I couldn't get very detailed or process oriented help from traxxas and found this. Such a helpful channel to cover the basics! And your unique process has sound technique but the minimizing of the process is truly brilliant!! much cleaner simpler way to get through it. Also like that you just use a powered set to not over torque and there's no hiding that. Makes a massive difference. Worlds faster, worlds more clear. Diagrams are not enough, we need intelligent steps like this. Thank you for posting this!
A few of us started to silicone up the bulkheads because they allow water and debris to come in. After months of bashing and rechecking we found it works very well.
Thank you brother. When i was at the LHS I couldn't understand why someone would want someone else to work on their vehicle but I'm trying to look at it as for someone maybe is not sure how to do it so here you go. 👍💯👊
Thanks for showing the keying on the axels. I broke a bunch and I guess it's because I was just jamming them in and eyeing how much stock I have to leave out, essentially adding a ton of stress to the driveshafts. Actually had them slide in a bunch of times on the keying by fluke and thought to myself that can't be right lol
too much FLEXIBLE plastic and pieces BUT that's also why it has a tendency to NOT break (under normal circumstances) but FLEX and then allow grit to ENTER😂😜😝🤣👍💯👊
Very helpful video. Liked and subscribed. Fantastic job explaining how, what and where. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the rest of the series. Excellent
I don’t use the word dude at all but… DUDE you made that look sooo sooo easy that I had no problem hitting that subscribe button. Thank you for this vid keep up the good work.
I went through my maxx after i rebuilt the diffs i took the thick double sided 3m esc tape and put this strips all around all the seams where the truck guess back together to make it more water tight like where the skid plate mate to chassis ect. Works good no rust or water getting in.
I’m taking my maxx apart for everything laid out on my table, it’s my first time and I’m enjoying re greasing it and changing the middle and rear grease in diffs
I’m changing my rear to 10k and my center to 60k.. you think it will good? Also I put a lot of grease in front section hoping to keep out the sand and I’ll do same to rear
RC Guy Garage I just opened it up it has 20 million in the center, how important is it to clean off every piece off the diff to put new wt in? I’m cleaning it anyways though with a toothbrush and towel
@@danberger873 depends on its condition (visual) if it hasn't degraded (physical) then I myself never worry as sometimes a change isn't even necessary.
you should have a magnetize/demagnetize little brick. you just rub the bit on it a couple times and its lasts for a few days i find then do it again.. i have on dangling from my work bench.. since it never lost a screw haha o have a grinding noise now though. cant figure it out i put in the metal spur gear and it started but the gear is mint ive checked it after every run and i did the diffs last week.. they had barley any oil from factory except the center one had like 3/4s weird.. but regardless it didnt fix it.. any suggestions would be great.. btw it only grinds when hitting reverse from med to high speed. maxx is defiantly my fave truck though and im starting to have to many cars to keep in my apartment haha🤫
Great vid series! Just had my first 'fatal' mishap after 4+ weeks with Maxx . This vid helped me pinpoint my problem at about the 13:40 min mark. My front bulkhead (#8920) was snapped in-half under the skid plate. And once removed, found the front drive hub (#8954) was smashed to powder. (Exibit A - photos.app.goo.gl/oKzFoZFZEgVsdd1u8 and Exibit B - photos.app.goo.gl/X8yMtitgfagefGxF6 ) Wasn't even a particularly violent impact that did her in either. Just wear over time, I guess. Waiting on replacement parts. Now I get to follow your directions on diff cleaning! Yay?
I have a question for ya since you seem to know the Maxx inside and out... i had to replace the feont bulk head that holds the diff in place, after getting everything back together when i drive it the streering doesnt want to center when driving or when the weight is on the vehicle. It has to be something i put back together which is leading me to the steering is be bound up, what screws could i have over tighten to cause it to bind ? And i didnt touch any steering parts other than putting the bearings on the new bulk head.
I wish I could fully understand this comment I think I kind of get what you're saying and I appreciate it I think as long as I understand what you're saying cuz there is no translator
awesome video man, this will help me a ton when i go to service my vehicle. Will you be doing a video of the cleaning/servicing process? can you add what grease and diff fluid you use if you do? Thanks so much.
Should I change fluids in all differentials since I gonna be running Proline Trenchers HP Belted 3.8 with 20/50 gearing. If So what would be a good weight to use in all differentials.
Sorry for me differentials are tuned for what I'm looking to get out of the vehicle. Changing fluids should also be done as maintenance approx 20 packs
@@michaelfraley4660 it's debatable similar to oil changes on your vehicle. I say 20 some say 30 it's dependant on TOO many variables but if I'm asked my answer is 20
How do you like the 500k rear, 100k front? I watched the running video, but you think you could feel the difference? I was thinking of doing the exact same thing.
@@rcguygarage haha, no worries man. I ended up doing it. I think I'm going to like it. Especially once the snow gets here. Pretty rare not to have snow in Central Wisconsin on Christmas eve.

I see others not removing them,,,,just wondering. Love your detailed tutorials,,I follow them all,,,,great stuff! Did you say you’re from Clinton ma. I’m from Worcester,,,another damn yankee😀

Hi, how are you? I have a question: using a heavier and thicker silicone oil in the rear differential, would it increase traction on the rear wheels to help me do standing backflips? I'm from Brazil and no one on the internet was able to answer this question. Traxxas Maxx 4S.
The center diff is what will plant the rear wheels to the ground giving you that capability BUT that is damaging to the drivetrain. It puts lots of stress on the entire model.
@@rcguygarage Woooow!! Thanks for the reply and help!! xD Okay, so the center differential is more important. I'm going to use silicone earplug on it. And if I want to balance this force between the front and rear differential a little more, does the weight of the silicone between them make a difference to the torque force? I wanted to do the same as you and go with 500k in the back. Thanks for warning about the danger of standing backflips, as I only have one RC Truck, I take good care of it, I'm a perfectionist and I won't make many jumps ^^
Hey what's up really like your channel I subscribed about a month ago. Quick question do you put grease on the center diff ring gear like you do on the front and rear diffs?
