I just got two 7 week old foster puppies and I am using the hand feeding technique and by day 2 they were already sitting on command followed by food. I also release the food only when they sit and lick my hand. In the house, you've become part of our fostering journey...there is a lot of "well.. Rachel said...." lol Thanks for all you do!
I really wish I knew your channel way before having a dog. But instead I know it for like 2 weeks already. But you have great tips that helps my dog with his training
This has helped so much.. my new little baby cries so bad in his crate at night but when I moved the crate in my room he settles down within about 5 minutes of getting in for the night.. so far, about 4 hours after bedtime I get up to bring him to potty and we haven't had any accidents and he actually is loving his bed and will go in there during the day to take his nap... your videos have been more helpful than any other videos I've watched we have had amazing results so far and I feel like im understanding him better than I've ever understood any pet 🤗
Rachel I want to thank you. I got my goldendoodle yesterday and he loves his crate, feeding time, and has only had one accident in the house ( I think 🤔 🤣 couldn't really tell what it was on the carpet could have been drool) lol 🤣 he sits in front of me waiting for me to give him direction so eager to learn. Your tips work !

Thank you so much rachel for the help back in September when i got my 18 week pup and your videos helped me soo much. Shes an amazing 10 month pup now. I enjoy your videos very much❤️
We plan to switch the dog to just a bed once she’s old enough. We ended up not bothering with the Crete when we got our previous dog at 6 months old (she was toilet trained by then)
I have absolutely done everything wrong on the first day :,) I was about to start training him the basic sit command, his name, and some potty training. But he absolutely refuses to stay in his crate without whining and crying. I'm probably not going to get sleep the first night, but hopefully these 2 videos will help me correct and replan a routine so that I can sleep and have him start on the path to be an amazing dog
It means so much that you want to help lovely dog parents to provide their awesome puppies with the best lives ever!❤️ I love your videos so much!!!!❤️❤️
Any tips on how to get them to focus? My 8 week old puppy is having trouble focusing on me when I’m trying to teach the marker word “YES” etc or feeding
Any tips on confidence building exercises for dogs at home? Anything would be helpful 😊... @Rachel Fusaro you mentioned that some of your older foster dogs tried to chew the blanket over the crate.. I have found putting a cartboard that is slightly larger than the crate on the crate then putting the blanket on top helps! Thanks 😊
Great idea! Thank you for sharing (and fir being here) 🙏 Confidence often comes from working with your pup on basic cues, obedience, socializing and brain games. The more your pup successfully completes these activities the more confidence they can build! It takes practice and a lot of reps. Sort of like riding a bike 🚲
I just bought my puppy home and he’s only nine weeks and I’m so nervous! I’ve watched your videos for months now before finally feeling comfortable enough to get one and now that he’s here, I’m terrified of doing the wrong thing again smh
You said your puppy may have to go outside for business every one to 3-4 hours. I have been taking my now 10 week old puppy outside for her business every 15-20 minutes for the 5-6 days I’ve had her, (except for overnight when she’s held it for up to 6 hours- yay!!) to be extra certain I don’t have any accidents to clean up!! Am I over doing it? I see her sniffing, or seeming like she’s looking for something and don’t want to risk her forming a substrate preference for area rugs or slate tile!!! I have had 3 small chihuahuas and a chi mixes for the last 18 years (the only little one still with me is 18 currently, and I also have an almost 8 y/o American Bully that is incredibly well trained and gives me zero trouble ever), they- the littles-were soooo hard to potty train! I am now living in the first home my husband and I have ever owned, and I would do literally almost anything to avoid my new American bully puppy treating our first home as a bathroom. After all of the years of accidents (on purposes lol) it’s not negotiable for me, especially here, where we have a 1930 Dutch colonial with original hardwoods that aren’t as easy to keep nice as, say, vinyl flooring. I have to admit, I am completely worn out!! I feel like I have a toddler on crack! She doesn’t sit still for more than 3 minutes at a time and I spend my day walking around the house following her everywhere and taking her out constantly, and of course lots of short training/play times! I can only relax during crate time, but it’s really important to me that the crate isn’t overused and that she doesn’t feel like it’s a punishment. I have watched hours of your videos and am learning a lot about where I went wrong with my previous little dogs, and even what to do since my new puppy (Teagan), wants to play with my 2 older dogs, and they want nothing to do with her!! Thank you so much for all of your useful tips and tricks!!! I am just wondering if I may be overdoing it with the very frequent bathroom trips outside? With the way I’ve been doing this, she has only had 2 small accidents inside since bringing her home, but I am definitely exhausted and overwhelmed!! Any suggestions?
Hey Rachel! I finally got my puppy!!!!!!!! Do you have any tips on training not to eat everything they see? She loves eating anything and everything she sees inside and outside. Thank you!
Yes yes!! I had a foster puppy that did this once, even tried to eat rocks! I learned she just needed more mental stimulation to keep her mind busy and we practiced redirection and showing her things she could chew and eat! Here’s some ideas! m.ruclips.net/video/RKlHdl2JZb0/видео.html
One piece of advice I've heard for a young puppy spending his or her first time with you is to give the puppy a hot water bottle and a ticking clock. This will remind the puppy of sleeping with warm littermates and hearing the mother's heartbeat and make the puppy more comfortable and so shorten the period of whining and crying.
Hi, i like to know if i can feed my 6 mths old Labrador oatmeal? I mean the instant oatmeal meant for human. I'm thinking to mix it up in it's kibbles or raw meat. I have access to lot's of instant oatmeal and i know it's a very healthy food meant for the human. Thanks!
hi! how do you get your puppy to stop taking things from inside (tv remote, slippers etc) and bringing them outside. when i try to get the object they just run away from me?
Oh Ive been there! 😆 Honestly for us, we controlled the environment as best as we could - and we tried to keep things out of our puppy’s reach to avoid this. We focused on the toys and chews he could chew, and rewarded big time when he did!
Watching your videos is great. Our dog who passed away at 14 recently was with us since 6 months old so our new dog will be 8 weeks old. That’s the youngest we’ve had a dog. All your tips are super helpful. I’m having stocker shock at the Canadian prices of the healthy natural treats. I’m thinking would it be good to make home made ?
I am getting a Yorkie-poo soon at 8 wks. I will be using pee pads along with taking her out as I’m 84 and not as agile as a younger momma. But will be using a lot of your tips. Hopefully she will train easily.
Hi Rachel, love your videos. Thank you! We are planning on getting a puppy soon. We live in a two story home. Bedrooms upstairs. My question is, if we have the puppy in the bedroom for the first week or so, should we have puppy pads/grass pads in our bedroom too? I’m just concerned if he/she needs to wee, it’s quite a walk to the grass area outside, so I’m worried we won’t make it! Thank you.
Hi Rachel! Me and my family is hopefully going to buy a dog this year (from a responsible breeder, because of allergy). I have been watching your videos for sometime now and I always wonder how I should "introduce" the crate in the best way possible to make the night go as "smooth" as It could? English isn't my first language so I don't really know if I can explain what I mean, but I think I want a more "detailed" explanation on the first night so I can understand it a little better :) I hope you're having a good day!
Rachel, my labradoodle always ran hot. He would whine to go outside when it was snowing and 17degrees. He would sleep outside in the weather. I felt like a terrible dog mom.
What size Diggs crate did they send you for Wally? I have two 8 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppies coming soon and don't know if the Medium is the way to go... or if I get two Mediums.
Hi!! We used a medium for Wally - but if your dog will be much larger than ~40LBs than the medium may be too small 😔 I think they plan to make a larger one soon!!
Please, how do we teach Puppy to “stay” or hold a sit ? Have you got that in a video already? Your videos are amazing, God bless you. You are helping me so much with my ten week old furry shark- I mean German Shepherd X 🥰
We getting our goldendoodle Saturday!! His name is Larry 😊 8 weeks old! We was thinking to have the create in the living and that fist week sleep on the couch, what is your opinion?
Hi, I'm due to have a new puppy on Monday, our first. So just trying to get as many tips as possible, this is the 2nd video I've seen on bringing a puppy home / 1st night etc. But I'm a little torn & confused as the other video I've seen (Dog Behaviourist) seems to suggest putting the crate in your bedroom / your presence is creating a rod gor your own back. So a conflict of opinion & technique, but which method do I go with?
I have a 9 week old puppy and he doesn’t seem to be good motivated. I have tried hand feeding and he wants it but doesn’t care to try to work for it and looses interest or it might be that he might not like the raw food I’m feeding him. Any advice?!
What do I do if whenever I leave the room my puppy starts crying, since he doesn't get any alone time durring they day, this makes it hard for at night when hes supposed to be sleeping. I tried leaving him alone and not doing anything as long as hes safe at night, but he just keeps crying.
It’s normal for puppies to want to be near you, so it’s important to have them practice being without you multiple times a day (fir short durations to start) so they get used to it. Here’s how! m.ruclips.net/video/cakUoHOMWxo/видео.html
My dog is SO picky. We've tried different types of kibble as well as a couple raw brands, and he still doesn't get excited to eat. (he's on a raw diet now.) I already add treats to his food sometimes, but he just doesn't want to eat, and I don't know why. Any tips?
OMG I love you so much you are a big help. I write down each and every word you say I have a big folder and in that I have your words. Edit: Pls make me the comment of the day.
We have a puppy arriving Monday from interstate (Australia) and so will be crate training him with the crate he flew in. Will there be any problems that the puppy might have negative associations with the crate from flying and if so how do we combat that? The flight arrives mid day so we have plenty of time to try and get him used to it before bed time the first night
Hi Rachel, Thank you for your channel it has been such a big help. I've also tried the feeding from my hand while teaching him to sit/down and touch which works wonders but now my Milo refuses to eat from his bowl on his own unless I feed him from my hand while teaching tricks. I can be in the other room but he won't eat the food, I've even tried encouraging him. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? 🙂
I'm getting a female 8 week old golden doodle next week. My family and I are very excited! My question is at 8 weeks old how often do I take her potty during the night? Is it every 2 hours or 4?
How do we stop a puppy peeing on the floor? Got 2 mini pins 2 wks ago but our boy tends to wet the floor and not the pad. He won't go outside when its really hot so trying to get him to use the pad.
Do you have a crate you’d recommend for a large or giant breed dog? I looked at the linked one but they only have small and medium available. Great videos btw. I’m binge watching (I have a couple months before our puppy comes home 😊)
I’m so excited because I’m getting my puppy on Saturday in five days and i have been basically stocking youre Chanel lol so I’m and supper reddy 🥳 p.s it’s the puppy on my profile picture ☺️

My family has decided to get a cockapoo and are 100% ready because of this channel without you i would be lost!
😍😍
How expensive is his raw food because I looked it up and most raw food is very expensive
Love that you’re doing research! Raw food is actually not much more than premium kibble bc you end up feeding less, since it’s so nutrient dense!
Thank you
Do you close the crate at night during the first few nights even when you put the crate next to the bed?
Yay its taday

Great question! And I am so happy that you are here ❤️ I have the perfect video for you: m.ruclips.net/video/C8cV2D1GGbg/видео.html
What if ur using a playpen instead of a crate?
First night with our puppy, we also took the sheet away, and he slept 7 hours without even whining!
Rachel, my labradoodle always ran hot. He would whine to go
outside when it was snowing and 17degrees.
You are helping me so much with my ten week old furry shark- I mean German Shepherd X
🥰
theres many videos on youtube teaching that u can search it
I have a loft bed, should i put the crate under me or should i let the puppy sleep with me
We getting our goldendoodle Saturday!! His name is Larry 😊 8 weeks old! We was thinking to have the create in the living and that fist week sleep on the couch, what is your opinion?
What should i do if my puppy doesn’t want to drink water?
Can you add some to their food?
@@RachelFusaro yes I tried that but I’m just a bit worried he’s not drinking enough water
So a conflict of opinion & technique, but which method do I go with?
at what age / behavior is appropriate to stop hand-feeding?
Hi Rachel what kind of dog is he?
Dang, girl, you are terrific.............
Does anyone know what breed he is wally
Australian labradoodle ❤️
I have a 9 week old puppy and he doesn’t seem to be good motivated. I have tried hand feeding and he wants it but doesn’t care to try to work for it and looses interest or it might be that he might not like the raw food I’m feeding him. Any advice?!
Yes you can use toys or treats instead!! Some dogs aren’t food motivated and that’s totally normal
Any tips?
Picky dogs can be tough, I feel ya 😞 Have you tried letting it get to room temp? Changing protein? Adding canned sardines (no salt)?
@@RachelFusaro yup I've tried all of those, I even warm up his food because he likes it better warm! haha
Rachel!! I love your videos!! What breed of dog is Wally?
For how long should you sleep in the same room as your puppy?
OMG I love you so much you are a big help. I write down each and every word you say I have a big folder and in that I have your words.
Edit: Pls make me the comment of the day.
You are the reason this community is so amazing!! Thank you for your awesomeness 😍
OMG you replied this is a very grateful moment for me. #Saveallthedamndogs
I was just surprised with a puppyyyyy
My puppy wont pee outside because its cold and he keeps shivering. I take him inside and he pees. What do I do?
You can buy a sweater for them to keep them warm
Can you use a fresh grass patch on a patio?
How do we stop a puppy peeing on the floor? Got 2 mini pins 2 wks ago but our boy tends to wet the floor and not the pad. He won't go outside when its really hot so trying to get him to use the pad.
Do you have a crate you’d recommend for a large or giant breed dog? I looked at the linked one but they only have small and medium available. Great videos btw. I’m binge watching (I have a couple months before our puppy comes home 😊)
what brand of raw food do you use? i'm giving my new puppy (got her 3 days ago) Freshpet
Some brands I love are answers pet food, OC Raw and Bones & Co of course (I do their social too!!)
wally is like ma’am hello i’m sitting on in laying now where is my food lol
I’m so excited because I’m getting my puppy on Saturday in five days and i have been basically stocking youre Chanel lol so I’m and supper reddy 🥳 p.s it’s the puppy on my profile picture ☺️
