I remember watching natural hair care videos and they said grease is bad for the hair so I threw them out. Then I remember my childhood and my hair was never dry when my mom put it in my hair (and my hair was long). Everyone’s hair is different, but if you have 4c hair , grease is the way to go to seal up moisture.
@@MsJP if you want to seal moisture in the hair, I’d suggest spraying your hair with a moisturizer or water first and then greasing it to lock in the moisture. You may not need to grease it 3 times a day, but I know everyone’s hair is different so do what fits best with your hair.
I just used water, grease & a small amount of leave in to do a wash and go and I kid you not… my curls never popped and felt this moisturized. The natural hair community had us thinking we had to ditch it, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and I’m going back to my blue magic dammit!!
Yess I went back to grease about 2 or 3 years ago blue magic but the dark green kind. It helps my hair stay moisturized longer. I just got to get better at taking care of it. I've been at mid back length for a while now. My focus is on the front and edges had a bad sew in 😤
I'm loving these comments. I knew I wasn't crazy. I've been sliding back into just grease and simple "old school" products for the last few weeks. I kept thinking didn't these things always grow my hair when I was younger. Didn't the simple routine grow my hair, and from what my Mom told me, simple grease(sometimes even lard) grew her and her sisters' (and her brother's😁) hair long. The natural hair community got us all hyped and mixed up with all these extensive/elaborate hair care routines with a ridiculous number of products. Trying to convince us more is better, when we have often experienced, less is truly more.

I seriously stand by grease! I don't even use anything but grease on my hair, and it works like maaaagic! Makes the best twistouts, I don't see why I ever stopped using it. That's exactly why you don't follow trends...
I am so glad somebody finally said it. Growing up as a child and having an afro in the 70s and 90s, all natural, all I ever used was something called Bergamot (it was blue) sparingly, and I washed my hair every two weeks because you didnt want to dry out the natural oils. All this pre-poo, post-poo, three sets of guck people are doing to natural hair is quite unnecessary. Leave-ins are only needed for processed, relaxed hair.

I was diagnosed with ccc Alopecia, once I religiously started my routine by taking my iron and biotin. Washing my hair twice a week with zinc in the shampoo. Girl, I been trying to tell people, dollar tree is your friend. Or a low cost beauty supply store. All you need is grease or cheap oil to seal in the moisture of the conditioner. If you want more definition for a wash and go, find a cheap gel. I only use gel every now and then. If your hair is moisturized properly, you don’t even need a gel. I only spend 5 dollars a month on hair products. These natural hair RUclipsrs will have you spending 10s of hundred on products they don’t even use🙄

Never have used Blue Magic grease. I had always used Ultra Sheen, the blue one. They had a green one also for extra dry hair. I don't know if they sell this kind now though. I had also used Sulfur 8, and Glovers mane as a child and as an adult. Works very well.
Also, if your scarf keeps coming off look into Humble Glow! It’s a black woman owned business, her bonnets are AMAZING and huge, and it doesn’t come off my head, and comes with a built in edge laying scarf, essentially.
Istg! I grew my hair in one year with just blue magic grease and only washing my hair about twice in that year. It’s literally best to leave your hair be and keep your hands out of it lol. I love what I have grown❤️

The blue magic(blue) grease stopped the itching and dryness so I didn’t feel a need to put anything on it as far as moisture. It lasts a long time I swear lol. Too much moisture in my opinion seems to slow the growth down but not using much worked for me. A protective style is key if you’re trying to grow your hair. Put all the moisture u desire the first time then let it work. If you have done the big chop already go ahead and grease it down lol and leave it be. I promise In a years time your hair will be so thick and those curls will come thru !! I hope this helps . Less is best and leave it be .

I’m going to try this method. My hair has been so dry lately. Water either sits on top of the strands when using a spray bottle, or it dries really quickly after it’s been washed/saturated so I hope this helps keep my hair moisturized. 🤞🏾✨
Maybe you should try using heat when you put your water in and putting your hair products in straight away so water doesn't escape so quickly. Also maybe when putting water in, brushing it through your strands so it can really penetrate them :)

my grandma only ever used blue magic in my hair NOTHING else and would cornrow it and leave it in for 3 weeks at a time and my hair was so thick and long falling to my to my rib cage, the minute Im allowed to care for my own hair was duirng puberty and my hair changed in texture and curly a lot and I started trying to follow all the trendy new hair products, which kept my hair stagnant refused to grow, started using blue magic three days ago and im gonna stick to it
I think, because the natural hair community was dominated by those with a looser curl pattern for a while (3a-3c/maybe 4A) and grease isn’t as great for those curl types, (because it’s too heavy for them, as well as a lot of people seemed to be layering products incorrectly, which caused the grease to lock moisture out of DRY hair,) Grease has become this demonized product. But I’ve realized lately I need to ignore certain things that the “natural hair community” preaches. I’m going back to grease, my mom and dad knew what they were doing.
So basically, shampoo and conditioner, moisturizer and oils, every two weeks or less. And also staying healthy by eating the right foods, because your overall health plays a big part of the health of your hair too! 🫶🏾🙏🏽

I like to use a shampoo that has plenty of leather to give you a good slip especially a clarifying shampoo to make sure my hair is definitely clean on the inside and my scalp or sometimes I do a detoxing cleansing for my hair because just plain water is not going to get it

I like to use Mane and Tail Detangler. It also helps with knots in your hair.

Rice and clove is loaded with protein ...protein treatments is not to be used everyday on hair...so I spray clove at least twice a week

I love grease just hard to wash out but I use conditioner now to wash it out before I use sulfate shampoo and it works just fine.

Love head n shoulders. Either this 2n1 or the Royal oils omg and also that Carols Daughter goddess shampoo and honestly just using the leave in under blue magic is so good. The shampoo was so good by itself I went and got the goddess conditioner to complete the set😩

I like to use a shampoo that has plenty of leather to give you a good slip especially a clarifying shampoo to make sure my hair is definitely clean on the inside and my scalp or sometimes I do a detoxing cleansing for my hair because just plain water is not going to get it
