Would you be able to do a video on preventing resource guarding in puppies. I am getting a German Shepherd puppy next year and we are planning on getting a male. After 2 years of researching, I have found that they can be a bit more protective than females. So I was hoping you could make a video on preventing it as your videos are a lot more organised and easy to understand than other videos I have found. Thank you.

Our puppy Maisy is a 9 week old black lab and we do follow a schedule. I feel like wake up time, potty breaks, short walks and eating are consistent. I think we need to be making sure that she is napping more during the day. Potty training is going well as long as we are consistent at taking her out and not letting her roam all over the house. Maisy still needs a few potty breaks during the night about every 3 hours right now.

I have 2...yes 2 black lab/great Pyrenees pups. 13 weeks old. A route is ESSENTIAL! Accidents do happen. I'm very tired but it will get easier as they get older. Oh and I live in the sticks so late night walks are not an option (kyotes and such) but they generally sleep through the night.
It took a little bit of time for us to find a schedule. We had to go on a 14 hour journey via car ride after we got her, but we stopped often on the journey and made sure she was as comfortable as we thought she could be during the car ride. I do love the advice for schedules, I guess I’m a stress monkey when it comes to worrying on wether shes going to develop separation anxiety, or how concrete a schedule I need to keep to make sure shes happy. The great thing is that she never barks at dogs, people, or most anything. Only when she’s separated from her humans does she start to vocalize her anxiety…
It would be great to start to build her confidence away from you. It's good to start that now, while her brain is so open to new things and building positive opinions. I think this video will help you: ruclips.net/video/2gSQe2hTrE4/видео.html

Would you recommend sleeping near the crate at the beginning? Wondering how I’m supposed to hear or see him stirring at night? Thank you for amazing video’s
yes i personally suggest that, as that is what a lot of my friends did when they first got their puppy and that is what im going to do. You only have to do it for a few weeks until your puppy gets used to the crate.
This can work but you have to very gradually move the puppy away from you over several nights. If you suddenly don't sleep by the puppy it can get separation anxiety.
Your puppy’s crate should be kept on the same floor as the door you go out to go potty. You should not be carrying them downstairs in the middle of the night for their middle-of-the-night potty trip. Typically we keep the crate in the kitchen or dining room if the space allows because this will usually be more centrally located in the home and usually doesn’t have carpet which makes accident clean up easier because of the hard surfaces (flooring).
It’s ok if your crate is near a room where there is activity. Your puppy doesn’t need to be in complete isolation. As a matter of fact they should learn to get used to hearing sounds but not reacting to them. This means you won’t pay any attention if your puppy is in their crate barking or crying while you are in the same room as them. Remember we don’t reinforce unwanted behavior. We don’t advise keeping the crate in the bedroom as puppy will likely wake up each time you stir or move and they may think it’s time to get up. We also want to help them work on being away from you and not get accustomed to being by you all the time. This style of training helps them handle your absence when you leave the home for work or errands.
We still follow all the same crate training protocol which includes covering the crate (front and sides), playing calming music, using DAP and the heart beat dog for really young puppies under 10 weeks. We use a baby monitor to keep track of the puppy when they are in another room. amzn.to/2VUW1cd If you’re looking to improve your puppy’s behavior make sure to watch the Better Puppy Behavior Workshop. howtotrainadreamdog.com/BPBWorkshop
Congrats on your new pup! We recommend starting with our Better Puppy Behavior Workshop to learn more about how your puppy’s brain works and how to adjust your training dial accordingly. howtotrainadreamdog.com/BPBWorkshop

Thank you for your videos, they are so helpful. I have a 7 week old blue nosed pit and I am trying to crate train, after making the mistake of giving him the run of the house, but I am now trying to correct this and your videos have been sooo helpful. Thanks again.
Hi Michelle, How do you integrate work, human exercise, cooking and other family duties into this schedule? The nap times are great for work time but need to also integrate other duties. What do you recommend? We are doing well with potty training but I’m finding hard to figure out how to integrate everything. Thank you!
This is a huge struggle for me, as well. Exercise is so crucial for physical AND mental health. But there’s no room for it - or other activities. I don’t know what to do. Our 8-sk old Vizsla pup does NOT accept pen or crate during the daytime. Only bright spot is he’s doing okay going to crate at night without screaming.
@@Trileeloo my GSP is like this. I have found a way to settle him in his crate tho but it takes me time. playtime must must must be physical play and mental play. He’s had 20 mins playing with my homemade snuffle box, and a cardboard box and went into his bed to sleep. I was stunned. I’ve done none of my yoga so I’m crying daily BUT it’s early days. I have the same struggle so let me know if you have any tips ❤️
Hi, you are so easy to listen to and your videos are really helping. I collected my new puppy last Friday, Leo is 9wks old, miniature Labradoodle but he is already 4.7kg.
Thank you for the detailed explanation on the puppy schedule. My puppy Chloe is 8 weeks old now. I've only had her for 1 week. I believe in having a consistent schedule (as I have raised 3 kids myself). Our day schedule is fairly good. It's the night schedule that's been difficult. Do I wake her up to go potty?
I’m getting a new puppy in 5 weeks, he will be a German shepherd. I have a Maltese x Shih Tzu who I never crate trained but I’ve introduced a crate to her and she loves it. Will 100% be following your training advice
Typically, I hold off on bedding until a dog is past the teething/chewing and potty training stages, otherwise, you'll be spending money on bedding that your dog will chew and destroy.
Finding it really hard to get any type of schedule going. Our golden retriever is 11 weeks old and we have had him for a week. He is not the least bit interested in his crate. He is up around 8 am and just sleeps whenever he gets tired. There is no going for walks or playtime, when he is done, he is done and naps around every 2-3 hours. He is out like a light around 7:30, but if we don't wake him, he'd be done for the night then awake at 4. We want him to sleep at night in my son's room, but he won't settle down unless he can sleep at his daytime spot by the door. Training videos make this all seem so simple, but reality is a completely different story. It is so frustrating.

Am get my puppies in two week but I got him a playpen and inside his playpen I got just a bed and a potty pad . What am trying to ask is if you think I need a crate ?
A puppy pen is an area to keep your puppy safe while they can play without giving them too much space in the home which can lead to accidents or chewing on things they shouldn’t. A puppy learning to potty train can stay in a smaller space or puppy pen so they don’t have accidents all over the home. We want to limit the space a puppy has until they are trustworthy and have learned to hold their bladder or have graduated out of the chewing or destructive phase. Using a puppy pen is a great way to help your puppy stay safe while you are busy with household chores and you can't keep your eyes on them 100% of the time. Puppies need to learn to start spending time away from you while keeping themselves busy (in a safe way). A puppy pen is not for sleeping and napping. We keep our puppies in a crate for all naps and at bedtime. The space is more cozy and this helps them sleep instead of stay in play mode. Think of a puppy pen like a pack n play for babies.
Our puppy will be eight weeks old when we pick him up next Saturday. Although I am not new to dogs, but it is always good to hear how other people train their dogs and what new stuff is out there. Our puppy is a border collie. So we are expecting to be quite busy. Thanks for the advice.
Sorry, I hope you're still here) How is your border collie now? Could you pls tell me about your daily routine and how much time you're spending together during the day? I read many articles about this breed needs but I stiil really want to find owners which combine bc & full-time schedule...

What kind of smart dog is this?
We will be picking up our puppy September 15th, tomorrow! She is 8 weeks old and is a Papillon.
aww I'm picking up my labradoodle which will be 8 weeks on oct 2
Nicole Gonzales how is she?
Nicole Gonzales so cute
GeorgeC Totonjie what is that?
This is so clear, concise and detailed! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
My puppy is 10 weeks. I have started a schedule but your information really explains it better . Thank you
I'm so glad! Schedules are so so important.
I've been there, done that with puppy raising. Just have to say this is a super useful learning tool. 👍
Thanks for watching!!
The Puppy Schedule and Crate Training have helped both me and the pup! Thank you so much.
My puppy is 4 weeks. I'm going to visit him next weekend and then taking him home in the beginning of august. This is my fist time as a puppy owner (have had adult dogs before) I'm trying to prepare myself as much as posible.. so thank for great tips.
Schedules are good. Our Corgi was trained very quickly on a schedule. We just bought a dachshund, so since it's been a while since we had a puppy, I am refreshing myself on some of the little details I may have forgotten in the last eight years.
I've been feeding my puppy in her crate for the last week since I got her. On day 5 of this, she will now run into her crate and wait for her food :) This really helped getting puppy used to her crate and that good things happen in there!
That is awesome! We love to hear pupdates like this!
Started watching you four weeks ago when we went to choose our pup from the litter. We're now picking her up tomorrow!! Our sweet border collie! Thanks for the vid
We are going to pick up our border collie this Saturday. Very excited over here. Hope you guys had a good start and are doing well. Have experience with other breeds, but this is the first border collie for us.
Nadja Kelly my lovely girlfriend and I are going to pick up our border collie Aussie mix this weekend. Hope all is well with both of your sweet pups!
Thank you for all the vids! Frantically watching all of them. Supposed to get our pup mid Feb, but got the go-signal for tomorrow 😂 I am soooo not prepared.
You'll be just fine! Just let us know if you have any questions!
we are picking both of our labradoodles up on friday and this is gonna be a struggle but fun at the same time
Woo-hoo! Good luck!!
@@Edendog it’s been hard already!!! but they are so loving. they just hate the crate and use the bathroom in the house that’s what we are trying to tackle!
My puppy is 9 weeks old. We're on day 4 and still trying to establish a schedule. I'm so glad I watched your video and learned that I don't have to wake her to go potty in the middle of the night. Now I can sleep a little better.
Good! I'm so glad you found this helpful.
I have a 15 week old puppy and I'm currently trying to establish a routine...this video was very helpful...
Thanks for watching, we are glad it was helpful.
We're going to see our 3 week old Havanese puppy litter for the first time this weekend & are so excited. Not sure about a boy or girl yet. We've had girls in the past, so maybe a boy this time. We are a very active retired couple and look forward to a well trained four legged little buddy going on adventures with us. Thank you for all your good advise on starting our pups life on the right paw!
Love Havanese. Did you go for a boy in the end? How is it going?
@@issy483 Yes we picked a boy. He's so precious! We will be bringing him home next week. It's nice that we live close to the breader & have been visiting him almost weekly. Fun to watch him grow!
I've watched about 15 of your videos before i subscribed. I have a 9 week old Brittany, brought him home 7 days ago and your videos along with zak georges are great. My puppy at just 9 weeks is already getting the hang of come, down (still working with it) and today he learned heel and I was so proud! He also doesn't whine as much in his crate and goes to the door when he needs to go. He's learning so fast!

Excellent videos- I totally like how you explain and your reasoning for the point being made. We are getting our Mini Bernedoodle thins weekend. Have been walking our neighbors lately. I've had and trained puppy/dog in the past using - "old school" methods. Thanks for sharing your ways... I'll most likely "push the button" for your course.
Thanks for watching, Matt! We would love to help you with your doodle!
You have helped me prepare for my new puppy so much! I want her transition here to be really smooth and your videos are so helpful, thank you so much!
I just got my puppy yesterday. He is 11 weeks old. Trying to figure out a schedule and get him potty trained ASAP! He whines when I put him in the playpen. He is ok with the crate. He is a mini Aussiedoodle so know already he will be smart and good at learning. I've just never had a brand new puppy as I normally rescue and they come trained already.
Here is our New Puppy Starter Kit! Inside you will find 10 pages of resources to help you with potty training:

7 weeks, 2 days home, yes working on schedule. His timings are shorter due to his tiny size as a toy poodle.
Donna, I'm bringing my puppy in couple of days and he'll be 7 weeks old. What your schedule looks like?
So like every hour? Or less?

My puppy is 8 months and I got her yesterday. I’m trying to create a good routine for her and keep her happy!
Wow my dog just turned 8 months on the 11th we got him when he was 5 weeks
My GSD pup Raven is 10 weeks and already potty trained, crate trained and doing tricks/good recall. Most important things are 1) Create an incredibly strong bond 2) STRUCTURE/routine. It’ll save ya sleep I swear🤘💖
I'm getting ready to adopt a puppy. I'm learning ahead and getting prepare for our new puppy. Good video 👍🏻
Your video is so helpful to me, we Just picked up our english bulldog Dolce she's 2 months old so this really helps me.Thank you
My puppy is ~4 weeks old. I'm getting him on the 9th of October, really excited!
美Sta I’m getting mine on the 10th! Good luck!!!
Should have mentioned she’s a Pyrenees, 3 months old. 😅
It would be great to start to build her confidence away from you. It's good to start that now, while her brain is so open to new things and building positive opinions. I think this video will help you: ruclips.net/video/2gSQe2hTrE4/видео.html

My Fox Red Labrador puppy is 2 weeks old! So excited to pick her up in 8 weeks :)
I have an 8 week old puppy and I'm definitely frustrated. Haven't had a dog in over 20 years and she spoiled me because I only had to show her things once and she got it. I got her about the same age as the puppy I have now. With my schedule and my wife's schedule it is very hard to create a routine. We're doing our best and hopefully things will work out.
Thanks for the advice!❤️😊
Im getting my puppy boxer Aug 18 at 8 weeks old. I can't wait to follow the steps and go on this journey to training him

My puppy is now 15 weeks old. He is a fast learner and very smart but has biting issues
U can give him the biting toys avbl for dogs, also.. in case he tries to bite u have to playfully make him understand that you are getting hurt and he will understand it or else when ever he tries to bite just hold his right leg with ur hands a bit dont be harsh just as a single that he dont have to do that
my puppy does the same! that mean’s your puppy is teething. this should last for 3-5 months
I'm getting my german shepherd puppy tomorrow and this help me a lot thank you!😊

We use a baby monitor to keep track of the puppy when they are in another room. amzn.to/2VUW1cd

And then you are gonna lose your job lmao

10 week old Pomsky. Thank you love your videos so helpful
Hi Michelle, How do you integrate work, human exercise, cooking and other family duties into this schedule? The nap times are great for work time but need to also integrate other duties. What do you recommend?
We are doing well with potty training but I’m finding hard to figure out how to integrate everything. Thank you!
So sorry we are just seeing this comment now. I apologize that we didn’t see it sooner. We hope all is well with you and your pup.
Enjoyable to listen to and easy comprehensive instructions.

We don't wake a sleeping puppy in most cases. We do use a baby monitor or puppy camera to hear if pup stirs or starts to wake, then we take pup out.
I’m getting a new puppy in 5 weeks, he will be a German shepherd. I have a Maltese x Shih Tzu who I never crate trained but I’ve introduced a crate to her and she loves it. Will 100% be following your training advice

9 week old dashaund and yes working on a schedule. Puppy was ween by the mother dog about three weeks early.
My puppy is 6 weeks just brought her home exactly a week ago and we’re working on a schedule
This is a great plan❤ and sooo much to remember 😂
Hi I am getting a crossbreed between a corgi and a Aussie, is there any dog beds you suggest
Typically, I hold off on bedding until a dog is past the teething/chewing and potty training stages, otherwise, you'll be spending money on bedding that your dog will chew and destroy.
How To Train A Dream Dog At what age should a puppy\ dog sleep with you on your bed?
Soggy Brownie ok thanks
Any good bed brand though?
Breanna Summer you could order from amazon or home goods. Maybe PetSmart .
My lil Lexy is 3 years 4 months old! her birthday is 1st of july! thank you so much as i learned how to take care of a dog!
My puppy is 12 weeks old, loves his crate, is almost fully potty trained, and doesn’t wake up during the night to go potty anymore. Is that normal ?
You are god :0
Mine won't even go inside her crate
Dang, what’s your secret?!😁
nikki nikki sameee😭 i’m so stressed outtt
Haley Walker idk 😂 ive just been watching a lot of training videos and my pup is a very fast learner as well
Finding it really hard to get any type of schedule going.
