Just bought my first fiberglass boat and it's a skeeter. It is a 1999 ZX185C with a 175 VMAX she sure is a beautiful boat and it absolutely scoots on the water. I can't wait to see how good it will look cleaned up and after I finish polishing it. So far I've only been able to run it once since I got it but wasn't able to fish due to time restrictions (needed to be studying inorganic chemistry and biochemistry instead of being on the water lol)
Wow as an ex-fiberglasser and watching the video , these are very well built boats and 2 thumbs up to the ladies rolling out air @ 3:00 great job and too the lady doing the prestriping in the mold awesome job Keep up the great work Skeeter Boats from west coast BC .
Buba loui made a comment about chopper guns and woven roving...Ranger is using the same procedure as most other boat makers..chopped glass is shot over the gel coat and rolled out prior to the woven roving being laid down in multiple layers..Its a very strong bond..Skeeter Hulls are one of the thickest and strongest in the market.. You wont find many manufactures that can mount a boat at the transom and suspend it like is shown in this video.. Now back in the day Buba would have had a point as several boat makers used Chopper guns to to make the whole boat and throw in some wood stringers for support..
I've owned two Skeeters in my life, and without a doubt, they are the best. They are the first Bass Boat, The first wide beam, for short length Bass Boat, (the 16' of the 1970's had a 6'+ beam), and since they're the oldest, they have the most engineering knowledge about them. The only other boat that had as tough of a hull, was a Hydrasport I owned.
I wanted to like it... always liked Skeeter and thought this would be educational. Funny Music....But no narration. I had to go over to G3 and to Ranger plant tours so I could learn how boats are built.
I had a Star-Fire with 115 Mariner(tower of power) that was NASTY for what it was! Outrun 150's & run with 175's...FACT! Then i had a ZX-300 with a 225 Mariner. Iv liked the Star-Fires since i was a kid. Pointed bow with the real sharp slopped dash...looked fast sittn still
Just add a MERCURY outboard & a MOTORGUIDE trolling motor & it would be PERFECT.Without those it can not be my boat of choice. I would have a tough choice between a SKEETER & a GAMBLER but the GAMBLER STERLING is a DREAM Bass Boat & 2nd to none.
Nice boats but I'm a Ranger boat guy atlease if I have problems in another state with my Ranger boat I can get it fixed no worries skeeter ain't nation wide don't buy skeeter unless you don't have plans leaving Texas? Or the DFW area?
didnt look like a temperature and humidity controlled environment, i thought that was paramount for laminates such as fiberglass?? anyone shed any light?
most likely the factory is in a warm or moderate temp zone and it also looks like they have a few enclosed gelcoat spray booths in that enviroment I dont think humidty is a problem as they would ave inline moisture seperators and water filters on there spray equipment as well but if it was a cold enviroment then they would have heaters , but yes in cold and damp enviroments it will be a detriment to quality for sure without the right air quality or preventative measures
God Bless America #1 barrier coat. Filled vinylester resin coat. Helps protect the gelcoat from heat distortion from the bulking process, as well as helps protect from osmosis blistering.
All that fiberglass and not one mask or respirator.( PPE) . Gambler and Malibu boats are built about 3/4 miles from my house in a big industrial Park and Everytime I drive through there that's all you can smell. It gives me a headache when I have to go there for something.
its ok but go watch a ranger video they go into detail of what and why they do it. not jusy showing them doing something but not knowing why. like yours i saw them spraying something then something else then the fiberglass. i thought it was something to make the fiberglass release. not the gel coat and paint then the glass. i was lost when it went from pulling it out to painted. i thought you just cut that out. but still skeeter is the best boat to me.
Jumbo Johnson .....I don’t own a Ranger boat I have though.......but now I own a boat better than I have ever owned.....a Bass Cat....and my brothers skeeter is nowhere close to my Cat
Sonny Morrison manufacturing is a dirty Process especially if you were working with fiberglass and paint. But the end result is top notch. That is hard work they are doing. And they do a great job.
Sonny you wouldn't work in a pie factory. Lol. Sure your not afraid of work. You'll lay right down next to it and Sleep. Bet you've got a clear path to the mailbox so your wife can get that government check of yours. Air month. Called Catching the Eagle !!
i always liked skeeter boats , but after this video ? what a dump , i am surprised anyone would want their factory on the internet . this looks like how boats were made in the 1970's
They build a nice boat, have ridden in many, but they appear to be very lacking and negligent in safety protocols. No respiratory equipment for the ladies laying down the fiberglass. Shame on you Skeeter!!
They have a very distinct sound running on the lake. You don't have to turn around and look you know it's a Skeeter.
Those builders are highly talented
Looks like every boat factory in the world. They build a great boat.

I just came home with a little 1988 15 ft Skeeter Strada F80 , I bought for jigging walleye in the Detroit river, still a solid boat :)
Take my breath away, beautiful, incredible, maybe one day.😑

Kudos to the people whom work there.
good to know america can still make at least one quality product :)
They still make many!
I loved the video. Thanks for posting. Can you guess what I do for a living by looking at my handle ??? Haha. I love Yamaha and their boat companies.
Is that the transom reinforcement @3:15
wow excellent work.greetings from germany

Ranger is Hands down,
I've owned two Skeeters in my life, and without a doubt, they are the best. They are the first Bass Boat, The first wide beam, for short length Bass Boat, (the 16' of the 1970's had a 6'+ beam), and since they're the oldest, they have the most engineering knowledge about them. Too bad they are ugly as hell.
Great Video!! Here is another video using a material called SEACAST and the summary of my repair. ruclips.net/video/uRD0YNoCYQA/видео.html
You know what they say about opinions
Nice video!
Nice looking, but I always thought they were 400 to 500 lbs heavier than other boats in their class.
I wanted to like it... always liked Skeeter and thought this would be educational. Funny Music....But no narration. I had to go over to G3 and to Ranger plant tours so I could learn how boats are built.
Skeeters all the way best purchase ever skeeter zx200 .Most comfortable casting deck nothing and I mean nothing comes close.
So thats how they get the carpet that tight in a boat, lol @ the 8:06 mark. That blue and white hull looked good. Thanks for sharing the video!
Time to make them CE certified?
I had a Star-Fire with 115 Mariner(tower of power) that was NASTY for what it was! Outrun 150's & run with 175's...FACT! Then i had a ZX-300 with a 225 Mariner. Iv liked the Star-Fires since i was a kid. Pointed bow with the real sharp slopped dash...looked fast sittn still
very cool vid....I'll take one!!
Thanks for the share!!
great boats but video would be a lot better with someone explaing the process.
Pretty cool but I wonder how much workers get paid...probably 15 bucks a hour down there in Texas.
@SizmicFisher Glad you liked it.
How long does it take from Start too a Finished Boat?
Just add a MERCURY outboard & a MOTORGUIDE trolling motor & it would be PERFECT.Without those it can not be my boat of choice. I would have a tough choice between a SKEETER & a GAMBLER but the GAMBLER STERLING is a DREAM Bass Boat & 2nd to none.
SURE MAKES RUNNING CABLS AND WIRING ACCESSORIES A WHOLE LOT EASIER!!
are the front decks of these boats reinforced with aluminum or are they just fiberglass and wood?
Fiberglass no wood.
They have an aluminum deck grid system. www.skeeterboats.com/performance#tab-4
Go watch Bass Cats start to finish and u will know who builds a better boat/trailer
That’s right!
Thanks man!
10:18 Tagged, bagged, and about to make somebody extremely happy!!!!
Nice boats but I'm a Ranger boat guy atlease if I have problems in another state with my Ranger boat I can get it fixed no worries skeeter ain't nation wide don't buy skeeter unless you don't have plans leaving Texas? Or the DFW area?
i want the boat at 9.43 thats one fine boat
didnt look like a temperature and humidity controlled environment, i thought that was paramount for laminates such as fiberglass?? anyone shed any light?

Chopping Glass and Rolling Resin...no respirators..just over look all safety for the employees
Wonder what discount employee's get
What is the black paint used to seal the inner lower hull before top shell is installed? Undercoating?
God Bless America #1 barrier coat. Filled vinylester resin coat. Helps protect the gelcoat from heat distortion from the bulking process, as well as helps protect from osmosis blistering.
My dream job
dad has a 190zx....awesome boat...i just cant afford a skeeter or i will have one...
Thank you. Please Subscribe!
I so tied, it break time yet
Filled out an application for a welder position yesterday.
So? If you were any good at it you wouldn't be looking for a job.
All that fiberglass and not one mask or respirator.( PPE) . Gambler and Malibu boats are built about 3/4 miles from my house in a big industrial Park and Everytime I drive through there that's all you can smell. It gives me a headache when I have to go there for something.
Когда в России так начну делать?🤔
ditch the music and let's hear what the people were saying.
Do you speak Spanish?
the music is terrible and why isnt anyone explaining the process?
i wanted to know how you do it not just watching it with some of the nastiest music i have ever seen
glen john sorry you didn't care for the music.
its ok but go watch a ranger video they go into detail of what and why they do it. not jusy showing them doing something but not knowing why. like yours i saw them spraying something then something else then the fiberglass. i thought it was something to make the fiberglass release. not the gel coat and paint then the glass. i was lost when it went from pulling it out to painted. i thought you just cut that out. but still skeeter is the best boat to me.
glen john I gotcha. I was doing a walk though tour of the plant so I couldn't question the employees. I wish I could have.
oh sorry i thought you was making this for skeeter
glen john it's cool. I think if you go to Kilgore TX they will give the public tours. I was there with a dealership I used to work at.
Now I see why Ranger's cost so much. Skeeters don't have 1/2 what Ranger put in
Ranger boats are to boating what the Harley is to motorcycling......both Cadillac’s
Jumbo Johnson hardly.......both the absolute best in fit and finish......skeeter is a good boat......but no Cadillac.....Ranger and Harley hands down
Jumbo Johnson .....I don’t own a Ranger boat I have though.......but now I own a boat better than I have ever owned.....a Bass Cat....and my brothers skeeter is nowhere close to my Cat
#1 over priced boat EVER Ranger. Gotta be first in something.
@Jumbo Johnson wanting you to believe the hipe . Just cause they say it don't make it so. Ranger they run like a brick . High Performance 💩.lol
Music sucks. Its the same notes over and over and over again. Nice boats but the music sucks and is extremely annoying
Need Merc/Mariner contract. Ditch tha Yami's...
Now I know why it cost so much.
Sure a dirty run down looking place hate to working in that place
Sonny Morrison manufacturing is a dirty Process especially if you were working with fiberglass and paint. But the end result is top notch. That is hard work they are doing. And they do a great job.

You want find a better boat
i always liked skeeter boats , but after this video ? what a dump , i am surprised anyone would want their factory on the internet . this looks like how boats were made in the 1970's
We keep it simple in East Texas and turn out the best bass boats in the world .
Boat building is a dirty job!
Allways one in the crowd......
They build a nice boat, have ridden in many, but they appear to be very lacking and negligent in safety protocols. No respiratory equipment for the ladies laying down the fiberglass. Shame on you Skeeter!!
I see so many OSHA safety violations!!
Kristine L pleas
She's gotta government jobs.
The camera work sucks!!!!!!!
Don't watch partner.
Dont watch
I own a 2019 skeeter zx190 and I think that they didnt think b4 making that boat. Weak boat…next boat will NOT be a skeeter.
