    Video Overview:
This video is a review and comparison of the Original Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 to the New Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50. In this video I discuss the reformulation of this mineral tinted sunscreen- which ingredients are the same, which ingredients are different & how that impacts the consistency, formulation, application & finish. I also talk about whether or not this sunscreen is fragrance free or not. Then I show application clips and/or swatches of each of the 3 shades: Fair to Light, Medium to Tan, and Rich to Deep. I show a side by side comparison on my face of the original formula vs. the new fair to light shade to see if there is any difference in color, and also a side by side comparison of the fair to light vs. medium to tan shade on my face. I talk through some of the aesthetic benefits of this sunscreen like its mattifying, pore blurring affect, smooth and blend-able application, no white cast, and long lasting wear time. I explain which skin types may like this sunscreen best (oily skin, dry skin, normal skin, combination skin, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin).

Seeing all your comments that the original formulation had ingredients listed alphabetically and not in order of predominance... so bizarre?! So who really knows who the difference in ingredient percentages is, but regardless the comments I made about formulation & finish changes still hold true for me 😊

Hi Abbey, I dont know much about skincare but honestly , I know enough to think putting sunscreen ingredients in alphabetical order is just weird. Because then how in the world would we figure out how much of each ingredient is in the sunscreen! And we all know very well it makes a world of a difference! Thank you for all you do. You are always appreciated:)

There is a reason, though not a useful one.
Sunscreens fall under the same labeling regulations as over the counter drugs - not cosmetics and skin care. For o-t-c drugs, they have to list the active ingredients at the top with percentages, but can list the inactive ingredients in any order.
Skin care and makeup must list ingredients in order by amount, down to 1% or less, then can list in any order.
I was going to mention the 1% level in regards to the iron oxide - as long as there's less than 1%, they can list it last if it has 0.999% or 0.01%. So the different shades almost certainly have different amounts, but not enough to bother with designing and printing different labels.
I'm am amateur cosmetic formulator and obsessive label reader :)

Totally agree, tinted sunscreens and bb creams need to come in a wider variety of shades! This is for sure a step in the right direction, but I hope more brands start to carry a wider variety of deep shades in the future. That being said, I definitely want to try this new formulation now. Thanks for your review!

Years of using almost every sunblock out there, hands down this is the only one that doesn’t have that sticky / heavy texture other sunblocks have. It has an amazing silicon-y texture, applying it feels more like applying a foundation.

Thanks for explaining everything. I was curious to know the difference between the old and the new version. I just tried this for the first time and I can’t believe I was sleeping on this! I usually wear European sunscreen with newer chemical filters but what I do is apply this for reapplication after applying my initial morning application of my usual spf. It helps bring down the shine. Love it

Excellent review! I’ve used Australian gold tinted-the original, SPF 50, for a few years. I bodyboard and this holds up amazingly well even in salt water. I am 65 years old and live at the beach. I’ve had a couple bouts with melanoma so it’s important for me to have a product that works. I also want something that doesn’t make me look like a ghost or is aging to my skin. I’m ordering the new medium to tan and I will be mixing it with the original fair… Thanks for the tip! ❤️

Thank you for this review! I have found that many companies are changing their ingredient list orders for better regulation compliance so who knows how it’s really changed if at all! This spf has always been too dark and drying for me, but I see it and hear about it everywhere. It seems like mineral SPFs may be pushed to become more like a foundation shade range these days. For many formulas, to cover the white cast, it’s going to be considerably tinted in which undertones and shade then become an issue. It’ll be interesting to see how mineral SPFs evolve. I personally use European spf, specifically Altruist spf 50. Mineral spf has been too problematic for me between white casts, tints, ruined clothing, and skin irritation between dryness and whatever else about mineral SPFs.

Hi Abbey. Thank you for the review of all of the shades. I’ve used all of them except the fair shade. I really like the product overall. it works well with reapplication too since I don’t wear makeup. I would absolutely love to win this for my 8 year old. My 8 year old is mixed and very much on the dark side. My child always gets upset when I start with the sun screen due to the excessive rubbing and blending I have to do on the face arms and neck at the very least as we do not go outside without sunscreen. Thx for all the informative tutorials/videos much appreciated. 😊

I knew that they changed the way they listed ingredients on the label instead of actually reformulating but I agree 100% with you. The new formulation feels a lot less drying for some reason than the original. I still have a tube of the old one I think I’m going to stick to instead of using the new medium to tan. It’s orange under tone sucks for me

This video was great! I am extremely fair skinned, I even find the original too orange for me, I was happy to hear there was a new fair to light option but a bit disappointed that it is pretty much the same as the original, I am so glad to you for reviewing this so I didn't waste my money buying the same sunscreen tint that I already have

Hi Abbey! Excellent review! I've used three different tinted sunscreen such as Elta MD, Drmtlgy, Cerave but I've heard great reviews of this Australian Gold, so I got one and used it for the first time today. Right after, perfect except for one thing. I felt a slight sting on my face, not uncomfortable but I just wonder if you have some feedback about that. Do you think it must be due to the Eucalyptus? Again, thanks. So worth subscribing to your channel. Great information!
I wonder if someone else has the same experience (?)

Great video Abbey, thanks! I’ve been using the original formula recently and find it sooo hard to remove with Micellar water (my preferred choice of first cleanse) and even my second cleanse too. It clings to my skin like crazy. I think it’s because I’ve got dry skin. Do you think the new formula might be a bit more hydrating?

At first I thought the ingredient formulations for both products were different, but then I found out the ingredients could be sorted in alphabetical (original tint) or from most present to least present (new tints). Idk why they sorted the ingredients differently (even thought they’re mostly formulated the same) but o well, great video as always abbey 🥰

Hey Abbey!! Great video it was really helpful I just have one question. So I noticed that this is a bb cream. • @JingoCrochet
      @JingoCrochet 3 года назад +1

i noticed her bottles say bb cream on them too her video was posted almost a year ago though, I just purchased a bottle of the fair to light and the 'bb cream' description isnt on it so i think they might have just remodeled the bottle within the past year and took away that description. I wouldn't call it a bb cream either (from my knowledge bb creams are usually tinted moisturizers) and this product is very much a tinted mineral sunscreen (mineral sunscreens are known for having very bad white casts so they typically make them tinted to hide that white cast so it blends well into the skin). Hope this helps!

Just FIY for healthcare employees here or whoever have to wear face shield on top of your mask all day, GIVE THIS SUNSCREEN A CHANCE! Your face wont get sweaty.!
