We obviously had great thinkers and leaders but given the mammoth task of running a country as diverse and as populated even back then . running a newly formed nation like ours making it a successful nation today is thanks to them. Back then as a new nation with enormous challengers is successfully standing on the world stage today. We just shouldn't undermine the work they did for this nation . From the very beginning we were seen as a failed experiment . It is only because of the wisdom and farsightedness of our leaders from the past that we have space and position in the global stage that we enjoy today where India's foreign minister is taken seriously. We shouldn't undermine our past leaders for current ones or the other way around they have all played a part in the progress of this nation.

There is nothing special about him compared to previous foreign ministers. We've had better ones who had to deal with much harder situations than him. What he is good at is being a politician. When he is abroad he plays to a domestic audience which is odd. Shouldn't he be trying to appeal to the people of the country he visits?

Proud of India, Modi's leadership and Jaishankar as external minister. However on this this issue of him *speaking* on multi-polarity and multi-alignment, i believe he is making a mistake. Dont get me wrong - India should be multi-aligned to meet its own interests. India needs to do it but not talk about. Nehru (who I believe was a huge mistake for India) also had the right to be non-alighed to US or Russia and he spoke about it and poked his finger into US's eye. This forced US policies to be very anti-india. Nehru should have been quiet about it and simply explained it away as Jaishanker has done so well in the recent past hwen he talks about why India bought Russian oil.
US is scared of India as a raising power and does not want to repeat the mistake they made by supporting Chinese economy in the 80s and 90s. USA is scared of Bricks - it moves the trading currency away from US dollar and that threatens the US dominance. India needs to do what it does - multi-alignment and Bricks without poking its finger in US's eye. Just do it quietly and simply explain that India is doing things in its own interest.
This recent issue of India and Canada wrt to the Khalistani terrorists, USA has sided with Canada (as have the other 3 Eyes). Breaking Indian territory is beneficial to USA as India is a threat to USA's dominance. Again India should do what it needs in a quiet way and explain it away as carefully without taking about alignment. Once India gets as powerful as China and is able to produce some of its own arms like China, it can start to flex its muscles.
Sad part is that we Indians in USA will not support India like the Jews support Israel. Many indians in USA are coconuts - they want to fit in with the white folks without causing ripples. Also Indians in USA are first and foremost are concerned about their wallet - when push comes to shove very few support India; I have had this discussion with many Indians and they will give lip-service to India and Modi but are not willing to donate to gain political strength in USA politics; very few are willing to write letters to congress rep or to newpaper editor. For example wrt to the Khalistani arson on Hindu temples and monuments, there are very few letters to editors or letters to the local congress rep. At several local bay area temples there was talk to getting our voice heard about the Khalastani arson but in practice very little action.
I love Jaishanger and he is refreshing change - but wt to his recent "talks* on multi-aligned India runs into the same dangers as Nehru's (and i dislaike Nehru) Non-aligned. India should simple do what its need to do and dont talk to much about it.
