Yea he would’ve most likely died that podracer was way too powerful for him
And to cap it all off, he probably lost the bet because of the technicality that he never actually drove the pod. At least, that's what I would have done if I were whoever made that bet.

Quadineros was actually seen later on. He was last seen being promoted in a poster where he was racing against Sebulba.
Quadinero reminds me of the fat catapiller in the movie "a bugs life"

Me at the course "Vengeance" in star wars racer in the zero gravity chamber section.
Interestingly, Anakin's modifications to his engines also made them easy to stall when starting up, hence why he stalls at the beginning of the race.
And if his engines didn’t stall he would’ve been in 1st place a lot sooner.
This has a parallel with performance-tuned engines with lightened flywheels. Faster throttle response, but the crank-shaft loses momentum quickly.

It’s a neat idea that Sebulba’s Pod’s split X configuration foreshadows Anakin’s pursuit of Luke’s X wing in ANH.

I loved using Neva-Kee's absurd acceleration in Episode One Racer. Definitely my personal favorite. My little sister and I always cheered for Sebulba just because his face kinda resembled our dog's. It's too bad he had to be the antagonist and get destroyed by a little, annoying, human boy.

Keep in mind that the Radon-Ulzer engines were designed for use in starfighters, not pod-racers. Therefore, their power and acceleration was far superior to any purpose-built pod-racer engine.

Neva Kee was the best racer to use
Depended on the track. But primarily Mars guo was every I used. I remember doing lots of in game testing to find the pod with the fastest top speed and Mars guo had it. He was one of the few that would be able to get over 1000kph.
Kyle Ray - I preferred Neva Kee because of the exceptional control. Mars Guo might be better if you can handle him.
In any case, I'd play a remake of that game. With today's technology it could be really fun.

I always took Neva Kee and its FG 8T8 in the old star wars podracer game because I didn't like how the other pods were always swinging left and right on the slightest change of direction :P

Their engines weren’t technically in front of them. Also their pods go above the engines while their accelerating.

I'm surprised Anakin's podracer was that fast at all. But he did win the race because everyone crashed lol.

In that race, the only fatality was Ratts Tyrell.
@@irvinmorales1409 its a miracle only 1 casualty occurred especially with the amount of crashes and with the velocity the pods were racing at , you'd think that any crash had a 75%-90% fatality rate .

There was another racer who veered off course and was never heard from again. Make that two fatalities.

I never understood why humans aren't suited for podracing considering we see plenty of humans piloting starfighters that are far faster than any podracer
Yea I think it was just to make anakin seem special. But some aliens definitely had faster reflexes than humans
darman12able The key word is "starfighter". They're less likely to crash into rocks or other obstacles in space. 🙂
starfighters have inertial dampeners to counter G-forces. I doubt pod racers do.
Podracing is more challenging because of the many obstacles they can crash into and humans, unless they are force sensitive, can't maneuver through all of them safely.
And Anakin was ' years old he shouldn't have been able to race anyways

Podracing is one of the most awesome things from the prequels! Literaly my childhood, especially with that PC game :) (the PlayStation sequel to it was quite awesome too)

Interesting i find this now of all times. Good info, great speed comparison, excellent delivery. My favorites to use were anakin because you can understand him, bozzie baranta because of how hard it is to get him, ark 'bumpy' roose because bumpy and that awesome accelleration, and aldar beedo because he had the best paint scheme imo. Also those massive engines.

The Ord's shape was also my favorite. It's the one I could pick out among a crowd and green was my favorite color at the time.
I actually really enjoyed this video, and as an avgeek, I really enjoyed the comparisons between podracers and WWII planes/modern airliners.

Funny: One of the engines was named very close to the Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor used in 60's and 70's era cars. I know this because my brother is a genius with fixing them for people.

I always pick Bullseye Navior, PodRacer is insanely fast and the way it looks, always caught my eye.
Same. I always mained Mars Guo until I could unlock bullseye. Guos machine was so underrated too. It responded well to mods and hardly drifted at all in turns. But by the end of the game I needed bullseye to win.

How a REAL pod racer secuel could work:
1 many tracks
2 custom pod racers and machines
3 online lobby
4 create a track mode
They did. There was a sequel for consoles called "Racer Revenge", the Pod Race also made an appearance in Lego Star Wars Episode 1, there was also an Arcade version of Racer Episode 1 that featured better graphics but only 4 tracks and where you werent easily at the front all the time, AND there was also a Star Wars Racer mode in Kinect Star Wars with a number of different pods to play and tracks to race.
Still would be cool to get one with modern graphics and updated models.

It's been forever since I played the N64 game but I believe the pod I was best with was Bullseye Navoir.
I would love to buy two Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9 engines and... well... you know...
What prevents the cockpit of a podracer from lunging forward when braking? Since it's connected by a cable, it would have to have its own braking system or the slack in the cable would send it flying forward over the engines when braking. But I am not sure that is the case.

The pod race we saw in episode 1 is a major event in terms of Pod Racing, it's real world equivalents would be events like NASCAR's Daytona 500, IndyCar's Indianapolis 500, Formula One's Grand Prix of Monaco, Endurance Sports Car Racing's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the National Hot Rod Association's US Nationals and the Australian V8 Supercars Bathurst 1,000
Maybe for Tatooine, a lawless dust bowl in the Outer Rim but it’s real world equivalent would be more akin to an unsanctioned drag race in the desert that allows 9 year old kid slaves to race.
I know Lucas couldn’t have made the scene any longer than he did, but the fact that this race was literally only 3 laps is daft. All those thousands of people attending to see 3 laps

With all those insanely high speed crashes and low safety standards, it really is a miracle that there were only 1 or 2 fatalities during the Boonta Eve Classic. I mean Teemto really should have died after the Tuskens shot his pod.
Ratts Tyrell was gone. Maybe Mars Guo too, and Neva Kee never showed up again...
Mars Guo survived, but he was put out of action for quite a while. Ratts was the only confirmed fatality, but I am guessing they just never found Neva's crash or the Jawa's scrapped it first.
Cool. I never confirmed Guo's survival before.
It was that Nuknog, what was he called, and another one that collided but both survived and ended up in hospital.

What's with leaving out Neva Kee's name when talking about the FG 8T8? Every other pod racer mentioned here (minus all the others that weren't) had mentioned who piloted them.

Can you podrace with a T-16 Skyhopper or Airspeeder?
You wouldn't be able to because most to my knwoledge are not nearly as fast and seem to have only commuting purposes like regular cars.

I played the game and the Behemoth made up it's slow start speed with tremendous boost. Didn't turn well though.
I didn't know there were any connected pod racer designs.
Anakin won because he was a Jedi. Not because he was human.
He says he’s the only human who can pilot a podracer and Qui gon states he must have Jedi reflexes in order to be able to race pods.
Reflexes quick enough to deflect blaster shots with a lightsaber.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU ADDRESS ALL THIS TO LEGO SO THEY CAN START PRODUCING THEM.

Where did you do your research? Some of these backstorys seam a little made up (which is fun). But if you played the game you'd find a pretty different outcome to your list.
This also works as a lesson on obscure late world war 2 aircraft.

Man pod racing needs to be put more into Star Wars stories just as much as Lightsaber battles and spaceship battles. I know pod racing has nothing to do with wars even but still. I mean heck they could literally make a spin-off series about pod racing like speed racer. Or do a ford vs ferrari type story.
That's not a barrel role, what Anakin did was something called a Ailerion Role. Get yo facts straight.

There are lots of small engines around the equator, that are not detailed on the model. Small being a relative term - they are still similar in size to star destroyer engines. (see the cross-sections books)
I thought it used orbits to move when it was'nt in hyperspace.
