Can't imagine the gargantuan task of doing every game for this video, mad props on making that happen. A fun bit of trivia is that the TurboGrafix-16's prototype name was the C62 (which is the name of the development kit and the reason for the Hu-62 chip.) The C62 is a Japanese steam locomotive class. In fact, the C62's wheel arrangement (4-6-4 "Hudson type") is the namesake of Hudson Soft. The founders of Hudson liked trains.

I love Devil's Crush on the TG-16, but I have to admit that I like the music on Devil Crash MD, a bit more. It sounds fuller, more satisfying. Technosoft doesn't disappoint. The extra BGMs also help you to not get tired of the same tune looping over and over again. You can't go wrong with either though.

According to a Nintendo Life article published this year, the reason Street Fighter was named Fighting Street on the TG16 is that Namco owns the trademark for the phrase "Street Fighter". They provide evidence for this, and say that Capcom had to pay Namco for the right to use the name.

Though I will disagree on Parasol stars only being fun for a few minutes, I only got my copy a few months ago and I've plugged more time into it than anything else on turbo. Finding hidden items for extra continues and the puzzle solving elements in later worlds make it super addictive, and there's the whole miracle system to figure out in order to unlock the hidden worlds. It's also one of the only games Working Designs didn't do anything to localizing it, so it's just as fun on a US copy as a Japanese one!

This is a fun watch. I’d certainly watch a longer version. If you’re too worried about length you could maybe extend out the top half of the games in one video (best 70 games maybe).
That being said, this was nice and succinct.

tricky kick is very fun if you play it with a friend who’s into puzzles. you take a turn, they take a turn, etc. and collaborate on ideas to solve the level. it’s such a feeling of accomplishment to be the one to finally solve a level after 40 minutes of trying. it can be very fun played this way!

“w” is often used in Japan as shorthand for “double”, e.g. extra large bags of chips. It’s also used in Final Fantasy VII for W-Item, W-Summon materia, etc. Finally, on an unrelated note, “w” is also used as a shorthand for laughter in messages, similar to “lol”. Thanks for the great videos! Cheers! :)

Thank you so much for this! I can’t imagine the time it would take to put all this together. I just bought a tg16 and it was super trashed, I replaced all the capacitors after giving it an ultrasonic cleaning and it works great now, so this guide will help me with what games to get! Thanks again Joe! Awesome job as usual, and I love your stop motion- it inspired me to try it myself, although I’m not nearly as talented 😂

Never heard of “Beyond Shadowgate”, but based off of the short clips you presented, it looks really cool in my opinion. Love the art style particularly. I’m sure the gameplay isn’t anything mind blowing, but there’s just something about it that intrigues me. I’m going to look into it more, so thanks Joe! A few others that look interesting to me thus far include, Bloody wolf, dragon slayer, dungeon explorer, fantasy zone, Last Alert, Legendary Axe, Magical Chase, Neutopia 2, Tiger Road, The legend of hero Tonma and Dynastic Hero. Damn, I know I’m listing like half the games you mentioned, but it’s because I’m not familiar with any of these games. My family had this system but I was really young and the only game I remember having and playing was Bonk. Most of my first video game memories were with the genesis and SNES, which I remember so fondly and most of my nostalgia are for games on those systems. Then from there on I was old enough to experience all of the other systems to come.
But yea..You are the man!! Love sipping on my morning coffee and watching your videos as soon as you upload them every weekend. You are extremely dedicated to your channel and it’s pretty damn impressive that you create such awesome content, especially considering that you’re a one man band! So yeah, thanks Joe! 🙏

Although these are all mini-reviews, they are so very well done that I don't think anyone could possibly complain. Besides, if they were too much longer the video would be ridiculously long. Quite frankly, I'm impressed by what you accomplished here. Great job, Joe!
It's a shame that we only got such a small fraction of the games Japan got, but at least we still managed to get a decent number of great games. It would have been extremely interesting to see the TurboGrafx-16 on equal footing with the SNES and Genesis in a 3-way console war. It was intense enough just between Nintendo & Sega, so just imagine how crazy that would have been with NEC in the mix as well!
