When I buy a PC Engine, it will be because of you...your videos keep the passion for this system alive! True story: the TurboGrafx 16 was the first console I convinced my mom to get me in the early 90s from Toys R’ Us. And I’ve had fond memories of it ever since.
Catching some of your videos I have missed.
Whenever i watch your videos i cant help but notice how clean are the streets:)
It's because they lack 'diversity'
@@gigatywing3483 Other places in the world lack 'diversity' and are not clean, I think Japan is just clean in general
Man, The shrink wrap/cellophane really makes everything look great and worth the cost. You could wrap up anything and it will look awesome. They really know what they are doing over there. 👍
Hey man, love your vids. Was just in Tokyo at the end of May/first week of June and spent a good amount of time in the stores looking for Macross stuff and PCEngine games. Bought my Turbografx with CD unit back in '93 and still play it up to this day. I've always wondered how many of us "older" dudes are still out there playing our Turbo/PCEngine and running around looking for games. Keep it up with the great vids.
I'm trying not to buy a bunch retro games for a while but then I see these videos.....
_gets up, grabs keys, and heads to the car_
Ah shit, here we go again.
The yellowing of plastics is actually caused by 0² and UV rays : )
Not smoke.
The extreme yellowing on that multi tap was definitely from years of nicotine build up. Most yellowing is indeed caused by oxygen and UV as you said, but long term exposure to heavy cigarette smoke as well takes it to another level. The Japanese sure love their cigarettes!
Love that the PCE Urusei Yatsura game is in the thumbnail.
Always good looking around these stores with you ☺ ♥ 🇯🇵
another epic video,. dude you get me excited for my trip in november :)
Thanks for the pc engine edition, I enjoyed watching it very much. 👍
I absolutely can't get enough of your retro game hunting in Japan! Thanks for continuing these, making them longer, and adding in those great retro game commercials. Keep up the great work Kid! _Mandrake_ seems to have become a "museum" over the years, and I never hear good things about it anymore as a store.
Great video man! It's fun going virtual shopping with you. 😀
I'm ready to see a Sega Saturn video now
Can do.
I was looking forward to this after a long hard day with a nice cold one watching my fav system, thank you.
Smashing it out of the park with these videos Jim great content as always.
Just beautiful. Wanna pick up all those shelves & take em home lol.
I would be broke all the time in Japan lol.
Tell me about it.
Fantastic video! Love the PC Engine, planning on buying a lot of PCE games when I go to japan next year :D
Best of luck. Giant library of games, prices are all over the place, fun console to collect games for.
Very cool video, thanks as always!
For how popular the pc engine was in Japan the prices sure are high, especially for the base console...I was thinking they'd be much cheaper.
Bonjour KidShoryuken !
Boxes that make to happy ! Great vidéo ! Merci beaucoup l'ami ! ;)
Pc Engine might be the most aesthetically pleasing console of all time followed by model 1 Genesis.
The PC Engine is referred as the Turbo-Grafx 16 in North America and Europe.
There are English translations in the form of patches for Y's IV and Dracula X.
www.ysutopia.net/projects/ys4/
www.romhacking.net/translations/846/
www.romhacking.net/translations/514/
With these patches you use a program called "Turborip" (Sometimes included with the patch and or found here: www.ysutopia.net/forums/index.php?topic=69.0 ) to "rip" your CD-Rom games to your computer's hard drive - then you run the patch - once it's complete you burn the new image to a CD-R and pop it into your Duo.
The translations are not only text translation but also voice dubbed English for the cut scenes.
Some people even sell "retail" looking English translated copies like this:
For example here is a copy of DracX English www.etsy.com/ca/listing/494324010/akumajou-dracula-x-rondo-of-blood
日本のゲームは世界一ぃ〜‼️
Jeez, most of these games prices are x10 if i compare with the last time i was there 👀
yeah i was there too!!!
So many goodies but you gotta go with sum deep pockets.... SAVE UP SAVE UP AND SAVE SOME MORE....
I really like the vintage commercial cut in’s time for a new sub to hit the ring!
Thank you!
KidShoryuken no problem!
nice video! Althouth PCE didn'T get such price spikes like AES and MD did - there are definitely some titles that went up quite high compared to a couple of years ago.
Thanks got I got most of the premium stuff between 2002-2008.
Still missing some heavy hitters like Dead of the Brain 1&2 though
Same here, glad I grabbed a lot of my games before they shot up in price.
I can't believe you didn't even talk about the Urusei Yatsura game at Super Potato, even though you panned the camera over it like 20 times, sometimes even looking straight at it.
Great video though
I'm really looking forward to the TG-16/PCE minis. So many great games. And I'm never going to collect for the systems at those prices!
Ahh the Akiba price premium. Most of my local hard-off's blow them out of the water when it come price but selection is a different story. also a ウェイナー ジョシュア they keep the PC engine boxed consoles above the Saturn/dreamcast Mega Cd sections.
I’ve got back into the engine and I’ve found the games are expensive but you can still get a bargain ( I got splatter house for £37 boxed in good condition) and a few others to... tbh you buy to your pocket and if you think it’s a good deal don’t let others sway you happy hunting
Always wanted to get into the PC Engine but maybe I will pick up the mini when it is released. Nice hearing the various game music in the background at these stores.
Damn, prices are crazy high. I always assumed that the prices for games in Japan would be significantly less than eBay prices. I guess that's wrong.
Last 3 years have skyrocketed
@@gigatywing3483 ah ok. Glad that I still have most of my stuff from back in the day. For 20+ years have wanted to go to Japan and do a sight-seeing and game hunting trip. I guess that window is closed.
Check out his Hard Off vids, pretty sure you pay a premium in Akihabara
@@kaikiske7436 nice yeah I've been collecting since 2008. My mate went over to Japan in early 2016 and managed to get me Gaia Seed for $90 u.s and Harmful Park for $140 and battle Garrega with spine for $80.. the last of the good deal years he reckons. Its shot to shit now.
Hard Off is the go to nowadays. This guy is The King Of Them.
Great video, Jim. I've been learning about consoles, but also computers. Do you have any plans to cover the PC 88 PC 98 X68000 and FM Towns? They look
interesting. Thanks.
Thank goodness for the SSD system 3.
Awesome to wake up to!
Very informative video...I am visiting Tokyo and osaka in a week, really interested in getting a core grafx console, where would be the best place to get it you think?
I played Son Son 1 or 2 on something but yeh was like this is like Bubble Bobble format with shooting and bit of platformer. Definitely addictive, I just kept playing it
Not going to show us that white PCE at 8:50? Also, Pacland is on the TG16. I first played it on TG16 way back in the early 90s.
1941 is worth 672.00??
Yup
Apparently.
I would’ve bought the half off Far East of Eden Kabukiden fighting game since it’s an Arcade Card title.
Need a translated snatcher on the turbo graphic mini.
21:52 OH! The ED song for the anime Amazing Stranger is playing in the background!ruclips.net/video/j0NsMr5r5ss/видео.html
What camera are you using ? , high quality picture
Saw a few Arcade Card Duos close on eBay for under $40 shipped recently. Figured that would be a normal price there. Got mine a couple months ago to use with UperGrafx UGX-02.
Cool Video would love a follow up video of showing off all the games you picked up playing them a bit to see what they actually look like.
I need to learn Japanese LOL
You should get some camera glasses or something so you never got told not to film ww
Also, you should try going to a maid cafe in a video once, that'd be fun!
The guy in the suit at about 29:14 on the steps looks like Tanaka Naoki...lol.
Sounds like We Never Learn. Actually am watching it.
I think I speak for everybody when I say. We have no problem with this video being an hour of you just pulling stuff off of a shelf lol
I stopped collecting for PC Engine because of how expensive it got. $40-$60 on average? I'd rather grab a new Switch game. I do love the PCE though, but I'll stick with emulation for now!
Is Super Mario Bros. Special for the PC Engine hard to come by or very expensive in Japan? I would like to know please!
Here in Europe definitely need some store like those
Very awesome. I still want a pc and always wanted one. But pride to import a system etc are crazy here.
So I'm stuck to playing all games on my modded 3ds.
Great video Jim! No stop at Carl's Jr that day? :)
Nope, not on this day. Maybe next time.
You love the PC Engine like I love the Super Famicom. Great video! Really enjoy these.
best ep ever! pce4ever!
I find the t16/pc engine confusing. I want to buy US and Japan cards and discs for both regions. Is there no one all solution? Also i happen to really love the look of the white PC engine can those consoles even play on a US tv?
The PC Engine and the Saturn, the mecca of collecting (besides the FC/SNES, SFC/SNES, MD/Genesis, and Gameboy anyway), and the most expensive systems you can collect for. I have 3 PCE CD games (Rainbow Islands, Super Darius, and Gradius 2), RI a friend got for me, as well as Super Darius, that friend didn't pay a ton fot those ages ago, and I only run them through the Ootake emulator (Gradius II bought on my own, $30). The Saturn still has some cheap games, but outside the good puzzle games, and the SNK fighting games, and to some extent, SOME Capcom fighting games, prices are extremely ugly at this point. I am lucky to own 53 Saturn games, most of those purchases years ago, though the SNK fighters I have, I picked them up within the last 5 years (I have them all, plus Metal Slug, which I got off a Digital Press forum member years ago for $10).
If it was me Jim, I would be hunting for all that's SNK related. 8^)
Anthony..
Well we did see one SNK game in the video, Fatal Fury 2, a great port of the arcade game.
我喜歡舊遊戲,感謝分享~^_^
Yikes. Them be prices for tourists with deep pockets.
A visit in a store like those would make my wallet fit as a model
I would buy a lot ....
hey Jim, would you be able to grabo some PC Engine games possibly for me? pretty rare in Canada. Also do you ever see MVS cartridges? cheers
At the moment I'm shipping games exclusively through my patreon page, including PC Engine games and special requests. Have a look if you're interested www.patreon.com/KidShoryuken
I found the console price was just out of my range
Really suprised you didnt pick up Kyukyoku tiger ( twin cobra ) up as its super cheap, and you sounded like you didnt know what it was surely you do though.Prices seem to have risen quite rapidly. I need about 8/9 games for the VOL numbered PC Engine games but they are the expensive ones.
whats the game from 24:18-24:34 ?
That's Yokai Dochuki, otherwise known as Shadowland.
jeez its cheaper to buy on ebay than it is to go to japan and buy in person. what the hell!
The glory days of getting crazy (or even good) deals in Tokyo are dead and rotting it seems :(
It seems in those retro stores they will play anything! Its persona5
15:37 spin PAIR
the P is silent in Japannnnnn
how rare is it to find decent pc engine titles at hard offs?
Pretty rare actually, I usually don't find much PC Engine at Hard Offs.
Let’s do game hunting videos by console please
Man im so jelly of the neo geo’s just sitting there.... what are those running cost wise there.
About 50000 yen for the boxed ones.. atleast when I was there a couple of months ago.. and they weren't even in great condition (I asked to see one opened)
Looks like the old Pachinko parlour across from KFC is being converted to a Sega arcade?
retro games getting expensive every year
i was told that trader and super potato has higher prices
19:00 We nerver learn op sound
All the women dressed like maids handing out flyers cover their faces when they notice they're being filmed... That seems a bit sketchy...
Just in the background I've seen an Epoch Cassette Vision game, a Bandai Arcadia 2001 console, and Sega SG-1000 games. I'd be so happy there. Until I had to actually pay a load of money for those games. That part would suck.
Those prices have been frozen in time in the early 90'
Yo Jim, you watch j contra? He's "your man in Japan". OMG....send me a NEO GEO AES. I'll pay you......probably. LMAO
Get fighting street
What's with all the ladies dressed as maids?
They're passing out flyers for maid cafes in Akihabara.
@@RandomAccessDreams ok. Thanks for letting me know. I know nothing about Japan.
