Just added more to my “favorite pet products” list, & am updating it weekly: www.rachelfusaro.com/shop ALSO, you’re an awesome human. Never forget it 😘
Hello you are a very awesome human too! Where did you get your dogs from? I’m trying to rescue/adopt a mini golden doodle and it’s a bit of a challenge but if you know any places/companies can you tell me?
Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!
I dont know who this will help but something that really help me was when ur dog or puppy is going potty either #1 or #2 tell them, "go potty, go potty". I started to do that when he went to the bathroom and he started to understand exactly what I meant. And started to go on command!😊 I hope this helps someone.
I’m going to try this! I have a mini bernadoodle puppy and he’s 16 weeks. Potty training has been a struggle. But I have noticed he does really well with command training. So I will definitely try this.
1. Feed dogs at same times everyday to learn their natural schedule 2. Reward them as they are completing their business (not after they finish) Can keep treat jar by back door 3. Give them a few minutes to sniff around after they go potty. Puppy bladders take 6-9 months to fully develop. 4. Take them out every 45 min - 1 hour for young puppies and 1-3 hours four 14 weeks+ 5. Nighttime potty runs - no cuddles or talking, give “YES” command and put them back in crate. They probably will cry at first. 6. Make sure the crate is large enough for them to stand/turn around and small enough they won’t want to go to the bathroom in their crate 7. Never punish for going potty inside, if they do pick them up and bring them outside. Reward them for finishing their business outside. 8. Signals! Sniffing, going to the same spot they’ve had an accident at in the past, going in circles, change in behavior (butt scooch), after food and drink, after play, after naps
Thank you for breaking it down in an easy to read format, I felt she was distracted and talked a mile a minute and added so much information into one video vs multiple shorter videos
I am now 53 years old. When I was approximately 9/10 years old, I was in Girl Scouts. We were trying to earn a badge and someone came to speak to us about potty training puppies. They gave us a booklet about puppies and dogs. What the booklet suggested was, when the dog urinates, take a paper towel or towel, get up the urine, take the soiled towel to a spot, chosen by you and put it down. Put a rock or something on the towel so that it doesn't blow away. Everytime the pup goes out, take he/she to the same spot where the towel is, rain shine, sleet or snow. They can still smell their scent and tell the pup "potty." I would set my pup down on top of the towel to be sure they smelled the urine. If the pup walks away, it's okay, just don't let them go to far away from the towel. If they start to walk away. Pick them up, take back to the towel and say "potty" again. It will take a few times for the puppy to catch on but if you are consistent, you will see progress sooner rather than later. Be sure to observe the pup so that when they void, give plenty of praise. They may have a couple of accidents. If they do, do not scold x just say no, pick the pup up, take to spot and say "potty." The most important thing is to be consistent. If you are not, the training will not work and it is your fault, not the puppy's. I have used this method for every puppy/dog(if not potty trained) and this has always worked. No matter the method, if you are not consistent, it will not work. Pets only know what you teach them. I often get asked how does my dog know what to do and where to go when I say "(go potty)." This is after the training is complete, how my dog knows what to do and again I explain my method and stress the importance of consistency. I have never used any other method other than this. Thank you Girl Scouts and I earned my badge.
Same, all my pups were trained the same way, to transfer their toilet scent where you need them to pee, definitely fool proof and I don’t see a lot of trainers using this method for some reason and make it more complex than it should be.
I just cannot thank you enough for your puppy potty training help! My shih tzu was 9 weeks when we brought him home. I was warned that it would take 4 to 5 months by other puppy owners especially for tiny dogs. With your help, I saw success after 8 days and he was pretty much there. His progressive journey has been absolutely amazing! He is 15 weeks old but today is special because we took video of him after he signaled us by sitting at our back door! It wasn't his first time, but today we got a picture and video! I totally wish you could see it! Anyway! Thanks be to you doll! I am fit to be tied excited!
Last week, I started trying Rachel’s advice on how to convince your parents to get you a puppy and this week my parents are seriously starting to consider adopting a dog for me! Thanks so much Rachel!!!❤️🙏
Hi Ana! Yes I remember, I should thank you too! I’ve been trying to convince my parents for months and I’m finally getting somewhere! Once again thanks for the great advice Rachel, and thanks so much for sharing that video with me Ana! 🐶
I just adopted a wonderful 4 yo min pin rescue (who had been starved and abused). She has never had a #1 accident in the house, but always waits to do #2 when we get back in the house and I’m not watching. I am immediately going to start employing your tips . She is a very smart girl so I hope we will get over this hurdle quickly. Thanks so much!
I’m so happy to hear that you had the same issue with multiple potty breaks within minutes. I, too, thought something was wrong with my puppy. Happy to report that he’s sleeping about 7 hours through the night and he rings the bell to let us know he has to go. Inside accidents have decreased significantly. Thank you for your videos. They are very helpful!
@@ninivengl We trained him to actually ring a bell that we hung from the door we went out of to take him to the bathroom. He had to ring it with his paw before we would take him. Once he was fully trained he would ring the bell to let us know when he had to go. It’s great!
@ninivengl we hung what look like jingle bells by the door we took him out of to go. He would hit the bells with his nose. We trained him by making him ring it every time we took him out. Eventually it became habit and he would sit and wait for us. If we took too long he would ring it again 😊.
@Michelle M_ we didn’t. It that’s a good idea so they can connect the two. We took him out every 1.5-2 hours in the early puppy days and made him ring the bell before we took him out until he start ringing the bell in his own. Good luck!
As a life time lab daddy, I ,ve had seven, wake up, pick em up and go outside, eat pick em up and go outside, drink water pick em up and go outside. Each time I,d say let's go outside. IVe had labs learn in two weeks!
Thankyou Rachel, listening to you reassures I’m on the right path with my puppy….:) and your information reminded me of allot. Our dogs live long lives 17 years old …we thought no more puppies being in our 60’s ,….that didn’t last long 😂…enjoying our new puppy!!❤ you’re amazing with animals….
this isn't meant to attack Rachel. But in the interest of fairness, she did used to be against indoor potty training. Her advice for apartment dwellers was to take the dog outside every hour or so. Then ... she moved into an apartment and realized why that was completely impractical and started advocating the grass patch.
@@methosimortal I'm not sure why you felt the need to comment this, if not to pass judgement, but I'm not interested in her past views. People grow and change. I thank her for her thoughts now not something in the past.
@@nickieisknittingtoomuch well I felt the need to pass it on because most advice you're going to find online will tell you to take the dog outside every one to two hours, even if you live in an apartment. And it's important to note that she changed her mind once she lived in an apartment herself because that tells potential dog owners a lot about the experiences of the people who are giving advice in the first place (i.e. maybe some of them never lived in an apartment before for example). In addition to that, I'm not divulging some sort of secret information. those videos are still up on her channel and as such I find it perfectly acceptable to bring them up without being accused of having judgmental intentions.
...just discovered Rachel...a very enjoyable lady to listen to...my friend has a 9 week old Golden Retriever she just brought home... I will turn her onto Rachel's videos and watch them myself
We’re 3 weeks into our puppy journey and boy is it harder than it looks! Lol while we have 2 other dogs I got them when they were older so this is new territory for me! I’ve lived off of your videos lol we’re still working on potty training though! The one time I’ve strayed from your advice (out of frustration if I’m being completely honest 😩) it set her back all the way to square one so I’m going to stick to every word you say and hoping for a wonderful well trained dog in the end! ❤️
I feel very positive after watching and hearing you. I have a 4 month old puppy and I am very glad I've been doing many of the things you are suggesting, even when I didn't knew it was proven, it has been only what I learned observing and raising the puppies I had while back some years. Of course I fail on many things too, for example the punishing and also letting him see me strongly mad about it. But now I am more sure I am on the good road 😅. He is using the training pads 90 persent of the times and usually only fails at morning whe we over sleep or the cat wakes him up before us. And, he has started to chose outside over inside since he recovered from a little digestive infection. So, now I know how to do a better job, and also have the tool to share with my husband so we can really be a team. Now I am working on reducing the area and the number of spots I put pads on, trying to guide him to the entry of the house 😬. Wish me luck. My puppy is a cocker spaniel and his name is coffee 😊.
Hi Rachel! My husband and I just got a 4 month old puppy from a rescue. He is not potty trained and we have been working to potty train him. We have implemented all of your tricks and our puppy is still going pee in the house. I think he understands that outside is where he should go because he will hold it some nights for around 4 hours before we wake up to take him out in the middle of the night. He continues to go inside regardless of knowing not to. We do say STOP when he pees in the house and we immediately take him outside, the problem is that he won’t continue his pee outside no matter how long we stay out there with him. Then the moment we get back inside he goes. We stop him and take him out again and he won’t go outside. The minute we take him back inside he pees again. He does this around 4 times with small puddles. And when we take him outside he wants to play. I’m worried he thinks that peeing inside gets him outside play time. Even though we don’t play with him outside. he also has regressed and started peeing in his kennel during the day. Even if he completely emptied his bladder outside less than an hour ago. It doesn’t faze him to get it all over and jump around the kennel covered in. Do you have any advice to help this?
Hi Molly I wanted to see how you ended up training your puppy? Could you share your tricks? Haha I’m losing hope after trying for 3 weeks I’m having the exact same issue with my puppy and she’s exactly 4 months old could you share your experience please Thanks
My puppy is 4months old. I’ve had him two months. I am at wits end with the potty training. We take him out at least every hour. Doesn’t matter. He loves to pee-poop in the house.
I'm convinced your videos are going to help me properly train my puppy! seriously, I'm a bit worried, I haven't ever trained a puppy so I am studying big-time before she comes! thank you for all of these great videos Rachel! I feel better about the whole thing as I know you'll have great solutions for anything that comes up!
Getting 28 week old Havanese in about a week. Do you think your Very helpful videos on Puppy training I am going to try your way. They said she would probably be a little confused when she gets here. Last time we had a puppy was 13 yrs ago. My , my things have really changed. Never heard of crate training back then. So much new information & treats, food, equipment!! Good thing I'm watching all your videos!!! Your Ausome!!! Thank you so very much!!! Debra Mesch
I fell on this video just in time! I’m getting my little fur baby THIS WEEK and I want to do everything right! I’ll be binge watching ALL your videos in preparation🤗
I followed her instructions and it totally works! He was 9 weeks old and our success has been incredible! Today we took the cutest video of him after sitting by the door to tell us he had to go. The first time he sat by the door was maybe at 14 weeks, but he has other cues like the sniffing for a spot, jumping on the bells in his playpen area, circling on our lap to get down, etc. I also binged on her videos. Love me some her!
😊I'm glad I found this video. Quick question ⁉️ when is a good time to start giving ground beef or different food and not only dry food ? We adopted a puppy she's 12 weeks
I kinda know when my puppys all my dogs were ready to stop going on the mats because u cant force them i say last 4 days barly any poo or wees on mats now so what i done i still leave them down i walk 12 miles twice a day say few hours each walk maybe 3 hours max and he seems to be using mats less and less i might get bells train him to let me know if he wants to go in garden cockerpoos so lovly easy to train too
Hi! Idk if I've commented before but as I said I have a 4 month old Aussie! He is very smart but since some weeks ago he wasn't going to the yard (that is always open) to go potty! I had to teach him again and watched this vid! It marked so much better Potty in yard streak: 3 times in a row! By his own! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
I have a 7 week old shih tzu/havanese. Should I start potty training outside? Should I carry her out or leash her to take her out. There is a big step she needs to go down to get outside. Thanks
Love ur advice and the rewarding them while they busy..just got 2 pups and the kitchen is thier potty place thats why i was looking for advice on how to make them go outside. Only sometimes they go outside but thats ifnthey are outside...Currently they are napping and before this video i wuldve just let them walk around and play, but now after watching this, ill take them outside 🤩 I feed them also at 6 in the morning then again around 12..whats the best time to feed them at night? And do i take their water away at night time?
I am trying to train my puppy to be a service dog. I agree with you when you say it is our fault if we do not pick up the cues. I do "see" her cues in the morning; but I cannot move fast enough or have a yard set up to let her go out. I do believe in Crete training; however, one of her "tasks" is to be on the bed with me, I cannot seem to reconcile this. It is impossible for me to rapidly get dressed, time to put on the leash and collar, and difficult for me to coordinate my hands to give rewards. I have been giving much verbal praise.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen and potty videos that show using a bell by the door We just got a 9 week beagle lab cross and mostly had her potty trained in 3 days. She rings the bell when she needs to go out. It worked very quickly with my last puppy as well.
That makes so much scene, i just got a puppy that im house training, now my wife passsed away about month ago, and i needed something to occupy my mind, and Bigs came into my life at the right time, but i forgot how hard it was to potty train a puppy, you are right as far as not to get mad at the dog when he dose, i would punish my pup , but i tried it your way, and its working way faster, because i was sending him mixed signals, thank you for your help, and you have a new fan god bless 🙌 ❤️ 😊 😀
Our puppy tore up the pee pads so we trained our 11week old multipoo to ring bells at the front door. I laughed when my daughter told me about the bells but it sure works. Yes, training treats are given directly after, praise during. SUCCESS!!!!!! Females mark alot even after a long pee.
We’re getting 2 pups this weekend. Must admit watching all these videos just leaves me feeling how on earth will we train two at once. Any tips would be very appreciated.
@@juliemccormack122 Our golden doodle puppies learned immediately but I’m not sure everyone will be as lucky just because we have another dog that knows commands really well. Just try and teach them both in different rooms or even try it in the same room. I don’t have much tips but if you have an upstairs have them sleep downstairs so you don’t have to carry them both downstairs. Make sure to take them both out right after they eat and don’t be afraid to let them explore. (Just make sure your backyard is safe, otherwise get a play pen) It’s not as difficult as you’d think just make sure to do research on training.
Hello, I know this is two years old but it just came up on my screen and I do listen to your Podcasts and I have a question is it OK that I feed 50% kibble and 50% raw? If so, can it be fed together or separate RAW and then separate kibble please get back--- thank you
Do you have a video on bell training to go potty? My puppy comes home this weekend and I read that I should start it from day 1. I am so excited that I found your video, they are so informative... Thank you!
I’m loving Tom Davis at Upstate Canine Academy, and learning what “currency “ to use with puppy/dogs. If you always use food, they may never actually learn to do whatever for you..instead, they do it for food. You can reach a point where if you don’t have food, they might decide to just not do it. I can’t explain as well in a comment, check out his puppy vids..
I am trying you advice on rewarding my 4 month old puppy when she is finishing up her potty. We adopted her at 4 months and it's been 10 years since our last puppy. It can be frustrating and she has had a few accidents in the house but we are committed to training her and having a well behaved pup. She is a Westie and her name is Ivy.
when you put your dog in their crate like after when youve taken them outside to go to the bathroom but they didnt go, how long should you keep them in their crate for and should you take them outside again
So have a question I'm getting a new puppy and a few weeks. When you take them outside to go potty do you put them on a leash or do you put them in a pin or do you just put them in the whole backyard so they could go crazy over the whole backyard. Because I have a big backyard and I also have a dog pen
We are in our 70’s and adopting 2 Maltipoo puppies in November! This will be our Last Animals in our life! We LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Thanks so much! (BTW, we have children to take them in case we don’t live as long as we hope!)❤😊🎃
@@Nil-8 :: 🤣🤣🤣 We do too but, it's actually because of the Havanese breed is a Cuban favorite. My hubby and I have a crazy story from playing dominos in Little Havana.
Just found your tips.. Thank you for sharing your information regarding their bladder. I have a pomchi who like you said at the end will go out do his business or at times not then come in and straight away pee in the corner. My new eyes are on him . Thank You again.
I'm a new pitbull baby owner. My girl comes home next week after the vet visits. This info was very helpful because it made sense and because I've never owned a puppy. Always had dogs that were older.
Hi Rachel, I just found you on RUclips and you have opened my mind on raw food. I didn’t know there was an alternative to kibble! but I am a bit worried about raw food around my 3 year old and the risk of contamination from puppy. What do u think?
I have a 4 year old and I’m doing raw. While dogs are fine small humans shouldn’t be around dogs in feeding time. And personally I will not allow my pup to lick my daughter to be careful. Poop wise, I’m going to potty train in a specific place that I will teach my daughter not to come near. So This being said YOU need to do your side to make sure everything is safe. But it’s worth it. I’m thinking on doing a channel with this since I’m going to get my pup in less than 3 weeks
Thanks for all your great advice on this video. Will try on my 12 week old Yorkie. Is someone watching the video I see your cat in your kitchen walking all over the counters. I don't understand that. They shed, they lick their private parts. I love my dogs dearly but I would never let them walk around on my counters where my food is and possibly food that I would share with friends or family. For them to find cat hair in their food. It's just not sanitary.
Do you have any suggestion on potting training a 6 yr old rescue Yorkie mix? We have had her for a couple of years & she still has too many accidents inside. We have pee pads all over the house, we take her outside to go every 2-3 hours, give her treats when she goes outside, & we scratch on the door before going outside to try to train her to scratch the door when she has to go out. Nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions??
Had my puppy a couple of days, watched some of your videos before I got her and some of your vids about crating and nights. I dunno why but I've never heard these toilet related tips before and after I've used them it seems mental my friends didn't do this with their puppies and years ago we didn't do it with our dog in the past. It sure is a lot of work especially doing it at night but its easier in the fact you don't step in wee / poo. Feel like you're living in that sorta environment for weeks / months or wake up to mess to clean up every single morning which is what I remember being one of the biggest stresses for family members in the past with dogs and my friends with their new puppies. It's totally a lot of work especially waking up at night to make sure you're taking your puppy out to wee hopefully before she wakes up or is about to. But I've had 1 accident inside which was my fault not trusting what I thought her signal was and I'm sure there will be more but she knows going toilet outside is a good thing already and runs up after for praise and as her bladder gets stronger I think she'll already be mostly potty trained. You also catch on to your puppies times between needing to go to toilet after certain things really quickly. Its just been a few days so I've not got it down exactly but more than enough to make sure 98% of her toilets are done outside! I don't (Maybe I should would sure be useful I see that now) have a play pen so I need to watch her a lot of the day although she doesn't often go far from me and honestly she runs around for about 30 minutes then zonks out for an hour or two so I get some rest. It is rare too again even already that we go out hoping for a wee or poo and it isn't done as long as I'm keeping to the times I've spotted. Waking up is ALWAYS a wee and it's ready quickly if you take her out straight away when she wakes up lol. Sleeping at night and I suppose "default" is about 2-3 hours, trying 3 so I can sleep at least 3 hours at a time lol and food is 20 minutes max I would say but not instant. The waking up at the night is my absolutely favourite tip though if she poos or wees on my floor it's not a huge deal. If she has an accident in her crate at night and I'm sure it'll happen before she's potty trained then I'll likely have to clean her up! And I'd feel a bit guilty I wouldn't wanna be in my crate with a poo or wee laid down next to me and it's not like she has a choice at this age. Sorry for the long message just like... Even though it sounds like a LOT of work like I feel stupid having to be told these things now I know and have tried them. Once you actually do it even the first day you're like WOW, game changer. And really a lot of people don't do this, they cover entire rooms in puppy pads lol to try and catch all the wees and poos they feel they can't control. But you can easily learn these times and use them to train the dog QUICK! Fantastic
Hi Rachel, thank you for your informative videos! I just recently rescued two abandoned puppies abandoned on the road. I have them at my house looking for new parents for them. Can you share a few tips on how to train two puppies together? There is a lot of disctuction by each other. For instance, they think that both of their names are DaisyDali, when in fact it a two separate names. Any tips would be much appreciated🙏
Any advice on a puppy 12 weeks old I go outside and have it trying to pee and poo. I stay outside after every play, nap and feeding for half an hour as soon as I put it into the crate she poops and pees inside the crate like on command. Any advice would help thank you.
Great videos, but hand feeding isn't always feasible and depends on situation. I feed my pup 2xs a day, instead of 1. I luckily have never had issues in the dogs I've raised. I do feed them at different times. You do have alot of great advice 👍
What about a young adult (intact female)? I thought potty issues were just puppy related but she's 2 now & pooping intentionally inside despite much access to outside, doggy door & mature potty trained dog companion to demo & going outside too. Inside she usually poops in the basement or attic, both of which have a litterbox. The cat was here first & we got this dog as a puppy so cat wasnt a new change for her. She has had some excitment pee, so i wondered if its separation anxiety when we arent home since she's used to someone home most of the time esp growing up (there has not been a super regular schedule of whos home when but more than a few hours in an empty house is rare) ... or marking bc of the cat or being intact (not spayed) some kind of behavioral thing. She is happy and well adjusted otherwise. How to go back and re restablish proper potty habits in a way that is realistic and doable ?
My 3 month old great pyrenees / lab mix is a "faker". lol I watch for a stream before I will reward & do it immediately when he finishes. I tried toward the end but it interrupts him every single time. Thankfully he knows what & where I want him to do his business, it's just a matter of us getting him out on time.
Hi! I am getting a puppy and I am not sure where to put his potty spot. Going outside means going by the hall and going down two floors by the stairs. Would he hold for 5 min? Also I could have him going on the balcony but in the future would it be difficult for my puppy to learn going potty out in the park ( because of he has already learn that the balcony is where he should go) and not in the balcony? Would be confusing ? Thank you

Great information! I couldn’t afford a new Diggs crate for my baby Papillon that I will be picking up next month from the breeder, but they do have refurbished crates that come with a 1 year warranty! They are hugely discounted and still have free shipping 3-8 day delivery! Unfortunately your discount doesn’t work, but it is a great opportunity to get one. Now I need to find a small, independent pet store that can order you food for me.
It's not always as simple as "it's your fault" you can safely ignore that insinuation, and don't beat yourself up, as training is always different for different pups. This is difference is especially prominent between breed types. For instance, Hounds are completely scent driven and are ALL nose starting as early as 6 weeks. Sometimes you can take them outside 3 times in a row on schedule and still nothing is happening because they may be looking for a good spot to lay their scent, if they don't find one they'll continue to hold it. Then as soon as you come inside the 3rd time, they squat because they are tired of trying to preserve for covering a scent. Seen it many times. After seeing it for a few days with our "lux", We started training her on positive and negative cues, instead of just positive. We would make a loud clap if she started to go inside the house. She immediately stopped, and she knew she did wrong. we then took her outside, and she finished, which we then praised her. After about 3 days of this method, she understood that she HAD to expel while outside whether she found a good spot or not, and started going on the first trip out.
Is it possible to do scheduled feeding for small dogs? My dog is 500g and was told I should always have food out for him until 4months due to hypoglycemia. It's so difficult to train him

6. Make sure the crate is large enough for them to stand/turn around and small enough they won’t want to go to the bathroom in their crate
7. Never punish for going potty inside, if they do pick them up and bring them outside. Reward them for finishing their business outside.
8. Signals! Sniffing, going to the same spot they’ve had an accident at in the past, going in circles, change in behavior (butt scooch), after food and drink, after play, after naps
Thank you
Night time don't need go for body? They not do the business in cage?
Yes yes and yes
Thank you
Same, all my pups were trained the same way, to transfer their toilet scent where you need them to pee, definitely fool proof and I don’t see a lot of trainers using this method for some reason and make it more complex than it should be.
What about poop? How do you train that if they have an accident in the house?
@catherinewheel4851 can you leave it outside?
Wonderful advice. Thank you.
Hey did you start right away on your first day with him? Also do you have any extra tips? Thanks and so happy for your successful results
Awww! :)
can you touch raw meat with your hands?
After watching your potty training videos I started giving him a treat after going to potty outside. What an amazing difference this has made.
Last week, I started trying Rachel’s advice on how to convince your parents to get you a puppy and this week my parents are seriously starting to consider adopting a dog for me! Thanks so much Rachel!!!❤️🙏
🙌🙌
Hi Zara! I am the one I send you Rachel’s page, and so glad your parents are considering for you to have one 😁🙏❤️
@@RachelFusaro Hi Rachel! I send you an email about a week and half asking some questions, did you get it? ❤️🇨🇦
Hi Ana! Yes I remember, I should thank you too! I’ve been trying to convince my parents for months and I’m finally getting somewhere! Once again thanks for the great advice Rachel, and thanks so much for sharing that video with me Ana! 🐶
@@zaraankaro7513 So happy for you Zara 😁❤️🇨🇦
Finally! A puppy training video that doesn’t revolve around keeping them locked up in a crate! Thank you!🙏
I just adopted a wonderful 4 yo min pin rescue (who had been starved and abused).
Hi. Question. When you say he rings a bell, are you speaking figuratively or literally?? 😅😅😅 And if is the second one, how did you teach him?? 😬
@@ninivengl We trained him to actually ring a bell that we hung from the door we went out of to take him to the bathroom. He had to ring it with his paw before we would take him. Once he was fully trained he would ring the bell to let us know when he had to go. It’s great!
@@yvettefulton4016Genius idea. I'm going to try that. If he went potty inside, would you ring the bell and then bring him out?
@ninivengl we hung what look like jingle bells by the door we took him out of to go. He would hit the bells with his nose. We trained him by making him ring it every time we took him out. Eventually it became habit and he would sit and wait for us. If we took too long he would ring it again 😊.
@Michelle M_ we didn’t. It that’s a good idea so they can connect the two. We took him out every 1.5-2 hours in the early puppy days and made him ring the bell before we took him out until he start ringing the bell in his own. Good luck!
Do you have a video on how to teach the "place" command?
It's so nice to have a lady who does super hacks inside. Thanks!
As a life time lab daddy, I ,ve had seven, wake up, pick em up and go outside, eat pick em up and go outside, drink water pick em up and go outside. Each time I,d say let's go outside. IVe had labs learn in two weeks!
❤
Thankyou Rachel, listening to you reassures I’m on the right path with my puppy….:) and your information reminded me of allot. Our dogs live long lives 17 years old …we thought no more puppies being in our 60’s ,….that didn’t last long 😂…enjoying our new puppy!!❤ you’re amazing with animals….
New sub here. I love that you don’t invalidate indoor potty training. Sometimes it’s necessary. Thank you!
I’ve learned everyone has different experiences & needs. We’re all unique which makes everyone beautiful 😍
this isn't meant to attack Rachel.
Do you ALWAYS feed the dogs by hand?
...just discovered Rachel...a very enjoyable lady to listen to...my friend has a 9 week old Golden Retriever she just brought home...
I got 100 potty pads with my puppy, but she learned to go outside the first time my older dog showed her. I donated the pads back to the shelter
Absolutely like training children, it’s helping the brain, and bladder , it’s growth , and training!
I’ve always given the treat when/as they go as I say, “go potty” and it’s always worked wonders ❤
Haha I’m losing hope after trying for 3 weeks I’m having the exact same issue with my puppy and she’s exactly 4 months old could you share your experience please
Thanks
My puppy is 4months old. I’ve had him two months. I am at wits end with the potty training. We take him out at least every hour. Doesn’t matter. He loves to pee-poop in the house.
Like the “reward as going”…..going to try this today.
I love how the cat begins to watch from a distance but remains on film!
How have things gone for you?
@@elouise4734 pretty well! crate training plus consistency I think is helping!
I get so hungry myself watching you feed him. I'm so distracted waiting for you to give him his next pinch of food 😂😂
He is such a good boy.
This works. I have a new 9 week for a maltapoo and he has been so good!! I have had him one week and I think he is doing really well.
Getting 28 week old Havanese in about a week. Do you think your Very helpful videos on Puppy training I am going to try your way. They said she would probably be a little confused when she gets here.
What do you feed your puppy? And how do I stop my four month old from biting and pulling things
I appreciate this video and will continue to ring the bell and go outside. Thanks.
Thank you so
Much for all the tips. Can’t wait to train my puppy. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

It marked so much better
Potty in yard streak: 3 times in a row! By his own! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
I have a 7 week old shih tzu/havanese. Should I start potty training outside? Should I carry her out or leash her to take her out. There is a big step she needs to go down to get outside. Thanks
Generally thankyou for making this video extremely helpful
Love ur advice and the rewarding them while they busy..just got 2 pups and the kitchen is thier potty place thats why i was looking for advice on how to make them go outside. Only sometimes they go outside but thats ifnthey are outside...Currently they are napping and before this video i wuldve just let them walk around and play, but now after watching this, ill take them outside 🤩
I feed them also at 6 in the morning then again around 12..whats the best time to feed them at night? And do i take their water away at night time?
I am trying to train my puppy to be a service dog. I agree with you when you say it is our fault if we do not pick up the cues. I do "see" her cues in the morning; but I cannot move fast enough or have a yard set up to let her go out. I do believe in Crete training; however, one of her "tasks" is to be on the bed with me, I cannot seem to reconcile this. It is impossible for me to rapidly get dressed, time to put on the leash and collar, and difficult for me to coordinate my hands to give rewards. I have been giving much verbal praise.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen and potty videos that show using a bell by the door
We just got a 9 week beagle lab cross and mostly had her potty trained in 3 days.
Thank you so much for the video and sharing all this amazing information with us, I’ll definitely be using that soon ❤
I FINALLLY CONVICED MY PARENTS TO GET ONE. YAY , thank u so much def will do these tips! Definitely never heard of most but TYSM again! Very helpful

@Oladipupo Kayode Nice, Thankyou!
(Just make sure your backyard is safe, otherwise get a play pen) It’s not as difficult as you’d think just make sure to do research on training.
i'm adopting my husky puppy tmr, so excited!! tysm rachel :D
Hello, I know this is two years old but it just came up on my screen and I do listen to your Podcasts and I have a question is it OK that I feed 50% kibble and 50% raw?
If so, can it be fed together or separate RAW and then separate kibble
please get back--- thank you
Do you have a video on bell training to go potty?

My YorkiPoo is 7 months old. He is super hyper. How can that be controlled.
Thanks for your advice..
I love your cats tail lol.
It's fine as long as you wash your hands before touching your kid
If im 8 hours out of the house, what do i do? do i leave the puppy on a crate or o park with a pad?
Does he have to learn both crate and park?
Thanks for all your great advice on this video. Will try on my 12 week old Yorkie. Is someone watching the video I see your cat in your kitchen walking all over the counters. I don't understand that. They shed, they lick their private parts. I love my dogs dearly but I would never let them walk around on my counters where my food is and possibly food that I would share with friends or family. For them to find cat hair in their food. It's just not sanitary.
Is there anybody can tell me how many times we have to feed the puppy pls. I just got my first puppy and he is a Maltese. Pls tell me thank you🌹
Thanks For This Informative Video.
I will try this. praying this works.
I have litter Mates and it’s so hard to keep up with 2 and 2 kids under 5 but I’m definitely trying hard
Can I have a crate in the mudroom
Near the door to go outside immediately and a crate in my bedroom for nighttime? Or is that counter intuitive?
Where can I get that padded mat the dog is lying on? I love it! I have looked on Amazon, and the places you listed ....?
Thanks so much
Had my puppy a couple of days, watched some of your videos before I got her and some of your vids about crating and nights.
Fantastic
Just brought home on Christmas my 10 week old puppy! Currently working on potty training
Thankyou so much for your video. Its so good information i needed.
Thank you, very good tips
Thank you
do you have any tips to untrained peepad to outside potty training? My dogs are now 2 and we now have a yard so I’m trying to retrain them and boy am I having a hard time

Hi! Love your vids so much! How long do I have to take my puppy out to pee during the middle of the night? Right now we’re doing once a night and we’ve had him for 2 nights total.
My pittie is going on 40 lbs. He just turned 4 months. I can still carry him. Wont be long before I can't any suggestions on getting him to go out after an accident without carrying him
After they are litter trained can they roam about the house? Will they know to go back to the litter box?
It's so difficult to train him
This was encouraging. Thank you for Sharing your experience with us.
what brand is the food that you feed him? and how much?
