Thanks! Really appreciate your comment. I have shot a heap more vids but haven’t had a chance to edit them yet. Trying to make time to finish them, hope to see you here later! Cheers 🙂
Very informative video, you are making me want a Maxx ... Now I'm curious to see what Traxxas makes for the front and rear diffs ... Hope you'll cover that in the future 😀 Thanks a lot for sharing and keep those awesome videos coming ! 😀😀
Hey mate and thanks! Appreciate it. The Maxx is certainly an awesome piece of work 😁👍. I’m super curious for the front / rear upgrade diffs too and will definitely update the series when / if anything comes along. I should specify too that the stock diffs are awesome as is, I’m just really interested in how it all works together in the larger system. 😉 Cheers!
Brilliant video keep them coming :) you have a new subscriber :) Look forward to more content from you if this one is anything to go by the rest will be good.
Thanks mate! I have a few more filmed but need to make time to edit. I appreciate the comment, inspires me to finish off some more bench and running vids. Cheers!
Good find mate! I had a look and can’t find the right part number either. Might be worth contacting Traxxas support about this. Can you report back here when you find out please? Very interested to know the answer to this.
@@Boostabeats According to traxxas they changed the part and now the stock maxx ring gear is the same one that comes with the 8980 diff. They must be using 8mm shafts in the newest maxx? They are sending me a new one so ill confirm that is correct when i receive it.
@@greysileighty Well done mate! Wow, that is interesting. Very keen to know if they have indeed changed to 8mm shafts in the stock Maxx! Thanks mate, appreciate the info 👍
@@Boostabeats well the part finally showed up yesterday and is indeed the same one as the stock maxx came with. It is frustrating that I asked the guy from traxxas to please verify the part before they send it to me and they confirmed it was the correct one. I even used a screen shot of your video so they could see visually what I was talking about. Looks like I’ll be calling them again tomorrow.
Ahh man, sorry to hear that, and thanks for reporting back! I looked over my old exploded views and couldn’t see any difference in the current parts list. They’d have to change the whole stock Maxx center diff to use the 8980 spur gear, so I didn’t know what they were up to. I also still can’t find the correct part number for the 8980 spur anywhere. I hope you get them to sort it soon! Let us know the real part number when you do! Sorry for the late reply too, been out of internet range.
I have a small issue with my maxx I just replaced my rear ring and pinion and it keeps slipping but I have ear plugs in the center could that be why it's still slipping?
The stock diff is plenty strong, I've only seen two die in a year of keeping an eye out online. The upgrade is slightly stronger internally and in the cup, but it still steps down to the same reduced diameter with the pin hole for the output connections. I would say a nice upgrade to have but by no means necessary.
Sorry mate, missed this 6 months ago. Just click through to 4:00 mins in. That’s the upgraded Maxx to E-revo2 center diff comparison. Basically the same, different ring gear. Cheers!
Honestly mate I don’t think I have seen any significant failures of the stock center diff in the past two years. Breakages are always possible, even with the upgrade, but really the stock center diff is most likely all the strength most of us will ever need 👍
@@Boostabeats Wow my bad. Good job. I always hate having things like that happen. Or ever worse is if you go to watch the video after you posted it and spot a more significant error.
@@MetrologyEngineer for sure! I really try to be as accurate as I can, and even small mistakes like this still grate my nerves, even after correction. Oh well, we can try to be perfect, but we’ll never be happy if we can’t also live with our inevitable human imperfections 🤪. Cheers mate!
Hello, please continue with the video making. This one is the best on RUclips regarding Maxx Differential!
Thanks! Really appreciate your comment. I have shot a heap more vids but haven’t had a chance to edit them yet. Trying to make time to finish them, hope to see you here later! Cheers 🙂

Your voice is incredible and remarkably similar to Farket's voice (another RUclipsr). Very helpful video nonetheless, very much appreciated!
Thanks very much mate. I had a listen and you’re right 🤣. I try make the audio easy to listen to. Thanks again mate, glad the vid was helpful. Cheers!

Thankkkkkkkkkyou!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Great video. Do you know what diff fluid of was traxxas used that that upgraded 8980 diff?
Thanks mate! Yep, it’s 20 million. It seems solid but flows over enough time. See one of my other vids of 4 hours condensed into 30 seconds 😉. Cheers!
anyone know what the part number for the 8980's ring gear is? exploded view for stock maxx diff and 8980 shows it being the same 8988. Thanks

It may be that the earplugs are not packed in tight enough? The cup is supposed to be fully packed. Other than that there’s no reason I can see?
Any reason to upgrade to this diff other than the strength increase? My stock maxx center diff is fine, but I want to have a spare just in case.

I need to replace my spur gear. Do I need oil for the job?
No mate, not for your spur, it just screws to the cush drive.
Compare the e revo 2.0 center diff to the upgraded maxx diff

What fluid will you run?
I’m running silicone earplugs, but it ranges all the way down to 50k if you want the front wheels to stay down.
I have to get one once I get payed xD

I realised that in editing the vid and added the correction in the video description.
