Politics is polarized everywhere, but nowhere do politicians sell their country for internal political advantage as Indians do! When it comes to international affairs, Indians need to set party affiliations and all differences aside, identify themselves as Indians first and last, and stand together.

    A good discussion.
    - Madam Bhasmati is off the mark, when she says Trudeau is partnering with Sikh secessionists in Canada. He may be part of the politics of votes. She was rightly corrected by Manish Tiwari.
    - Reliability of our intelligence agencies of doing a thing and not getting caught is under question.
    - Balakot was a reaction to the Pulwama attack. Doubts are at galore when details of this attack have not been brought to the public, this raised eyebrows not only nationally but also in international fora.
    - Probably domestic politics is playing heavily in the minds of both India and Canada.
    - Answers need to be given by the Modi government, he is responsible and accountable for the reputation of HM, which as it is tarnished from day one.

With due respect to the panelists, as a Canadian citizen staying in Canada since 2015, there was no Khalistan or Hindu Sikh divide. It's only after 2015 that Indian government policy to divide hindu and Sikh communities and move ahead with its hindu rashtrs agenda has brought back separatists elements to the fore. After all how can you talk about Hindu rashtra and not expect any retaliation in a country that has so many religions and faiths? And Mr. Tiwari forgets an MP with separatist ideology in parliament who was recently elected in Punjab and is still lodged in jail. Moreover the lady says she as a diplomat used all means to extract intelligence. Does she mean embassies where she served were involved in drive-by shootings and extortions on businesses to make them participants in clandestine ops? This is what has happened in Canada were Canadian diplomats have been involved in threatening local communities to spy on separatist elements and have been coerced to gather information in lieu of consular services such as issuing visas and OCI cards. Hindu and Sikh businesses were threatened to fall in line or face consequences and many have come forward and complained to Canadian intelligence. Diplomats have been caught with their pants down and now there is evidence, not intelligence, which will be produced in Canadian courts when more will come to light. But the current Indian regime is not one that believes in diplomacy and wants to shove things down other countries through all means that look where we have landed in. PM Trudeau only did what he did not for winning elections but to put this to a stop since there was no cooperation from India even after meeting multiple times.

When Mr Sibal said there were around 770,000 Sikhs in Canada , he might be referring to Sikh separatists. Otherwise the Sikh population in Canada, taking into account both citizens and non-citizens, is well over 2million by all measures. Now, that’s true that only Canadian citizens above the age of 19 years would vote that significantly reduce the Sikh vote to may be around 2%. Sikh voters could make some impact in provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Vancouver but that’s pretty much it.

There is no denying the fact that the course of our foreign diplomacy has taken an unsavoury and distasteful turn, of late. We have fallen headlong from the amazing altitude of global admiration and recognition of India as a moral leader . The sordid turn of events concerning Canada and India is bound to have an adverse impact in our relations with our neighbours as well as other countries. The US, is even.more predatory, in the India Canda, matter. As usual the US, preys on anyone by pushing them on the 'back foot' in order to negotiate better terms at the table.
With India the US has many sticking points.
    1) India's insistent demand for a place at the UN security council, rankles its hegemony.
    2) India not signing nuclear non proliferation treaties,
    3) A major grouse. India not buying enough of America weapons. The US defense manufacturers, are pushing for a 'hard line' against India, till it relents. The S300 anti missile deal with Russia hurt. They wanted to sell Thad. Ditto for the French Raphael fighter deal. The US hoped to sell second line American fighters, for profit.
    4) Advantagous trade tarrifs and free access to Indian markets.
    5) Indias oil purchases from Russia rankles, as also its continued defence collaboration with her.
    .
    6) and lastly our anti conversion laws, that prevent American evangalists and missionaries accessing our poor in India's hinterlands.
The Americans therefore jumped at the opportunity, and sided with Canada. Their own investigation of a similar nature is also a tool to turn the screws on India for all, or any of, the above reasons. They give a 'fig' for the person in question.
So, in all this charde, India should just keep its wits about it and ride out the storm, like it always has, wisely. Say little, while continuing to do what's advantageous for its people, and remain uncompromising on its enemies, both foreign and domestic. Best Wishes India 🇮🇳. ❤❤

as a side note, it must be said that India did not handle the alleged operations in US/ Canada properly ... one more reason not to have "know-it-all" IPS walas running/infesting the intelligence agencies (like most other agencies), instead of suitable/thorough professionals

The panel presented an interesting and balanced argument. I think the current situation in America with the indictments is closely linked to what happened with the killing of Mr Nijjar. This situation reminds me of the killing of Jamal Khahoggi by the Saudis. Though it was clear who carried out what could only be deemed as an extra judicial killing in a foreign country. However, in that case it was scrubbed under the rug due to the strong bilateral relationship between the Saudis and the Americans. That relationship is not built on love but on pure economic and strategic pillars. Does India have that sort of relationship with America? It is only America who can diffuse this situation by speaking with the Canadians. One can only assume they have chosen not to do this at the moment. This has dragged on due to in part I believe the Americans making it clear to the Indians that they do not like India to be pandering to Russia. I think it has many layers and will eventually sort itself out but India definitely needs to carry out any such covert operations with a lot more professionalism otherwise these are the consequences and fall out. Unfortunately many factors have conspired to create this situation.

US has got no right to talk about sovereignty. US itself has not respected territorial integrity of other nations. There are tons of examples. And you know what, you can actually check on Google that this Nikhil was arrested in Czech Republic in around Jan-March period, while US extradited him later after Trudeau made his infamous accusations. Why did the US wait so long , to extradite someone who is allegedly criminal for US, from a fellow democracy and a US ally ? And why did the matter kind of again boiled up after PM of India's visit to 2024 BRICKS summit in Russia was almost confirmed.
Rules of international sovereignty shouldn't apply to few nations.
There's an interesting article published in Financial Times that somewhat is titled like " India has joined exclusive club of Assassin States" .
Now who are the other Assassin States, apparently no matter how dangerous are Iran and North Korea, they don't have this kind of capacity.
The other Assassin States are, Russia, Israel, China, and the US itself.
These are tactics of governments. One way you can also read it as, if India's attendance at Russia summit was confirmed, Washington had prepared pressure from the other side.
And you need to defend your own country at some positions no matter what, US and Canada has got no right to divide India on the name of religion, no matter how dirty the politics is in India.
What if India starts giving refuge to people who are known threats to Canada and the US ?
And why is that, as China's rise and America's decline is almost written, the world is going to wars, be it Israel Gaza Lebanon, Russia Ukraine, possible Armenia Azerbaijan, and China Taiwan ?

To accept that USA is more powerful and therefore India should allow itself be bullied or toe the line of USA is not acceptable. That apart, USA does not accept or has failed in persuading India to not to have association with Russia, it is now trying to to twist or pressurise India to dissociate itself with Russia. USA is trying its best to have its influence over India and that should be acceptable to India, is the crux of this situation.

Its time to send some strong signals to US. May be the first step could be to pull back some of our staff stationed at Indian Missions in US and then ask US to trim some staff stationed at their missions in India.

The only other instance of great diplomatic upheaval between India and US in not too distant past was Devyani Khobragad.
This too will die down its natural death .
Sit back and relax. Let the media play it out and Indians enjoy the debates.

I thought Kapil Sibbal is wise person , He is comparing US action in Afghanistan , Pak and Iran, with India's botched up operation in USA and Canada with the help of low-level gangs. You cannot compare the two and How would you feel if USA starts doing operation against individuals in India
