is beautiful on the skin. The one that comes in the pink packaging. I have normal to dry skin and I love it. Doesn’t feel heavy at all. You should give it a try!!
I’ve been testing this foundation for the last few days - I’m going to try with a sponge since it worked so well for you! I haven’t had much luck with brushes. If you want to try out another powder foundation that I have found works *amazing* for dry skin, try the PUR 4in1 mineral powder. I’ve loved that one for years even on dry skin and the shade range is 26 shades I believe!
I've been using the bare mineral original loose foundation for most of my makeup wearing life, I've only dabbled in liquid foundation over he past 4 years. I feel like it's time to accept that I'm a powder makeup loving biatch and go back to basics with my bare minerals. I have oily combo skin but with dehydrated dry patches in areas, but if I take the time to gently buff my powder foundation it is just perfection. Edit- the secret to powder foundation is to buff buff buff with the kabuki brush that's not too dense and with a little give. Watch shelbey wilson's powder foundation application video!
I discovered powder foundation about 3 months ago (bare minerals) and was also blown away as a dry skin gal. The complete opposite of what you'd expect! I swear my skin has broken out less too.
I’ve been waiting for you to review this! I’m a powder foundation girl! All my favorite beauty influencers say the same thing it get better and better as the day goes by! I think it’s gorgeous on you! I know it’s only January 5th 2021 BUT I’m ready for Momma Trudi to come back to your channel ☺️❤️
I don't have a suggestion for another powder foundation, but I do have tow suggestions for those who want to look into it: 1) Tarte makes a short, fat, dense little brush for their powder foundation that is a must have. It works w every powder foundation I've used it with, and it also works as a blending brush for those who like a good face brushing after they put on any foundation, powder, and bronzer. 2) A "base layer" of moisturizer cut with CT HFF will really help with *both* damp and dry application of a powder foundation.
Jamie, as someone with super dry, textured skin, I've found that powder products under a mask are the way to go! I set my foundation with the CT Airbrush powder, and i use her setting spray that I feel combines the best of Mac Fix+ and UD All Nighter. It's SO good. And those Patrick Ta blushes layer beautifully on top of powder too, if you just use a sponge with the cream side!!
I really enjoyed your channel these past few years! Love your mom! She is no BS straight and to the point. Tell her we’d love to see her do her own channel for older maturing skin. I think she’d do a great job! This foundation test was very informative and I’m going to give it a try. I’ll use your affiliate link if there is one. Love ya! 🥰🥰
I love powder foundations! In my opinion they feel more lightweight than liquid foundations or BB creams. My favorite is the Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation (talc-free too!). I apply concealer first and then use a big fluffy kabuki brush to apply foundation. My favorite blushes are the Honest cream blushes, they apply beautifully over the foundation!! I have normalish skin for reference.
I use the makeup forever one as my every day makeup and I have dry skin. I love it! I use a hydrating primer or put on my moisturizer right before. Then I always put on my concealer beforehand. I also use MAC fix+ and it’s perfect for this powder foundation. I’m excited to try the Fenty one next!
I got SO excited when I saw this video pop up! I am a fairly new subscriber, but this has very quickly become one of my favorite RUclips channels!!! Also I recumbent trying the Lancôme Dual Finish. You can use it dry, or with a damp beauty blender and it looks just like liquid foundation!
I'm excited to try this (it's in the mail right now!). I love powder foundations because I have that problem of liquid foundations NOT sticking to my nose - never have that issue with powder ones. My faves are the Make Up For Ever Velvet Matte Skin, the Loreal True Match Mineral Foundation and the Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder Foundation.
I have really dry skin but I love powder foundation! The fenty is my new favorite but I also like MUFE, shiseido synchro and the koh gen doh. I feel like they are just so light! Plus it’s very humid where I live and I like a matte finish. Just make sure to do good skin prep.
The finished product looks amazing from this side of the lens! 🤓 I used to love the Bare Minerals powder foundation and currently really love the Makeup Forever one but also love them when my skin is behaving.
I have very oily skin and I find that powder foundations (ex. MAC studio fix and MUFE matte velvet, I haven’t tried Fenty) usually turn quite creamy and make my skin pretty oily, more so than a lot of liquid foundations! I would use a medium dense brush to buff in and still set a powder foundation with a translucent powder for my skin. Shelbey Wilson here on RUclips who has a similar makeup style to your and has dry skin loves powder foundations!
I'm not a big foundation wearer, but I much prefer the look of powder foundation over liquid, which I can always SEE on my skin. Also, powder tends to look better over time, unlike most liquid foundations. I find it moves less and looks well even if it rubbs off a little. Try applying with a kabuki brush!
Glad to see this on your skin, bc we have very similar skin types/concerns. An I tend to love what you do as well! I’m not a powder foundation kinda girl, but I used to be. In middle school , and high school all I wore was covergirls compact foundation. An I love fenty so I’m excited to see your thoughts!
I’m an extra dry skin gal. But I’m also lazy... and prefer the ease of powders. The only that works for me is the It cosmetic Celebration foundation. I think I will try this one.
Well well well “How the turn tables” omg ily 10x more now 😂😂 your skin really does look better and better as the day goes by! I’m so interested to try this foundation 😍
I've been a powder foundation convert since last year, they're great for oily-combo skin! I actually love to use the beautyblender Pocket Puff to apply mine (and then buff with a large powder brush).
I really love the L'oreal true match powder foundation. Day to day I just use a concealer and then a light layer of this powder as my base and also use it to lightly powder under my eyes/make my blush and bronzer blend better back when I wore liquid foundation when I would go on nights out/dates RIP my social life. I just think it looks lovely on my skin, blurs pores slightly and then also adds just a little more coverage without making me look caked. But I do use a light layer and prep my skin with moisturiser. And then I always use a spray just to really remove any powdery look given and mesh everything together.
I always love my powder foundation more as my oils come through. I swear by the bareminerals original mineral foundation. Some do not like the spf in it but I don’t have an issue with that. I have dry and textured skin but it makes my skin look way less cakier than my liquid foundations! I use my concealer and liquid products before applying and let them dry down.
So I’ve started using Mac mineralized Skinfinish again as foundation. I have very normal skin. Normal as can be. I conceal my blemishes, apply w a flat sided beauty blender and use all nighter to set it down and it’s looks so glowy and natural! I love it!
So I have normal, dehydrated skin and have used powder foundations for a while. I only like light coverage foundations so these are perfect. That being said, the MUFE matte velvet skin, is amazing too. I always do concealer first then swipe the powder in areas without concealer and use a fluffy brush lightly over areas on my face that I put concealer, like nose and chin. Helps even out the texture
I've seen lots of people enjoy the jcat aquasurance powder foundation if you are looking to try more in this category. Would like to see how you like this with a kabuki brush too. Hope you had a happy holiday break, but glad to have you back 😁🥰
I wish this review was as up-close and hd as the previous video...that one really showed how things lay on the skin, what was accentuated and what wasn't.
I never used fenty beauty as their foundations don't seem to be good for dry skin, but I love the urban decay powder foundation and the all nighter setting powder. One of my friends loves Fenty so have been keen to try something
You are so cute. I loved watching you go on this roller coaster of emotions with a powder foundation. ☺️ I really appreciate your detailed observations as always. And I know that you see differently than we do on camera, but I have to say your skin looks flawless to me. Beautiful product. A little more than I usually spend on foundation but I might have to try it. Eventually. 🤎
Oily-skinned gal here. I’ve only ever used powder foundations. That said, I’ve learned to always put concealer on first before the foundation. Also, if I want to use a cream blush (like Nudestix), I put it on first and then use the foundation.
Big fan of powder foundations. I use them to set my nose as a glasses wearer and to spot conceal when i have breakouts. My favorites are the nyx hydratouch, and soft focus matte. And pur spf infused mineral powder foundation.
I think it looks fantastic on you, Jamie. For the dry skin people, use a good moisturizer and definitely a setting spray. I love the MUFE powder foundation. I have combo skin but way more dry with eczema in the cooler months, plus I'm a sweaty gal (different than oily).
Please give us an update in the future!? I’d love to see how you feel after playing around with it! How convenient to be able to touch up your nose in between masking. That’s the one area on me that gets the most worn off. I may have to try a powder foundation for touch ups... hadn’t even thought of that. Thanks💜
I have dry skin and I like this powder foundation. I also use this and then add the Fenty cream blush on top and have never had a problem. It actually works pretty well! Another powder foundation I like is the mac Waterweight Pressed powder. It gives light to medium coverage and it feels really nice on the skin.
I have dry skin and I prefer powder foundation in the heat of the summer. I sweat outside and other foundation doesn’t hold up like powder foundation. I wear Pur 4 in 1 mineral powder foundation. I prep my skin with a hydrating primer and a glowy setting spray. I apply my concealer underneath my foundation.
I pretty much only use powder foundation or a cushion. I like powder because the coverage feels more customizable to me. I use the It cosmetics celebration foundation with a brush and I have combo/normalish skin. I think the powder will look its driest when you first apply it. I like the way my skin looks at the end of the day with mine too
I have dry skin and my first foundations were powder 😂 not sure now why I did that, but I used Clinique and neutrogena powder foundations from like ages 14-22. There were good days and bad days. My nose was often peeling and getting the powder to sit well there was always a struggle. But when it worked, I loved the finish! And it definitely sinks in and looks nicer throughout the day! Thanks for this review Jamie 💖
I have drier skin and I like powder foundation as I hate liquid foundations as they always feel horrid and heavy on my skin. I have tried the original Bare Minerals one and the Laura Geller Baked and Brighten One and currently my favourite is the Too Faced Born this Way Powder foundation. I would love to try this Fenty one. I find that the sponge gives heavier coverage than using a brush and depending on the day I use one or the other and the comparison you gave between the Kabuki and powder brush is exactly right.
Me and my veeeery oily t-zone are very curious about this. 👀 Cool that you didn't hate the sponge as well! I usually hate tools that come with products, as they usually just end up as waste
We’ve been wearing a mask since February 2020 in where I live, and I have completely switched to powder foundation since! Jane Iredale pressed powder is my HG, am gonna try this out too!!!
I'm going to pick this one up. I actually feel like in a weird way powder is actually easier to throw on and I'm all about that easy life nowadays. I'm dry too so this convinced me!
MAKEUPFOREVER Matte Velvet Skin Powder Foundation is out of this world!!! This is coming from someone with an extremely scaly, dull, dry skin type. I use it with very moisturizing skin prep, a hydrating primer spray and then end it with the hydrating spray. Ends up looking like liquid foundation with less fuss!
Hi Jamie. Thanks for the video. I will probably get this powder foundation. I am in the late 40's with dry to combination skin type. I discovered the Smashbox halo Fresh setting and perfecting powder. I use it as a powder foundation and it give me a light to medium coverage flawless indetectible. I use it sometimes on top of a BB or CC cream if I feel I need more coverage. I like the mecanism of it so you can control the amount of powder you want. Happy new year from the north of Quebec!
My favorite powder foundation is the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation Concealer. I know, a really long name but that is how they named it on their website. My skin is dry in the colder days and more oily in the summer. The powder from Bourjoir I really don't like, it shows dry patches.
I use the Nude by Nature loose powder foundation with a fairly dense kabuki brush all the time. I find it much more forgiving than liquid foundations with dry patches and acne (retinol). It's $39.95 AUD (usually comparable to CAD) but they have 40% off sales on their website and in the pharmacy that stocks it. The nude by nature brushes are also lovely (especially on sale). I agree with the other comments, concealer underneath powder foundation!
I have oily skin but some dry spots because of the winter time, and as the day went on those dry spots weren't exsensuated anymore. I love how it wears, but I think they could've left the sponge thingy out and gave us more product IMO
I’ve BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE

Agreed! And it’s so easy to apply in the morning with a brush, I just swirl it on in 2 seconds and I know it’ll just get better throughout the day
after the foundation set into my skin throughout the day i was SHOOK. i've got oily/combo and dammmnnnn it was such a beautiful foundation.
Apply concealer under powder foundation. I’d love to see a comparison with Make Up Forever’s powder foundation, it’s my go-to foundation in the summer
Oh omg!! That makes more sense 😄😄😂🙌🏻

I love it!
This always happens to me with powder foundations, even if you are dry it starts to mix with our oils and what not. Settles down looks so much better
I watched your video, followed your advice and actually love this foundation. I am 66, with combination skin. Susan Taylor
Have you tried to welled skin food cream??
Okay, I just ordered this. Your skin looks SENSATIONAL!!😍
I find that when I have a foundation that looks dry it seems to look better with time as my natural oils come in!
Please give us an update in the future!? I’d love to see how you feel after playing around with it! How convenient to be able to touch up your nose in between masking. That’s the one area on me that gets the most worn off. I may have to try a powder foundation for touch ups... hadn’t even thought of that. Thanks💜
i will def be giving you guys an update!!
I love a pressed powder foundation in the summer. My all time ultimate fav is Jane Iredale but I'm definitely wanting to try this one from Fenty!
I also have normal to dry skin and I LOVE the Makeup Forever Mayte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation
I have dry skin and I like this powder foundation. I also use this and then add the Fenty cream blush on top and have never had a problem. It actually works pretty well!
Another powder foundation I like is the mac Waterweight Pressed powder. It gives light to medium coverage and it feels really nice on the skin.
ah awesome!!
Welcome back queeen ! We missed you
hiiiiiii
I would love to see this product applied with a brush!! I can’t wait to try it. Great review.❤️
I usually hate tools that come with products, as they usually just end up as waste
i was pretty meh about the sponge! it wasnt bad, but i think a brush would def be better to use!
Yay!! I have been waiting for this ❤️❤️
MAKEUPFOREVER Matte Velvet Skin Powder Foundation is out of this world!!!
I think the setting spray helped powder to melt into the skin. Your skin looked good even before makeup ☺️
My favorite powder foundation is the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation Concealer. I know, a really long name but that is how they named it on their website. My skin is dry in the colder days and more oily in the summer. The powder from Bourjoir I really don't like, it shows dry patches.
Hi Jamie I can not live without my Sensai total finish foundation. It is my go to everyday powder foundation!
This makes me want to try this powder foundation! That fact that it did NOT transfer to your mask is wild!
V WILD
Hi Jamie could you please try the new liquid foundation with the powder foundation as a setting powder?
I have oily skin but some dry spots because of the winter time, and as the day went on those dry spots weren't exsensuated anymore. I love how it wears, but I think they could've left the sponge thingy out and gave us more product IMO
