Head swap, going to try the ProMaxx 180cc SBF

- Have a few weeks until next test and tune so. Decided to swap out the Trickflow heads to ProMaxx because the Tricflows clear the 86 flat top pistons and the ProMaxx will clear on the 308 in the car since it has valve reliefs. Only making a few changes to see if we can better our 11.55 pass 2 weeks ago at next Test and Tune Jan 16th.

Damm them headers have some huge tunes what are they 💪💯🔴🔧🦊🚗
Awesome stuff! I’ve been looking at the Promaxx heads. I might do going the same route soon.
@@vrm86gt what’s your pistons to deck height on that block? My is 0 deck and I’m wanting to try the Promaxx but didn’t know if it will be to close.
The term for the valves not in line is canted or splayed sometimes called semi- hemi
yes, canted if the angle in and away from the cylinder bore when opening
Nice, always wondered how those heads hold up.
I enjoyed the video, one of the things I don't like about my car is the spool. I don't recommend for a car that you want to drive alot.
Should have put on the stage 2 gt40. You would have picked up 3 tenths over the Holley. This is what customers are reporting and what the dyno shows us.
@@vrm86gt got it! Should be fun!!
Interested in how these heads perform. I put BluePrints on my 302 and I feel it’s lazy... I had a trickflow and AFR heads and of course they worked great. Wish I saved little more for AFR’s again. Oh well. Very nice build. Can’t wait to see results👍🏻
@@vrm86gt awesome man. Can’t wait to see! Love it man. I miss my foxbody’s.
@@vrm86gt thanks for the sub👍🏻
Thats what my clearance was with my twisted wedge heads...090. I had them milled to 58cc's
@@vrm86gt I think they say you want minimum of .100 or .120. But I've seen others run .080 as well
Im thinking about buying a set of those promaxx heads. Depending on your results lol
Next mod is going to be a parachute 💪💪
How much timing are you running with the promaxx It only seems to like 30-31* anything after that it doesn’t like it my other heads I could run 36 all day
I am curious what CC volume intake & combustion chamber the trickflows are compared to the Promaxx heads?? I am looking forward to your test and tune thoughts on the Promaxx heads as well. Thanks for posting this as I havent found much info on the Promaxx heads.
@@vrm86gt Glad you got it fired back up. So what is the CR and CC size of the two sets of heads??
@@vrm86gt Thanks for the update. 2cc wont make much of a difference. Did the Promaxx start off at 175cc or 180cc runner size as they offer both.
@@vrm86gt Awesome. Your track ET's will be a good comparison of the Trickflows 170's VS the Promaxx 180's. I will be waiting for your thoughts and track results with great interest.
Hi did you get the engine back together? I recently had the same heads installed in my 84 Mustang. The car is still at the shop and I was wondering what you thought of your results and if you had any testing done.
@@vrm86gt 11.55 is a really good ET and will be tough to beat.
Did you happen to get the car out on jan 16 for the test and tune. Im looking forward to see your results
Hey brother what’s the piston to deck height on your engine? If you remember. The reason I’m asking is because my engine is 0” deck and I was just curious if that same length push would work for mine. I plan to double check but figured I would ask. Thanks man
@@vrm86gt oh wow. Ok thanks brother. I was just trying to get a idea of what size pushrod I would need
@@vrm86gt yep! I agree 100%
How have they been holding up? I’m debating on getting these installed in my stock 95 gt I got for my foxbody. Did you have a problem with stock pistons not clearing?
Aww man that sucks! What cam are you running?
That would be a good cam for nitrous. I’m going with stage 1 cam. Now I’m debating on NKB or Promaxx. I see your in Northern California like me.
Hayward ca
Ok I will!
Curious if you got back to the track yet and what's your opinion of these heads and how's the ET's??
Wondering if you ever went to the track with the promaxx heads

does the blue print engine have OEM style piston as far as stock type valve reliefs???
@@vrm86gt i just bought a set of the promaxx 180 heads for my 5.0 i have a couple questions if youd be so kind as to answer. first question did you rocker studs break throught the port roof where the factory drilles the head for the studs? second question did you have to flycut your pistons for valve clearance? i have heard that 2.02 valves would not clear the stock valve reliefs on an inline valve head
@@jackrabbit7389 the heads will clear stock valve reliefs, I run the same heads on a 91 302 with a mild solid lift cam
@@GR-RadioSouthCarolina what specs on your cam Amd how much clearance did you end up with I gonna measure PTV clearance regardless all engines are different one from the other just trying to get an idea. Mine also is a 91 short block.
