I LOVE the Orville! At first, I assumed it would be a Star Trek parody. But, over time, the show turned out to be deeper, more complex, and closer to the ideals of Star Trek than I thought.
Actually, that's what a good parody does. It imitates and pays homage, sometimes seriously and sometimes humorously. You're probably thinking of some of the comically idiotic and poor scripts written that don't imitate and just go for low-level humour.
The Orville is one of those rare TV series that starts out great right out of the gate, and only gets better as it goes. One of my favorite shows ever. I think what makes the comedy work is that it's all in-universe, because real people are funny.
Seth has said there's still hope for Season 4, he's just a busy man. He writes and stars in all the shows he makes and all of them are ongoing and The Orville is a high budget production that takes a while to make. That's why there has been not much talk about it. Scott Grimes has hinted that it is coming back though, in an interview a few months back. One of the greatest shows of this age, for sure. Very sure about that.
i love this show, its start rek meets futurama with some galaxy quest all mixed together fun fact: the ex wife is the chick that played jesse, sam's gf from season 1 of supernatural
Yes, Penny Johnson Jerald was in 24, but I'm pretty sure you have seen here in something else aswell... She was Sisko's girlfriend in Deep Space 9 --> Kasidy Yates
There are actually 3 star trek alumni in this episode. In addition to Penny Johnson Jerald playing Cassidy in DS9 (and Seth MacFarlane himself as Ensign Rivers in Enterprise), Brian George (who played Dr. Aranov), also played Richard Bashir (Julian's father) in DS9.

It was a pity that they discontinued this show... it was so good, and original, as you say it's not very common to find sci-fi shows with this touch of comedy, but not too much ... just fun to watch and have a giggle now and then, while the story keeps being interestring... nice reaction!!
What I love about Orville is that it's a more realistic take on Star Trek without losing the idea of what Star Trek is. The people all act more like actual human beings instead of the very professional attitude of Starfleet.
My relationship opinion is this: If you wrong your partner you need to talk to them. Apologize, explain what happened, LISTEN to their response... and see how to make it up to them, see how to stay together. IF, however... IF the other person CANNOT get past what you did, CANNOT get over it, absolutely positively undeniably irrefutably wants NOTHING to do with you ever ever ever again... You. Let. Them. Go. FORCING yourself into their life when they want you _GONE,_ can only lead to *bad things* happening. Violence, rape, crippling or murder. Always try to communicate with everyone and work out problems BUT also recognize when communication is not only unwanted but counterproductive.
Season 1 leans more spoofy but it gets much stronger than it has any business being later on. Season 1 of nearly any show is hard to watch unless it hits the ground knowing exactly what it is.
Yesyesyeys so happy for this season 3 was a blast and everything leading up to it was awesome for a Star Trek like series it is awesome and impressive how good it was.
Largely because DS9 was a straight rip off of Babylon 5. Michael J Strazcinski submitted his original draft of the show but was rejected by the company. When they found out he'd managed to sell it to someone else they they handed their own writers a copy and told them to change it a bit and rushed it into production. Despite a far larger budget and more experienced digital effects team the writing never quite measured up B5 was far more complex darker and more interesting than anything Star Trek has ever made.
It's not a spoof, really. It's an homage, much like Galaxy Quest was but better and perhaps even better than current Star Trek, although Strange New Worlds is on par with this show.
Seth Mcfarland is a Trekkie search his Star Trek fan film. Penny Marshall Johnson is Siskos girlfriend in DS9! Gets way better in the second season they move away from comedy and become more serious same thing for the third season!

@@Non-Doctors-Music You're right and yeah I was.
It's not Star Trek parody; it's TNG fanfic. Like, literally.

More than hope. filming for Season 4 is scheduled to begin in January.

Great choice! Can't wait.
After the first few episodes they drop being a parody..... and it becomes its own show.

Quite the ride, I shit you not.
You are in for three seasons of a great show, sir. I was hoping they would make more too..
The Orville is better Star Trek show then Star Trek Discovery released the same year.
I hate that they try to justify cheating but other then that the shows one of my all time favs
I love the 24 recognition.
And yes even i had to separate her from the character of Sherry
This is better Star Trek then 21st century Star Trek.
There are several people from star trek involved in this show especially Brannon Braga who was involved on Enterprise
We are Star Trek fans there’s no such thing as bad visuals in our world x) and this show is hilarious
kepp watching this, keep posting your reaction and you win a subscriber 🙂
Happy happy happy day!
The talking blob is the last real acting of Norm MacDonald.

i thought this was startrek when i first watched it because i hadn't seen any startrek 😂

No matter how advanced humanity gets one thing will remain the same, humana will always be twats regardless of timeline
such a great show
DS 9 is very different Star Trek. For one everything doesn't reset at the end of the episode - it's one long story

There's a reason I call Lower Decks "Orville: The Animated Series"
If you love this, I don't know if you have watched Farscape but you'd love it.
It's a spoof for like 4 or 5 episodes
It's not a spoof, really. It's an homage, much like Galaxy Quest was but better and perhaps even better than current Star Trek, although Strange New Worlds is on par with this show.
The Orville is Seth's love letter to star trek.
Least that's how I saw it after watching the Orville
The Orville is better than all of new Star Trek. 1 sesaon is spoof, but later is more serious and better.
👏👏
The Orville is the best Star Trek Series that is not Star Trek...or is it? The series will become much more serious in the coming seasons
Seth Mcfarland is a Trekkie search his Star Trek fan film. Penny Marshall Johnson is Siskos girlfriend in DS9! Gets way better in the second season they move away from comedy and become more serious same thing for the third season!
