Yup. I slept on the floor next to the crate and had to let her just stay in a play area. But night two was exponentially better, and it helped me focus on what I was going to start training right away!
I'm on night #1 with an 8 week old English Golden. We got a late start today on crate training. Zeke's Snuggle Puppy is in the crate where he left him after a one sided fight. Zeke is now sleeping at my feet. It's going to be a long night. We'll get an early start tomorrow.
Yeah I’m tired of waking up at 6am because he decided to throw a concert. We left him for seemingly forever, waiting for him to get tired of whining so we can go feed him and not reinforce the behavior. No, puppy had food, and just wanted to prevent good sleep. The 5th time this week. I. Need. Sleep.
Day 3 with my new husky puppy (oh boy) but I was warned that the Worst part about crate training is having to hear your puppy crying, and it's not mentioned enough, they're still babies and will always cry and make a show, specially if your puppy isn't even close to his first 3 months. Patience is key and remember it will all be worth it when they grow up!
We're wishing you lots of luck with your puppy, Sharpy! Make sure you check out the free digital New Puppy Starter Kit for even more help with your puppy at this time. Here's the link: howtotrainadreamdog.com
Huskies are den dogs and tend to adhere to the crate as a safe and relaxing place. Our Siberian, Koda, naturally took to his crate without a whimper. Hopefully, your husky pup will do the same…Good Luck and congrats!!! Huskies are awesome dogs and love to interact, talk, and blow their coats, of course.
@@Proudpapa50 i have one too. Just got her a few days ago and i would also say she is getting used to her crate much easier than the pitbull. Hopefully she continues 😂.

Thank you for the Tips. I find out what I have missing. Bedtime schedule: 1. tired the puppy out, 2. potty 3. no stimulation, dark 4. if the puppy is crying, no rewarding, let her cry out. 5. put on music
Hmm so it's like the olden days with babies - you let them cry out... No way that's healthy. Simply have the puppy with you in bed or next to you and very slowly introduce the crate. 🐕🤗
I thought I was doing everything wrong by letting my pup just cry even after she’s exercised and relieved but this is good to know. I have noticed her crying time has decreased
4 month old puppy (new to us) wouldn’t stop whining (first time in crate). Did this and we’re IMMEDIATELY grateful! THANK YOU!!! Puppy calming sounds on YT, wide cardboard piece for crate top & old brown sheet. LIFE SAVER!

A puppy's cry can be annoying sometimes especially when they're inside the crate. So this video content just taught everyone how to solve the problem. :)
Yup. Really.. It's as if having a new-born.. Actually really now having thoughts to give him up.. As since the puppy is in our household, it had turned our family lifestyle upside down. 😢
Don't have a puppy unless you have the time and patience , it's just not fair on the dog , I've never used a cage, but I never had a problem. I knew what to expect ,hard work but worth very moment of it .
It's so reassuring seeing comments with everyone else experiencing the same thing. My girlfriend and I were at our wits end because we were worried that leaving our 3 month old border collie to cry it out would cause anxiety - but we've just watched this video and started his crate training in the early afternoon. Expecting a noisy night tonight but hopefully this pays off! (We're also going to buy some ear plugs, chocolates and write a note for our neighbours :p)
So glad this video was helpful! We would also recommend this new one that we just released on getting your puppy to love their crate: ruclips.net/video/tSntLZUxvdI/видео.html
Omg, you’re a lifesaver!!! Our 3 month old puppy always whines and barks so INCREDIBLY loud when we’re not around!! And instead of giving her time alone we always gave her treats and stuff.. now that I’ve watched your video her barking stopped for a few minutes but now she just started again as I’m writing this. I’ll make sure to follow your guide, tysm! This helped me out a lot, it really did.

@@HowToTrainADreamDog when I placed a sheet over the crate my 8 week puppy kept screaming and crying like crazy, and he’s biting so much. I just watched the video for the biting :) but please give me more advice for crate training
the cover over the crate (in my home office) idea has been a big winner for my little black terror. puppy has even taken to the crate in my bedroom, so she now sleeps in there instead of on my bed (which wasn't yet an issue). pretty big thing for her to accept both crates, in general, but especially for when she is able to get up onto my bed on her own. can't have a curious puppy roaming free in my room while i'm passed out. there will come a day that i'll welcome this pup to sleep with me, but not until she's settled down. very glad that i found this vid!!
I bought a Shih Tzu puppy a few days ago and he cried alot a few nights. But now he is getting better and better, he only cries once or twice at night when he needs to go to pee. He is a wonderful pup If ur puppy cries at night, i hope it will get better!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This video saved us!!! We were so frustrated with our girl and her crate training. Your video was fantastic for showing what to do, and especially what NOT to do. Our family thanks you!!! 😊 Jimmy, Carmen and our Mollie girl. 🐶
Finally a video which recommends the tough love approach. My friends have all done this but everything I read is about bringing the crate to your bedroom. I've wasted over a week sleeping on the living room floor and waking up every hour for toilet breaks. No more!

@@HowToTrainADreamDog yeah just had a watch, thanks. I did sleep next to her for over a week and with everything else we've done, she does take all of her naps in the crate voluntarily now which is a great stride. She just got used to me letting her outside every single time she asked (from every half an hour to maybe 2 hours if I was lucky) which was playing havoc on my sleep and mental health in general.
Gonna give it a shot!! Wish me luck. EDIT: First full night of sleep in a week following these tips. It's the way we set up the crate as described in this video! Thank you. That said she woke up with the most puppy energy ever. Quite hard to manage her. 😕
You are a lifesaver. I haven't slept in 2 days after rescuing a street puppy. I had done everything except backing the crate to the wall and exercise before bed. Got her an actual puppy bed instead of a blanket and backed the crate to the wall and bam. 60 seconds of hard whining, 5 minutes of quiet crying and she was out. Thank you!
We have 2 month old adorable Siberian Husky who’s an absolute nightmare when is time for bed. This is day 3 and my husband and I have given in to the howling, crying, and whining when our pup was in his crate. We grew very frustrated. After watching this video we immediately got to work . It will still take some time for our pup to get use to the crate. He wasn’t happy but we put down some training pads, gave him his favorite chew toy, placed a sheet over the crate, and put on calming music. He squealed, cried and whined even louder but after a few minutes he grew quiet. We have a lot of work to do but so thankful for this video. We will keep watching your videos to learn more about how to properly train our puppy. This is a learning experience for us too.🐶❤️

Wow. Just covered my 9 week old spaniels crate and put the music channel on. He whined for about 10 mins then passed out. Snoring his wee head off now. THANK YOU! Only problem is the cats kept peeking round the cover to check on him 😂
Thank you for this video! I am glad people like you make these instructions clear for crate training. I've seen far too many dogs with terrible separation anxiety because they were always attached to the owner's hip at home and at night, and crate training is really just the best way to help them settle, gain independence and confidence, and provide them a safe place when they are unsure of something/someone new in the home. Your videos have helped me prepare for my dog to come home for the last few months :)
I tried all these methods but my dog absolutely loses their mind. They don't just cry and whine, they absolutely loses their mind and scream and bite the cage and throw their body against the wall.
@@truegrizzlesfan2292 she's a crate trained dog now lol. But we had a foldable pen for a few months attached to her crate so she could leave the crate and just be in the locked up pen area still. She stopped being so scared of the crate and started sleeping in it after we weren't forcing her into it. The pen attached to the front of the crate and the door "opened" into the pen if that makes sense. And she still had enough room in the pen to not feel like she was being locked up, and would walk into her crate to sleep. After a few months we removed the pen and it was just the crate and now she will go in it and just sleep and hangout or chew a toy until we come back home.
@@JF-ub5lq I have a screamer, too. It sounds like I'm skinning her alive. We did a crate reset--switched to a wire crate from a plastic one, placed it where she was naturally going to feel like she's in the center of things, and are just loading value with meals, snacks, and chew-able items. Sometimes she chills in the crate, sometimes in front of it. I haven't shut the door yet because I'm worried about undoing all this value-building. Putting the pen around the crate might be just the ticket. But, she also was screaming in the pen, so I'm nervous. I don't want to create separation anxiety!
Excellent. Puppy has been great in his crate at night. Terrible in the day (we're on day 5). I made sure all his needs were met, tried to ignore, he still scraped at door and barked, cried, on and on until I would cave in, wait for a pause and let him out into pen. Watched this vid today, covered his crate with a sheet and tucked him in crate. After 20 min of crying he is finally settling. I think the sheet did the trick, makes sense because we do the same for our babies and ourselves: dim the light. Terrific analogy to the crib BTW. You have a great channel, thanks!

Watching this on first night with puppy... Puppy is asleep in my arms on the couch. She wailed for 30 minutes in the crate. I cannot make this a habit but I cried I'm so happy to have her!
Just brought my pup home. She whined for a few minutes but eventually settled on her own. I have music playing on top of the crate, a snuggle puppy in the crate with her and a blanket with her mom's scent. She's quiet for now...I hope it continues work moving forward.
After four days of hell, no sleep for me and my kids. The puppy making so much noise and crying he wants me there with him all night. He is 8 weeks and so much trouble. I watched this video yesterday and my boys also going away on a school holiday in the afternoon, I thought this is perfect timing and I decided to let him cry out and sleep by himself in his room downstairs. I heard him screening and making so much more trouble for a couple of hours but finally, he gave up!! 😅🤣 When I woke up this morning at 6 o'clock he is still sleeping in his bed no drama. What a wonderful result. Thank you so much. Finally, I'm sleeping again. Btw his name is Bali. “Spoodle!
I found this video as my puppy was struggling and the whole house to try to crate train we went with an open playpen. But she peed on my daughters bed & cried all night. I am not exaggerating when I say, I watched this, I feed her, took her in the yard, had some toys in her space, her favorite blanket, and she cried and cried. I put the blanket OVER it, turned off the lights, walked away. She is finally sleeping and quiet! I sent this video to the whole house lol Thank you🙏🏽❤️😮💨
The towel over the crate is magical he stop crying hes young just got him today o lord he cries so bad when i put him in there put he's quiet now...Thank uuu
Meet all dog's needs prior to crating for the night (water, toileting etc), cover crate with blanket (allow for airflow, obviously) & place a Snuggle Pup toy with faux heartbeat activated (& heat pack if it's winter). Ignore cries/complaining at all costs, puppy will get the message before long.
I just started leaving my new puppy in his crate. Poor thing cries and cries. I feel so bad but I know it’s all apart of training. Thanks for the information.
First night puppy slept with me. I feel that’s okay to get her comfortable. Now second night in the crate. She was wailing for 30 minutes like she was attacked. Now she’s finally quieted down after using all these tips :)
I just got my pup today watched this after 30-45 minutes of the pup crying out all I did was step one cover the crate and she stopped thank you so much

After familiarizing our Belgian Malinois pup with his crate, he would yelp for between 7 and 30 minutes when put there for his bedtime at night. Now, we still woke up twice a night to take him outside to use the "bathroom". But, he still would yelp when put inside. We finally put the crate in my home office, which happens to be sound-proofed (makes it easier to hold Zoom meetings for work). After that, it was not a problem. He would yelp and we did not come over to "rescue" him. After a while, he got used to it and he no longer yelps when inside the crate. Of course, we make sure he is well fed, hydrated, and exercised by 7pm. After this, it is time for him to unwind and get ready for bed.
Rescued a Belgium Malanois recently and I've never had a pup cry for so long. I've always had a pittie home and this is my first "other breed" dog and boy does she cry.
Saaaaame. We took in a 6 month old bm and we're doing all these things. She wasn't crate trained. She will literally bark ALL night long. We are on our 3rd week. I don't know what to do. I feel so defeated
We just got a 10 week old boxer on NYE. Whew! The whining/crying in the crate at night has definitely been challenging🥺Some nights are good where she’ll sleep through the night, some days she won’t. Thankful for these videos because it’s been helpful. Patience is truly a virtue

Our other two dogs were easy to crate train, but my new puppy has been a challenge. From your video I've realized it's because I've been doing everything wrong this time. I've had my 8 week old puppy for a week and starting the first night I had it lie in the bed beside me just so I could get some rest. I've been getting more and more tired until I've felt like giving the puppy back to the breeder--something that is totally out of character for me. I hope he's crate trained soon so I can get some peace and rest. I've put the puppy in its crate in a different room and he's yapping a lot. I hope he settles down. (He just has as I'm writing this sentence!)

I just learned that my puppy should have a meal on occasion in his crate. He does very well sleeping in his crate all night with very little whining. I also learned from you to log potty times and take him out on a schedule. Thank you
i remember my very first dog (pit puppy). 8 weeks old, straight from the litter, into my home and crated the first night. she mildly whined once, then never again. that pup was an absolute joy... absolutely the best dog EVER. fast forward 19 years, and i have a 10 week old pit puppy that HATES her crate. we got through the first night with her in there, but her whining and crying got worse the 2nd and 3rd nights, and she slept in my bed. it was either that or get zero sleep, as she was relentless. tomorrow i am going to re-watch this and see if we can get that crate thing going...
@@bubblegreen8811 well, I have taken some tips from this vid and have started to slowly put pup in her crate during the day, for short periods, and the fuss has lessened to the point where I can see an eventual point where she will accept and hopefully embrace it. Hope things get better for you and your pup 👍
we started having "positive crate time" - like 20 minutes in their crate with a high reward toy/treat, and with us still in the room or at home, so they start to really like going in! Ours now just goes and sleeps in her crate on her own with the door wide open (she is 12 weeks now). We will see how this progresses as she gets older.
@@rebeccataylor1729 for as much of a breeze and a joy that my first pup was to raise, there were times that i had to outsmart her to gain an edge. endeavor to persevere is my motto, so... oh, and i think that you are very much on the right path with your puppy. can't see how it won't get easier and easier for you and yours...
@@rebeccataylor1729 as an update, i have found that my little monster (she is VERY SPIRITED!) is ok with going into one of her crates when i am in the room. so, currently, she is inside of it, while i am typing this in peace. she was just getting so wound up in my "home office", for whatever reason, that i had no choice but to try and find a solution. i did have to go ahead and remove a lot of barriers inside so i could get her to go in without forcing her inside and restraining her so i could close the door. this leaves a tiny little puppy inside of a crate big enough for a large dog, but... my next objective is to get her comfortable with the crate in my bedroom, as she has slept in my bed since her second night with me. so far she has been great, sleeping through the night and not soiling. my fear, though, is that once she can get off of the bed and back onto it on her own, it could spell trouble during the night. not to mention that i am not going to want to be fighting a puppy when i have special company in my room...
My puppy cried it out on her first night with us for about 15-20 minutes. Surprisingly, it didn't bother me when trying to sleep. She then was quiet till around 4am and cried for about 5-10 minutes. And then was quiet till around 6am. This is when I normally get up so I waited for stop cringe and I let her out and we went outside immediately. There have been a few accidents but I think she is getting it. That first morning out though...I had her outside for 30 minutes - why she didn't go is beyond me because within 2 minutes returning into the house, she went poo. Her second night in the crate was almost no crying at all. She slept through the night and I was beginning to think something was wrong - but she was fine. We just started putting her into the crate more often yesterday (her her 3rd day with us). We would put her into the crate after play and after bathroom breaks. We also only allow her to eat when we eat. I hope all this will bring an eventual resolution to potty training. For my previous German Shepherd, I don't remember much. When she was about 2.5 years old, both my husband and I had to go out of the country on separate deployments. I got back first and then my husband. I believe she developed separation anxiety because of this just looking at her face each time we would leave the house after that. Well, I tried crating her again when I got back and she managed to get out of 3 different crates. I didn't want her to hurt herself so the crate idea became history at that point. Good luck to all who are going through this with a beautiful new puppy.
My first puppy did just fine with the blanket over the cage but my new pup is a barker and won't stop even with the blanket and I don't know what to do.
I'm going to give this a try. My nerves are gone 😂 we almost took the puppy to the Pound this morning. My roommate is a truck driver, & I'm not in good health right now. But the puppy is my son's, & after watching this we've been doing EVERYTHING wrong 😅 He was taken to early from his momma 😥 , & they didn't want him, so my Son brought him home almost 2 weeks ago. We've been trying to house train him, he's doing good with # 2, but he pees A LOT! We have hardly had any sleep, you can't even take a nap during the day. It's been really tuff on us. But we love the little guy. So please pray this works 🤗

OMG, I'm glad I watched this video! I just got my puppy Friday and the first two nights, she would sleep, but wake up and then pee. I put her in the crate last night and besides needing to pee and poo, she slept for three hours. Which is good start for me. Tonight I'll definitely make sure she tires out and goes to the bathroom before she goes in the crate to sleep.
Great advice! Thank you for posting these guides. Totally changed the dynamics for our puppy. He now relaxes in his crate, and went from hourly crying to once last night for a poo and wee. Literally saved our sanity!!

Ashley - We’re the same - brands new puppy in a close quarters apartment. It’s a big apartment, so the sound echos, and at 3am I can’t really ignore a crying puppy to frustrate all our neighbours :(
Same here . It is annoying.hope he gets used to being on his own soon. Been on bed at night . Going to try crate in bedroom later, but I do not think it will stop him yapping.
Oh jeez...we put our new Golden puppy in the crate the first night. His crying broke me and my husband's hearts so I went and brought him into our bed...all better! Then, about two hours later, my son snuck into our room and stole him to take him to his bed. One spoiled dog from the very start. 😉

My grandma just sang to her guard dog when he was a puppy it was so cute to just watch because he would slowly start to close his eyes and snore and after about four minutes. one time he had hiccups and he was dreaming nothing cuter than a white ball of fluff with a mocha mask and black eye liner ( Great Pyrenees) on his back kicking the air with soft yips

I wish I had started watching these videos BEFORE bringing my pup home! I thought I knew about crate training, but not enough LOL. I have been rewarding bad behavior (putting treats in to calm him down) and also "visiting" to see why he is barking... Luckily it has only been 5 days since he has come home and I have time to retrain.
@Kristin C....before there are actually videos out there telling dog parents to put treats in there to entice them to go in...we have to decide which is the best advice and roll with it
@@AStar-696 I don’t think that is conflicting advice though. It is still helpful to use treats to train them on the command to go in the crate and to build on making it a positive space as this video says to do. The key is to avoid giving treats while they are exhibiting the bad behavior that you do not want to reinforce like whining and barking.
I ran to RUclips to find something to help with the crying and screaming. After 6 minutes of watching this video, putting a blanket over the crate and turning on calming music she finally stopped. 🙏🏽♥️I can’t thank you enough
I really needed sleep to stay safe at work. I slept on the floor near my puppy to keep her quiet. Every night I moved further away. In 2 weeks I was getting almost full nights sleep, only had to wake up to take her out to go potty.
Great video. One thing I can’t agree with more is that covering up the crate ACTUALLY works… this surprised me. I did it in a bind when I had to leave for a while and was surprised when I found that the puppy was calm for the entirety of the time (2hrs).
yes! That cover really cuts down on the stimuli and produces this nice spa-like environment that helps calm puppies. We are so glad he did well when you were gone!
I have an 8 week old mini goldendoodle pup that I got 2 days ago. Thankfully her breeder already had her and her siblings partially crate trained and on a schedule which has helped tremendously bringing her home. I cover her crate when I put her down for naps or for the night and have Alexa play ocean sounds for her and she does so well with no whining unless she needs to potty. I’m learning a lot with YT videos and her teaching me patience as well lol. I am definitely going to get a snuggle pup for her, I didn’t know those existed! She’s used to doubling up with a sibling at night, so that will be a huge comfort as opposed to her lamb chop stuffie
@@Summer-eu5fe yes, she’s a year and 1 month old now haha. she still whines on occasion, but that’s just her husky side coming in to play🤣… haven’t had to crate her in a while, so she just likes to sing

Thanks for your help!!! My dog is now in the crate in the room next to my room. We got him 3 weeks ago and on the first day he was barking sooo much but then ignored it and now I still ignore it and it has gotten better! He doesn’t bark that much anymore at night!!! He is getting used to the crate by himself because he needs to learn to be by himself. When he’s older he will be in my room with a dog bed.
We brought our new puppy home tonight!!! 😃😄 I have been watching several of your videos and they help tremendously!! Thank you so much for your tips and tricks and calming energy.
Thank you so much for the advice~ we became parents of a 7 month old puppy howler!, Lol! Thank you for your sweet teaching. While I do respond to a 2am whimpering for potty break....Straight back to the crate and then the following day removing water from reach a few hours before bedtime⏳🍹🥇🚽💤
@Umnumzaan They literally said they are removing water a few hours before bed time so they don't have to let the dog out to go to the bathroom. Signs of overhydration are: bloating, lethargy, vomitting, loss of coordination, restlessness, pale gums, drooling, dilated pupils and glazed eyes. Nothing about needing to use the bathroom once during the night!
watching this video after i walked over to the crate after feeling bad that my puppy was winning but now im 5 min into this video & he is sleep soundly now in the crate because i let him cry it out, this video was very helpful

We just got an 8 -week- old Labradoodle 3 days ago. He has been crying consistently every night. We don't give in to the crying because we fortunately have a large house and have put him the farthest from our bedroom. We haven't been able to get the dog to go into the crate and stay there during the day without crying until we just tried covering the crate with a sheet. I can't believe it is working. Thanks for the tip, I never would have thought of that on my own
Congrats on your new puppy! Here is our New Puppy Starter Kit to get you started off on the right paw! howtotrainadreamdog.com Don't forget, always leave the front and back of the crate uncovered for air flow and ventilation!
Just admit it your up at night because your pups crying so just like me you came to RUclips lol Update after a week. I have him in his kennel at night and cover his kennel up just enough so there’s still some fresh air ventilation inside. He’s 10 week old German Shepard. He has now used to his kernel and the whining and crying has stopped. !!
Great info! I will be letting puppy cry it out next time. Thanks for confirming I'm on the right track. I think dad's have more "immunity to puppy whimpering noises" Just like our two human children they know how to manipulate your feeling from an early age. The confidence and wisdom to know you've done the practical things and the puppy needs to learn how to behave is freeing. Thanks again 👍
I've had my puppy for almost 2 weeks now. This is the first night she's sleeping in her crate...and she finally stopped crying! When i first got her she cried SO MUCH in her crate so she's been sleeping with me, but tonight she slept right away!! All it took was putting two towels over her crate. I used the towels prior so I think my scent is making her feel comfortable and secure! They're now going to be used to cover her crate. I'm so relieved and proud of myself.
My 9 week old fur baby is too small to sleep in my bed, and always will be, so she sleeps in a nice, raised, plush kennel crate, right next to my bed. I raised babies so that skill transfered over to my fur baby. I'm surprised to learn that. She sleeps all night after only 10 days. No fussing. She gets her playtime, food, water, potty time, and loves before she goes in. In the day, I put her in for short periods of stay so I could do chores for a few minutes and return before she got upset, gradually I left her for longer periods. She has quickly learned that its a safe space and she won't be there forever.
I’m watching this at 3 something in the morning on day one of the puppy being with us 😭
😂😂😂
Yup. I slept on the floor next to the crate and had to let her just stay in a play area. But night two was exponentially better, and it helped me focus on what I was going to start training right away!

Day 6 for me. Puppy's still screaming!😭
I'm on night #1 with an 8 week old English Golden. We got a late start today on crate training. Zeke's Snuggle Puppy is in the crate where he left him after a one sided fight. Zeke is now sleeping at my feet. It's going to be a long night. We'll get an early start tomorrow.

I realized what I’ve been doing wrong and I’m excited to finally get my puppy to stop crying 😭

Thank you for the Tips. I find out what I have missing.
Bedtime schedule:
1. tired the puppy out,
2. potty
3. no stimulation, dark
4. if the puppy is crying, no rewarding, let her cry out.
5. put on music
U got it beautiful
Hmm so it's like the olden days with babies - you let them cry out... No way that's healthy.
Simply have the puppy with you in bed or next to you and very slowly introduce the crate. 🐕🤗

the cover over the crate (in my home office) idea has been a big winner for my little black terror. puppy has even taken to the crate in my bedroom, so she now sleeps in there instead of on my bed (which wasn't yet an issue).
pretty big thing for her to accept both crates, in general, but especially for when she is able to get up onto my bed on her own. can't have a curious puppy roaming free in my room while i'm passed out.
there will come a day that i'll welcome this pup to sleep with me, but not until she's settled down.

@@JF-ub5lq Any updates?
Yes. A free video at that! So wonderful.

I've always had a pittie home and this is my first "other breed" dog and boy does she cry.

we started having "positive crate time" - like 20 minutes in their crate with a high reward toy/treat, and with us still in the room or at home, so they start to really like going in!
I found that putting a blanket over the crate when its nightime works.
I call it "the magic blanket" 🙃
Yesss thats what I do & he knows its time to go to sleep
& we wont hear a sound from him!!
My first puppy did just fine with the blanket over the cage but my new pup is a barker and won't stop even with the blanket and I don't know what to do.
We did that for our GS puppy and 2+ months later, it still works.
@@shefkiabdu-rahmanbafti1331 Thats so great!!!@
I'm going to give this a try. My nerves are gone 😂 we almost took the puppy to the Pound this morning. My roommate is a truck driver, & I'm not in good health right now. But the puppy is my son's, & after watching this we've been doing EVERYTHING wrong 😅
He was taken to early from his momma 😥 , & they didn't want him, so my Son brought him home almost 2 weeks ago. We've been trying to house train him, he's doing good with # 2, but he pees A LOT!
We have hardly had any sleep, you can't even take a nap during the day. It's been really tuff on us.
But we love the little guy. So please pray this works 🤗

getting a third dog in 2 weeks and still learning. this will be our 4th Shih-Poo. We now will have 3 ShiPoos one, 4, one 2 and one 8 weeks. Always love watching these videos!
Noise cancelling headphones are awesome for this. Throw on some music or a podcast and fall asleep to that.
Great advice! Thank you for posting these guides. Totally changed the dynamics for our puppy. He now relaxes in his crate, and went from hourly crying to once last night for a poo and wee. Literally saved our sanity!!
Such a great video. This is my 6th puppy and the only one I am having problems crate training and I needed these great tips to remind me not to be rewarding what I don’t want.
We are happy it was helpful. We have updated our crate training advice based on continuing education about how dogs think and learn best. You can check out the revised version here: ruclips.net/video/s0r-E3R3XT4/видео.html
I'm so glad I pretty much already did all of these steps from day one. I don't know how I knew but subconsciously I knew this was the right thing to do and so far everything is going great
That's wonderful news! Great job! Our channel will be a great resource for you as you continue in your puppy parent journey.
Yesterday was the first day we got our puppy and no joke, she cried all night long😂 I slept intermediatley for a total of one hour
This is great information. Day 2 of puppy and a long night of crying in his crate. Very good tips here.
You got this!
It's so hard to resist the whining and crying of my puppy
It isn’t hard for me, but I can’t let her keep crying because of our neighbors in our apartment complex. I’m at a loss of what to do.
Me too
It's super easy if you're stone hearted person like me

Ashley - We’re the same - brands new puppy in a close quarters apartment. It’s a big apartment, so the sound echos, and at 3am I can’t really ignore a crying puppy to frustrate all our neighbours :(
This Video is so helpful. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching. We've recently updated it with an even better one. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/s0r-E3R3XT4/видео.html
I tired every thing and finally the blanket helped !!
Great, we are happy to hear that! Keep it up!

My only issue is the neighbors (I live in an apartment but not for long!) Stay strong, people! In the long run this is what’s best for EVERYONE!
Yea me too
It's hard to hear the crying, and we don't recommend the cry it out method. But if you're not there already, you're going to want the crate to get through some of the tough phases like teething or adolescence. We have a new video that can help you with some new crate training techniques to help your dog love it: ruclips.net/video/s0r-E3R3XT4/видео.html
THANKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YOU I GOT MY DOG LIKE 8 WEEKS AGO AND THIS HELPED ME SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BECAUSE SHE CRYS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH AND IT STOPED

I am watching this while my puppy is crying in his crate. I feel guilty not taking him out.
Me too! Oh my gosh he’s very loud too!
@@ddsmiles6382 He is doing better with the training, and he stops as lays down and goes to sleep, but this is the first time I ever used a crate with a dog and I feel guilty.
Me too
Very very same
You should. You are a nasty human being for putting your puppy in a cage
I’m getting a puppy next week! I have been watching all your videos this will be our second dog but this time it’s mine, ty for these videos they are saving my life 😂
how did it go?
mia messina it’s going good he was scared at first but now he’s very comfortable and playful
Thanks so much for this video, I am a first time owner to a 9 week old rottie and have been doing good on all these except the sleeping next to the crate… mine is a room away but in sight distance… this was so informative thanks again

I lay on a couch that he can’t see me on. I only do this because I have to wake up every 3 hours to let him out and it’s easier. He is 10 weeks old
This is super great advice people need to have before buying a puppy
I wish I had started watching these videos BEFORE bringing my pup home! I thought I knew about crate training, but not enough LOL. I have been rewarding bad behavior (putting treats in to calm him down) and also "visiting" to see why he is barking... Luckily it has only been 5 days since he has come home and I have time to retrain.
You still have time!
Great videos! Thank you!
Glad you like them! We have an updated version of this video which you can find here: ruclips.net/video/s0r-E3R3XT4/видео.html
Thanks! A big shout out from Kathmandu, Nepal🇳🇵
Thanks for watching!
second day with crate, dog is going ape shit
Please nooooooooooOooooooOoOoOooOoOOoOoOOoOoOoOooOoOoOoOoOoobad wordss
Nice choice 🤣 mine actually sounds like a little monkey 🐒
Same dawg
I ran to RUclips to find something to help with the crying and screaming. After 6 minutes of watching this video, putting a blanket over the crate and turning on calming music she finally stopped. 🙏🏽♥️I can’t thank you enough
I really needed sleep to stay safe at work. I slept on the floor near my puppy to keep her quiet. Every night I moved further away. In 2 weeks I was getting almost full nights sleep, only had to wake up to take her out to go potty.
That's awesome that you were able to see such great progress so soon!
@@HowToTrainADreamDog My puppy is extremely smart, and is eager to please, so I can't take all the credit.
It's great that your breeder started on that training. That makes it so much easier on the new puppy parent!
"the best thing to do, is to let them cry"
*my dog cries in a crate
*my sister let my dog out of the crate
my thoughts "you will regret this"
Everyone in my family does this, I showed them multiple videos/articles saying that its not good to reward bad behavior but they still do it.
Gonna be a challenge trying to get the hubby not to give in to our puppies cry lol
She cries all night every night
I start listening to them today and it works rn, but I hope my puppy don’t wake up in the middle of the night
Same here
my puppy is 3 months old, and currently... she’s whining like crazy. and she was just fine before... oh boi... i knew what i was getting into tho😭
Is she doing better?
@@Summer-eu5fe yes, she’s a year and 1 month old now haha. she still whines on occasion, but that’s just her husky side coming in to play🤣… haven’t had to crate her in a while, so she just likes to sing

My puppy was crying and barking in his crate a lot last night and all it took for him to stop was to put my freshly worn hoodie over his crate so he could sniff it. He stopped crying and barking within five minutes.
No crate just a pair of socks next to him and he’s quiet as the night itself
Omg thankyou my puppy 4months old is crying when i put her on her cage if she cry i will run and pick her up immediately, thankyou so much this is so Useful this is my first time havin a puppy and it's hard for me cuz i don't know anything about Dogs. Thankyou for the useful tips.
So glad this was helpful for you! Stay tuned!

How’s it going
Thank you so much for the advice~ we became parents of a 7 month old puppy howler!, Lol! Thank you for your sweet teaching. While I do respond to a 2am whimpering for potty break....Straight back to the crate and then the following day removing water from reach a few hours before bedtime⏳🍹🥇🚽💤
You are so welcome!
You're preventing your dog from hydrating because you don't want to get up in the middle of the night?? What the fuck is wrong with you
@Umnumzaan They literally said they are removing water a few hours before bed time so they don't have to let the dog out to go to the bathroom.

Here is our New Puppy Starter Kit to get you started off on the right paw! howtotrainadreamdog.com
Don't forget, always leave the front and back of the crate uncovered for air flow and ventilation!
Just admit it your up at night because your pups crying so just like me you came to RUclips lol
Update after a week. I have him in his kennel at night and cover his kennel up just enough so there’s still some fresh air ventilation inside. He’s 10 week old German Shepard. He has now used to his kernel and the whining and crying has stopped. !!
So good to hear this!
Thank you for the update! We are glad to hear that your pup has settled. Good job on covering the crate and leaving the ends open for ventilation.
Thank you for your feedback! Remember to positively reinforce the behavior you want to see more of! Stay tuned.
OMG I have been rewarding him accidentally for barking. Thank you for the tips I am definitely going to put them to use!!
Thanks for watching! We hope the information helps!
Good for you! Keep up the good work and stay tuned.
It's great that she loves her crate!
Sooo glad I found this on time. Very helpful thanks!!!
