I lost my pit bull Diamond to cancer 5 months ago. Now my family is ready to get a pit bull pup to add to the family! I haven't had a puppy the youngest I was 10 months old. So I come to this to be prepared when I do get a pup.
My first week with my puppy was difficult. Cleaning up after accidental pee & trying to potty train. At the same time, I couldn’t sleep at night 😆 but as time goes by, they learn pretty fast! Keep in mind you will have accidents here & there, so keep an eye on your pup always! I wasn’t prepared but I somehow got thru it. It was worth it, because she’s amazing ♥️

Her name is Ida and she is a Red Standard Poodle. I got her from an in-home breeder so she had house manners when I got her and was already used to kids. They had also already started teaching her basic commands. I don’t regret buying her at all.
It was a massive fail for us as we picked up the puppy at about 6pm, by the time we got home it was bed time. Poor pup screamed all night. Thankfully it has been much better every night since (2 weeks) and he doesn't cry at all in the crate now.
I’m so happy I found you, I literally just adopted an 8 mo old shepherd/terrier mix today. She is doing great in her crate and got lots of exercise. She is in there now sleeping away zero crying. James Cousins should be 8-10 weeks. in some states it’s illegal to let puppies go before 8 weeks. they need to be with their mother and siblings for enough time.

And tried everything including presentations, contracts, presenting the idea of fostering, taken on extra chores, videos, built a schedule for exactly how a day would run, picked out the breed, found breeders, found out every single product we would need to buy, found a vet, everything. I want one so bad and they keep saying no because “they don’t want one” but i’ve tried everything I can think of

All that cuteness overload. Ha, experienced people really don't mind skipping the puppy phase. Just being honest. I mean, a nice adult dog adjusts so fast. A puppy has to learn everything. You have a critically important job here raising this puppy. This is when this little animal's brain is a super soaking sponge. It's a job on top of whatever else you're doing. That's for the first six months alone. You have vet appointments, training, socializing, housebreaking, crate training, and a lot of chewing (puppy teeth). See what I mean? I say do things right at this period of life. You're setting this dog up for the future right now.

Like can you give an idea of a schedule I got a toy poodle 8 weeks first night crying and very little sleep, so in the day he sleeps better no more than 3 hours twice and we put him in his crate around 11pm he woke up crying 2 hours later told my husband no to pick him up . Guess what he’s doing right now.. carrying him in his arms cause he’s just a baby and must feel lonely, but I told him he’s not helping with training... Help

Going through the first night horrors now. 8week old jack russell. My heart is breaking hearing her cry but I know if I go near her, it will make her worse. Poor wee thing has had such a long and possibly quite frightening day... Two car trips and a strange new home. I almost feel bad for causing her so much stress and fear but I know she is going to have an amazing life with me.

In your other videos you were saying that crate training is a gradual process where they might not be in the closed crate for a number of days/week- so where do they sleep before that?

For our border collie we get treatment from the vets, one for ticks and fleas, and another for worms. It's a prescribed medication and ours come in tablets that he'l happily take from our hands, you could mix it into their food if necessary.

Puppies can not make it through the night without having to go. 2 month old can hold 2 hours, 3 month 3 hours. Take them outside to relieve themselves several times per night. Yes, several times per night. Set them up for success. No punishment for accidents- that’s YOUR fault! If you catch them in the act a quick gentle “no” and redirect where and praise 🎉. My dog never had an accident because took her outside several times every night and praised her when going outside. She actually does her business in same spot 🎯 and I clean ASAP. Dogs like to be clean. We are everything to a dog…create a loving, supportive bond…best thing ever for both of you. No intimation, yelling, hitting needed! In fact dog are nonverbal so yeah, they learn hand commands. It’s really cool. They even can learn eye commands. They are so amazing.

Your gonna wanna socialize him with you, it strengthens the bond. The reason for this is, since there puppies there use to being with their siblings and they feel more safe and warm, im not the best at this stuff but hope this helped :)
I love your videos. I know this is an older video but I’m getting a new puppy and have some questions !! 1. If I don’t plan on always keeping my dog in a crate/sleeping in a crate forever. When is a good time to take the crate away? Or should I always leave a crate just bcus she likes it….I know it’s good for training but 2. When do you gradually stop taking the dog out every 2-4 hours ?
What I found to work really well is to sleep with a small blanket for a few nights then take or send that blanket to where the puppy is and have the blanket put in with them. The smell of their mom and siblings will be on the blanket. When the puppy gets home put the blanket into the crate. When puppy goes into the crate it smells it’s mom and siblings and they sleep all night. No crying.

From fostering the last 2 years i have learned that 1) i would adopt, there are plenty of great dogs available by the various rescue groups around and 2) i would not get a puppy, mainly for the reason explained regarding getting up every 4 hours. By the time they are 6 months old they can hold it in all night and you do not need to get up in the middle of the night (for most cases; obviously there are exceptions). For me, the ideal age to adopt is between 6months to 2 years old. At these ages, they still have their puppy qualities but don't have most of the puppy bad habits. Good luck to you all.

There are so many dogs out there needing a home and people choose to breed them I am getting a bread dog on Saturday only because we couldn’t find a rescue one as this specific breed a Springer Spaniel but we have got a rescue dog and she is my life she has saved me after a few losses I’ve been through

I’m getting a puppy today my uncles bringing it. I don’t want it to cry 😭😭 2 days later: it doesn’t cry at night which is cool but it’s so hard having the pup and all the responsibilities it comes with
All that cuteness overload. Ha, experienced people really don't mind skipping the puppy phase. Just being honest. I mean, a nice adult dog adjusts so fast. A puppy has to learn everything. You have a critically important job here raising this puppy. This is when this little animal's brain is a super soaking sponge. It's a job on top of whatever else you're doing. That's for the first six months alone. You have vet appointments, training, socializing, housebreaking, crate training, and a lot of chewing (puppy teeth). See what I mean? I say do things right at this period of life. You're setting this dog up for the future right now.

Alexis Marie hiii uh my puppy’s vet said that it is very bad to let your pet sleep on your bed or even get on it you can let your puppy on your bed after the 5th vaccination bring a good quality bed for your dog to feel comfortable 💕

Like can you give an idea of a schedule I got a toy poodle 8 weeks first night crying and very little sleep, so in the day he sleeps better no more than 3 hours twice and we put him in his crate around 11pm he woke up crying 2 hours later told my husband no to pick him up . Poor wee thing has had such a long and possibly quite frightening day... Two car trips and a strange new home. I almost feel bad for causing her so much stress and fear but I know she is going to have an amazing life with me.
When we take our puppy out to potty at night she cries when she goes right back in her crate. Should we just leave her be at let her cry it out? Sometimes it goes on for almost 30 minutes

In other countries the thing with the grate is not a thing at all. In Germany, for example, no grates are used at all.

In your other videos you were saying that crate training is a gradual process where they might not be in the closed crate for a number of days/week- so where do they sleep before that?

For our border collie we get treatment from the vets, one for ticks and fleas, and another for worms. It's a prescribed medication and ours come in tablets that he'l happily take from our hands, you could mix it into their food if necessary.

I got my puppy on Sunday I love him his name is coco and he did great at night he only cried for like 5 minutes the first night and after The first night he sleeps all night and takes naps during the day
Puppies can not make it through the night without having to go. 2 month old can hold 2 hours, 3 month 3 hours. Take them outside to relieve themselves several times per night. Yes, several times per night. Set them up for success. No punishment for accidents- that’s YOUR fault! If you catch them in the act a quick gentle “no” and redirect where and praise 🎉. My dog never had an accident because took her outside several times every night and praised her when going outside. She actually does her business in same spot 🎯 and I clean ASAP. Dogs like to be clean. We are everything to a dog…create a loving, supportive bond…best thing ever for both of you. No intimation, yelling, hitting needed! In fact dog are nonverbal so yeah, they learn hand commands. It’s really cool. They even can learn eye commands. They are so amazing.
So glad I did all this before I watched it. I came to see if I was doing it right... I learned extra tips but my instincts were all natural I did all this without instructions still these videos are very entertaining she is very easy to understand

I got my new puppy today and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. He cries everytime I leave him (even if I'm in sight) and when I put him in his crate he cries even harder and it makes me anxious because we live in a condo and I'm afraid the neighbors are gonna call for a noise complaint
Your gonna wanna socialize him with you, it strengthens the bond. The reason for this is, since there puppies there use to being with their siblings and they feel more safe and warm, im not the best at this stuff but hope this helped :)

What I found to work really well is to sleep with a small blanket for a few nights then take or send that blanket to where the puppy is and have the blanket put in with them. The smell of their mom and siblings will be on the blanket. When the puppy gets home put the blanket into the crate. When puppy goes into the crate it smells it’s mom and siblings and they sleep all night. No crying.

From fostering the last 2 years i have learned that 1) i would adopt, there are plenty of great dogs available by the various rescue groups around and 2) i would not get a puppy, mainly for the reason explained regarding getting up every 4 hours. By the time they are 6 months old they can hold it in all night and you do not need to get up in the middle of the night (for most cases; obviously there are exceptions). For me, the ideal age to adopt is between 6months to 2 years old. At these ages, they still have their puppy qualities but don't have most of the puppy bad habits. Good luck to you all.

I just got a puppy today and she was crying so i got her out her crate and let her fall asleep on me wrapped in one of my old t-shirts and when she was asleep i put her in her crate and it actually worked👍
