I’m Greek living in San Diego (USA) over 48 years when I visited my Hometown Patras at the periptero:
    "One Water, please!"
    "4,50 euros!"

I am a greek living in Greece, and while this seems outrageous (and indeed it is), it is normal in Greece. Let me explain. While in other european counties, mostly in western europe, sparkling water is popular or even the norm, in greece its not really popular. Usually if you want to drink water in cafes they bring you still water or tap water bottled by the cafe, and these have normal pricing if not no extra charge at all (of course the type of cafe plays a role, they more fancy ones may charge it). Sparkling water, just called soda in greece, is considered more like a fizzy drink, so its marked up in price like fizzy drinks. A 330 ml can of coke for example, while you'll find it in a periptero for 1-1.20 euro, if you buy it in a cafe it's going to be 3-4 euro. Same thing for sparkling water. Again, prices vary depending on the fanciness of the cafe.

What you didn't get from this clip is that customers like this video's host are actually pressing these idiots to lower the prices.
If everybody bothered to look at the receipt and make an issue out of errors and overpricing, involving such products, prices would eventually drop.
But Greeks are sheep for the slaughter (literally and metaphorically) and too lazy to do anything for the betterment of their own condition and, as an extension, society's at large.

I am Greek and fed up with all that sh***. As already said you don't have to be polite all the time.
But just to be fair on the other hand, when there is a price catalogue easily accesible like in this chain this is up to you.
Also on the equation that contributes to excessive or "excessive" prices in coffee shops here, is the local coffe cultrure. Many of us use coffe as an "excuse" to meet and socialize, so there are times that we might spent hours in a coffe shop just with one coffe and a bottle of water. So high prices are not just about the products you consume, but is a way of "renting" that space for quite a time.
Keep it up, and as i already said.....sometimes you don't have to be polite! :)

No dude. When you order that you have to pay that price. It is the same if you order Coca Cola. In super market it is 60 cents in Flocafe is 4 euros. Because you sit there, you listen to music and because they serve you. When you say sparkling water they understand something to drink and sit not just water for your thirst.
The people working there do not make more money if they charge you 3,7 euros for sparkling water.

That is right. EVERY cafe in Greece gives you complementary tap water for free which in places like Athens is absolutely fine to drink (and of excellent quality). If you are on an island that doesn't have good quality water from the mains, they bring you bottled water for a very minor charge (0.5 EUR). However, if you order sparkling mineral water, then this is like ordering some Perrier i.e. a premium product and it has a different price.

They weren't necessarily trying to overcharge you, that could have been an honest mistake. 3,70EUR is quite a lot but sparkling is always more expensive in Greece as we prefer still water and from what I saw it was in a glass bottle which brings the price up even more. You could get the same bottle for 80 cents at the supermarket. But remember that in restaurants and cafes everything is much more expensive.
