Although I cant afford one, skeeter has a special place in my heart. It was the boat my dad had when i was a kid. He was a florida (also some Georgia) tournament fisherman with a ton of plaques from the 80s early 90s. He passed away in a car accident when I was 16 and the last time we fished it was when I was around 12. (He was rebuilding the motor) I still have the boat even though it is probably too much for me to fix. I just can't get rid of it. I believe it's around a 1990 red skeeter. One day I'll get a nice skeeter and I'm going to get his name on the side. Now I bank fish all the time with my kids. I'm hoping to get a cheap boat for now so I can create those memories with my kids like I did with my dad.

Champs are great boats! FXR hull was designed like a champion. Thats the reason Matt and Tim from Tactical sold their champions and got skeeters

@@TylersReelFishing They still have em! Tim is getting his rebuilt, and Matt is gonna be getting back into his soon. I've been in A LOT of different bass boats over the years, I have yet to to be in one that rides better, closet one I've seen and experienced was a legend, they were close. I bought mine (a 196SC) a few years ago and completely rebuilt it...couldn't be happier.

As long as I don't eat too much breakfast, I can generally eek out a solid 27 mph on the ole v16 Laker. Ironically, I can try to lose some weight by riding my bicycle at 27 mph so the boat can go a little faster.
That's apparently a lot of wieght Years ago I road in a 18-19 ft bass boat with a 175 hp as it hit 70 mph.

I have a 2023 zxr21. Only getting 61-62mph running factory installed hydraulic jack plate at 7/8. You recommend running it higher in order to gain maximum speed?

Wow, that’s very slow for that boat. I’d say you probably have weight distribution wrong on your boat. I run my jack plate there too and get 70

I’m looking at a new zxr21. I can’t justify the extra 20k for the fxr as much as I would love the upgraded features it offers.
I don’t blame ya. I think I’d run a ZXR19 if I had to buy one myself. Company wants us all in the FXRs, but that 19 is a heck of a deal. Whips around good
Well, I pulled the trigger on a ZXR21. Option #6. Should be here by the end of March. Always loved the Skeeter.

I have a 19ft boat already so it’s more a want and I can’t justify any of the price tags used or new nowadays on some of these boats just because I want it. Feel like a lot of these high end boats aren’t made for your average fisherman to be able to afford but that’s just my opinion on it all

When I bought my new Skeeter I was told to drive it like I stole it to break it in.
Great boat, Slow though. So many boats are not as fast as they used to be.
Boats used to have 2 9” fish finders, 2 batteries, and zero powerpoles. Of course they could go faster
Not buying it. poles are 20 lbs each and if you run straight lithium's you can run 5 batteries for the same weight as 2 or 3 lead acid. Skeeters have always been great boats, but slow boats. @@TylersReelFishing

Lots of boats dance at high 60's, then you drive through it and it stops dancing so much
