Prof Upinder Singh, a Historian, moved to Ashoka University from Delhi University and never came to Nalanda! Therefore, Modi Govt has many parallels to the happenings of Sheikh Hasina Govt.
What is Amartya Sen's contribution to the Country I remember in one interview some 15 years back professing that we should export Iron ore to China as we do not have high grade coke . We should export Rice and cereal to China. He was pushing India into Agrian economy
@@shrikanthbhat2811 What are we discussing here? Sheikh Hasina targeted Mohammad Yunus and the Modi Govt hounded out Prof Amartya Sen. What Shaikh Hasina did to her own countrymen was nothing less than genocide! We genuinely want a progressive change now towards justice and prosperity for all the citizens of our country irrespective of social class or religion. Finally, I found some sensible speakers here. Appreciate the speaker panel here.
Shiv Shankar Menon Sir is phenomenal. He has excellent knowledge about Bangladesh. This is the only show i finds unbiased, on ground and realistic. Thanks from Dhaka.
Just remember current situation in Bangladesh is solely created by India. India wanted to see Bangladesh through her authoritarian eyes. India made partnership to one person while putting aside the interest of the entire 170 millions. This just demonstrates how bad and ignorant of Indian foreign policies are, if this does not teach us, slowly and surely India will find themselves as the sole hostile neighbor of the entire region. Don't make your neighbor your enemy's, there are still time to be sober!
The Awami League is a major party, the party of independence, and many people still support the Awami League. No matter what you say, if they want to return to Bangladesh's politics and elections, they must first return the 98 billion dollars that they have allegedly embezzled from Bangladesh over the past 16 years. Only then can they reenter politics. If this is not implemented, other political parties may also be emboldened to do the same in the future.
Correctionsl - Awami League WAS a major party - not anymore. Very small minority do support it like they support Jatiya Party pioneered by Ershad. After confessions came out of the torture chamber, aynaghar, even awami league supporters hate Hasina. There are brainwashed people out there though.
No one had any hands in this revolution. Indians need to come out of this idea. Anyone who has been in these protests, know, it was a revolution of the people.
The only Indian media discussion which could sum up the whole situation in Bangladesh accurately. Absolutely loved hearing all you say what needs to be said. Thank you
One thing this panel has missed out is the people-to-people relationship which are crucial to draw the bigger picture. As a Bangladeshi married to an Indian for over 30 years, I find it deeply unfair that neither I nor my son are eligible for OCI status simply because we are from Bangladesh. While citizens of almost all other nationalities are granted this privilege, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis are categorically excluded. I believe this policy violates my wife’s constitutional rights and is discriminatory, as it prevents her from extending a privilege to her husband and son that is readily available to others. This discrimination against Bangladeshis indicates that the Indian government still fails to separate Bangladesh from Pakistan. Such policies hinder the development of genuine people-to-people connections between our nations. It is disheartening to see that, while our dogs can be friends, genuine friendships and trust between people of our two countries are obstructed, even when family ties exist. I wonder this respected panel can understand why friendship across borders remains elusive when the Government of India fails to recognize the sanctity of marriage and the rights of women to ensure equal rights for all.
Can Bangladeshi "intelligensia" and what Bangladeshis consider to be "Indian" intelligensia provide an explanation as to why the Hindu population in your country has been declining?
I am impressed with quality of discussion in this show. Wire shows it is an channel worth watching. Very different from other channels who are harping on foreign hand in Bangladesh recent change. Further, they are over playing the treatment of minorities in Bangladesh after the monumental change in Bangladesh.
Mr.Siblal Sir,i am a follower of your not now since past when you talked about your country's issues inside the court room and outside.my deep gratitude to you that you always talk the right thing which is actual happened.thank you again that you pick the actual situation of Bangladesh.you know,in a Democratic society,it the people who decides how and who will rule country.nobody should dictate them.everyone should respect the desire of Bangladeshi people which is democracy.
The group dialog went extraordinary. The participants are very high standard and well qualified. Kapil sibel is the most honoured person who took the apt subject in time. In the end the young women journalist took the steering. Congrats all for the discussion without any leniency even so called national hegemony. There are so many hiccups in our foreign policy especially by the modi period.
Excellent discussion and the panel really understand Bangladesh. Specially Mr. RCA Raghavan so nicely articulated the difference between Bangladesh and Pakistan as a culture and country, was so on point. It’s great to see the counter of mainstream Indian media campaign against Bangladesh.
It is very important to remember that Hasina is not a refugee. She's a brutal dictator and ruthless killer on the run. If India wants to be a friend of Bangladeshi people, then it should hold hasina as a captive until she is brought to justice. Also, remember that she proclaimed herself as elected through rigged election. So india will be better off if india takes the side of the people of bangladesh. All in all, hasina is a fallen dictator. Strict with this narrative.
The most balanced and beautiful conversation i have heard from any indian media after the regime change. Thank you all. We Love indians as they are OUR brothers and sisters but we hate the Bjp policy/comment about Bangladesh. And the medias over there
One of the best panels for any discussion. One dilemma always stays with me about the region. We can't intrude into the neighbouring countries' internal affairs & challenges like income inequality, suppression of dissent, etc & the political results that they yield. But if these challenges are common across the subcontinent, isn't it possible for a country like India to lead by example. What kind of leadership role can we aspire to at UNSC or G-20, when we can't provide a sort of leadership in our own neighbourhood. However it's important to point out that we are not the only region with such asymmetrical geography facing challenges of coherence. The Americas are an example too.
The lady says," India is largest county and we have to be magnanimous ". In India, you have to do major psychological overhauling of your society which is plagued by Hindutva and RSS etc to achieve that goal.
Despite everything, India is the only country in the region where the minorities have increased, as a percentage of total population. Your own minority population has come down to half, percentage wise from what it was.
at 30.24 the lady spilled the truth, indian interest. As Hasina once said in her speech how much she gave to India that they will not forget and now the Indian govt repaying it. And yet they dare to term it as the replica of Maldives.
This is fascinating discussion. I hope politicians from all sides listen. Please invite guests from other side of the border so that we can hear their perspectives.
@@RitikaPriya-fz9dd If you want to show hate by asking questions, please don't ask, it will only increase the hate. If the question is polite, genuine, then you're welcome..
Mr. Menon is perhaps the most pragmatic and one can see that his vast experience is allowing him to see through the smokes and mirrors when it comes to India and its neighbourly relationships, and especially in reading what happened in Bangladesh. Amongst the Nepalese, for example, I felt that there was an angst towards India meddling into her affairs. Pakistan-India is case that needs no comment. Now Bangladesh. Basically India doesn’t have a cogent foreign policy when it comes to its neighbours. If it can’t rise above individuals and regimes (Rajapakse or Hasina) and create a people to people connect, it lands up being blindsided like it has been, not having been able to read the mood of the Bangladeshi people, having seen Bangladesh through Hasina’s lens. And now Hasina is now sort of ‘stranded’ in India, with India not knowing what to do about it. She being a ‘friend’ to India has been double-edged sword in Bangladesh; seen as someone who’s had made her country a client-state of India.
Indeed a commendable discourse . South Asian countries have to be inclusive in their approach for development and welfare of their ppl irrespective of religion or origin .👍👍👍
Gr8 discussion. Especially at 34:55. When the government feels that the Indian diaspora across the world can help in achieving certain foreign policy goals what about these communities on either side of almost all of our borders?
First time I have seen such a realistic, delicate and meaningful discussion. It's because of the honorable guests who care about India and building relations with neighbors as a friend and family. Not like the political leaders, specially by current Facist Government and their Hindu (I have doubt are they really Hindu or Gandu? As in Hinduism, their should not be any hatred, jealousy same as like other religion) leaders. Let's bring peace among this region, by going beyond sensitive deviding issues, which are been played by politician as Trump card.
What a remarkable perspective right at the outset of this discussion. You have accurately identified the core of the issue. While per capita GDP may appear satisfactory, it holds little relevance for the common people, particularly the youth, who comprise nearly 50% of the population aged 1-28/29 years. The situation worsens when a regime deliberately enacts divisive policies and places its loyalists in positions of power at the expense of the broader population. The revolution we witnessed is the culmination of accumulated grievances, widespread corruption, and the destruction of institutions, including the judiciary, as primary causes. When internal issues are present, external factors inevitably come into play, albeit later. Therefore, India's alignment with the sentiment of the Bangladeshi people would be the right stance in the end.
Brilliant discussion. The fact that India under Modi has isolated itself from the region is quite a set back. And trying to be more active on other international forums like BRICS, G-20 etc., I believe is too far fetched. Also, India becoming a poodle for America in trying to counter China world wide has done India no favor to it in South Asia. Lastly, Suhasini Haider made the most sense amongst all the participants. An extremely smart and educated woman.
Wow. Will you give her respect after what she has done to the country and its people? Oh, I am sorry, I forgot that she did more for India than what she did for Bangladesh.
What a wonderful way to describe the situation, the guest says they see chaos and take advantage of it either from outside or inside. Kapil stands as a paragon of the inside variety. I guess Kapil has so much struggle within himself when he has to say something critical about an islamic country, he always has to come back to India and its problems and equating the islamic state to India.
[ If you we view everything prosumer of the past or through chaina, pakistan presume we will not able to establish good base to what is going to happen in Bangladesh. ] I never saw or listen any Indian or Indian media to held and speck such a constructive discussion about Bangladesh and it's current situation like this before. Thank you so much for representing real fact.
When Indian couldn’t imagine or calculate such a revolutionary move coming it tells how poor the political relationship had been with Bangladesh! India Being Democratic, Pluralistic, Secularist it believed all the good things for India while treating for neighboring nations have been absolutely opposite, treated with all vague tools like conflicts like “Islamists” or “Minorities” etc. India needed to understand long ago that Bangladesh was friendly, secular, pluralistic and democracy-loving deprived of getting fairness in all institutions, India deprived from fair share of waters with LARGE trade deficits. India has been putting all their eggs on Hasina. Hasina dug her grave by destroying her future by leaving the country’s population behind handicapped, embraced the autocratic corruptions that killed the souls of PEOPLE over time. India lost all friends around its large land boundaries. Policy and politics must be learned and adjusted by the US-Canada and EU nations relationship. Neighborhood cannot be lost by wrongdoings.
Do you mean because he was of the view that India to press on in the Agrarian sector and also export Iron Ore, which many Govt in have done, it was right to hound him?
He is an academic and was in Nalanda in that capacity!
Very balanced discussion. As a Bangladeshi, i love the nuanced takes and seeing things beyond Indian lenses.
I am a Bangladeshi. I was really concerned to see how many Indian media outlets were far from the reality.
I was a supporter of Awame League at one point of my life. What Shaikh Hasina did to her own countrymen was nothing less than genocide!
We genuinely want a progressive change now towards justice and prosperity for all the citizens of our country irrespective of social class or religion. Finally, I found some sensible speakers here. Appreciate the speaker panel here.
Thanks a lot to all the honorable speakers. Finally i found to hear something positive and genuine about Bangladesh.
Shiv Shankar Menon Sir is phenomenal. He has excellent knowledge about Bangladesh. This is the only show i finds unbiased, on ground and realistic. Thanks from Dhaka.
At last, a sensible and accurate discussion on what went down in my country.
Perhaps the most balanced and neutral discussion in Indian media
Just remember current situation in Bangladesh is solely created by India. India wanted to see Bangladesh through her authoritarian eyes. India made partnership to one person while putting aside the interest of the entire 170 millions. This just demonstrates how bad and ignorant of Indian foreign policies are, if this does not teach us, slowly and surely India will find themselves as the sole hostile neighbor of the entire region. Don't make your neighbor your enemy's, there are still time to be sober!
Do you remember Hindu genocide in Kangladesh?
The Awami League is a major party, the party of independence, and many people still support the Awami League. No matter what you say, if they want to return to Bangladesh's politics and elections, they must first return the 98 billion dollars that they have allegedly embezzled from Bangladesh over the past 16 years. Only then can they reenter politics. If this is not implemented, other political parties may also be emboldened to do the same in the future.
At list 25 years this boat gone down 😂😂😂😂😂
new report says its over 150 billions usd source-daily star
Correctionsl - Awami League WAS a major party - not anymore.
Very small minority do support it like they support Jatiya Party pioneered by Ershad.
After confessions came out of the torture chamber, aynaghar, even awami league supporters hate Hasina.
There are brainwashed people out there though.
No one had any hands in this revolution. Indians need to come out of this idea. Anyone who has been in these protests, know, it was a revolution of the people.
I agree...Hindus were slaughtered by the general beliefs of Bangladeshi population, not any specific mal-intentioned subset
Finally, some sensible discussion! Thanks.
If India keeps Hasina then you can forget about a good relation with Bangladesh.
Educated and non biased discussion . Love from Bangladesh..
Watched half of it since I have some important tasks to take care of. These gentlemen are having a very nice and sensible talk. Thanks.
Really liked the conversations.U have actually spotted on the ground realities impartially. Best wishes from Bangladesh.
This is an impartial and unbiased discussion as much could be expected from Indian intelligentsia.
True.
Can Bangladeshi "intelligensia" and what Bangladeshis consider to be "Indian" intelligensia provide an explanation as to why the Hindu population in your country has been declining?
Would this group please give an explanation why Hindu Population has declined to 7 percent.
Excellent informed discussion by a learned panel. Should have more of these.
Brilliant discussion! Enjoyed.
I am impressed with quality of discussion in this show.
Wire shows it is an channel worth watching.
Very different from other channels who are harping on foreign hand in Bangladesh recent change. Further, they are over playing the treatment of minorities in Bangladesh after the monumental change in Bangladesh.
I am glad I found this discussion ❤ take love from Bangladesh
really appriciate the honest discussion.Really a fan from now
Great panel and Great discussion
It was an absolute revolution by the people of Bangladesh against oppression and dictatorship.
Amazing panel, would like to hear more from this panel on more such complex issues
This may have been the best analysis of the situation in Bangladesh.Thank you ❤
Mr.Siblal Sir,i am a follower of your not now since past when you talked about your country's issues inside the court room and outside.my deep gratitude to you that you always talk the right thing which is actual happened.thank you again that you pick the actual situation of Bangladesh.you know,in a Democratic society,it the people who decides how and who will rule country.nobody should dictate them.everyone should respect the desire of Bangladeshi people which is democracy.
Very nice discussion!! Thanks from Sylhet Bangladesh.
Indeed it was a fascinating discussion. Please continue this type of discussions in future.
Such a refreshing discussion; this is the most sensible panel I have come across in the last few days.
Kanglu spotted
Excellent analysis. Very impartial and scholars understood the ground situation accurately.
Excellent commentary depicting a better picture of the situation. Really enjoyed the conversation!
The lady with due respect, she has made a very valid point about the relationship between two countries
And the medias over there
Very informative and very nicely conducted hats off to Kapil Sibbal
Thank you sirs, my sincere thanks to all of you, you have correctly described the situation. I hope Indian government have the same view
The only person who really knows what he is talking about here is Mr. Menon, as a Bangladeshi I felt like he spoke my mind, thank you
One of the best panels for any discussion.
Really, excellent discussion. ❤ from Bangladesh
Hi, you guys are awesome! Refreshing change in tone from what I’ve been able to follow so far, in terms of media coverage on this change of regime.
Fascinating discussion
only highly educated people like u can put the Bangladesh issue in right perspective Thanks for enlightening us.
Thank you for showing the truth.
Outstanding debate with academicians and all learned dignitaries. Superb.
Great discussion, all are great intellectuals so happened meaningful discussion, really appreciable! Best wishes for all participants!
Kapiljis interview and videos are stand apart and great.
A unique and highly well regarded set of panelists 😊
Very balanced view. Very few Indians have criticised their own govt with regards to their faulty domestic and foreign policy
These panelists can't get over with the fact that Lutyen clout in Delhi has disappeared at the time of PM Modi
Most open minded discussion so far. Really interested

Hello Wire management...we appreciate your channel. Very good panel. I also like the interviews of Mr. Thapor.
Oh My God! You guys still alive!!! 😮
Love from Bangladesh ❤❤
Great discussion. The indian government should listen to them.
If it's a movement for real democracy, why do Hindus, Christians, and other minorities have to suffer at the hands of Muslims?
Very worthy discussion.
Kapil bhai’s shows are always excellent.
Indeed a commendable discourse . South Asian countries have to be inclusive in their approach for development and welfare of their ppl irrespective of religion or origin .👍👍👍
Beautiful discussion respect to all panelists especially for Kapil Saab 🙏
constructive and neutral discussion enjoyed on Bangladesh issue from otherside of the border
I feel this discussion is a healthy one.Govt. of India must take this line as far as Bangladesh is concerned.
Thanks for spending the true fact
Gr8 discussion. Especially at 34:55. When the government feels that the Indian diaspora across the world can help in achieving certain foreign policy goals what about these communities on either side of almost all of our borders?
Good discussion...
Insightful 👏
That's an honest discussion, thanks.
It's really 💯 % Right
Brilliant discussion.
It's a balanced discussion on Bangladesh,
Wow. Will you give her respect after what she has done to the country and its people? Oh, I am sorry, I forgot that she did more for India than what she did for Bangladesh.
Thanks sir, finally we appreciate your thoughts & idia. Only you are not propaganda. All you are educated people.
Take love from Bangladesh ❤
What a wonderful way to describe the situation, the guest says they see chaos and take advantage of it either from outside or inside. Kapil stands as a paragon of the inside variety.
I guess Kapil has so much struggle within himself when he has to say something critical about an islamic country, he always has to come back to India and its problems and equating the islamic state to India.
[ If you we view everything prosumer of the past or through chaina, pakistan presume we will not able to establish good base to what is going to happen in Bangladesh. ]
I never saw or listen any Indian or Indian media to held and speck such a constructive discussion about Bangladesh and it's current situation like this before. Thank you so much for representing real fact.
Thank you sir!
An honest discussion.
The most honest discussion I came across in any Indian media. Brilliant mind matters. From Bangladesh
Madame is so great , u raise very fundamental issues Bangladeshi Nation facing aggressively! Best wishes
Finally, a sensible discussion based on facts from India
It can be repaired by doing things right ! Thank you India
